Both were made to perfection We asked for popular appetizers and opted for the Fried Pickles, they were good but when you bite into them they would come out of the fried shelling. Delicious! My friend and I were in the area and looked for a place for lunch. We came here because of the good reviews and it didn't disappoint. It was a hot day, so we sat inside, but the windows were open and it was very comfortable. We both got burgers and fries and they were delicious!! I got the mushroom + bleu and she got the pitmaster. The buns, burgers, and toppings were all perfect. The fries had a seasoning on them that was so good and I also got a side of ranch that tasted homemade. This is a nice little burger joint in downtown Wheaton. When my friend and I arrived we were told there was no wait for the downstairs area, but then we had to stand around awkwardly blocking the narrow entrance pathway for 5-10 minutes while they cleaned off a few tables. I played it safe with a sangria, and my friend ordered the burr-berry cocktail, which looked delicious. I was actually surprised at what seemed like a limited menu/ burger selection. I was hoping for some more options that were a little less adventurous. I went with the Mushroom & bleu burger, which was good. Love that they have pretzel buns! This place was a let down. While not terrible, no component of the experience makes you seriously consider returning once all is said and done. Atmosphere: The sort of cross between an older style hipster bar and rustic look is alright. It's nice enough for what Burger Social is. The real downside is that the front is completely open even though all the seating is indoors, so on cooler nights you need a jacket because they don't turn up the heat. Service: Service was substandard. The waitress didn't bring us plates or silverware until well after our appetizers arrived. They also did not check in on us to see if we needed refills. When I did ask for a refill, my restaurant service pet peeve was hit, she promptly forgot about my beverage and never brought it. That's a two star deduction. Absolutely unacceptable, especially considering she never bothered to check in on us. Food: Here we go... I ordered a "social" burger, which is their regular burger option. It was overcooked. I ordered medium, but it was pretty much well done. The beef was okay, but dry and bland due to it being cooked too much. The fries were not good at all. The fries were not fresh looking, quite old and wrinkly in appearance, and they tasted like it. What a shame, Burger Social, what a shame. Like the decor, the service and the food. Went just before 5pm on a snowy Friday and it was just starting to fill up. We asked(and were given) a seat by the TV to watch the Northwestern game. For future reference, the spot in the front by the partition is not ideal. Lots of cold air from the door (which we anticipated) but more annoying was the line of people that formed waiting to be seated that basically sat and stared at our food. As for the food - pretzel bites were SO good. Not too heavy, really just right. Kids Mac n cheese with carrots and celery was perfect. Plain burger and fries also very good - tasty without being greasy. Black bean burger (has a fancy name I can't remember) was excellent. Take a trip to a fun area of Chicago while not even leaving Wheaton. Excellent bar with a large craft brew list. As for the hamburgers, they are delicious. Big, juicy, and delicious with a number of alternative ingredients. If you haven't called ahead, decide to eat elsewhere. Apparently those who call ahead are placed ahead of people who actually show up to get on the waitlist. I've been here a few times and I generally like it. Burgers are good, I like the atmosphere ... but man, I would avoid this place like the plague if you're planning on going on Friday or Saturday night. Last weeked we went there and called ahead to check in. We left our name/number and they said it was currently 15-25 minute wait. We got there about 10 minutes later, and now the wait time had jumped to 45 minutes ... We had a few drinks at the bar, and after an hour we were told we were the "next table" ... We finally got seated after 1 hour and 15 minutes. If I would have known it was going to take that long I would have never gone. So either they are terrible at estimating wait times, or intentionally underestimating them so you come in anyway ... Either way, it blows. read more

My review doesn't reflect the food, but a mix up. My sister ordered the salmon salad, but thought it would be $10.00 without the salmon. She saw the $10.00 underneath, and mistook it for the price. She got her salad, it was just lettuce, a few pumpkin seeds and no meat. She was charged $16.00! She told the waitress who was nice, that she thought the salad was $10.00 because there was no meat. She went over and asked the blond receptionist, and she said no, you pay $16.00 without grilled salmon on it. That is too much money. read more

Although the food was good it was not accessible for a person with a disability. My husband is disabled, there was no working elevator to get to the second floor. The bathroom was not accessible, my husband was stuck in the men's bathroom. I spoke with the manager and was informed she was aware and was going to get it fixed tomorrow. No excuse, the dining experience humiliated my husband. He wants to be as independent as possible and would expect a restaurant as good as Burger Social to be in compliance. read more

Great place to take friends and family when they're in town. Love it because when people ask what they should get, you can just tell them "everything is good," and you'll be right. Holding off on giving it 5 stars because they can struggle with the amount of volume that comes through the restaurant. We have mentioned some staff issues here in the past and after several positive visits it now ended up bad again. Our nephew from California was in town so we wanted to take him, some friends and family out to this place. Made a pre-cal reservation for 11 people and received a text message confirming that. Arriving there that evening 5 minutes before time we were told that they just gave our table away to another group that showed up and unfortunately they don't have other large tables so if we could come back in 1.5 to 2 hours. Clearly we spend our evening and money elsewhere. This is how you loose customers as a business. Shame as it could be a great addition to Wheaton if it only would be managed good. read more

Nice burger bar in downtown Wheaton. Decor is nice. Good beer and bourbon selection. Ordered buffalo wings and onion rings to start. Onion rings could use some work. The actual onion was pretty greasy and small in comparison to all the breading. wings are very standard. Not bad not amazing. Pretty middle of the road. Ordered the diner burger with two 4oz patties. The meat was juicy and overall the burger was tasty. Main critique from all four people in our group was that the pretzel bun was too dense. They must heat them on the grill and they need to be hotter so the pretzelness of it comes through more. Made it seem like there was way more bread than needed. Bacon is thick cut and looks delicious but didn't bring any smokyness or extra flavor to the burger. At one point I forgot it was even on there. One last critique were the pickles on there. They were cold as if they just came out of the fridge. Not a lot of places think of that but nothing worse than biting into a hot burger and getting a cold pickle bite. Just a personal peeve of mine. Five of us dined at the burger, social in early March. A nice restaurant nicely appointed. Food was excellent, burgers were great, prices were reasonable! Only one issue to be aware of: Like a lot of other restaurants, Burger Social uses a third-party app to make reservations. I find in general that these apps are not very patron friendly so be careful. I made a reservation specifically for the first floor at a certain time and they tried to put us upstairs in a much less desirable location because our table was still occupied when we got there. I told the hostess that I would wait for our 6:30 reservation. At 7 o'clock, the people at the table had still not left and I was getting a little unhappy as Burger Social has a strict 1 1/2 hour time limit per party and they were on their second hour. Finally at about 7:15 the manager walked up and asked the folks to pack up and leave, that they were over their time limit which they did. Wish they would've done that about a half an hour or so earlier. Don't really like standing in the middle of the restaurant for 45 minutes with five people waiting for a table to get emptied out. read more

This is an updated review. When this restaurant first opened, it was rocking on all cylinders. The food, service, and atmosphere where in synch. The last two times we have been there, unfortunately the outcomes has been the same disappointing outcome. While there are still good moments, the lack of consistency takes this restaurant down to an average or below experience. Their burgers were over cooked last time and both times their food timing took far too long. The service effort is there but it depends on where and who you get. Probably one of the best burgers joint I've been to in a long time. They have a small menu, so I expected everything to be good or at least I hoped. Me and my wife was not disappointed at all. We ordered the nacho burger, diner burger and wings. We started with wings, at first my wife wasn't even hungry, that was until she saw the wings lol. We ordered the bourbon wings and they were BOMB, could've had a bit more heat but that's a preference as we could've ordered the hot wings but we will for NEXT TIME. Then it was the burgers , and here comes this lovely moist 10oz patty cooked medium to perfection. I can only say absolutely delicious. We were fighting to finish them as we didn't want to waste any of it. We came in for a weekday business lunch, calling ahead for (6) people. We were seated right away, and our server (forgot his name - TJ? - sorry, great guy!) was on top of getting our drink orders and helping us decide on what we wanted for food. Our drinks came right away, but we waited over 1/2 hour for our meals. The food did come hot, and for the most part was fairly flavorful. In talking with my lunchmates, it seems no one was 'wowed' by their meal. Decent, but not fantastic. I tried the Buffalo Burger, which was a mix of buffalo and pork. Having had genuine buffalo burgers before, this one seemed like it was something like 2/3-3/4 pork, and only a little bit of buffalo meat. Moderately flavorful, and overall fairly well done, though not fantastic. Once we were done with the meal, again quite a wait. We drove 10 minutes each way to get to Burger Social, and it took us 1:45 total for a meal. This is far too long, and unfortunately, we can't do this again for a mid-day meal. For evenings, or when you have the time to spend, the experience should be pretty good, overall! read more

Downtown Wheaton is a cool area and needs more bars like the Burger Social. This is a great little bar with multiple floors for extra dining. I will be happy to come back for drinks, but this visit was just for burgers with the family. I had the pitmaster: cheddar, bacon, bbq and fried onion rings. It was great! All of their burgers are big and thick patties that come on pretzel buns, similar to La Briola, Burger Antics, and Kuma Corner. I wouldn't say it's any better here or my favorite, but good nonetheless. The fries are fair, a bit lacking crisp. The pretzel bites make for a fantastic appetizer, smothered in butter and chives and served with cheese sauce and ground mustard. For $11 they could give a little more. I would say the order just feeds 2-3 people. read more

Highly recommended!! Very quint place. Really likes the bartender Mike. He was on top of everything!! I asked for a blueberry Moscow mule and he didn't have blueberry vodka but he suggested a blueberry liquor. It was very tasty! We had pretzels and fried pickles as an app! Delicious!!
