    Bund chicken umami
    Kwan C.

This review is for their breakfast addition. Foods are great, especially their new lunch addition of the Bund Burger and their Bund chicken umami, must try. Staff are great and always nice. Price is very very affordable if you are only looking for simple breakfast with good portion and good taste. They have a lot of unique breakfast that kind of different with typical dinner such as breakfast club sandwich, breakfast tacos and their breakfast waffle bowl. They give free coffee with some of their special platter. If you prefer a high end breakfast with higher price, there is dinner bar down the block, but I preferred to dine in the Bund.

The first time I ate here was around the time they first opened and they hosted a Yelp event here. I was impressed then and have eaten takeout from here multiple times since. They specialize in Shanghainese cuisine though they originally carried more unique dishes, they have adapted over the years to accommodate the non-Chinese clientele in the area. Can't blame'em since they gotta make what sells, though a bit of a shame since it seems the chef, restaurant and Chinese cuisine have so much to showcase outside of the more generic staples* that are popular in the US. That being said I can recommend the following: - Shanghainese lions head meatballs $17.95: they make them large and fluffy here, goes great with rice. They took it off the menu for a couple years though brought them back in the last year and a half. - flounder filets in wine sauce $15.95: tender white fish with woodear mushrooms, a little heavy on the sauce thickener though overall tasty and fish never tastes fishy. - "crispy" deep fried flounder $23.95: kinda an American-Chinese take on battered and fried fish, tasty and a large serving that could feed 3-4. Not actually crispy if you take it to go since it's covered in sweet and sour sauce. - kungpao chicken $13.95: a decent preparation here, fair amount of diced chicken, savory with a hint of spicy. - sautéed spinach w/garlic $12.50 or sautéed water spinach with garlic $13.50: simple leafy veggies cooked well. Overall the serving sizes are reasonable for the price and area. Will be back! *general tsou's chicken is not real Chinese food, though I admit sometimes I order this myself and enjoy it :)

Very chewy and looks like old crispy, which is not crispy at all chicken

I used to love this place some time ago. It was one of the best Chinese reataurant in the neighborhood. After the chef was changed- the place got so much worse. I ordered crispy chicken today, which used to be great before. Now its not even possible to eat it- so disgusting. I wish old chef would return or somebody else was hired who can cook better. What a shame!

Soup dumplings had a flavorful broth, though scant in amount; each piece was ok the compact side. The dan dan noodles could've used more minced meat and sauce. The tofu lacked pepper and chili oil and was somewhat bland.

I ordered food delivery for a set time, and the delivery came right on time. The deliveryman was friendly, and it's nice to have such reliable and quick delivery service. It's always so nice to enjoy this food in the comfort of my home. I finally ordered the frozen Pork Dumplings and frozen Crystal Shrimp Dumplings. The pork dumplings had thick skin but was stuffed full of filling. Shrimp dumplings are my favorite order at dim sum, and I have a specific preferred flavor when it comes to crystal shrimp dumplings. These had that exact kind of flavor, so I was happy to find a delivery place that has good ones. There are whole shrimp pieces with skin that wasn't too thick or thin. The Pan Fried Pork Soup Dumplings were just as good as they were last time, but the Pan Fried Pork Buns surprisingly had just as much soup -- or was it just juiciness? -- as the Pan Fried Pork Soup Dumplings. Both have their different flavors, but I liked the Pan Fried Pork Bun flavor more. The bun was soft but not too thick.

The food is good but not too special. The soup dumpling skins were well made and thin, with a lot of soup inside, but the meat didn't have a great texture. The duck was solid, a little on the oily side for my tastes. The red bean puffs tasted good but weren't quite crispy enough.

The Bund had grand opening for their new American classic breakfast today, small and reasonable priced menu.

Just went to tried their Bund Toast, sooo delicious , they have cute menu, and their price so affordable especially with their 20% off, but is limited only.

Oh, and that's supposed to be the spicy chicken with hot peppers. Horrible. 3/9/25. Horrible.

Really great place for soup dumplings or xiao lung bao. I also enjoyed their other dishes like eggplant in garlic sauce.

The filling was decent, but the vinegar on the side was too mild. I'm used to a darker, more robust vinegar with XLB, so this didn't quite hit. Braised pork - very tender and flavorful, served with quail eggs. This was one of the stronger dishes. Yangzhou fried rice - not too oily which I liked, but served with only 5 an small shrimps... Sweet & sour shredded potato (cold dish) - slightly spicy, I really enjoyed this one. It was part of a promo where you can get it for $1 when you spend $30 on entrees, so definitely worth adding. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. Not everything stood out, but it's solid enough that I'd recommend it, and I'd come back to try more of the menu.

However, recently it's been hit or miss. Today was both - the garlic pork belly cold dish was super tasty! The garlic chili oil was spicy, sweet and fragrant. The pork bun ( I have eaten at almost every establishment that serves pork buns in flushing) was disgusting. The pork was almost grey and the it smelled like it was a day away from spoiling. It's really hard to justify a bad experience like this when there are literal hundreds of flushing vendors that serve the exact same cuisine with better quality control. Catch me a Zie Wei Xiao Chi next time I'm in the mood for a pork bun.

And more: cold dish - garlic cucumbers to start. Classic soup dumplings (pork filling). I usually do not order the crab meat or other varieties as those seem gimmicky. The restaurant gives you a free order of pork dumplings with dine-in purchase of $20+. This visit I did try a new noodle dish - egg noodles with crab roe. It was interesting indeed. While I've had better crab roe toppings (this one was a bit greasy//oily for me) I can see why they added it to the menu. It's been a trend. The Peking Duck and crispy skin pork are still my go to dishes when coming here. It's just not easy to make at home so I'm happy to buy it. Totally classic dishes. We also ordered the beef pancakes which is also a great sharing plate. This spot is a keeper. The entire staff was professional and courteous, but the manager, Leo, truly stood out. He has always been warm and welcoming. Over the years, we've even had the chance to chat in our dialect, Shanghainese, on several occasions. He consistently goes out of his way to make sure guests feel well taken care of. Tonight, my husband ordered the General Tso's chicken, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Of course, I couldn't resist ordering a little too much for myself-- fried bean gluten, mixed vegetables, pan fried udon noodles, and brine squid. As always, they sent out complimentary steamed pork soup dumplings and, to finish, two sweet fermented glutinous rice soups for dessert. I even had leftovers--udon noodles and fried bean gluten--for lunch tomorrow. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and carried a deep sense of nostalgia--the flavors truly brought me back to where I grew up in Shanghai. Needless to say, we left very happy and will definitely be back again soon.

As I entered the restaurant, the ambiance felt like I was going to a quaint location in rural China. The decor and waterfall added a nice needed touch. The Peking duck comes with sugar, pineapple, hoisin cucumber. The peking duck was overdone by a tiny bit. It was light and clean but was a very forgettable dish The Lotus root stuff with rice was an appetizer that really caught my eye by how it it looked It had a cold sweet glaze like a Chinese flower royal jelly. I was saddened that it looked much smaller than I expected. It was cut very thinly which allowed the glaze to cover it all but I wish it was a bit thicker so you could taste and feel more of the lotus root The Pumpkin w cheese was tasty but a little drying on tongue from how it was fried The sliced potato dish was a dish I have not tried before but was a bit of a let down. The Potato just tastes like a mild chili oil Nothing much The fried rice was very enjoyable. It was a bit on the oily side but that also allowed it to be cooked in a way that gives it a good wok hei. Even though the rice felt a bit oily, the dish as a whole felt very light The flavor of the fried rice was also very good. The eggs in the rice could be better. It felt a bit over cooked and the pieces felt a bit too big in it. The pork belly cube came with hawthorn in a bright red sauce the flavor was nothing special. The cubes were also too big so the flavor of the sauce doesn't soak through. Flavor is barely there other than just pork Mapo tofu was very basic and felt lacking in meat.it also doesn't come with white rice which is very integral to the sacuiness of mapo tofu. For dessert I got the fried rice cake. It was very brown sugar/ molasses forward. Even though it had a nice soft bite to it, the flavor of molasses hid any depth of flavor it had. Everything felt nice to eat, felt very fresh and light. The presentation was very pleasant but the flavors did not live up to the presentation.
