I'm going to be a little rough here for a couple of reasons. I think this place has huge potential, and by how busy it seems to get they already seem to have a huge following. My thing is in the Chicagoland area we have epic gourmet burger choices like Kuma's Corner and DMK Burger. I personally think this place as far as the burger itself goes is not as good and also happens to be higher priced. That being said I'm not totally out and will be back but I'm going to be judging when you're hitting me with this price point. Ok moving on... Pros: -atmosphere is great. Can't wait for the rooftop addition -nice craft beer selection -fried pickles were so so good -staff was on top of it despite being packed -they had a specialty burger of the week. Stuffed with cheese and jalapeños and then covered in more jalapeños. I wish this was a regular menu option bc yum Cons: -Pitmaster...this was the absolute lamest BBQ bacon burger I have ever had and I think it was like $15. -I think this is a preference thing but why so much meat? The Burger Social is a nice looking place, and serves a good burger to boot. I ordered a Lumberjack burger with truffle fries, if only because I liked the audacity of serving a burger on waffles (and the fried egg appealed to me!) And I liked it. The best thing about the burger is the quality of the beef, which is cooked perfectly medium (without asking me, but that's OK). It comes with gouda, bacon (yummy and a touch smoky), the egg, and of course the waffles. And it's missing at least two things from being a great burger; I think it was underseasoned, with everything sort of combining to be generically rich and creamy. Not the worst thing in the world but it does need another dimension of flavor. Secondly, offering light and crispy waffles without even a small side of maple syrup is a missed opportunity, as their texture was great but I couldn't detect any sweetness in them, which I expected. I quite liked the fries, which had hearty doses of truffle oil and parmesan sprinkled on top. To my surprise my younger daughter's chicken tenders were well-made; rolled in real panko and pan-fried to deep brown. They were also perfectly seasoned. This was our first time here. Other reviews that spoke to the Covid precautions in place made our decision to try them out. I told the guy seating us that I'm still nervous being around people. He was very considerate and sat us in the upper level patio area. But on to the food! So many wonderful things to chose from beyond the amazing and creative burger options. We went for a the barbacoa and the naan burgers. Amazing!!! I kind of felt they should offer to hose you down afterwards! Best kind of mess. The fries were fantastic, my husband even continued to eat them after his burger was gone which never happens. I was a bit disappointed in the onion rings. The coating was flavorful and crunchy but the onion itself was that tough outer layer of the onion which is unpleasant to try to eat. We WILL be back though, the salmon salad sounded amazing and there are many more burgers to try! read more

The Burger Social has been in Wheaton for a few years. When they first started they were very good. The food was always served hot and fresh, service was attentive and the drink menu was better than most. We always left feeling like it was money well spent. Things were different last night. We had reservations and were seated within 10 minutes...it was busy and loud so we expected that. Despite that we were greeted by our server within 20 seconds of sitting down (amazing), but well before we had a chance to look at the menu. We gave a drink order and asked for a couple of minutes to look at the menu. 5 minutes later the first of three beers arrived and we placed our appetizer and food order. 15 minutes after that we got the remaining two beers. They were no longer cold. 20 minutes after that our food arrived at the same time as the fried pickle appetizer. Everything was barely warm by this point. The fries were nearly room temperature and far over salted. The bottom buns of the burgers were soggy wet from sitting in the burger juices and runny toppings for so long. It was clear that our food and beers had been sitting for quite some time before someone noticed and brought our orders to the table. Our waiter never reappeared at our table after taking the appetizer / food order either....turns out that he was also tending bar upstairs. The bill was over $100 for the four of us. Fantastic establishment! I ordered the Smash Wagyu burger with a side salad (Burger social dressing). The burger was cooked to perfection. It was juicy, flavorful, and had perfect texture. The fried egg and chipotle mayo blended beautifully with the patty and thick sliced bacon. What more could you want in a hamburger! My side salad was also quite delicious. Crisp, fresh greens, ripe red onions, and a tangy house made vinaigrette dressing. The outdoor seating was amazing. I had a great time! read more

Would love to see even more non-beef and veggie burger options. It's a busy place so make a reservation if you are going on a busy weekend. We' ve been to the Burger Social 3 times and each time the service has gotten worse. The first time was a Saturday afternoon and everything was great. Service, drinks, food....all great and we couldn't wait to go back. The next time was as a Saturday night. The service was slower, but they we very busy so we gave them a pass. Food was okay but had the apperance of being "thrown together ". Definitely not the great experience we first had. We tried again about 2 weeks later on a Friday night. Since we knew how busy they get we called and made a reservation. It was a Friday night and we were celebrating a very special occasion. It couldn't have been a worse experience. The hostess was borderline rude and sat us at a terrible table after informing us that there is a one and a half hour limit to the table. It took forever for the server to come to our table because he was also waiting on a large party out on the patio. It was obvious that he couldn't handle our table. Service was non existent, the appetizer was burned and had to be sent back, the burger was okay but the tacos were terrible. I was so disappointed and this really ruin what was supposed to be a celebration. Not sure if we'll give it another try.... read more

Nothing extraordinary, this is a basic burger joint. Burgers are good but a bit dry. The menu offers a variety of burger choices but nothing really stands out. Fries are ok too. Burger Social has excellent burgers! I really enjoyed the very fresh taste of the beef, seemingly fresh ingredients such as the mushrooms, blue cheese, and perfectly grilled onions. There are other options if you are not a burger fan! We braved some cold and rainy weather to check this place out. We sat upstairs and it was cold. Like keep your coat on cold, so that kind of jaded my experience. We started with fried pickles and they were hot and fresh, but we thought the topping was bland. Like shake and bake bland. I had a the southern BLT while hubby had a grilled cheese with al pastor meat in it. Both our sandwiches were hot, fresh and unique. The bread was toasted but not hard as a rock. We also ordered the Parmesan fries that other yelpers raved about. We couldn't put our fingers on it, but there was too much of something. Not cheese, but some other spices that seemed over powering. Please note this place is always crowded. We visited on a Saturday at 1pm and had to share a table. There are no reservations and I have heard stories about waits exceeding an hour. I can't even imagine what it will be when they open the rooftop. While our food was good, I really need it to be fabulous, something I can't get anywhere else for me to wait that long. I had a late dinner with my daughter and SIL on a Thursday night. The place was busy but we got a table upstairs with no wait. I wish they had more outdoor tables. The server arrived promptly and was very good about keeping an eye on us. The burgers are incredibly good. I had a basic burger with bacon and loved every bite. My daughter did the same and we finished every crumb. The fries are way too tasty for any diet. My SIL had the Social Salad and added the steak. The meat was on the wrong side of rare, almost raw. He returned it and it came back one side cooked but the other still raw. Too bad. That was the one drawback we had. The bill was appropriate. The bar is plentiful. Worth a stop. read more

Most importantly question to me is: Would we go back? Yes, we will! We had an early dinner here on a Saturday with a couple friends. They arrived a few minutes before we did and snagged us a high top table against the front window. When we arrived there were still tables available, but within fifteen minutes, it was packed and people were waiting. We got pretty lucky with our arrival time. The service was pretty good for such a busy spot. While we did have empty glasses from time to time, the server did make an effort to come back and did make a few suggestions along the way. The suggested cocktails are $10 each and beer varies in price. The overall prices for most things are a little higher than average for this area, but the quality, variety and creativity (in many cases) seemed to make it worth it. My hubby's buddy tried a few cocktails and my hubby and my friend sampled the beers. Overall, everyone was pleased with the variety. We started with the fried cauliflower and pretzel bites. Both were good. Cauliflower taking the top spot in my book! I wish the dipping sauces were in cups rather than smeared on the plate because the pieces of cauliflower had moved all over the plate by the time it made it to us so we didn't really get to choose what we tasted. But it was yummy, so now I just know to ask for it to not be smeared next time. Everyone liked the pretzel dipping cheese, but I gravitate away from most cheese so I stuck to the spicy sauce. It was pretty tasty! Around the table we tried the Mac n cheese stuffed burger that was on special, a philly patty melt, fries, onions rings, a burger with bacon, grilled onions and bbq sauce and one more burger that I cannot recall. Everything tasted great!! My only criticism would be that my Burger and onion rings didn't make it to the table while they were hot. It was a disappointment, but because it actually tasted so good and I didn't want to either wait for them to remake my food and be stuck eating alone or risk them microwaving it, I ate it as it was. I just think it was done before the rest and cooled off a bit. The atmosphere is fun and a great spot to catch up with friends, have a few drinks and eat some quality food. Welcome to wheaton Burger Social! Have been waiting a bit for this place to open and it's a great addition to wheaton. Way better than burger local in Geneva. The apps were tasty and were delivered quickly. We shared the cauliflower tots and pretzel bites. More than enough for four people. Had the bison burger with cheese fries. Yum! Dare I say more tasty than Montana Teds? Excellent flavor. The fries were crispy and paired perfectly with the cheese. It's not your cheese whiz garbage either, it is creamy and I could have licked the tin clean and might have just that as well. We had a few different beers, shots and vodka tonics. All of the hard drinks were poured with a heavy hand, which was appreciated. Atmosphere is casual and relaxing. Great spot for a group or a solo stop after work to decompress. The restaurant it's self is great. Love the decor, and options of food and drinks! The beers on tap are great, their cocktails are fun and unique! We ordered the Cauliflower tots, they were fantastic (I usually cannot get my BF to eat anything with cauliflower) . Sadly I looked at all the yelp reviews AFTER ordering... I love the banzi burger just at Red Robin... like it's my FAVORITE. So I saw they had something similar and I was very excited.... until I saw the review, and I 100% agree with the previous review.... There was no teriyaki taste, The pineapple was not sweet at all... and the mayo was tasteless. It was as if I was eating a plain burger. Which sucked.... I had to put a low of mustard and ketchup on to make it taste like something. Don't get this burger!!!! We are coming back next week on a double date; I will try a different burger and update the review! read more

Tap..Tap..Tap.. The sound my foot made waiting the months for this place to open! So my expectations were for great food and a fun atmosphere.. I also thought the menu would have a lot of the same things as their Geneva location : "The Burger Local" I was mostly right. The appetizers were excellent as well as the burgers.. but the menu.... (breaking out in my best Ernie singing voice).."One of these things is not like the other..." First of all.. No Tater Tots! *gasp* I guess that I'll still have to go to Geneva once in a while to have those... The Deviled Egg appetizer does not have lobster.. which caused some distress.. until we tried the Pesto Deviled Eggs with crispy prosciutto.. they might actually be better! The Pretzel Bites come with two sauces.. the Beer Cheese and the Kimchi... both were excellent.. and the Pretzel Bites themselves were tender and just a little chewy.. a perfect texture to dip. No green chili with hominy at this location.. but they make up for it with an excellent brisket chili with nice chunks of brisket.. delicious! I got the Italian Beef Burger.. It's a 10 oz burger with Italian Beef piled on top, on a pretzel bun with Giardiniera and Au Jus on the side.. delicious! Real world problem? The giardiniera needs to be added to each bite.. otherwise it just falls off the burger. Lisa got the Beerfest Burger.. kind of what you'd picture.. a 10 oz burger (pretzel roll) with a split bratwurst, sauerkraut, onion ring and beer cheese on top! She loved it.. said she may need to get it again next time! They did a great job with a relatively small space, not a lot of table space on the first floor but there is a second bar and more tables upstairs. The spring and summer will be nice, they will be able to open the whole front of the restaurant and there are two outdoor areas on the second floor as well. A quick shout out to Olivia, she was attentive and enthusiastic.. we enjoyed having her as our server. It's a solid win. read more

Not only was the food and drinks amazing here but the service too. I noticed online that there was a "surprise me mule," and being the lover of mules I am, I asked for that. Zach, my server and bartender, hooked me up with 2 of the best mules i've ever had and impeccable service. The upstairs bar area had a super nice view of the downtown Wheaton area and I couldn't have enjoyed my time there more. Make sure to get a surprise mule to really see the bartending skills there, and can't go wrong with any of their selections of burgers! read more

Fun environment and decent food. Better than your average Miller Ale House with creative burger menus options. Overall it's my opinion that the burger was over-priced. As I broke down the price of the bun and toppings assuming a x3 mark up and without knowning the blend of meat I just couldn't get to the price I was paying for my burger. Overall the meat was very under seasoned if at all but it was a perfect medium rare. It's a clean and friendly restaurant in a fun location. The food was fine. Been here a few times and the food is generally okay to good, but my last visit ordering the chicken gyro burger was a mistake. The bun was wet upon arrival, and the patty was grey, dry, and under-seasoned. Overall, a total miss, which is particularly unfortunate when you're charging $16. Meanwhile, the server didn't seem to take notice that it went uneaten after a couple of bites and I didn't take a box, which is consistent with what I'd describe as the "unbothered" service I've experienced there before. read more

One of my favorite burger places in the suburbs. The cauliflower appetizer is always a go to. Typically build my own burger but last visit had the Philly Cheesesteak burger which was very good and very cheesy. Good fries, onion rings, sides. Tough to find a comfortable spot to be seated in our opinion. We made reservations for Friday at 7:15 and were initially seated upstairs in the overflow vinyl covered porch area. No thanks. It was January and 12 degrees outside so we decided to ask for a better location. The hostess was very accommodating and put us on the first floor up front near the entrance. The glass barrier up front helps reduce wind but the blast of cold air every 10 seconds was unpleasant during our entire meal. Never mind the freezing homeless man standing in the entrance trying to get warm and watch us eat. We felt bad for the fellow and hope he is staying warm. Cooper is a good server. Staff is super nice and helpful. Food was good but not great over priced in my opinion. $75 for 2 burgers and 3 beers with tip. If you're going make sure you get a reservation well in advanced - 1 week minimum. After giving the place two different tries, we are done. Good staff but the layout and prices are not for worth the hassle or cost in our opinion. I'll check a few different places if I'm in for another gourmet burger on a pretzel bun. read more
