Honestly, burgers can be so personal, and even then, sometimes you want the classic kind vs the gourmet kind... or maybe you just want a greasy cheeseburger. Wonderful food and service at a fair price. I went here with my mom and sister for lunch and we all opted for the sushi rice salad with fresh ahi tuna. The server let us know the tuna had just gotten delivered that hour so we couldn't turn it out. The tuna was impeccable. Really so fresh and tender it practically melted in your mouth. All of the flavors in the bowl really pulled together nicely in great ratios. My only complaint was that the raw Brussels sprouts in the salad needed to be shaved down more as many of them were almost full sized. It also could have used the tiniest bit more of dressing. They did a good job overall keeping the tables spaced and the staff all wore masks. GREAT JOB! Our server Jenn was GREAT! She gave us superb recommendations for both food and drinks. This was our first visit to The Cottage, and we were extremely glad we found this place. A few lunch items were recommended and we could've ate them all, however, I settled on the short rib grilled cheese bites that was delicious. Sharon had a blackened tuna club and we had a fresh vegetable medley. Sharon had a lime mule with Hendrick's gin. I had an old-fashion with tequila that was incredibly delicious. Our hostess, Cindy was very personable and gave us our table in the perfect spot plus my recommendation for the short ribs. Our waitress Sarah was extremely friendly, funny and nice. She made my old fashion with the tequila which I've never had before...It was delicious. I asked for the manager, Steve, and explained what a great spot that he had here with his staff. He was very appreciative. I found out Mike the owner was sitting at the bar and I advised him of our fantastic lunch and staff that he had. We had a wonderful lunch with enjoyable staff. Maybe I'm not picky enough. I read reviews where people go off on the smallest things. The Cottage has good food, great service and is busy ( which indicates people like it). Came here with the girls on a weekend adventure in Siesta Key. We were looking for a good place to relax and enjoy some good seafood that wasn't going to break our bank. Yelp came to the rescue once again. When heading here when taking an Uber, it drops you off in front of another restaurant, but just look to your right of the house. It's a little hidden behind trees and hard to see the sign from the road. The outside patio is a few steps up. The atmosphere is super relaxing. We didn't have any problem getting seats on the patio. The cocktail menu has a lot of delicious sounding drinks and it was hard to make a decision. I stuck with my usual "vacation" mode drink. Piña colada with a floater. To be honest, one of the best ones I've had so far. Oh boy, was it good. Never mind the cocktail menu. Wait until you get to their regular food menu. I literally changed my mind three times on what I was going to order. Everything sounded so good. Two of us stuck with their Grouper sandwich and the other ordered their Sea Scallops. This was my second choice. I don't regret my decision. This came with fries, or for an additional $3 up-charge, you could turn these babies into Truffle fries. Yup, I ate my plate CLEAN! The Scallops my friend got were a very good size. These were cooked perfectly and accompanied with risotto. All three of us would come here again without a doubt. Could've opted for truffle fries but passed on that. In general this place is not bad, but I briefly want to go over why 3 is my absolute best here. First, staff is completely unorganized. Nobody came to our table like 30 minutes in, I had to go to the bar and get drinks myself because it was hot. In about 15 more, after complaining to bartender and 2 or 3 hosts (why would you even need more then one?) they sent a lady to us. Later on, I noticed that she had one or two tables in the street, and like one on either side of the patio. What kinda poorest manager in the world made zoning in this place? I would have him gone immediately. Why not to assign 1 waiter so certain area so they see if someone needs something? Terrible management! Again, WHY DO YOU NEED 2 or 3 HOSTS? Definitely coming back here! What a nice little stop and lovely patio for seating. I had a power salad that was different than any salad I've ever had. It had coconut mango and lettuce mix and seeds and just overall fantastic. My partner had a salad with Parmesan cheese. She said it was fresh and good. But the plantations were the star. I don't know what they put in the sauce, but it's the best sauce I've had on this trip. We were also there during happy hour and found out it was two for one drinks. And they let me swap out my second drink for a glass of wine as I didn't want another sangria. My partner had a basil blueberry vodka drink muddled together with fizzy water. Phenomenal from start to finish. We were sat right away, in the courtyard, on a busy, beautiful night in the village. Our server Brooke was fantastic despite have a couple of large parties. The courtyard is beautiful and we were lucky enough to have beautiful music that evening by Dean Johansen. The food was out of this world. Favorites...short rib grilled cheese, Brussels and plaintains and truffle fries were awesome. You must try these. The tuna tostadas and calamari were good as well.
