They are the only ones in Forest Hills and Rego Park to offer this option. While frozen supermarket dumplings cost 75% less, a $20 of frozen siu mai is a standard restaurant price for bulk packs of good frozen dim sum dumplings. Forest Hills has been in search for a good take-out chinese spot since the OG Oriental Palace (Where Asian Fortune is now lcoated) closed its doors over 5 years ago. The agony of losing the best take-out chinese food has taken a toll on me resulting in me eating significantly less chinese food. The Bund has come along and is helping mend those fresh wounds. I find myself eating more chinese food after a long hiatus all thanks to the tasty food that The Bund is putting out. The other night we ordered Bund for delivery and were extremely happy with the food that we got. We ordered chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce, Fried dumplings, and a wonton soup. Everything we ordered tasted exactly how we wanted it to taste. What more could you want from a chinese restaurant? We opted for the Chicken + Eggplant in an attempt to be slightly healthier, otherwise we would have ordered General Tso's chicken for the full glory. We have been eating food from this restaurant for about a year and a half now. The food is always very fresh hot tasty and well prepared. Most of the dishes we've had are delicious. They specialize in Dim sum, shu mai, dumplings and wontons. The wontons with the peanut sauce and the chili oil is to die for. Two dishes will set you back 25 to $30. They deliver through most of the online delivery apps. My only complaint was that when you ask them to add chicken to a vegetarian dish the amount of chicken they give you is very very small. So upsetting to know that such good food comes from a kitchen full of cockroaches. We go with our family to eat in the restaurant and what comes served to us, with our very last dish? A dumpling tray with a cockroach running around on the lid. We yell over to the guy and say look at this and all he does is take the piece with the bug as if we we're going to eat anything after that. We lost our appetite completely. This has never ever happened to my husband and I and we are disgusted by this horrific situation. After knowing and seeing this we will no longer be coming to this restaurant. The Beijing noodle with meat sauce was a huge disappointment, I literally paid $6 for noodles with one tablespoon of meat sauce (See photos) , my wife was angry that. I didn't order for Cuzco the Peruvian place 2 blocks down because all he entrees came in small servings . We had been searching for a place in Queens that has good Chinese dumplings. We finally came across The Bund. I'm so very glad that we did. You walk in and and it's a relatively small restaurant. We had arrived just as the lunch menu was ending. They have quite an extensive menu. A lot of it sounds weird to be honest with you but we have it a shot any who. We started off with the Wontons in a spicy chili sauce. They were so good!! They had fresh cilantro as a garnish on top which completed the flavors. Then I got the Bund pork and crab soup dumplings. They came with a sauce that was nice and tangy. The flavors of the dumplings were outstanding. The pastry was thin and just perfect. He got the Pork Noodle Soup. It was spicy and delicious. A little bit oily but it was ok. I then got the red bean ice cream for dessert. That was also amazing. The only thing I can say that was a minor let down is that the tea that they brought to the table on the beginning was lukewarm. That is the only thing that was a negative. Dumpling filling lacked flavour and not enough soup drippings. Though I prefer dumpling dough to be thin, it was so thin that it rips apart as I picked it up. I first visited Bund at a Yelp Elite event in February 2017. My daughter and her boy friend were taking my wife out for a birthday dinner. When they told me they were taking her to Bund and asked me to join them I jumped at the opportunity. This would be my second taste of Shanghainese cuisine and I wanted to try their food at a non Yelp event. I would have given Bund 5 stars but deducted a star for our server's attitude, she acted like we were keeping her from other things. Her other failures are noted below. The restaurant was fairly busy but we had no problem getting a table for four. My daughter had ordered from Bund in the past and really like their cold noodles in sesame sauce so we started with that. It was very good with properly cooked noodles and a delicious sauce. The sauce left our plates very dirty and should have been taken away without my having to ask for them to be replaced. I did not want to put my dumplings into peanut sauce. Though it might have helped the dumplings, read on. One of the things that impressed me at the Yelp event was the Pork w. Shredded Vegetable and Bean Curd Soup so we ordered it for the table. Everyone liked the soup, even my daughter's finicky boy friend. The broth reminded me of a good egg drop soup but instead of the egg it's chock full of bean curd, shredded pork and greens. Next we ordered some pork soup dumplings. This was something that I had wanted to try at the Yelp event but they did not serve us any that night. My first experience with soup dumplings did not move me they were just OK. After reading other Yelp reviews I now realized that our server did not give us the vinegar or spicy dipping sauces. The pork was good as was the small amount of broth inside the dumpling but I'd rather save room for something more substantial. Perhaps had we been given the dipping sauces that might have brought this over the top for me. I liked the Kung Pao chicken with shrimps and peanuts. This was very tasty and even though there were pieces of red chilies in it, it was not spicy at all. Just flavorful. The boy friend ordered beef lo mein, it was also very good. My daughter was curious about the shrimp with green tea sauce so she ordered some. What arrived at the table were whole shrimps in a very tasty sauce. This is a very sloppy dish to eat as the shrimp need to be peeled and there is no way to peel them without using yer fingers. Be sure to ask for plenty of napkins. This dish should also come with wet naps for cleaning your fingers. Also after reading other Yelp reviews I also realized that our server did not bring us any sliced oranges for desert as mentioned in other reviews. My second venture to Bund was a very nice experience. My wife wants to go back. When we do I will want to order some of the things I tried at the Yelp event. Overall this is a favorite takeout spot of ours, and its Yelp rating right now (3.5 stars as I'm writing) is too low. Certainly one of the best places for takeout in the area. We love soup dumplings, and there are a lot of places in the area that do a great job with them, but The Bund has the best ones for takeout. The proportions on the dumplings are excellent, they're flavorful, and they're the perfect size. Compared to other soup dumplings in the area, we've noticed that the skin on these is just a bit thicker. It makes a big difference by making them easier to handle, especially when they're stuck together and you're pulling them apart in a takeout tray. Apart from the soup dumplings, they do a pretty good job with our favorites. My preference is their Chicken and Eggplant dish, which I compare to an upgraded version of Spy C's excellent garlic eggplant dish. My girlfriend loves the Mapo Tofu, which has a decent kick to it. One last good thing that is a little funny is that whenever we takeout, no matter what we order, the food is insanely hot (to the touch). I don't know what this place does in particular to make it this way, and it's definitely more so than other places. It actually makes for a perfect take out place because it's *always* still very hot by the time we get it home, even if it takes us 30+ minutes. Came with our Chinese relatives, some of who thought this was the best Chinese food in the city. As one put it, we must come back, it's not an option! I'm not sure if the locals realize that they're not eating standard Chinese food, but they may be sorely disappointed having ate at one of the best. We had the chilled chicken in wine sauce that some in our family thought was the best dish of the night. It's more of an acquired dish as it's cold, but they loved it. Garlic cucumber was simple, but also excellent. The pan fried pork dumplings, peking duck were good but perhaps not the house specialty. The sliced beef in szechuan chili and peppercorn oil came in a nice homey glass bowl as if someone had made it for the family. Very spicy, however, and perhaps a bit less interesting than the other dishes. The pork soup dumplings were excellent with a thin wrapping around delicious juice. The crispy flounder filet in sweet and sour was an absolute must. Wonderfully flaky fish with a crisp outside doused in sweet and sour sauce. The Shanghainese sauteed udon with beef may be the best we've had in the tri-state area. Amazing flavor, slightly sweet. Cannot wait for another excuse to go back! The Bund was not bad as a sit in Chinese restaurant. They also had a nice "get a free soda if you spend $10" deal. The place looks great, I'd give it that. The atmosphere was very nice but I think it should have excluded the extra cultural items. So the story goes: I was looking for a Vietnamese Pho place on Queens Blvd before picking up my friend. It was cold and pho would definitely have hit the spot. So the fact that they offered pho was a serendipitous moment. Unfortunately, it didn't taste like authentic pho like you would get in an actual Vietnamese restaurant. By adding adding big pieces of onions and not having a well-prepared beef broth, it really tasted off. My friend ordered the chicken broccoli with white rice. You can't really go wrong with chicken broccoli since it's a safe choice. It seems like dumplings and their noodle soups are big sellers. Luncheon specials are very good little bit on the smaller size but filling. Entrees on the other hand nice size. There were some growing pains in the first few months of opening, as with most new businesses, however they've come a long way and have decreased their wait time and increased service. Finally ate at The Bund last weekend. They have probably the best Chinese food in the Forest Hills area (excluding Flushing of course). Their veggie dumplings and soup dumplings are both flavorful. The mapo tofu is delicious (and made without meat so it's vegetarian) and the flounder and cabbage soup was very good too. We also shared the rice balls in broth dessert which was interesting with an odd floral note to the broth. My friend wished it had some red bean in the dessert but it didn't. Great decor and I liked the paintings of the Bund street views in China. The lighting was a bit bright for evening dining - would have been nice if they dimmed the lights a little to add more ambiance. Service was attentive. Found glass in my scrambled egg beef chow fun and bit the glass in half thinking it was probably an egg shell. Good thing I examined it and took it out of my mouth before swallowing the glass. My boyfriend found this on Yelp and I was just so intrigued by the name "The Bund" so I had to try it out. Compared to many authentic Chinese restaurants, their interior design and display is pretty fancy. They have Eastern displays but arranged in a western style. We came here at 7 PM and on Google, it said that this was the peak hour. However, half the restaurant was empty and we were seated pretty quickly. The waiters and waitresses were quick to take orders and to respond to anything we needed. Since there were so few customers, the 6 staff including chefs were sitting in the back watching TV. I felt as if we had a brief bonding moment where all of us were watching TV together and laughing at how bad one of the celebrity all stars game was. The soup dumplings were excellent! We finally found a great place near Forest Hills that actually have soup dumplings; we'll definitely come back here again. We also ordered the pork and sour cabbage noodle soup. This was such a disappointment. The food was good, but there was so much oil and MSG that my boyfriend had a stomach ache that night. For someone like me who grew up eating a lot of MSG, I didn't have any stomach problems. I just had to drink water every 5 minutes to quench my thirst. The broth to me tasted a little bland, but they then brought out a small portion of spicy sauce that gave it some additional flavor. Though it was not all that spicy. The soup had plenty of noodles and were cooked perfectly. I stuffed myself full. Overall the dish was pretty decent and for a reasonable price. I was a bit confused about the place setting of silverware and no chopsticks in a shangainese restaurant. We had to request them. I'm glad this place opened up, offering some real Chinese dishes (from Shanghai). That means starting off with an order or two of soup dumplings! The soup dumpling quality of places in Queens have skyrocketed due to many places opening up to that offer competing quality to Joe's Shanghai chains, like Kung Fu Dumpling in flushing and Little Dumpling in Little Neck (both are a must try). The soup dumplings here are more than decent to satisfy our craving! Good soup, tasty meat (yes it is supposed to be "soggy" instead of a meatball texture so it absorbs and compliments the soup inside. The skin isn't the thinnest, but is good enough to hold everything in place without breaking or being too thick. Try both the regular pork flavor and the one with crab meat added. Try some of the cold appetizers, and finish off with some stir fry or soup noodles. I have to say, the stew beef noodle soup was too salty, but the shredded pork and pepper soup noodles was just right. So maybe certain dishes can be improved. I have to reinforce though, that the steamed buns were not too salty at all, and had good flavor, so at least we know this place isn't simply heavy handed with the seasoning and is able to create balanced flavors. Will be back to try more. However I advise skipping the generic Chinese takeout lunch specials and go with stuff you don't normally see on takeout menus! read more
