Excellent service, excellent food and friendly staff with lots of common sense. I always get the same sandwich, Bentley it's a steak sandwich that melts in your mouth. I forgot ask for no onions but had already taken a bite, the girl who works there without hesitation had it remade to my exact liking even tho they didn't scream up I did. Thank you and that's how a restaurant should be ran and operated. Everyone needs to try this sandwich, I'm sure all the food is good but I'm more of a red meat person. I've eaten here three times so far. First time we dined in. Lots of seating, friendly staff... but lets get to the food! I ordered the french onion grilled cheese with chips and slaw. The sandwich was amazing. Crunchy bread, melty cheese and onions... it was like a warm hug in my mouth. Chips were homemade and had great crunch and chewiness. Overall this was a great lunch and I knew I'd be eating here more. A few days later I decided to order from home through Postmates. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballwich and house fries. The sandwich tastes good, but it's extremely messy to eat. The "bread" is fried spaghetti noodles, which... while it's novel, it is also hard to eat. One bite might unravel some spaghetti so it sort of makes for a sloppy sandwich. The meatball bits could be smaller which might help them not fall out in large pieces from the "bread". Overall, good sandwich but it'd be easier to just break it all up and eat it with a fork. The house fries I tried for the first time... So crispy and so good! This was a delivery order, mind you... and still, fries are crunchy as ever. Very rare to be able to get tasty fries that aren't a soggy greasy mess when delivered. Finally today, the reason I'm writing this review... I again ordered from home. (I'm lazy :P) This time the house fries and the french dip sandwich. All I have to say is... WOW. This sandwich is so good it almost brings a tear to my eye. Best roast beef sandwich I've ever eaten... PLUS the jus is also amazing... but the sandwich is so good it doesn't even need to be dipped! The food here is AMAZING. Very fresh and made when ordered. The homemade chips are tasty! The fries are also crisp and salty....yumm. we came for a family dinner for 7 and we all enjoyed our dinner. The portions are substantial. I usually finish my meal but this was a large sandwich cut in 2. I ate 1. The beers are unique, they have familiar (16 or 24 oz) Mexican beers. Also had my tab. Allagash. Very nice quiet ambiance indoors. The outdoors caters to those with furry family members. I would totally come back with my dogs. read more

Honestly, the only reason I don't come here more often is that it's a bit pricey. That being said, these are some of the best sandwiches I've ever had, especially The Bentley and Medianoche. The teas are great and the sodas are awesome. All the sweets are amazing, especially the deep friend Oreos. Highly recommend! read more

Cute sandwich shop with outdoor seating and plenty of choices. My friend and I split the grilled cheese and Bánh mì sandwich. She loved her side of the squash soup and my chips were crispy. I did enjoy the choices of natural soda. The grilled cheese was cooked perfectly crisp, chewy, and flavorful. Unfortunately the Bánh mì sandwich was disappointing. I would call it a pulled pork sandwich, the bread was just a bun, and the heat and acid of the condiments were a miss. I am glad I split with my friend otherwise I doubt I'd return. read more

Best friggin sandwiches that I have possibly ever had! The burgers are okay. I highly recommend the fresh baked cookies! Be sure to order them at the beginning of your order so they are ready by the time you finish your sandwich :). I'm making my way through the list of choices but I start with something like the Bentley, then try a cold sandwich like the Clydesdale (so amazing but be sure to eat at the shop. It travels ok but so much better in shop) and of course my favorite is the most unique and delicious version of a Pork Bahn Mi I have ever had! Enjoy! And talk this place up! I consider myself a connoisseur of club sandwiches and i have to say, this club was especially delicious! Everything from the perfectly toasted sourdough to the ratio of meat and bread. Been here a couple of times and so happy they are here! The midnight sandwich definitely my favorite so far. My boyfriend did one of their sandwich to salad things and it was HUGE! No skimping anywhere. I thought $5 for a cookie was a bit much until I found out you get 4 cookies baked to order. So delicious, I don't feel cheated on the price because the quality is there and the staff is super nice, helpful and friendly, plus I can bring my dog. Love going there. read more

I was blown away with the caliber of the food served at The Carving Board. The Bentley sandwich was a slice of heaven nestled in a Ciabatta. The filet mignon was marinated perfectly and the cashew cole slaw was beautifully presented. I felt like I was in the best Lawry's restaurant. A very high end eating experience. Great customer service! I called the day before to place a deliver order for an office lunch, and Sal was very helpful and thorough. I emailed them my order and had the pharm rep call in with her credit card. No issues at all. They called to confirm my address the day off and came earlier than planned. Food is great as usual! I was looking forward to try a new place in town. The first thing I noticed was that the menu was to small to read and way to crowded and confusing. I got the Thai crunch salad my husband got the turkey burger as well as my daughter. Fries come separate so you end up spending 11.00 dollars for the burger. It's says it's 6 oz. but doesn't seem like it. The texture of the turkey was mushy both could not be eaten. The Thai salad was all greens and some chicken but it was very one more needed something else, where was the crunch? Peanuts or something else would have made this more enjoyable. The soup was vegetable with 10 garlic cloves. It was sweet but has potential. The manager refunded our meal which I appreciated, and gave my daughter a grilled cheese sandwich. I think the concept is good and can be improved. Would love to see this place succeed. read more

Highly recommend this place. Went for lunch with a friend on New Year's Eve. Both of our meals were wonderful. The sandwiches were a good size, and came with either a large bowl of chips or a side salad. We both opted for the side salad which was mixed greens with a lovely flavorful lemony dressing. I had the chicken salad sandwich on brioche. I could've stopped at half and been satisfied. However it was so delicious I ate the whole thing! They have flavored teas and Jones soda, both are serve yourself with refills. I think my sandwich, salad and tea came to about $15. The staff were very, very friendly, but not in an intrusive way. You order at the counter, they bring you your food. Frequently they walked by our table and just checked in to see if we needed anything. I was impressed with both employees, they seemed to be very hard-working, checking the dining area, and making sure it was picked up and clean and that the customers were happy. Taking a personal responsibility for their workplace, not something you always see in hourly employees. I will definitely come back to this place again. Also just to be clear there are two restaurants, with similar names. This one and another one called Wild Carvery, both of them are on Olive. Great tasting sandwiches. Usually I'm not impressed with sandwiches, since they're either too dry, or the bread is off, or the balance between ruffage and meat isn't right. But this place nails it! Of course, it's more expensive that your traditional sandwich but at least you get what you pay for. Being a local, having the option to go to a great family owned restaurant that isn't from the 70's when people's tastes were limited (or the dreaded chain restaurant) is a very welcomed surprise. The food here is great, but the service (through no fault of the employees who work there) could use a boost. They simply need more workers on any given shift. There's always just one person manning the front taking all calls and orders. I've called in and been out on hold for over 10 minutes before putting my order in. I've called and was put on hold long enough to drive to the location and order in person, while still on hold. Every time I order pickup, they don't make the fries until I step in to pickup, which means another 5-10 minutes of waiting, defeating the purpose of calling in ahead. I step in to pickup today, and they're still putting the nozzles on the soda machines nearly half an hour after opening. Oh, and they're out of straws completely. Please schedule more than one person at a time. read more

The sandwiches are so good here! I keep getting the Bentley which I believe is their signature sandwich, and the meat is tender and juicy and the blue cheese is tangy (its a mouthwatering combo!) My dad got the Clydesdale and he liked it, and my sister like the Bahn Mi she ordered. And the people here are all friendly and attentive which is always a plus! I wish they had a better location where more people could just end up strolling by it and come inside, but I guess the plus side is you don't have to fight as hard for parking and you don't have walk a mile away to get to the restaurant. (I have jury duty coming up next week and its right across the street at the courthouse so guess where I'll be eating!) I really suggest giving it a try, the sandwiches may not look huge, but every time I get the Bently I'm stuffed and can't finish the handmade chips that are given as a side. They have a big selection of sandwiches, burgers, salads, grilled cheese, some soups and sides. read more

Their home made potato chips are awesome as well (have a nice choice of chips or side salad or can upgrade for a small amount).
