Go early if you can. Got here at 4 pm on a Saturday and were seated within 5 minutes. When we were leaving at 5:30 the wait was one hour Food quality and choices are 10/10 The Kimchi was some of the best I've ever had. There were 4 of us and we only made it through 4 meat cycles. So much food!!! The service was mostly great. The vents work really well too (I hate smelling like food after dining). The place is clean and with an even vibe. K-pop music on the TVs and all the servers spoke great American English. I was able to ask about a lot of foods I normally have no knowledge of in other K BBQ spots. AYCE KBBQ right by many other KBBQ spots in the area (e.g., Jeong Yook, Picnic Garden) so you know the competition is tough. The $35 per person (dinner) includes a wide variety of meat, including squid and intestines, along with some side dishes such as steamed egg. They charge for leftovers, which makes sense to minimize waste, and even offer half portions to allow you to try more of the menu without food waste (love it!). 4/5 for the food and 2/5 for the ambiance (too hot, noisy and crowded for me). As with most AYCE, it's more of a quantity over quality situation, though all the meat was pretty decent quality (if you're going for quality / less hungry, def don't go to AYCE). I definitely did not eat my moneys worth, and I think it would be pretty difficult to.. We got kalbi, bulgogi, samgyupsal, marinated pork, squid, intestines, steamed egg, etc. My favourite was the samgyupsal as all the marinade was too sweet and a bit off tasting to me. Reminded me of the H-Mart marinade which I'm not the biggest fan of. Their samjang was very liquidy too which was a bit off putting but their lettuce was very clean and crisp. Squid was also good and coated in lots of butter - very soft and had a nice chewiness. Intestines also good - wish they had more variety of intestine sizes rather than just small. Kalbi was very tough for kalbi and also not on the bone. My least favourite, but my mom liked it (she doesn't like pork tho so she has limited options). You get a free soda too if you check in on Yelp - would highly recommend especially given the heat at this place. The ventilation isn't the best and their air suction doesn't come down to your table, so you end up with a lot of smoke in your face. Cast Iron has been on my bookmark list since they've opened. Thanks to the invite from fellow Yelper/Friends Chun and Eudora, I finally went! It was fantastic! I have to be honest, my first experience with the cast iron type grills (at a different restaurant in Sunnyside), left much to be desired. My biggest complaint was that the cast iron grill never got HOT, and the meats never got a good sear...Well,...Not True here at Cast Iron 3!! The grill was super hot and gave all our meats a fantastic sear; great flavors! My compliments to the staff, for great, attentive service. They made sure our meats were cooked to perfection; never overcooking anything! Our party of 5 tried almost all the meat options on the menu (except the chicken dishes). Everything was fantastic. My only complaint is that they didn't have short-rib on their menu. There were lots of side dishes to order also (rice, steamed egg, salad, soup etc). Also, we didn't take advantage of this but you get a free soda with your Yelp check-in! As mentioned before, service & hospitality were great. But be warned, it does get very LOUD there (maybe too loud)! It was hard to have conversations without yelling; even with the person seated right next to you. More pork belly over here, please! I really enjoyed my first post-pandemic Korean barbecue meal here! I love the sizzling sound of the meats cooking and the aroma just makes your mouth water! My favorite items are very flavorful - the thick cut pork belly (must get!), brisket, galbi, bulgogi, squid, and marinated chicken. All the steaks - garlic cubed, hanging, blade, I thought were just okay. The item that I, surprisingly, didn't like was the pork jowl as it just tastes like straight up fat here. They only allowed us to order 3 protein at a time and I highly recommend that you ask the waiter/waitress to give you smaller portions to save stomach space to be able to try all the items on the menu. Side items include rice, salad, steamed egg, spicy rice cake, and my personal favorite here - the beef stew, it had plentiful of beef and daikon! I recently came here for a Saturday lunch as a party of 3 and got here roughly after 1:00 pm. It was still kind of quiet with just a few tables and we were seated immediately. It got super packed around an hour later! We got a round table with seats that was like a metal tin can and you can lift open the lid to place all your belongings there! Their QR code menu is convenient then turned annoying to access with the QR codes located on only two sides of the table and you will need to bother your friend to scan each time you need to see it, if you don't like to keep your phone on/out. I would have someone scan for the menu, take a screen capture of each menu page, then send it to everyone on a group chat/text - much easier to access. You would never think we are in a struggling economy when you come here. The place is jammed packed with eager patrons. This all-you-can-eat Korean Bbq restaurant has a very lively and somewhat loud environment. It's filled with mostly young patrons. The lines waiting to be seated are long and people huddled around the entrance going out into the streets waiting to be called. Reservations necessary and the entire party need to be present in order to be seated. Good come out FAST and served efficiently. You feel a bit rushed since the food is cooked quickly and you shoved them in your face before it gets cold. Our reservation was for 7pm. We came here last weekend on a Sat as I was looking forward to trying this AYCE kbbq place in Flushing. We decided to get here via the subway and then the walk was about 20-30 mins which was not too bad. You can also take a bus. There was no wait around 2pm. They don't take reservations for parties of 2 so I was a little worried about the wait. We were sitting across one of the tv screens showing kpop music videos. The seating is still based and the lid I removable for you to put your bag/jackets etc in them. That was a nice touch. The area itself inside is a bit dark. The service was decent. The one thing is they did ask us if we ever been here and we said no but they didn't exactly walk us through anything other than you can order what meats or seafood you want and they would cook it in front of you and do the flipping etc. For Instance, we didn't know two bowls of rice are complimentary. We asked for rice after our 1 round of meat since it was a little spicy & then were told the two bowls of rice are included. I also wished they would tell us how certain meats are normally eaten. For example, there are some meats you eat wrapped in lettuce. I only knew that from past experience with other friends at a different kbbq place. The menu itself is simple and not overwhelming. We aren't big pork people so we mainly ordered beef and seafood. I really enjoyed the butter squid (the spicy one was a little too much), the thin beef brisket (really tasty), the top blade steak, and the bulgogi. The rice cake was also interesting. It has sweet flavoring on the outside. The grilled vegetable could have been better. It was small like a broccoli, a mushroom, and too much onion. We were comfortably full after. I believe we were approx. 16 ppl in the party. We were seated into two different tables: small and large. For the large table (which I was in) were approx. 10 people and two iron pots in our table, I guess 5 and 5 people per iron pots Initially the waitress told us that we could only pick three different meals at a time and we could pick other three proteins once we finish the original ones. This made sense. We picked these: + Hanging tender steak, it was superb. One of the best in the house. Tender beef. Yummy! + Top blade steak, another superb one. Tender beef. Yummy! - Beef bulgogi, it was average. We shouldn't have picked it - Beef small intestine, another average dish - Pork belly, it was a bit chewy. Didn't enjoy it much. It was average I guess + Thin sliced pork belly. Much better. Enjoyed it a lot - Spicy chorizo, it was average. Shouldn't have picked it As the night went in, they allowed us to pick more proteins without limitations Free complementary appetizers were kimchi as side dish, it wasn't fresh tasted like expired?; broccoli, onion rings, mushrooms, and peppers for the irons. They had this special condiment sauce that would really go well with pork and chicken, and their salt seems to be special sea salt + black ground pepper that would taste really good with beef, I guess the secret lies in the ratio between pepper and sea salt Right at the end, they were limiting the ratio and diminishing the amount provided to us. Before they would bring at least 3 pieces of meat like pork, steak and other. But at the end they brought two instead... Kinda telling us we ate a lot and they were trying to minimize their damage and losses. Expected. They are not running a charity there If you check in with Yelp, you get a complimentary soda. It is not written anywhere and their waiters don't tell you this so I guess you will have to stumble into this by luck The waiters are very attentive and will help you bbq the proteins, they know when to flip them and when to place them into the lowest heat side of the iron pots. They also know when to change the iron pot from being too sticky and when to take advantage of the worn iron pot, for instance they recommended us to grill bulgogi when the iron pot was running on its last lifetime before cleaning... Not bad place for AYCE Korean BBQ, however, I think it is not so great for large parties. Too many ppl then it is hard to accommodate and make everyone happy, too little ppl then it would take forever to finish a round before the next round can come. I think the sweet spot for the right amt of ppl would be 4-6 ppl. A bad experience that I had was in their restrooms. Some prankster locked the stall's door and when I needed to use it i couldn't. I didn't want to crawl under the door to open the door, so instead I used one of their gender neutral restroom instead. Kudos to the prankster, you got me! There is time limitation of two hours per party. They cut us short because there was a huge line waiting to be seated. I guess this place is super popular. Kinda expected... All things considered, this was such a good time! We ordered practically everything off the menu. It's such a nice experience with several people. The food is sizzled and cooked right in front of you, and when done, pick as you eat. The kimchi is nice and cold and has that perfect kick. The only downside is, is that there's hardly any room on the table and virtually all of the plates are made of metal so if they get too close to the cast iron pot they will be very hot. It has been quite some time since I've had Korean BBQ. I'm embarrassed to even say how long it's been. That being said, this was an awesome way to get reintroduced to a cuisine that is top notch! Here is a bit more about my spectacular lunch. When walking in The Cast Iron, we were immediately met by the host and seated after we showed our vaccination cards. We were seated at a spot next to a window and away from the other diners, which I found quite comforting. You are sitting on stools where the top comes off and you can put your belongings into the stool's base. To me this is a wonderful idea, because I'm always carrying a bunch of things with me wherever I go and never know where to put them when I am at a table at a restaurant. This is also great for people who are always on their phones. You could put your phone away and enjoy a meal here and not be tempted to look at it because you're sitting on it. I digress... Had to wait about 10mins for a table, as it was raining and there were a lot of people in front of us waiting for tables. We had a small table of 5, we started with the fried kimchi dumplings. We were hungry, so for the dinner portion we order thick pork belly, beef, pork jowl ( my favorite), butter squid ( melt in your mouth) shrimp on the shell ( small shrimp) beef bulgogi, steam egg and hanging tender steak. OMG I'm so full, funny how you can go from being super hungry to dying full in a matter of an hour. That's my experience here at Cast Iron Pot 3. Our party got here on a Tuesday night at 6:30pm, no wait yay! Definitely can't say the same for the weekend (This place gets PACKED!). Very chill vibe, there's TVs everywhere in restaurant looping Kpop music video, really hypes you up. Once you are seated, the server wasted no time in asking what you want to start with (that's great service), so be prepared to give them your three meat choices, alternatively you can also start with some appetizers- I like the steamed egg, fried tofu and the spicy dumpling. That spicy dumpling was quite spicy and really opened up my taste bud. There were many types of meats to choose from ranging from different cuts of pork and beef to chicken and squid. The way ordering goes, you just have to tell them what type of meat you want and they'll figure out the portion for you based on the number of people. There are two types of people that you normally see at AYCE restaurants- one is the strategic eaters (you try to make your money's worth by eating as much as you can) and the other is just there for the experience. This review is catered toward the strategic eaters so casual eaters beware. First order some lettuce and side dishes, fill up that sauce up and get some rice (you'll need it to cleanse your palate and help cut that grease). You are hungry and you want to start with something that cooks quick, so my choice will be anything that's thinly sliced- I Choose You- Beef Thin Brisket, Thin Sliced Pork Belly and Beef Bulgogi. Btw all the cuts of meat were of very good quality, the beef brisket and the sliced pork belly are not flavored so dress it up with some sauce. The beef bulgogi is flavored and got a little bit of sweetness to it, I like to chase that with either lettuce or some rice (just one bite, not too much, we aint here to get full on rice). By the time the server finished cooking the second type of meat, it's time to order another round. Now that we got something to fill our tummy, we want something meatier! May I suggest the Garlic Cube Steak, Hanging Tender Steak and the Cast Iron Steak (btw I believe this is their marinated Kalbi, maybe don't quote me on it?). Notice I'm hitting hard on beef but if you are not a big beef person, get a pork dish like pork belly. WARNING I would not suggest getting the Top Blade Steak in the beginning cause it's a big piece of steak that takes a while to cook, it's not an efficient use of time! All the steaks were delicious and high quality, my favorite is definitely the Cast Iron Steak which I believe is their Kalbi, it is very sweet so definitely eat it with lettuce or rice. Next I like to move into something greasier and balance it with something non-marinated- How about Spicy Pork Belly, Pork Jowl and the Top Blade Steak? Why yes please! Ideally I would start with the spicy pork belly to get that appetite going again, then hit it with the pork Jowl that's a bit greasier and finish it with the top blade steak to degrease it. I got to say I love the pork jowl, if cooked right, it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it's definitely a fatty piece though so don't go heavy on it. The biggest factor in all these eating is how quickly the server can cook it up, if you have an attentive server, you are good to go, however if your server is less attentive, then you either try to do it yourself or you'd be screw. We had a decent server, however, there were one or two meat that he left on the grill for too long and it ended up sort of burnt so that's a bummer... Alright let's talk money, around $48 pp with tax and tips ($40 without), I think it's reasonable considering you are getting some quality meat and it's AYCE, you can go to a regular Kbbq place and spent just as much or more ordering a la carte. Overall, I like the place, honestly what's not to like it's AYCE, you choose whatever you want to eat, no need for portion control or worry about ordering too much/ too little food and it's perfect for big groups. Service could vary (in terms of cooking the meat) but they do bring the meat out quickly and definitely serve good quality meat! read more

During the fourth of July weekend, my father, my husband and I decided to have all you can eat Korean BBQ. We looked into this spot nearby because it had a lot of buzz on YouTube. In addition if you check in on Yelp you get a free drink. I made reservation on Yelp and when we arrived I still had to make another reservation in order to be seated using their app even though there were only 4 customers in the restaurant. We were seated and we were served by a young man who ended up being schooled by my retired chef dad on customer service. Our server learned very quickly. The lunch consisted of three main dishes and two sides portioned, once you finish the mains you can order additional three mains and two sides until you are full. They set you up with a delicious house cabbage salad; a side of kimchi; and delicious Dipping sauces .... The assorted veggies are awesome & compliment the meats ... Also loves the peach Soju !!
