The Hanover location is small but it has a lot of charm. Half order black pasta Alfredo with scallop Half order white pasta Alfredo Lobster diavlo Fish and chips Absolutely loved the food. The Alfredo was creamy and cheesy, the pasta was so delicious. The lobster diavlo was a bit spiced but huge! Whole lobster plus a ton of linguine mussels clams and some shrimp. The black squid ink pasta is the reason my wife wants to go back to Boston! Really down home and intimate place where you really feel like you are in someone's kitchen getting the best food. This place is pretty small with a long wait, but it was very much worth it. The whole kitchen is visible from the seating, and it was an incredible experience to be able to see the 3 man team cook all the dishes. Tried the Mussels Siciliano, Broiled Haddock, Linguini w/ White Sauce, and Lobster Fra Diavolo. All were so seemingly simple but so incredibly good. The experience as a whole was awesome. read more

I have been coming to the North End location of The Daily Catch since I lived in Boston in the 1990's - and one thing remains the same over the years, consistently delicious food that is not fussy, just damn good! We now live in Maine, but visit Boston frequently and always find ourselves coming back. The squid ink linguine and the mussels are my usuals, but the calamari is great and I love the arrabbiata as well. I have never been to the other locations but the Hanover St is walk-in only and the place is teeny-tiny, which I love! Cash is King here so make sure you bring some with you or find an ATM on your walk there. read more

Recommend: Yes! We flew into Boston and were driving to New Hampshire but had folks recommend The Daily Catch. HIGHLY recommend making RESERVATIONS!! Service: The service was good. We quickly got sat at a table since we had reservations. Our order was taken quickly. We had severe folks check in with us to make sure we were taken care of. The food took a bit long to get but it was worth the wait for the shrimp linguine. Food: I orders the Shrimp Linguine and my mom had the Fish and Chips. The Linguine came in the pot it was made! I was a bit taken aback but in the end I was able to get all the flavors, pasta, and shrimp. I'm a bit ashamed to say that they brought over some bread and I soaked up the linguine juices from the pan! ‍. The Fish and Chips was good with tartar sauce, it could have been a little bit crispier though. The fries were delicious. Came here on a Monday for lunch at 11AM, and there was no wait. It is cash only, but there's a nearby ATM if you need it. I got the 1/2 size Aglio Olio (with added scallops), and my bf got the calamari platter. Each dish was a little over $30. The Aglio Olio was pretty good, but on the salty side. The noodles were on the soft side, not cooked al dente. It was quite oily. The ground calamari was interesting - reminds me of ground beef texture. The scallops were soft and perfectly cooked. The calamari platter was solid. The fried calamari and the calamari were my fave. The calamari meatball/stuffed calamari weren't super good. read more

CASH ONLY! The space is small and it's open in the sense that you can see into the kitchen because there's no wall. They have maybe 6 tables total? So if it's busy, you might have to wait in line outside. There's no room for a stroller (which we found out because we had one lol) but they let us keep it right outside the restaurant under the open window for us to see - nothing was taken. A group of 4 shared: Aglio olio squid ink pasta (half $19.50): ground calamari, sauteed with EVOO and garlic. Topped with romano cheese and parsley. The ground calamari was interesting, I've never had something like that before. It had a nice saltiness that I enjoyed and the pasta itself was good Alfredo squid ink pasta with shrimp (half $19.50 + shrimp $10): heavy cream reduction, butter and romano cheese. Just standard - nothing amazing or bad to say about this dish Vongole Neapolitan ($32): pasta with clams in their white sauce (fresh garlic, EVOO, fresh clam juice, and parsley). Probably my favorite - the sauce was light, flavorful and delicious! And they gave us a good portion of clams as well I like that some of the pastas came in the pan it was cooked in. Everything tasted fresh and the wait wasn't too long either. I would skip the wine (all previously opened bottles). read more

This was hands down the best pasta I've ever had. If you love scallops and garlic, this pasta is for you. It's a small restaurant, so seating is very limited. Make sure to go right when they open so you can get a table! 10/10 would eat there again. read more

This place reminds me of the tapas restaurants in Madrid where everyone makes room for others to sit in limited communal seating. With excellent service. The Lobster Fra Diovolo blew our minds. The daily catch is an institution for a reason. We got there at about 4:45 and were the second group in line (we knew we would be difficult to seat as a group of 6 - the restaurant is very small) so we waited about two hours to be seated. Would definitely recommend coming as a two-person party to be seated more quickly. That said, it was worth the wait. We had the best time and the food was incredible. The calamari was over cooked and chewy not at all what their claim to fame suggests. The service was mediocre at best, service was curt. Ambiance was more a cheap greasy fast food spot you go to after a clubbing and not expecting anything great. Overall the food was not very good and highly over priced. cannot recommend to anyone. This is a cash only restaurant. There's only around 20 seats but we were able to walk in on a Sunday around lunchtime. They'll serve you bread as soon as you sit down. The house salad is super fresh and the veggies are crispy. Greater starter if you're wanting some greens. The black pasta and linguines are also good choices to order. They are served in the same pan used to cook the dish! The seafood platter was decent but not worth the price in my opinion. I'll probably just stick to the noodle/pasta dishes going forward. read more

Tiny little eatery, but worth sharing a table with another couple. Cash only, so be aware, but I think for the quality, fairly priced. Located in the North End or Little Italy area, after a walking tour we did, we stopped by here. We shared a bit pot of mixed seafood (lobster, crab, calamari, shrimp, oysters, and clams) in a yummy tomato sauce ( it wasn't spicy although they call it Fra Diavolo), a salad and French fries... delicious! read more

**CASH ONLY PLACE** I came here on a Tuesday evening and there was no wait. The place is quite small and probably sits around 16 people. We ordered the fried calamari, aglio olio, and the lobster fra diavolo. If I came back I would definitely re order the calamari and while I did like the aglio olio I would be interested to try their other pastas. We got the lobster fra diavolo for one ($67) but could honestly feed two. It came with lots of other seafood and the lobster was well cooked, but I think it's not worth the price and you could skip out on ordering this one. Well definitely consider going back read more

The Italian dishes in the North End NEVER misses! The Daily Catch is a nice, cozy, little Italian restaurant located just right across from Mike's Pastry. It only has about 6 tables inside and is able to seat maybe around 15-20 people so the space is a bit tight. There is also always a line outside of the door waiting to get in to try their phenomenal food. If you have the time, definitely get in line and wait to get in as it is definitely worth the wait! If you don't have the time, then make time! Haha My absolute favorite is their squid ink pasta Aglio Olio. It has ground calamari, olive oil, fresh garlic, and anchovy. It is served in the pan that it is cooked in, so you get allll of the flavor from the little bits that are stuck on the pan. Seriously, don't pass up on the Daily Catch. It is a must try! read more

Easily 5 stars. Hands down! No reservations. Cash only. (There's a bank nearby with an ATM.) The wait wasn't bad. And it was definitely worth it! We scored a table right at the window for some great people watching. It's very tiny. You will be cramped and crowded. But it's so cool and damn tasty! You can see the kitchen doing its thing. The menu is on the wall. It's all seafood and pasta. We had clams, the calamari platter, and the infamous squid ink pasta. Get the pasta! It was so incredibly delicious. Like, lick the plate clean and need more (even when full) delicious. Our server was wonderful. Overall, an absolute 5 star experience. read more

This place was definitely worth the wait! Very small seating area and they don't take reservations or have a waiting list, so you have to wait in line until a spot is available. Luckily we were the first in line so we were sat immediately once a spot opened up. Can get pretty loud because of the small area, but still a great dinner spot that feels intimate. Ordered the calamari, lobster fra diavolo dish for two, and the squid ink pasta. The squid ink pasta is the best I've had, especially paired with the spicy vinaigrette. First time at Daily catch. We were impressed and love the cozy feel of the place. We got there about 7pm and waited a few minutes for a table. The clams casino was a hit and full of clam meat. We ordered the Lobster Fra Diavolo for two people. It was a flood of spicy tomato sauce with lots of linguine and some seafood. The flavor was not there. It was bland, nothing but spicy. I like spicy food, but not when it is the only flavor. I was disappointed. If the food were good, I wouldn't have mided such a small, cramped dining space! Tried this spot because I was craving a good lobster roll, but honestly... it was just okay. The lobster itself was fresh, but the portion felt a little small for the price. The roll was a bit too soggy for my taste, and it needed more seasoning or butter to bring out the flavor. Service was decent -- not super friendly, but not rude either. We waited about 30 minutes even though the place wasn't that full, which was kind of surprising. The vibe was chill, and I liked the nautical decor, but overall, it didn't quite live up to the hype. We're from the South and we needed some serious seasoning in our lives. So, we decided to check out The Daily Catch in Boston, and let me tell you, it was the only restaurant in town that could give us what we needed. The food at the Omni at Seaport was okay, but nothing compared to The Daily Catch. Our waiter there was amazing! So patient with us because we were taking our time and carefully picking apart the menu. I would give it 10 stars if I could!! read more

If you're a pasta lover like me, you have to try this place. I ordered the penne arrabbiata and it had just the right amount of spice. The sauce tasted homemade and rich in tomato flavor. What I loved most was that the pasta wasn't mushy it still had a little bite. The garlic bread they served with it was so good I ended up ordering more. The server gave me great wine pairing suggestions too. I liked the ambiance, very laid-back and quiet. 10/10 will come back with friends. read more

The restaurant has a great story but missed the mark on execution. If your family is anything like mine, a family meal can be somewhat chaotic -- who is bringing what, entrees ready with appetizers and (my favorite) forgot to add the sugar into the dessert. The Freddura family owners certainly seem to have the chops to bring the flavor. The family originally hails from just outside the fortress city of Syracusa in Sicily and has been bringing fresh seafood to the North End for quite some time. Unfortunately, on this day for lunch, this family-run place more resembled a dinner with my family. We had trouble finding consistent performances. Our server seemed quite happy to stand by the kitchen instead of tending our table. Our oysters Rockefeller finally came but was under seasoned and chewy. They must have known because they presented it on bed of salt!. My swordfish was also a touch overdone. Perhaps it decided to hang in the kitchen a bit longer with our server. I am happy to report that the squid ink pastas were dramatically presented in skillets with fresh seafood hiding among the strands and that there was a nice sweetness to the monkfish (thank you Marsala!) Coming from a Sicilian family, this all would have been understandable if I visited the Freddura's for a meal. As paying customers, though, it's no go for me. Hoping they can make some tweaks to keep their tradition going strong. read more

It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.

Undoubtedly my favorite calamari to date and my new go-to for North End recommendations After getting ditched at the bars, my girlfriend and I decided to wander into a restaurant in the North End. Fortunately, we decided on The Daily Catch. After craning our necks for several minutes to read the menu, we decided to split both the Calamari Platter and the Aglio Olio. And goddamn, were they a treat. Fried Calamari is one of my favorite dishes, one I've ordered at upscale restaurants everywhere. I've had it delicately fried, with the freshest squid, and all but wrapped in gold. However, in this dinghy hole-in-the-wall, I discovered the best fried calamari I've had so far. This dish simply had so much FLAVOR. Try it and you'll understand. Easily worth a subway ride to the North End on its own. But of course, The Daily Catch had more to offer. My first experience with squid ink pasta, the Aglio Olio, was exactly that, an experience. I'm not sure whether this was due to the ink or the chef's expertise, but the pasta was delightfully chewy through and through. While my dish could have used more shredded squid, it was more than compensated by the powerful garlic flavor and incredibly large portion. I will definitely be taking advantage of these easy-on-the-wallet delights in the immediate future. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite it not being busy, our group was completely ignored throughout the entire dining experience, while other customers of different ethnicities received warm greetings and regular attention. Additionally, they only accepted cash payments, which raised suspicions of potential tax evasion. To make matters worse, as we were leaving and had just reached the door, a staff member called us back and demanded to inspect the money we had given for payment right in front of us. This made us extremely uncomfortable, as we have never encountered such treatment elsewhere before. Then, the server simply said, "You can leave," which I found to be very rude. I strongly suspect racial discrimination against Asians. It is disheartening to experience such behavior, as all customers should be treated equally. I am truly perplexed by the exorbitant prices and high ratings of this restaurant. The food quality was extremely poor, with seafood lacking freshness and pasta being too hard. We ordered the two-person portion of lobster pasta, but it was simply not filling enough; the portion size was too small. Considering what we received, the steep prices were completely unjustifiable. The line here is usually ridiculously long for dinner or on the weekends, but it's definitely worth the wait! It's a small space with very limited seating, but the food comes out quickly so it's not so bad. Note that ALL the dishes are probably meant to share between 2-3 people as the portions are pretty large and filling. I recommend the fried calamari as an appetizer and the lobster fra diavolo as the main dish. The calamari is crisped to perfection, yet soft to chew on... squeeze that lemon on it and no doubt that it'll be devoured within a couple of minutes. The lobster fra diavolo has a kick to it (my asian family didn't know fra diavolo = spicy lol) and is a mix of lobster, shrimp, mussels, clam, and other seafood. SUPER FLAVORFUL AND DELICIOUSSS, although I wish the seafood to pasta ratio was more even. The three times I've been there was always left over pasta, while the seafood is gone. The sauce itself is also good to dip your bread in. I've also tried the alfredo and black ink pasta but it was not for me. The people I was with enjoyed it, but I found the calamari and lobster fra diavolo to be tastier so I would just stick to those two. A friend studying in Boston recommended us to this restaurant. We often see long lines outside therefore we decided to give the place a try. To our disappointment the waiter was extremely rude. When we entered the restaurant he did not greet us. He smiled to the guest after us offered them bread and water. The menu was slightly confusing because most of the items contained seafood ( which I'm not keen on eating) I wanted to ask him for help but he simply said ' You have to wait be patient' I did not understand how the waiter could be nice to other people and be so rude to us. It made me so mad that I had to leave the restaurant and tell him 'We're not eating here because I think you're rude' and he said ' beautiful' in the most sarcastic way. As an asian I definitely did not feel welcomed here at all. Didn't stay in restaurant long enough to find out. Very poor service, perhaps even racist. Definitely very very Rude. I walked into the place and sat in a four seater. I went to use bathroom and Hang my coat on seat behind me and ordered a Haddock. When I left bathroom found my coat on a door knob across from bathroom. I went back to my seat and found 4 new customers on my table. I looked at the boss, she said rudely ("you're over there!!") and pointed to a small table in the corner. I talked to the politely boss to let her know, she should have talked to me before transferring me. Her waitress yelled at me that they were trying to run a business. I agree. That's why you ought to treat customers politely!!! Being the only asian in the restaurant at that time didn't help either. Can't say they're racist, but can say....extremely impolite. I had an exceptional dining experience at Elsie's restaurant for dinner the other evening so I went back for Brunch, too. The chef is so personal, introducing herself and addressing allergies or dietary restrictions, added a special touch. The owners are on site ensuring every detail is at the highest of standards. I felt I was eating at a high-end Boston restaurant with a local community feel. The Food was absolutely amazing. The staff was attentive, ensuring our comfort from arrival to departure. I went here on a slow Saturday afternoon. I was in the mood for fried shrimp. I wanted to see how good their food actually is and if it tastes too greasy, it didn't! I loved the atmosphere of the place and the front counter people were very friendly. Its refreshing because most of the time you have people who don't care at other food places. Anyways, back to the food: It was amazing, the portions were huge and i ended up having to take some back home in a togo box. My sister took me here for lunch one day. I was very intrigued by her stories of "black" pasta. The restaurant itself was pretty small, but like most of the restaurants in the North End, very busy. There was a line already for a large party to have lunch. Luckily, there was only 3 of us so we got seated right away. There wasn't a public restroom, you'd have to go across the street, but I didn't mind, as the pasta was devine. Your pastas are made fresh in ur own skillet, sizzling has it is served to you. My favorite spot in the North End. Small, simple, famly-run. Bring cash. Do not crowd the entry while you wait, you will incur the wrath of the owner (who is sweet if you are friendly or want to have a chat once you are in the restaurant). Yelp recommendations of favorite dishes are spot-on (I ask for *extra tentacles* in fried calamari). Note: Mike's Pastry across the street is terribly overrated. Modern Pastry, a block down Hanover, is better and doesn't have a line snaking around the block. Cash only! Takes no reservations and waiter was kind enough to seat us even after business hours. Ordered the black pasta with aglio olio. I know most loved this dish but I thought it was just all right. I recommend ordering the appetizer portion for two people. It's tough to believe anyone could have a poor meal here. The food is superb, worth the wait. But don't expect anything fancy, you go here to get real Italian home style cooking. Tiny little room with nothing special other than great food. Wine served in tiny plastic cups LOL, hits the spot. Don't pass this place, not lots of restaurants like these left. When I'm in the mood for seafood, this is my favorite place to go! I visited TDC last week in the seaport, which is the closest location to me (although I've visited one of their other locations as well). I always start with their clam chowder and then my go to dish, the black pasta Puttanesca, which never lets me down! The black pasta options on their menu are all massive portions and super fresh, I'm pretty sure they make the pasta in house. F-Yeah Daily Catch! I used to have a boss from Texas who hated seafood, but this is the best restaurant near my office, so we'd go anyway, when our auditors were springing! The lobster and crab bisque are awesome. I've had a ton of good entrees here as well. Everything from Tilapia to soft-shell crab. The Maryland crab cakes are a good go-to item, if you're not feeling too adventurous. Make sure you finish w/ the apple pie, it's unreal. Stopped by the daily catch last night. The waiter was super rude, and told us that they don't do take outs (I actually tip really well for take outs, that's too bad). Restaurant doesn't do take outs? Only those really good ones, or the really bad ones. Daily catch is not the former. Frankly the smell of the garlic was most of the appeal, the black pasta does taste good but they use way too much oil. Over priced food for tourists. It was my husband's first time at the Daily Catch and he could not have had a better cook than Mike at the North End location. If you've ever been to this location you know how tiny the place is and how incredibly hot it must be in the kitchen. Mike created magic despite the heat and the tiny space. The Putanesca was amazing and the five order of Fradiavolo he whipped up looked absolutely divine! I absolutely love this place!!! There is no other place I would go to for Italian food. Jimmy Lee is extremely talented and extremely fast!!! I have never seen an Asian chef at an Italian restaurant but he has been there for decades! I only go on the days that he would be there.
