So I found this spot after leaving a massage spot. My wife and I are huge foodies and we both have an eye for a potential find. THIS PLACE DID NOT FAIL!!! Flavors was superb! I'm from South Florida and recently moved to SoCal. I was excited to discover this place and they check out. They were playing old school Latin music in the restaurant and the vibe just made me feel like I was back in Miami. The employees were on-point and had great customer service. The food here is great. Very tasty and the few places you can even get Cuban food. Just be aware that their prices when ordering online is more expensive even if you order off their website. It's best to just order there or call in your order. The cost savings I would say is significant. It is a family owned restaurant which I appreciate and like supporting. The one negative I would say is when I showed up to pick up my food, all the young workers were standing in the kitchen talking and laughing away. I wanted to make my trip worth it. The man at the counter joked around with my roommate and kept trying to get her to try their food but she's so scared of trying new things. I ordered La bandera, because like, come on. I also ordered maduros and two empanadas and paid around $18-$20. The empanadas were and puffy with minimal contents. Pet peeve. La bandera was really, really flavorful, but I couldn't help but feel like the portion was significantly smaller than what I'd seen in photos. The maduros were good, but those are hard to mess up. I loved the decor inside, it definitely reminded me of some of the Cuban spots back home. My family and I were looking for somewhere new to try and since we all have never experienced a Cuban sandwich, we stopped here on a recent Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Original Cuban Sandwich (menu item #2) which was the Original sandwich with Serrano ham and Spanish Chorizo added. My wife and two sons were all in a beef type of mood and all ordered the Pan con Bistec (menu item #6). We also ordered a side of fried plantains and four canned sodas. The sandwiches were son delivered from the kitchen fresh and hot. One each plate was one strip of a fried plantain. The sandwiches were all really tasty and was a great way to be introduced to Cuban sandwiches! I was slightly disappointed that the side of fried plantain seemed kinda inadequate for the price since only 4 strips was the side order. They were tasty and again our first time trying this and enjoying it as well. I asked the owner which condiment in the squeeze bottles on the counter was the spiciest. She told me and I squirted it generously on my sandwich. I was disappointed as the spice level was very mild for my liking. Found this place while looking for our hotel. Food was good for me, but hsb is Puerto Rican. He ordered a Cuban and found no pickles nor mustard- standard for those sandwiches. For him, that's a no go. My order however was delicious. Had the ropa vieja empanada and fried yucca - YUM! They don't serve beer. That would have been great to have with our meal. This place is good. Please dont get me wrong. The bread for the sandwiches taste a little odd to me though. Like a sourdough/ stale bread mix. The potato balls are a bit well done for my liking and the flavor feels like its missing something inside. We visited this place last Saturday. The service was very good. We tried the ossobuco and the breaded beefsteak. The ossobuco was found good. But the breaded beefsteak had some sort of sauce with onions that made the whole food too sour. It seems that the "mojo" was made purely with vinegar. I would had preferred to get the sauce as a side and not on top of the food. The black beans had no flavor. The rice was over cooked and too soft. We tasted the empanadas and those were delicious. Maybe it was that we arrived after rush hour (1:30 PM) and the rice was still cooking. The other thing is that the food was served cold. I don't know if we will be back.
