Came here with my husband, in-laws, and their 2 friends for dinner one night - we were seated at a high top in the bar area (I would have loved to sit outside but it was a long wait). The waitress was super friendly, drinks were yummy, apps were great, and dinners were delicious. Place is slightly off the main path of the Siesta Key village area, but worth walking down the block a bit. Has a nice patio and small, but comfortable and friendly interior. The service was also excellent, friendly and attentive, but not overly anxious... just let us take out time which is perfect for tapas. Everything was awesome. The group shared some items including the Won-ton Tuna Tacos. Nice spread of tacos with fresh, juicy and flavorful tuna topped with a bit of soy or hoisen, nicely spiced guacamole, a wasabi sauce, sriracha, cool crisp cucumber pieces to play off the spicy elements. We also had the PEI (Prince Edward Island) mussels. OMG! You should plan on drinking or sopping up all of the cilantro butter, wine and garlic sauce with the bread. Order extra bread with the mussels - believe me! Finally we had the cottage chips which were a mix of various potatoes and plantains. These were served with a couple of dippin' sauces including chimichuri with excellent parsley, garlic, red pepper flavor and a huancaina which was a creamy garlic and onion explosion. Just a very high caliber restaurant, a gem amidst a sea at Siesta Key. We had the Short Rib Cheese Bites for appetizer, and were just wonderful. For entree the Scallops and they were equally as savory. My dinner mate had the Tapa Cerveceria and I must say that it was the best I ever had, and a meal in itself. The atmosphere is extremely inviting, we ate inside, and will surely be back again. Their Billionaire Burger is the best burger I have ever had! And their fries are delicious as well. Our server, Rudy, was so personable and attentive. When I mentioned that I love a Spicy Margarita but that I found their Spicy Watermelon Margarita was a little too sweet and not spicy enough, he asked exactly how spicy we wanted it and had the bartender whip up a great spicy margarita! It's hard to pick a favorite spot in Siesta Key paradise, so I'll just say that every trip to this area starts with a trip to The Cottage. Unique drink concoctions and the best lobster bisque I have ever had, (to the extent that I had it twice in one day on this trip - ssshhh!). The ceviche is also amazing, full of flavor and punch that is atypical of the standard Florida seafood restaurant, with the mussels coming in my 3rd favorite. Oh - the bisque is gluten free, not that anyone would notice if they weren't looking for it/ super observant with the menu that makes eating gf here easy. I kind of eat & drink my way through Siesta, so I've tried a ton of appetizers down the strip...these are some of my faves. The front porch is great for people watching, but can get a little warm on cold drinks despite the fans, and the back porch is perfect for evenings with some live music and cool locals/ tourists. You really can't go wrong here. read more

3-Star restaurant trying to act like a 5-star. The high price of the food doesn't match the quality, nor does it match the dive bar aesthetic of the place. Our burgers were cooked improperly, both ordered medium, one coming back med-rare and the other rare. The up-charged truffle fries are just the normal fries with some truffle oil and powdered parmesan on top. Kraft mac-n-cheese style and a fruit cup for $10 for the kids. Of the group, our burger, salmon, and one mixed drink came to $89, what a joke. Added a star because our waitress was nice. read more

My wife and I had 2 amazing meals at the cottage. We loved it so much the first night we had to go back! Night 1 was ceviche, short ribs, and Mumbai chicken tapas and red snapper special, every one was delicious. Night 2 was Peruvian chicken and seafood scampi, also amazing! This was a very nice restaurant. There was a lot of variety and the food was very good. I got the tuna tacos and there were great. A little bit spicy but not too much. I also got the risotto. It was the best risotto I've ever had. My only reason for four stars was the restaurant was a little bit expensive. It was also very dark inside. Overall I would recommend this place. read more

Dined in the "courtyard" here for a Vacay in Siesta Keys and we are from Dallas Tx - we love great restaurants and appreciate exquisite food, presentation, atmosphere, and quality attentive service! I recommend dining in their courtyard- it's very cozy and quaint. Much different than inside the restaurant or on their front patio. There was live very tasteful music (the musician that night played delightful romantic songs which definitely added something special to the ambiance of our experience !) We were extremely pleased with the "amazing" food and can I say SERVICE?!!! WOW! Our waiter was most knowledgeable about each menu item and his recommendations were "right on"! (I forgot his name because I'm writing this 2 weeks later). He listened to our specific questions when we were determining our decisions and consulted each one of us based on what we told him we like! This made a HUGE difference in how much we LOVED what we ordered! I honestly recommend anything on their menu including their refreshing drinks! - we even added a to go order to take something home to grandma who was babysitting! She loved it too! We are In siesta key for a week vacation, and have already eaten at The Cottage twice. The food is fabulous and so is the service. For starters we had the lobster bisque and tuna tacoshimi, and ordered the grouper sandwich for the main course. All delicious and we ate every bite. Our kids enjoyed the hamburgers and french fries. Back for the third time this is my favorite place on Siesta Key! When my boyfriend and I come we always share a ton of their tapas items, this visit we enjoyed the crab cake, wanton tuna tacos and the tempura shrimp. All tapas plates were delicious and had a great presentation! The menu does feature entrees in case you're not into tapas or sharing plates. For beverages we enjoyed wine and cocktails, I had the Adam and Eve, a cocktail topped with prosecco- yum. Overall great taste but just a tad over priced. We went for happy hour and the drinks were all a little too sweet. The grouper sandwich was light and crispy and we really enjoyed the fries. The poke however was a little small for the price and not enough wontons were served with it to make the ratio of fish to crunch enjoyable. Staff was efficient and generally nice. We just went for drinks and to see one of our favorite local musicians play. We sat at the bar and were greeted with a smile and a friendly attitude, which after a series of apathetic servers and bartenders around town was a refreshing change. Didn't know what to expect when I saw they served Peruvian dishes, but I will be back! Absolutely fantastic! We chose the indoor seating to be cooler. It's dim and cozy, with all high top seating and a bar. The music felt out of place with like 70's/80's pop music, maybe some Spanish guitar melodies would fit better. They also offer nice patio seating with good shade and air flow. Service was awesome, Garrett made a few suggestions and every one was amazing. We had the Tempura Shrimp w/ Sweet Chili Glaze tapa, so delicious! The Forbidden Salmon entree was hands down the best salmon we've ever had! Comes with Forbidden Black Rice on the side which was unique and so yummy. Also had the Diver Sea Scallops that were perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth deliciousness. The risotto on the side was a bit dry and less flavorful than I expected, but still good. We don't get to the area often, but we might just make an extra stop to eat here. Loved it. read more

Very much yes. I did not regret a BITE of that burger. Don't get the French fries with TrUFfle lol. They taste no different from the regular fries. The Lobster Bisque is the perfect amount of creamy without being too heavy. We also had the Big Island Tuna Poke- I was skeptical of the Hawaiian tostones when I saw them on the menu, but they certainly didn't disappoint- crispy on the outside mixed with the poke and seaweed made for a great combination. Good drinks , Good service , Bad food . Appetizer - Mussels - old , had a funny taste . Maybe previously frozen. the broth was good but mussels themselves were not edible. The lobster roll - Lobster meat had been in the freezer too long , and the commodity frozen seasoned fries were not good. "grouper sandwich " - Once again fish was either previously frozen or not grouper at all . The taste of the fish was very old . They need to drop the Commodity seasoned fries " not good " Their signature Burger was terrible - First its a frozen bulk burger patty . They claim its a tri blend and It is not ! The truffle onion cheese marmalade was just a sloppy mess . I was very hungry so I wiped that onion mess and asked for a tomato and mayo and tried to force this thing down. Once again really bad seasoned fries .Why not just cut fresh fries they are much better. Advise - Good place to get a drink but eat somewhere else read more
