Finally, Forest Hills has some good Chinese food! I'm crediting an extra star because it's hard to find decent takeout in this neighborhood. I've never been to the restaurant but their delivery is pretty good. We haven't worked our way through the menu so will say their fried rice and especially their salted fried chicken are where it's at-fantastic. Their soup dumplings and veggie dumplings are pretty good. Their pork buns are pretty great. Rice cakes could use some work. Haven't tried their noodles yet...but I say check this place out! read more

Ordered delivery from this new Chinese restaurant. Chicken with garlic sauce and eggplant in garlic sauce- both dishes were dreadfully sweet!! We were really excited that this place finally opened up. We went there for lunch for the first time today with the family and ordered a bunch of dishes to try out. Soup dumplings were a disappointment. It was all stuck together and breaking before we tried to serve. Taiwanese basil chicken dish was made with fried chicken pieces instead. Flounder fish dish was bland. The brown rice was overcooked with too much water. Everyone in the neighborhood want them to stick around and succeed so I hope they learn to make improvements by listening to the reviews. read more

I've had about 5 meals at The Bund in the last few months and have enjoyed every one. Spectacular food for a small local restaurant. For a regular meal the portions are huge. The menu selection is quite long making selections difficult because I wanted to try every one. Highly recommended. read more

This is not really directed to their food, their food are ok, just when the delivery guy arrived, and it took me 3 minutes ish to get down, and once I got down, he starts complaining in chinese rudely about I came down so slow.... repeatedly saying things like "so slow... you came down" and gave me a nasty look. Too bad I already handing him the tips at the moment, otherwise I would have never give him those tips, I regretted tipping him as soon as I grasped what he's saying... never again. read more

Nice restaurant. But be very careful- sometimes their entrees contain ingredients that are not listed on the menu. I ordered a spicy shrimp entree and it came with chunks of pork surrounding the shrimp. They were nice enough to exchange it for me. read more

We went here on 6/22 for a late lunch/early dinner. It was not crowded so we got a table right away. We ordered 2 XLB (1 pork & 1 crab) as appetizers and 3 entrees (salt & pepper pork, orange chicken and fried whole fish). Perhaps it was a miscommunication/misunderstanding but all the entrees came out first! So we ordered 2 bowls of rice and started dining. Halfway thru, the XLB came out! To make matters worse, the pork XLB was incorrect...it was regular pork dumplings, not soup dumplings! They had to redo the order. However, more miscomm/understand cuz they bought them "to go"!! We had to explain we wanted to eat them there because soup dumplings would NOT be the same with takeout! They took the takeout bag back to the kitchen and just bought them back to our table in the plastic takeout container uncovered! The salt & pepper pork chops were so-so, not much flavor, a little tough/chewy/overcooked/fried? Orange chicken OK, not too spicy. The fish was deboned and deep fried with sweet & sour sauce. It was also just OK with a little too much sauce and not crispy enough. We felt the 2 XLB was the best dishes that we had. The place is a nice clean well-decorated restaurant but seems to be going thru growing pains and improvements are needed as shown by the other earlier average reviews. But we will return to try their lunch dishes and give the Bund a second try! read more

After my not-so great review after a disappointing experience, I was contacted by David, the manager. He offered me a $25 food credit and I can honestly say, this time the delivery was quicker, food was hot upon arrival, and the quality was much better than my previous experience. Realizing that it is more of an authentic chinese restaurant, I opted for different dishes than normally found on Chinese American take out joints i.e., Beef and Broccoli, General Tso's chicken. The spicy crab was good and my pan fried seafood arrived properly packaged and most importantly--hot. Overall, solid 4 star! read more

I'm surprised by any negative reviews I've read here, since I've only had good experiences ordering from The Bund! My father's​ family is Shanghainese and I grew up eating Shanghainese food, so I've been very pleased to have an authentic spot to order from (note: I've only ordered delivery through Seamless, never been to the restaurant in person). If you stick with the actual Shanghainese dishes on the menu, as opposed to the sad American Chinese dishes, it's hard to go wrong. Prices are a little high for Chinese food, but I'm happy to pay for the convenience of getting authentic Shanghainese in my neighborhood. I just hope they don't water down the menu too much with American Chinese options! read more

I was excited to see an authentic Shanghainese restaurant open in a neighborhood that desperately needed some authenticity in its ethnic Asian food. I went into the restaurant to order for takeout on a weekday evening. My experience was...less than awesome. The restaurant was about half full when I arrived with a couple people waiting for takeout. There isn't an area to wait for takeout so people were blocking the main entrance creating an awkward bottleneck. Space is a luxury in the restaurant industry, so I won't get on the owners too much for that. I decided to let the food and interaction with staff determine whether this place was worthy for a return visit. I ordered two Shanghainese staples: Shanghainese stir-fried rice cakes and cold beef/beef tendon in hot oil. The existence of these two dishes on the menu had me hopeful of that this was going to be a new go-to spot. The prices were a bit higher than Flushing, but I would be willing to pay the premium for the convenience. These hopes were soon dashed. As I waited for my order, I had the opportunity to observe the interactions taking place between staff and customers. A customer came in to pick up an order he had placed over the phone. The staff manning the front of the house handed one of many take out orders sitting behind him to the customer without confirming his order. Soon thereafter, another customer came in to pick up his order. Realizing then that he should probably confirm the orders rather than blindly handing them out, he asked the customer what they had ordered. Turns out he had given this customer's food to the previous customer and became visibly flustered. Rather than apologizing and expediting this customer's order, he called over the waiter and staff from the kitchen to determine who was at fault here (clearly his own). Embarrassing and awkward for all parties involved. I waited approximately 20 minutes for my food to finally come out. Considering that the restaurant was not particularly busy and half my order was a cold dish that is pre-made, this was just too long. As he was checking my order (which I appreciated) he noticed that he had entered the wrong dish into the system. He explained the situation to me and said it would be another few minutes for the right dish to come out. Only after I left did I realize that the dish he charged me for was more expensive than the dish I actually ordered. I was already home with a bad taste in my mouth from what I observed in the restaurant so the ~$1 difference was not worth the trouble. As a new restaurant, you have to be trying harder to please and accommodate your customers. In the limited time I was in the restaurant, I could tell this was not a place I wanted to return to. The food, which at this point was more of an afterthought, was mediocre at best. The rice cakes were lukewarm and bit too oily. For $10, I expected more meat and veggies in the dish. Instead, it was 90% rice cake. The beef/tendon in chili oil was unreasonably small for $7. I'll stick to Flushing for real Chinese food, or settle for local takeout (shootout to Panda Restaurant on Yellowstone). Tl;dr - had high hopes for legit Shanghainese food in FH. Disappointed by the poor service and mediocre/high priced food. Will not return. Do not recommend. read more

The food was superb. This is not your typical commercialized Chinese restaurant. The chefs are from a Michelin star restaurant in Shanghai, and the food reflects this in flavors that are delicious and authentic. We ordered Shanghainese Pan Fried Noodles which were perfectly seasoned and delicious. We also ordered the Sizzling Tofu dish which was flavorful, and delicious. The hot and sour soup which was delicious and light. We also had the Shanghai mixed vegetable which also was great. Loved and highly recommend the restaurant. We will be back! read more

This is the first time that I have tried this restaurant. It will be the last unless a vast improvement is made. Their specialty Kung Pao chicken & shrimp was terrible. Mostly peanuts and hot peppers. The soup dumplings were not good(I have had them other places and they were delicious. The lo Mein was shining with grease on top and had a peculiar taste. All in all, I was shocked at how bad everything was as maybe you might get one bad dish, but all of them really unacceptable. I am not a youngster and have eaten all types of asian food but never anything this bad. Most of the food went into the garbage. Plus I looked at the health rating and it was "C." On that note, I should have known better than to order from this place. Sorry for this review, but I always try to be honest. read more

Extremely frustrated with this restaurant. Some individual dishes are alright (although it always tastes slightly different every time i order), and I continued to order from them since the options for decent authentic-ish chinese food in forest hills is pretty slim. However, they are a total mess and it has happened more than once where the menu item I wanted was not available anymore and they had not updated their menu. While disappointing, its not so bad when that happens if I'm at the restaurant in person. But its extremely frustrating when I've already placed my order online and they will only replace the item with something of equivalent value. It really narrows my options and last time I ordered nothing else appealed to me for that price. I had to go through this whole process to cancel my order and get a refund online. Also, the customer service is absolutely terrible. they had no interest in making up for the mistake. I dont think i'd be as upset if it hadn't happened before, but I've given this place many chances but they've finally lost me as a customer for good. Its not good when 1 out of every 5 orders is a terrible experience. read more

It is hard to find a decent Shanghainese restaurant in Forest Hills. Every time I go to a Shanghainese restaurant, I always order the pan fried dumpling and crab meat soup dumpling. I was a little disappointed with The Bund's dumpling dishes. They can't be compared to other Shanghainese restaurants in Flushing or Manhattan Chinatown. I was in the neighborhood as opposed to the Continental / Austin St area, where I usually frequent the various restaurant options there, but there was a concert or something on and decided everywhere would be really crowded so I stopped hoping to take out some food. Well, crowded it wasn't. Despite that nobody seemed to even bother to look up from whatever they were doing to see if I was a customer or somebody who just wandered in. I looked at the menu and noticed the designation 'Shanghai' so I asked how it differed from the other Chinese cuisines. I was met with a blank stare. Still I persisted and thought, well I could play safe and stay with a couple of orders of soup and a couple of orders of dumplings. I asked what the minimum for a credit card was and was told that there would be a 'service' charge. On principal I nixed the whole idea and went to a diner. read more

I had dinner last night with 7 family members. The quality of the food and services were impeccable. Their soup dumplings were superior than Joe Shanghai. The soup has a rich crab flavor without excessive fat. We also tried their braised pork shoulder. Compared with many other Shanghai restaurants, this was prepared exceptionally well. The meat fell off the bone easily with the well prepared skin that melted in your mouth. David, one of the partners of this establishment, introduced to us several new dishes. His recommendation was spot on so ask for him when you go there. I highly recommend this restaurant and very happy they joined our Forest Hills community. read more

My husband and I were excited to see a new Shanghainese restaurant open up in our area. We've ordered food for pick up twice now. The first time, 2 of the 4 dishes we ordered were not available. We chalked this up to the fact that it was their opening week and we had ordered our food very close to closing time. Disappointing, but really not a big deal. The second time, we ordered 3 dishes and didn't realize one was incorrect until we got home. I called The Bund explaining that they had given me the wrong dish. Instead of trying to remedy the situation, the woman who had picked up asked if I wanted to come back and speak to the waiter myself since he was the one who took my order. I thought this was a bit absurd as it seemed like she was placing blame on another employee and not willing to try and remedy the situation herself. She then got the waiter on the phone anyway. I continued to explain to the waiter that they had given me the wrong dish and asked if I could come back to swap out the incorrect dish for the correct one I wanted. The waiter said he wanted to speak to his manager first and put me on hold. I was on hold for about 7 minutes with no follow ups. Naturally, since I lived close by, I walked over to the restaurant while I was still on hold. As soon as I entered, it was very clear they had forgotten I was still on the phone. I talked to the waiter that took my order and again, asked if I could swap out the incorrect dish for the correct one. It was only then did he inform me that that dish was not available. I explained to them that it would've been nice to have been informed this while I was on the phone, instead of having to walk over and find this out in person. The woman I had talked to very briefly apologized and just excused the mishap by saying they were very busy. The food is okay at best (hence 2 stars instead of 1), but their customer service needs some serious improvement. read more

I am Chinese and have traveled through out the US and Asia. This is probably the worst managed restaurant in Queens. I was there tonight with my family and ordered the top two "specials " from their special menu which they proudly placed on top of their regular menu. It was half a rack of pork ribs and half if a chicken both supposed to be done in the exact same style. Well, they accomplished that, the style is basically oil fried for both. Both the meat on the pork rib and the chicken tastes exactly the same, even their texture were the same; similar to that of my leather belt. When we questioned why, and asked for sauce or something to allow any one of us to try and pass it by my mouth to my stomach. They brought us a small dish of duck sauce. We did not and could not eat any part of the chicken after trying to eat the pork rib (thinking it may be more fatty and perhaps not as dry). After making the complaint and sending the chicken back. We politely try to "pay for our dinner" and the manager said that the dishes were supposed to be that way and did US a favor in giving us a discount. They charge for every dish but charged us for half of the chicken. Really? Not only did my family not had the dinner, we had to pay for this experience at a "discount" courtesy of their manager. Please dine there at your own risk. I am sure they must try to make money where and how ever possible. Hopefully they are not serving re-cycled dishes and food. read more

I live around the corner and was excited to see this restaurant come to the neighborhood eagerly waiting to give it a try. We walk by all the time and picked up a menu earlier in the week. Tried ordering for delivery on a Wednesday night figuring it wouldn't be too busy mid week. Called once..... phone rings nobody picks up. Ok maybe they are tied up or I dialed the wrong number. Double checked the number from their menu and tried calling again a minute later..... no answer. Tried calling a 3rd time 10 minutes later..... no answer. First impression FAILURE! If you can't even pick up the phone to acknowledge a customer why do you advertise free delivery? Even if someone picked up and asked if I could hold it would have been acceptable. If you can't acknowledge your customers then your potential customers won't even consider you an option. A shame since my wife and I order takeout and delivery quite often. read more
