After seeing others posts about The Cuban Hut on one of my local foodie pages, I had to give then a shot. I was hard to decide because it all sounded good. 8 ended up getting the Tony Montana which is a Cuban with extra meat. It was huge and so full of flavor. The bread was toasted perfectly and whatever that sauce they give you on the side is a great add on. wish I would have asked for more. The other sammich I got was the El Cheo. its like a breakfast sandwich, egg, cheese, chorizo that was imported from Spain I was told and bacon. Found this place while looking for our hotel. Food was good for me, but hsb is Puerto Rican. He ordered a Cuban and found no pickles nor mustard- standard for those sandwiches. For him, that's a no go. My order however was delicious. Had the ropa vieja empanada and fried yucca - YUM! They don't serve beer. That would have been great to have with our meal. We visited this place last Saturday. The service was very good. We tried the ossobuco and the breaded beefsteak. The ossobuco was found good. But the breaded beefsteak had some sort of sauce with onions that made the whole food too sour. It seems that the "mojo" was made purely with vinegar. I would had preferred to get the sauce as a side and not on top of the food. The black beans had no flavor. The rice was over cooked and too soft. We tasted the empanadas and those were delicious. Maybe it was that we arrived after rush hour (1:30 PM) and the rice was still cooking. The other thing is that the food was served cold. I don't know if we will be back. This place is a hidden gem! We were driving through Temecula and my daughter said she wanted empanadas. We came across this place in Yelp and it did not disappoint. She had one beef and one chicken empanada and she liked the beef empanada more but said the chicken one was good too. We also ordered a Cuban sandwich and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Both were extremely flavorful and they came with homemade chips that were crispy and delicious. We will definitely be coming back to try their Lechon which looked amazing. Disappointed. Ordered the sampler plate which was on special for the day. My food had just came out when I noticed on the receipt they added an extra zero and charged me more than 100$ for my food... lucky thing I had caught it since no one else did. The cashier insisted on fixing it right away which took 15 minutes, and although she was very polite and sorry it happened, my food was cold by the time I came back to it. I thought eh whatever, and ate, but the food was just ok. Then I tasted the chicken... yuck. It was the chopped up chicken they put in some kind of sauce and it was clear that they used leftover days old chicken for this dish. Old chicken has a very particular flavor and this chicken was very obviously bad. I see why it was on special... perhaps trying to clear their stock of leftovers. The folks around us were eating the guava pastelitos so we decided to order dessert and I'm glad we did. The pastry and churros were fresh and delicious but the flan was by far the best I've ever had. It was extremely creamy and firm and the sauce was perfection. First visit to The Cuban Hut after driving by many times and I'm glad I tried it out. An array of authentic Cuban recipes freshly prepared to order in a cozy, clean and attractive venue. You are greeted upon entry by the friendly staff and place your order at the front counter. Many delicious-sounding entrees await the Cuban food aficionado as well as the newbie. An assortment of canned and bottled beverages are available, but conspicuously absent are the usual fountain-dispensed soft drinks. I ordered the signature El Cubano sandwich which I have to say was the best example of this iconic Cuban sammy that I have ever tasted. Yum! My dining companion ordered the oxtails (Rabo Encendido) which were also excellent. We shared a Croquetta de Bacalao and a Yucca Rellena which were both quite tasty and would definitely be ordered again. As we were dining in rather than doing take-out, I was slightly surprised when our orders were brought to our table not on typical restaurant plates, but in styrofoam take-out containers. Stopped in for a quick Cuban sandwich. Our normal spot is in another section of town which was quiet busy at the time and I drove right past this place. Almost missed it as I frequent south Temecula more. There were a few people waiting for their food when I came in, and I eagerly looked at the plates as they came out, some looked very good! A minute later out comes my cuban and off I go.... sitting in the car I think to myself I'll just have a quick bite, a I am in the 20 min only spot right in front. Hummmm 1/2 sandwich GONE! Yummy! There is a reason this is one of, if not the only restaurant I have ever reviewed. Their service and speed is completely fine, but this is the best Cuban food I have ever had, one of my favorite restaurants that I have ever eaten at, like top 5. Today I went in and they were communicating about making fresh empanadas for my order while I waited, they were incredible even after having them in the fridge for a bit. I thought SF had good Cuban food but the quality of the bread they use on the Cubano and the crisp plantain chips were awesome. It was a little pricey seemingly but you get 2-3 meals out of a couple empanadas and a sandwich. 11/10 read more
