I stopped here for their happy hour specials before going to an event. Discount glasses of wine, and half price apps? Score. It was not very busy, and early on a weeknight, so I scored a place on the patio. Jada was my server, and very nice, but I absolutely hate it when servers call me by cutesy names. The crowd was very diverse and everyone appeared to be enjoying the atmosphere. The menu options were decent and seemed to cover the various appetites in attendance. They played throwback music (2000s), had heaters outside on the patio, and there was a good amount of people streaming in and out. We sat right down outdoors, tho the wait inside was a while. The meatball was pretty good seasoned well and cooked properly so my hopes were up going into my entree. I ordered blackened fish scampi. It was neither blackened or scampi. The base components of scampi were all missing and the fish was severely under seasoned. Salt and pepper go a long way when executed properly. I've been to common table multiple times throughout the years and the service is always hit or miss. They're known for there popular weekend hip hop brunch, which is always super crowded and busy. There's hardly ever no wait so you have to get there early. The downside about brunch is that you can't make a reservation it's first come first serve which is annoying. I came this past Sunday and the hostess tried to offer us a table outside. I'm 8 months pregnant and this Texas heat is no joke so we definitely weren't sitting outside on the patio. We initially left and came back because the restaurant next door was closed. I noticed there was an empty table inside that had just got up so I mentioned it to the host. We proceeded over to the table and sat there for roughly 20-25 minutes without being greeted by any waiter. My hubby went to the bar to get drinks and after waiting so long we saw a few empty spots at the bar so we left the table and went to eat there. Before we moved I informed the hostess that nobody had came to our table she claimed that she would let them know but never did. I get that it was a busy weekend but that was ridiculous especially when they're putting an automatic gratuity charge of 20% on every check because there service is far from deserving of a 20% tip! They also have a venue fee, which is very dumb I've never heard of restaurants charging an extra fee. This place is price gouging there customers. Overall the food is ok but that's hit or miss too. A lot of the brunch items are horrible. The chicken and waffles was decent the chicken shrimp and grits was good however the eggs Benedict tasted like a cardboard box. The country fried steak is flavorless. The drinks are ok, they have huge towers that are overpriced and have very little alcohol in them. I'd say go check it out and see for yourself. read more

When asked about obviously empty seating we desired, we were told it was reserved. How is that possible when the system doesn't allow you to choose where you sit? This happened when inquiring about 3 sections. Absent real answers, one would think the hostesses are being shady with seating.
