Cute little cafe in OB. Local spot with reasonably pricing. Service was awesome. The girl at the front is very personable, which I think goes a long way in this area. Large menu options from Avocado toast for $5, breakfast burritos & sandwiches and various coffee & blended drink options including smoothies. Easy going music on in the background & a small selection of board games to play while we waited for food, as well as a parking lot in the back. I brought three teenagers & they loved it. Such a cute little cafe! This place has amazing prices and food that's not ~too~ large so it's perfect for a snack before the beach. It's very small though, with no designated parking lot towards the cafe so just hope you get lucky enough to find a parking spot. The food was amazing! My boyfriend and I both loved our meals. Came here a few days in a row while staying near the area for breakfast. I love the ambiance and everyone here is so friendly. They have some seating indoors and a few tables outside for those who want to catch the sun. I ordered the earl gray latte, the breakfast burrito and a bagel with cream cheese. I loved the latte so much that I came back for it again! It just had the right flavor and you don't see this item in many places. The breakfast burrito was so delicious! I am not going to recommend this place to anyone, who is visiting San Diego and is a Foodie or just an adventurous tourist. In my opinion: 1. Customer service is at the lowest possible level. Customer is not right according to the employees and they know better what you want, even if you cannot eat certain types of food due to allergies. 2. As I was walking in, not even fully inside, I was asked to put on my face mask even though it had been already on my face and I was just fixing it and covering my nose. That is fine, providing that the person who is serving you, talking to you and asking you to do, is actually following the rules which he or she is trying to enforce. Silly. 3. An employee who works in the kitchen, does not follow COVID-10 regulations. According to the CDC recommendations, everyone who works in the food industry, must follow the regulations. Unless, there is a manager working there and will nicely explain to you, that they do not need wear a mask when preparing your order for you, because employees and managers breathe the same air.....Oh well. 4. I guess customer service depends on where you are from. I noticed a significant difference in an approach towards clients who could speak English language without an accent. I had high hopes for Cliffs Cafe. I can't speak to the rest of their menu, which looks amazing, but the Tropical bowls we ordered on Monday fell very short. The flavor was off and had overwhelming taste that was anything but fresh. It was a little metallic tasting. The fruit was definitely freshly cut but then frozen so it became pretty slimy as the bowl melted. Sadly I wasn't a fan but I wouldn't avoid this place. This place is a new favorite for sure! Was visiting from out of town and found this place within walking distance from where I was staying. The staff was very friendly, and the food and coffee was delicious. So good, I took some friends there the next day and tried another menu item and it was just as delicious. Was excited to try this out- but with everything going on with COVID, I'd hope the kitchen would be wearing masks. Not one cook/ chef/ employee in the kitchen was wearing a mask. It is an open kitchen and they didn't try to even hide that. My boyfriend addressed it & they defended it by saying 'we get tested every week'. This is not how I want my food to be handled in a pandemic. *in response to team: we already paid and were waiting for our food to be handed. Lesson learned to not go back and hopefully a fair warning to those who would like their food to be cooked by caring/ trusting employees. My boyfriend is a Sous Chef in a kitchen and they all wear masks, since they are handling food and could have been exposed at home. This is the same for your kitchen. They are not interacting with customers but should be wearing masks to protect the people eating your food. What's interesting to me, is reviewing all the poor reviews on this place, and the owner can't just apologize- instead he makes excuses for every single thing that went wrong for customers. Came here in the morning since my mom's hostel was right nearby and I tried their bagel sandwich and OB pier smoothie. Their bagel sandwich was really good but I personally don't think I'd get the smoothie again. My mom tried the pitaya açaí bowl and she really enjoyed it since it came with a lot of fruit and granola on top. They do take a bit longer for food orders so if you are in a rush, I'm not sure I'd recommend this spot but if you have some time on your hands, I'd definitely recommend trying this place. read more

I thought I would give this place a second chance since the cashier messed up my order the first time i went in. Didn't realize they were as pricey as they are for "customizing" a breakfast sandwich, maybe that's for leaving the egg out which is what i had asked the overly sensitive cashier for the the first day and she messed it up. There are no signs stating no restrooms At the restaurant. The restrooms were out of order And we ended up walking around looking for a place to go to the bathroom but no restrooms to be found . We returned to the restaurant Explained this to the staff who were rude and stated well that's how it is . I asked if we could use the employee restrooms and were told that they are out of order which I find hard to believe that the staff do not have a working restroom. The burrito was a good size and really good, only hang up was the potatoes were a little undercooked, but still really good. And it came with pretty decent salsa. The staff was very welcoming. We were so glad we chose this spot for our late breakfast on Saturday morning. It was pretty tiny inside, but they kept everything moving quickly, including getting food and drinks out....even for a Saturday on a busy holiday weekend! My daughter had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant and added the hashbrowns to it. She devoured it! I had the Monkey Business açaí smoothie bowl plus a sesame bagel with cream cheese. That smoothie bowl though!!! Absolutely delicious! I'm hooked! If/when we're ever back in Ocean Beach, we'll definitely visit this chill little spot again. It was perfect. read more
