    Steak and Augratin

The food and service here is most definitely 5 star all the way! Not just saying this but the food really is phenomenal and different than other eats. You HAVE TO try them. First their cocktails are amazing and delicious!Balanced and well made. The bartenders know how to make a balanced and delicious cocktail. I got the Paperplane! Best one I've had yet. Food was superb. We started with the Tuna Tartar with Cilantro on top. A very delicious appetizer to start with. Loved every bite. One of the best Tuna Tar Tar apps I've ever had. We then got the Shrimp salad. I know I sounds like a broken record but this salad was also super on point. Amazing tasting dressing. Fresh crispy lettuce. I then got the Halibut. Superb! Hot, fresh and great sauce that came along with it. Very filling and healthy. GF got the steak. She doesn't eat steak very often. BUT WHEN SHE DOES she always gets it from here. I took a few bites and it was on point. The Steak and Augratin potatoes were fire. Loved everything about this place. Highly recommend the food here. Can't go wrong!

Had dinner here to celebrate a Gender Reveal party. Ordered adult beverages, appetizers and entrees. Steak, Chicken, Halibut are the main entrees being presented on the main dinner menu. Received our meals in a timely manner. 5 stars for the customer service received. Our server had consistent communication with us, always checking up on us while we dined. The drinks were delicious but the main entrees were a bit salty and the portions size did not justify the prices being sold for. I was confused if this is supposed to be a fine dining place or a casual dining place due to dinner prices on the menu. Overall The ambiance is great. I would come here again. We had fun. In regards to the taste, I will give it another try with a different chef on board. Cool intimate place to chill.

    Bacon wrapped dates

These bacon wrapped dates were $15. Is this food for dolls? This is why I can't afford to eat out anymore.

Short ribs tacos are so tasty! The 48 hours fries are also a good dish to share! Plain French fries that are just good and perfectly air fry. Had a chance to try the steak tonight and that was perfectly cooked and well flavored! Delicious! The old fashion is good- if it's your drink come try it here! They do make a few other old fashion with a twist and those are fun too. The decore is so cute! There is a bar side with TV and bar stools and there is a sit down side for date nights and family. They also have outdoor seating. This place is a gem! The staff is also wonderful which always makes the dining experience that MUCH better. Plenty of parking outside.

We stopped in for a quick pre-dinner drink and were warmly greeted by Nick, the bartender, whose hospitality set the tone for a great experience. He mixed us two perfectly balanced French 75s. The flavor was crisp, refreshing, and clearly made with care. The intimate space, with its artsy decor and moody lighting, had an unexpectedly welcoming atmosphere, thanks to both the friendly staff and laid-back clientele. While we didn't sample the food this time, we'll happily return for another round before sushi. If the cocktails are any sign, the food is likely just as impressive.

Brown Sugar Buttercake was amazing and definitely in my Top 3. It comes with an incredible Maple Bourbon Glaze.

The decor is absolutely beautiful, with a cozy lounge feel, great music, and that hidden speakeasy energy that makes the night feel special. They also have lounge seating, a piano bar, fireplace, and 70s music, which adds to the whole experience.

This speakeasy is known for taking your cell phone and having a no photo policy. So when they didnt take our phones, we thought we were being sneaky with taking photos. Turns out on Sundays, it is their relaxed day where you are allowed to keep your phone, and they have the side door out onto PCH open. I loved this, but also hated it if I am being honest. PCH is so loud with motorcycles non stop, and it made the room very light. It didnt really feel like a speakeasy as you could enter right off the street. We entered through the hostess stand at HQ Gastropub. I had asked one of the hostesses what we needed to do and she stated she just arrived for work and I would have to ask another hostess when they came up to the stand. Bit weird, not the friendliest welcome, but the staff inside Graceland made up for that. The hostess lets them know we are there and someone comes out to take us back to the red door in the middle of the restaurant down a hall of colored barrels. Typically that is the only place you are allowed to take a photo before you hand over your phone. Back to the service. The bartender was AMAZING. She was so friendly and just amazing. Our waitress was great too, they were both helping us out. I wish I got the bartenders name, she was such a ray of sunshine and sparkle. Literally, she had a sequin top on and the sun hitting it put sparkle across the entire room. I had two glasses of chardonnay that were delicious. I also had a sip of my friends drinks and they were DELICIOUS! We did order food, and I ordered the spicy garlic edamame but never received it. I also was not charged for it, so it is what it is. The sushi nachos were good, as well as the beignets. I am not going to share the photos I took here, because I feel they want to keep it a surprise and I honor that. I would like to come back another time when the door is not open, it is darker and more private for the full speakeasy experience.

The decorations, the lights, and the music all come together to give an ambiance that just feels so inviting to where you want to take your time while you're here. The service is top notch, all the staff are lively and accommodating. The menu is very creative including fun drink names and plenty of versatility in the types of dishes you can order. Be on the lookout for special dishes on different days of the week. We ordered the steak and mushroom skewers which are nice appetizers to hold you over until the entrees hit the table. The drinks hit the spot as well and luckily we came during happy hour so we got a little discount on the apps/drinks. We decided to try roasted half chicken with the potato salad which were both absolutely fantastic. The chicken was cooked perfectly, just incredibly tender and juicy. The potato salad was well seasoned, had a great texture, and was a nice compliment to the chicken. As we were eating, a DJ came in and started mixing up some cool tracks which just amplified our experience even more. Also, Sonder is my favorite word so bonus points there (I guess I'm biased). Anyways, I'm thrilled with my first visit here and will undoubtedly be checking this place out again! Would highly recommend you come visit Sonder, you can thank me later!!

I've been a big fan of Kaizen and am so happy I finally got to try out Sonder next door!…read more Sonder is located in DTSA, and there's plenty of street parking plus a parking lot next to it. They took over the old El Mercado restaurant, and while the layout is similar, the vibes are completely different. I love the vinyl DJ setup, along with the colors and lighting they use now. We decided to stop by very last minute, but the host was so gracious to sneak us a spot at the bar. Service here was some of the best I've experienced in OC. Everyone was SO friendly, and made it feel like I was hanging out at a friend's place for great food and drinks. Shoutout to Tony who was taking care of us at the bar, he made the whole experience such a treat. Everyone was super attentive and was on top of everything too, making this such a lovely experience. On the drinks front, this place has one of the best Tequila offerings in the area, and they also have a great selection of unique cocktails to try from. Tony made me something off menu that reminded me of a tequila/gin gimlet, and it was spectacular. On the food front, I enjoyed a lot of the stuff we got, with a few critiques: * 6100 Sourdough: The bread was delicious but the ricotta was completely overpowered by the saffron. If you love saffron then this is for you. * Little Gem Salad: This was a good, standard issue salad. If you're craving some greens it's a nice addition to any meal. * Seafood Cocktail: This was my favorite dish, it was so fresh and flavorful, and all of the seafood was tender. My only critique is I wish that the shrimp was prepared similar to the other seafood instead of being in large chunks, but that's just a personal preference. I will be coming back for this dish again. * Scallop Skewer: Another standout dish, the scallops were perfectly prepared and the sauce used was so good we put it on everything else we ate too. Highly recommend. * Chicken Oyster Skewer: Really tasty, the chicken was perfectly cooked. Wished there was some spice to it, but that's where the scallop sauce came in handy. Overall, Sonder is a welcome addition to the area and I highly recommend checking it out. I think this was easily a 4.5/5 experience, and I have plans of coming back to try more of the food with a larger group.

I do like the fact that they have a large private room in the center of the restaurant. Well designed and furnished as well. Im looking forward to utilizing it one day. Ill keep you guys posted! I love the decor inside. Looks like an old world high end Vietnamese hotel. The atmosphere and ambiance is well put together. You would never know from the inside that you were sitting in a shopping center in Founyain Valley next to a Salvation Army. Service is really quick. Our waitress was really nice. Came out with the drinks and food really fast. They have a good amount of drink options. I would say only 2nd best to Vox's drink menu. They also have a great amount of food options from shareables and small plates to dimsum to house specials to larger entree dishes. We ordered the following and were pleasantly surprised with everything we got: 1. Beef tendon- lots of aromatics and leafy greens. Really lightened each bite. Thinly sliced tendon. Enjoyed the oil sauce on the bottom. It was a good cold starter. 2. General tso's chicken wings- love the crunchiness. Really enjoyed the flavors to it. The sauce was just amazing, thick and sticky. Literally finger licking good! 3. Salt and pepper calamari- the actual calamari was very good. Crunchy. Salty. Lots of seasoning and chilis. The wasabi mayo sauce wasent the greatest. Too wasabi forward. Ended up dipping it in the chili oil of the wanton dish. 4. Shrimp wanton in chili oil- this was one of the best appetizers we got. Just it sitting in the chili oil itself was amazing. Lots of filling. Good thin dough. Really good mouth feel. I loved the flavors of it. 5. Steamed pork buns- the dough was really soft and pillowy. Not dense. It was pretty good. Filling was a little too moist for me. But nonetheless pretty good. 6. King fu panda cocktail- I loved the container it came in. This little clay cup. Drink tastes great. Very smooth and fruity tasting. 7. Pine crumb cocktail- this drink was visually so pretty. Light and refreshing. A great summer cocktail. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves here. The decor, the ambiance, and the quick service. Food and drinks were amazing. I can see why this place is so big because the lunch crowd is pretty massive and this place gets pretty full. I do want to start by saying the staff was accommodating. When I made my reservation online, it only allowed me to book for six or eight guests (I can't remember which), but I had a party of 10. They were able to accommodate us and update the reservation so our full group could celebrate together, which I really appreciated. When I made the reservation, the only available time slot online was 8:45 PM. The earlier time slots were to early for the rest of my guest , so we booked what was offered. We didn't think that would leave us with such a short amount of time before closing at 10:00 PM. We also didn't realize until we got there that they don't serve full meals just appetizers. To be fair, I take some responsibility for that. I should have looked at the menu ahead of time, watched a few video reviews, and done a little more research before booking. That's on me. We still made the best of it. The girls were each able to enjoy a drink, the guys squeezed in two drinks each, and we ordered about three appetizers for the girls and three for the guys. Shortly after that, we were told it was last call for both drinks and appetizers because the kitchen and bar were closing. It felt like the evening ended almost as soon as it began. I do wish they had either not offered such a late reservation or at least let us know when booking that we'd have very limited time to order and enjoy the experience before everything shut down. If you're planning a birthday celebration or any gathering where you want to enjoy food, drinks, and time with your group, I would recommend booking an earlier reservation if possible or choosing another venue if only the late reservation is available. Hopefully, my experience helps someone else avoid making the same mistake.
