The Diablo tacos are great! Although I prefer how the used to make them before. They were corn tortillas and were toasted with the sauce. Very tasty that way. The nachos are good but can use more protein. The fiesta salad is great. Burgers are pretty good. Pricing is a bit high, especially when adding protein, and I've noticed that portions are sometimes smaller. The service is a hit and miss. Alex, Brittany, Jackie, Grace and about two others are awesome every time! The ambiance is great for family, friends or date night! read more

3 of us had lunch there earlier this week. We had lunch and drinks. The chips, salsa and guacamole were outstanding, with their house salsa being particularly tasty. The food is mediocre. The chips and salsa was...ok. The drink and menu selections are limited. They limit the main portions and have heavy rice and super runny retried beans. The beef (carne asada) tasted close to turning. It was not carne asada. Small cuts of chuck or flank steak. It was not any tenderloin or they got ripped off from their provider. It has the feel like the restaurant is not doing well and they are on their last leg. My wife and I came here when they opened and the food was not great. We were told they might have gotten better, sadly they have not. Evidently the Presidio agrees. They have limited seating with the other dining area closed. This has to cut into their sales. One can only assumes Presidio wants them to fail so they will not renew their lease and they can get a better restaurant in. Please get a good bar and grill in here. What a wasted space!!! read more

Went to the cantina to have carne asada street tacos. First the meat was poor quality. The plate was not freshly made. When I called the restaurant the girl that answered said they make the meat in the morning. It's good all day. It was not good and made me sick. read more

We went on a weekend late afternoon, and it filled up soon after we arrived. They appeared to be short-staffed. The pandemic and free government checks seem to still keep some people from wanting to work. This meant that we needed to be patient with the time it took for staff to circle back to us. Nothing wrong with being patient. The printed menu was not up to date as some tap beers were not available. The supplied chips and salsa were tasty. The first basket was nicely low/unsalted. My 4-chile heat rated pepper taco dish was at best a 3. I guess they don't want to have to redo dishes due to customer complaints about the heat level. It was pretty darn thin with the flour shell folded over. The refried beans had way too much salt. The rice was decent. The pricing seemed as if they are working to keep things in check despite the pandemic and rising inflation. This visit was just okay for us. It wasn't great, but decent. We agreed when we left that we don't need to return again for a while. read more

I am so happy that Deborah Huyer and her family have opened a new restaurant at the Presidio Residence Club. The other restaurants she owns in Estrella are equally as good, but I love how they are all different and offer a nice variety. This is something we were lacking when my husband and I first moved here 4 years ago, but these great additions have filled in the gaps nicely. Now, at The Cantina I have tried the nachos fundido, ceviche, elote, and the quesadilla. All were really good, but the ceviche was outstanding. It tasted fresh and flavorful. I've been thinking about having it again ever since I tried it. Best of luck to this new establishment! read more

Indoor seating is very loud and metal chairs are not comfy at all. They need to hang some fabric to absorb some sound. Food is average and portions are not typical size of what you receive in a Mexican restaurant. read more

Husband and I recently stayed in a VRBO in Goodyear, AZ for the Nascar races at PIR (March 2023). We are originally from San Diego, CA where restaurants to enjoy good Mexican food and shrimp tacos are abundant. I can honestly say that the shrimp tacos I had were the BEST shrimp tacos I have ever eaten and I so wish we had been able to have dinner at The Cantina again that weekend. Husband enjoyed his enchiladas and the Cadillac margaritas were also excellent. Service was outstanding. Ran into friends I had not seen for over 30 years, so now we have an excuse to visit Goodyear again and hopefully have dinner at The Cantina again too! read more

We arrived around 4 pm on a weekday. Only one other table was occupied and a couple were seated at the bar. We usually prefer to sit on the booth tables, but since they all had not been cleared or cleaned we were were sat at a small table near the door. I was really surprised that no one bothered to bus the tables the whole time we were there. Food was so-so. Beans and rice were not warm. I found this to be true the last time we ate there. We're from Seattle so maybe we don't know Mexican food? I didn't care for the rice and I thought it tasted like it came from a package mix. Grilled shrimp tacos were tasty though. All in all it might be a convenient spot for happy hour out on the patio, but would definitely not come back for the food. read more

Went for happy hour. Even with discounts til 5pm it is overpriced. $13.95 for a very small dish of guacamole with chips. Quesadilla had a little cheese. It came with a container of pico de gallo, a little larger than a thimbleful for 4 slices of quesadilla. We had guests from out of town, it was our first time there and will not return. We were going to order dinner but with the experience we had, we went elsewhere for dinner. It could be such a great place with better food and reasonable prices! read more

I love Cantina! I got the street tacos and guacamole. My mom got a burrito. It was as good as always! I'm not that big of a fan of Mexican food in general but when you get a hankering, you have to go. The guac is my absolute favorite guac. So fresh, super flavorful, and perfect to scoop onto my tacos! The tacos were excellent as well. I mostly got carne asada. Very flavorful! I'm also borderline obsessed with the salsa. Cantina has a hot salsa that I typically order as well, but I got alote instead to take home with me! The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. I can't imagine anyone having a difficult time interacting with them unless the customer was aggressive, haughty, or demeaning first. My mom and I will be returning to treat the staff respectfully and continue to not have a single mishap! (I've heard really good things about all the drinks they make as well, but I'm normally driving! One day I'll check out a couple and update this!) read more

we walked out of here. They advertise happy hour until 5 on their website, but when you go in, they tell you tht it ended at 4. So two margaritas are 35.00 instead of 10! The chips are the worst that I have had and I have been to a lot of mexican restaurants. The margs werent good either. When we pointed out live on the website the hours of happy hour, we were told to "call the owners". I don't have time for that! this place is small and horrible read more

I've ordered about 5 times doing pick up orders and they either barely add any meat to the food or don't add the meat at all. I've been trying to give the benefit of the doubt but last night we spent $84 on four meals for a birthday. I ordered a surf and turf burrito and there was only shrimp, they didn't add a single piece of carne asada. The only shrimp that was added was just three pieces. The burrito was filled to the brim with beans and rice though!! For $17 I was really upset. We also ordered the street tacos and there was probably just a teaspoon of meat in each one. I don't personally like to complain but this being the fifth time, I had to write a review. The food is really good but don't order pickup! Just eat inside. read more

The atmosphere is comfortably casual with indoor and outdoor seating. The servers are friendly and make you feel like family. No matter what you order, it's delicious. When it first opened it was superb. Great food, large portions, and decent service. The last time I went about five months ago, the food portions were much smaller and the quality was down. The service was also disappointing. I haven't been back since then. I don't know if it's because they have different cooks now or if they are merely trying to cut costs to increase profit. Their hours of operation, open only for dinner, forces locals who might choose to eat there to go elsewhere. I don't believe it's going to survive. read more

I started coming here when it first opened, the portions of food have almost been cut in half.....the pics that are are shown do not reflect the correct portion size that is served... I have asked for my beans and rice on the side and it is put into 2 oz containers, I questioned the serving size and was told that's the way it is...the picture of the shrimp burrito is half the size of what I received, 5 pieces of shrimp that was cut up, and missing ingredients, I was told depends who's cooking.....so, the good cook creates food correctly and the other cook does not care....that's why you lost eight customers in our neighborhood....you need to be more consistent when you make food....I'd rather eat at Federico's than at your place, your place was special, not anymore Which I had pictures read more

Sorry but fakest Mexican food I've had very disappointed. But if your going for drinks it's a good place but not the food.

We have been coming here almost weekly since last year. In the beginning the food and drinks were great but in the last two months or so the food has gone down hill. The drinks are still great but the chips have been oily or burnt which you can plainly see and they serve them anyway. My last dinner I ordered fish tacos which tasted great but the black beans tasted and looked like they had been on the plate since the day before. They were cold and dry. I would normally have the refried beans but they are so salty you can't eat them. Appetizers served without separate plates for diners. We so want to like their food, but they're making it so hard. read more
