This was a five star experience all around. I wish I could give it more stars! I was meetIng someone there at 5pm but valet parking starts at 5pm. I made several calls to the hosttess about a strategy. She was incredibly patient explaining my different options as it neared 5pm and I was playing in traffic. It all worked out. Our server was top notch. He clued me into a Capital grilll secret- yes they do have baked potatoes -only a few- early in the evening. Came here for my birthday and everything was great. Brian was our waiter and he was the best. So helpful, upbeat, and knowledgeable. The bread basket was a treat as there were 4 different types of bread to choose from. The brown bread was my favorite followed by this garlicky cheesy bread. Butter went well with both. This was my first time to Capital Grille in a very long time and I had lots of questions about the menu. I decided on a 10 oz. Filet Mignon with a caramelized sauce and shrimp on the side. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were the sides. They were both perfect accompaniments for the very tender and very flavorful steak. My date got lobster and crab cakes which is served with a side of corn salsa and a Caesar salad. He said he always gets the same thing and thoroughly enjoys them. At the end of the night, Brian brought out a beautiful birthday plate with a small cheesecake and a berry sauce (which was amazing) and a small piece of their flourless chocolate cake with whipped cream that wasn't so good to me. The Capital Grille was pretty decent. We went during restaurant because of course that's the whole point you get to try out the 5 star restaurants . Our server was Brian who was very attentive. He made sure to greet us in the beginning and congratulate us on our anniversary. He gave us a brief overview of the styles we could have our steak cooked which was really appreciated as we had never been there before and i would've been devastated if i picked the mushroom style ( i absolutely hate mushrooms). The service was right on time every item came out with good timing the dessert portion took a little bit but we were ok to talk over some wine. It's hard to get a bad meal here. Seriously. You'd have to work at it. And you shouldn't because, let's face it, dining here is not cheap. And this makes my expectations much higher as,well. As usual, they did not disappoint. Consistency, these days, is becoming a rare commodity. Yet the Grille manages to bring it to the table each and every time. While I normally detail each and every course, as a repeat customer, I can affirm it is all succulent, savory, fresh, and fantastic (ye, alliteration was deliberate lol). For the record, we shared the steak tartare. It sits on a bed of egg and onions. There's a deviled egg and toast points as well. I recommend adding some ground pepper. Serving size is meant for 2 and it is just enough. I find this trend towards oversized appetizers, in most restaurants annoying, so I was quite pleased this did not ruin my appetite and kept the anticipation alive for my entree. If you are a steak aficionado, or want to become one, this is where you can cut your teeth. It's equally amazing at how much subprime meat is being sold these days. Here you will get top of the line, well seasoned steak of all kinds, bone in or not, your choice. All exceptional. Tonight's sampling was a basic 10 Oz filet and the NY strip au poivre with a courvoissier creme sauce. To die for. French gene beans to share rounded out the main meal. Dessert was a simple dish of dulce de Leche ice cream with a Dow's late vintage port. My dining companion indulged in the Generous Pour option, which consists of 7 glasses front a single brand line. The wines were all very good with the Cabernet being the winner. May I add, they really do mean Generous Pour! It's the deal of the summer for sure! Service: everyone who works here are so well trained and professional. You can also choose what color napkin to use (black or white). Food: the reviews do not lie, this place is good and fancy. My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary and it was very high class. The night started with a breadbasket. The bread was good but it seemed kinda hard in my opinion. I ordered the lamb chops and they were good but not mind blowing. I felt like they had a decent amount of fat on them which make it kinda hard to eat. However, that sauce was delicious and really made the lamb pop with flavor. For dessert we ordered a creme brûlée and a chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was a gift from the restaurant for our anniversary! Both of the desserts were delicious and neither one of us could complain. Overall the food was really good but I wasn't blown away. Service: I absolutely loved our waiter! He was animated and very helpful. When we arrived at our table the host sprinkled heart confetti on our table and gave us an anniversary card. We scheduled our office holiday party at Capital Grille. Alyssa provided an excellent menu from which each guest could choose entrées, salads and sides. The entrées included steak (of course), fish and fowl. We had 17 people in toto and Alyssa decided to put us behind the credenza in the main dining room. We chose The Capital Grill for dinner after traveling from Ft. Lauderdale. The Restaurant Manager greeted us warmly and took a genuine interest in making feel like Royalty. Our Server was consistently vigil making certain we received our food exactly as we like it prepared. The Kona Steak was succulent and juicy...my husbands Steak Oscar was mouth watering. I went to dinner here with my husband and a friend and we had a terrific experience! This restaurant is extremely classy and clean. We had a reservation and were pretty much immediately sat. They had a fantastic Baltimore Restaurant Week menu for a great value! First of all, their bread is delicious! They give you a nice assortment of bread at the beginning of the meal. Their cocktails are also made very well and are extremely fresh. I had an excellent cosmopolitan. I opted for the restaurant week menu. I had an appetizer, main course and dessert all for just $35! For my appetizer, I had the Field Greens Salad with a Parmesan vinaigrette. The salad was simple and fresh and the Parmesan vinaigrette was perfect with it! We also tried the tuna tartare with avocado and mango. The tuna was so fresh and paired really well with the avocado and mango. For my entree, I had the Bone In Dry-Aged NY Strip (14 oz). This was an amazing steak! Great quality and prepared to perfection. It was buttery, seasoned just right, and melted in my mouth! It was so tender and flavorful. We also all split a side of the lobster Mac n' cheese. Their Mac n' cheese is definitely one of the top ones that I have had! It was the perfect amount of cheesiness, without being too oily or stringy. For dessert, I had the Capital Grille Cheesecake served with berries. This cheesecake was delicious and a perfect end to the meal. It was creamy, but not too rich and went really well with the berries and sauce. Our server was extremely friendly and so on top of it the whole dining experience. The managers were also very friendly and stopped by our table to make sure that everything was going well. The prices were extremely fair in regards to the restaurant week menu. Bryce kept our water glass full as he reminded us those peppers have a kick sometimes. Great foreshadowing! He also made me an unsweet tea with a splash of simple syrup! Refreshing!! Then the fire kissed Aged bone in New York strips came out in all it's glory! We ordered medium heat. The best bite is always the one hugging the bone!! We had both sautéed and creamed spinach. I was already getting full!!! That's when we were introduced to Josh he was checking in on us... we order espressos and desserts! Hubby had the decadent flourless espresso cake and I indulged in a dish of fresh seasonal berries swimming in silky crème anglaise .. drop the mic!!!! The espresso cake was a magical texture like ganache, chocolate mouse and astronaut ice cream... amazing!!! Came here for restaurant week and definitely spent more than I planned. I have to say though my meal was worth it (since I paid for extras). My friends on the otherhand I feel like didn't have great meals. Or you can find start parking, but I can't parallel especially during traffic so the decision was made for me. We were greeted and service was phenomenal. S/o to Paul for being so attentive and helpful. Drinks: I ordered a Pinot grigio, yum. ($7 during RW meal) App: - Clam Chowder - this was so good I almost liked the bowl - My friend requested lobster bisque and they accommodated without hassle. (Like I said A+ service) - Salad was you know.. salad. Entree: I got the veal tomahawk chop and it was amazing. So good, but slightly salty from the butter on top. But I love salt so bring it on. It was worth the $15 extra. My friends got the filet mignon and the strip steak. These were not as flavorful, not as moist. Dessert: - Flourless chocolate cake: you'll like this if you're a chocolate fiend, not for me. It was very rich - Cheesecake: pretty yummy, you can't go wrong. This was the worst experience I've had at the capital grille and I won't be coming back- in fact I don't suggest anyone dine here- especially this location- my steak was delicious but cold- the muffin in our bread basket was stale- it was one piece broken in half and already crumbling- the hash brown patty was hard as a rock, cold, I tasted no white cheddar- it didn't taste like potato either- more like cardboard-for the cost of the plate they could have given two asparagus crossed over each other for presentation but instead they chopped up one- it was over steamed and lost all of its color-we did receive the birthday card- but no complementary dessert which is fine but they didn't write happy birthday either on the dessert I paid for- the service was ok- Diane was trying her best- even tho she brought me someone else drink- we were placed in a cold dark room in the back- which was strange because we had a reservation and the restaurant was not full when we arrived- Hard cold white cheddar hash brown- this was just a piece of board to catch the blood from my steak- no flavor- not seasoned- I want to add that as other plates passed by I saw that no everyone was given the same poor quality! read more

Our son is attending his freshman year at Towson University and parent's weekend provided an opportunity to take him out for a big steak. Having had an unpleasant meal at a nearby steakhouse, we decided to try the Capital. Such a pleasant surprise to enjoy an exemplary meal here. We were shown to our table promptly and told that Lazarus would take good care of us. He did, or attempted to I should say. My wife and I are lawyers and cooks. When we go out to eat, we are as prepared and up to date on the menu as the staff. We are familiar with ingredients, wines, sustainability, preparation and the other factors that make up fine dining and service. Lazarus was fully informed but we just didn't have the need for elaborate explanations of food and drink. I wish there was a way to get that across without coming off like an elitist jerk. Even now, I feel my face flushing for fear that someone might read this the wrong way. Make no mistake, Lazarus was top notch and most likely the face of this restaurant and we appreciate his efforts to educate immensely. On to the food. Calamari, shrimp cocktail, tuna tartare. Everything was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our wine was fairly priced. Steaks were fabulous. Dry aged strips. Bone in rib eye. Mash. Fries. I think my wife had asparagus. The steaks were cooked properly and were very flavorful. My only question is what steakhouse doesn't offer hash browns as a side? I love mashed potatoes but I prefer something crispy with my steak. Food for thought? Excellent coffee, espresso, some complimentary and much appreciated dessert and conversation about the food industry with Lazarus. We also enjoyed two visits from the manager during our meal. A nice touch. So there you have it. A five star meal at a restaurant with multiple locations. Something I have opined would be unlikely. My absolute favorite place to eat in Baltimore! Exceptional service, great ambience, impressive selection of meats. This pace is my go to when I feel like having steak or a nice dinner in general. The porterhouse is what I go for, but having tried the rib eye, veal chop, and the filet, one can never go wrong. The steaks are seasoned minimally and let the meat do the talking. Seared to perfection, achieving the right temperature throughout the steak, it just melts in your mouth. While the meats are the star of the show the sides are highly recommended as well. Their best side for me is their lobster Mac and cheese, however the asparagus, truffle fries, and mushrooms are a close second. The flourless chocolate cake with a shot of espresso is just the perfect way to end the meal. The ambience, the service, the attention to detail is as close to perfect as can be. I had it medium and it was so perfect! I don't like the bloody look on a steak but don't like it well done so a lot of time it's very difficult to find a good steak that I can enjoy without being grossed out. This being said, I have never eaten at one because I always assumed that they had no good vegetarian options. This week, I decided to finally go for it, and come to find out, options do exist - and they are GOOD! I sat at the bar and ordered their squash soup and the beet salad. The beet salad was awesome and came with a huge ice cream scoop full of goat cheese (they know the way to my heart). Overall, it was a great meal. The only reason I docked a star was the service - for being such a well-known place, the service was lacking. Celebrated my loves 30th birthday tonight and it was an amazing time. We had a nice party room and our waitress Jackie was stellar. She was personable, knowledgeable, patient, funny and more. She never seemed overwhelmed and we had a party of ten, trickling in at different times. The drinks were great. I had the bohemian which I loved. The table also had red wine, in fashion and long islands. All good. We had the calamari app and I loved the kick it had. A dipping sauce would've been great but no big deal. Our meals were delicious overall. The creamed spinach is not on Ruth Chris level but everything else was on point. They ended the night taking a group photo and framing it.
