Ordered online from work to try to save time because past experience have revealed slower than slow service. The program said it would be ready in 50 minutes...really it was 11:30? Got there at 12:20 with a ready time of 12:25. Order wasn't ready, wasn't even started. What a cluster of apathetic disorganized people. The 15 year old running the place had more going for her than any of the adults working with her. It will be a long time before, if ever, I go back. Yuk gross, I went to the chicken connection for the first time after seeing it on the Phantom Gourmet, if they consider this place good, they don't know anything about good food. I got a 3 piece meal that came with 2 sides, the skin on the chicken was like rubber, way to much fat, not much meat as well. I got a side of rice pilaf it was OK that's why they got the 1 star. The other side were potatoes cut into cubes they looked good, but after eating one yuk LIME they were lime flavor not just a hint of lime but in your face way to much lime flavor. Not my first time here, but it may be at the end of my list from now on. The chicken itself is pretty good. Hence why they are the chicken connection but the rest is a little to be desired. The crust on the chicken pot pie is about 1/4 of an inch thick. Its dry and crunchy, as if it was left under the heater a little too long. The carrots in the pie are not cooked and the gravy is extremely salty. The butternut squash was undercooked, bland and stringy. mashed potatoes were ok but not seasoned. Dinner rolls were hard as a brick. The portions are huge which I guess they are trying to make up quantity versus quality. For a better chicken/turkey pie go to Raymonds Turkey farm in Methuen, or get a Blakes in your freezer isle :) Service is slow. High school kids who need a little direction. 12/30/14 Just came home from this place and I really am so done good chicken or not I will NEVER come here again. Their lack of customer service is ridiculous! A kids meal comes with your choice of entree, a side, a drink and a sweet treat. I needed 3 kids meals and only saw 1 pack of cookies left! Now with three kids, that was just not going to fly...I know you moms out there can have some compassion... So I asked what else could be done since there were brownies right beside the cookies....There was no corn bread left (another substitute) So I asked...No I also asked since the cookies are $1.49 can I just pay the extra $.50 for each brownie so mu kids can have their sweet treat...NO Their lack of care to serve me and my family or to make me and my family happy was astounding. Just to make sure that the one cookie that was there was in the bag, I asked "Did you put the cookies in the bag?" The girl serving me looked at me like a deer in the headlight proceeded to roll her eyes and go "ugh". I really want to like it here, but three times I have been, three times have been highly dissatisfied. Waited for a three piece fried chicken meal, grilled chicken sandwich, wings and a soup for almost 35 minutes. And I was the only one in there. Soup was just ok, fries that came with the fried chicken were HORRIBLE and Stale. Ok have been going here off and on forever! Such a staple and so good. The chicken is always great, no matter what kind, fried roasted etc. I especially love the chicken fingers. Gotta agree with the other Matt on the BBQ here. It just isn't really good... have tried the ribs a few times and they are always luke-warm/borderline cold; sort of disgusting! Their advertising on "Phantom Gourmet" got me to try a couple years ago and have been going back every few months ever since. Try the Chicken, Fried. The Chicken Fingers are amazing as well! My review is really just for awareness of food and service between the two locations in Haverhill and Plaistow. I have stopped and tried the haverhill spot 4 times and was four times Disappointed and said would never go back. Few months later my brother made me try the Connection in plaistow and said that it was better than the in Haverhill. So let me tell you The food the service was like night and day between the two. Just seemed the food is fresher and doesnt taste like it was from day before. been going back to plaistow weekly and if you like fish their fish and chips are better then most seafood places. Oh gosh, we used to go here ALL the time when I was a kid. Everything is good, EVERYTHING. I alwyas get extra gravy for the biscuits as its delish. We always get chicken and ribs and theyre so good. This is my goto place whenever I am in Haverhill. Unfortunately that's not a lot these days. I usually got a chicken and rib combo with the salad bar. Sadly to say they did away with the salad bar. Also I am trying to stay away from carbs as much as possible. I've had the mashed potatoes here before and they were good, not an option for me today. I ended up getting a half rack of ribs and they were delicious. The BBQ sauce is plentuful; sweet and tangy. Everyone knows how I like a good rack and this didn't disappoint! I recommend this place. I didn't know they made chicken this good! I bought a three-piece fried chicken plate with stuffing and red bliss potatoes. I was astounded to find that there was so much food I couldn't finish it! Plenty of sides and massive chicken pieces. The chicken itself was moist, and in a class well above KFC and roadside chicken places. The breading tasted great and the sides were tasty too. I'm updating my review since we actually eat here a lot more often then I thought we would. We don't order the chicken fingers, they're still not all that special. The bone-in chicken is still awesome though and what I love is that on my way home from work I can stop and get REAL food for both of us for around $20. In the past I've always been very happy with my experience with the Chicken Connection. The food is very good, the prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly and professional. However, I was in there tonight and I was extremely upset with their lax approach to safety given the current Covid-19 crisis. The person working the register was not wearing a mask but even worse, the person who was boxing and bagging the food wasn't wearing gloves and had a mask covering her mouth but not her nose. All of us customers in the store at that time were dutifully wearing masks and it seemed like it's masks optional for the staff. The Chicken Connection is a great place to go for an extremely affordable home cooked style meal! The menu offers something for everyone and is full of different styles of chicken from fried to chicken pot pies. You can order whole meals or make up your own combo with their offerings of fried drumsticks, thighs, breasts, or wings. I ordered the chicken fingers coated in buffalo sauce with sides of cole slaw and lemon pepper potatoe wedges. The chicken tenders seem to be only lightly coated in flour before being deep fried which works well with the buffalo sauce. They were a little over done but still very delicious! The cole slaw really surprised me because it is hard to find a good quality slaw. This had large crunchy pieces of cabbage coated in a zesty cole slaw dressing that wasn't too thin but not too thick also. The potatoe wedges were really good. They have a nice peppery coating and a hint of lemon. I wanted to try the fried chicken on the bone also so I ordered a thigh piece. The crispy breading is really good. My favorite thing about The Chicken Connection is their weekly food give-a-ways on Facebook. Their food is fairly priced and better quality than KFC. I can't even give it a rating. I asked for steamed veggies with my meal and the cauliflower was rotten. At first I thought it could be just one piece but it was the entire batch. I was so grossed out I didn't eat my meal. The manager was apologetic and offered me a different meal (which I immediately said no to) or a refund, I declined. Disappointed for a second time. Last night was the 3rd time I have tried this location. First time I picked up and took home my order and made improvements in my kitchen. I decided to eat at the location because all was cold by the time I got home. The second time, I placed an order at the counter and indicated I would be dining in (during COVID). I sat in the dining room and watched as people that were there before and after me, arrived and left. After 15 or so people came, ordered and left, I went to the counter to ask about my order. It was found, being placed on an hold or wait?! So after 45 minutes, they started preparing and making my order. When it was ready, I had to walk to the counter to pick it up, not brought to my table. The chicken was undercooked, still pink/red on the inside, rolls (from a package) which I had to go back for cold. OK, try again, everyone has bad days. So, last night, I went in and stopped to check out the side dishes on display. Witnessed a server cleaning the counter throwing scraps from the counter back into the serving dishes. OK, not eating those, unsanitary. Placed my order at the counter, despite items they were already out of. Indicated I was dining in and sat at a table. Again watched 10-15 people, come in, order and leave. After 20 minutes, went to the counter and asked for my order. They said they were waiting on the wings. OK, can I have everything else? My order was already in to go containers and sitting on the counter getting cold. They handed me the already packaged portion. I indicated two pieces were missing, which I was told were cooking. The server asked the cook, he indicated that it was already done, i.e. he didn't have the order. OK, 15 minutes later, a wing arrived. What about my drumstick? 15 minutes later the drumstick, still pink/red inside arrived. My husband already finished his meal, mine was cold waiting on the remainder of my meal, which eventually was just thrown out. After an hour and a half sitting in the dining room, I had enough. You the reader think to yourself, why did I wait to go to the counter and inquire. Well, a lot of the people coming in called ahead. They still had to wait for their orders too. You would think there would be better organization, but no. Essentially the counter staff are too young to operate without supervision or better training on how to operate. Watching the staff make plates for themselves, while I am still waiting for my order. Preparing to close, cleaning and organizing, while I am still waiting. The food was average. Chicken is not always cooked though. Happily my wings were, my drumsticks were not. It would be better with seasonings, but I am sure that is limited to accommodate working with general public.
