Our first visit to Boston. Our first visit to North End. We used Yelp! To pick out a dinner spot based on ratings and restaurant description. Even before we got to our spot, we saw this tiny little place with an open air kitchen and a line of people almost a block long waiting to get in. My wife commented, "that's the place we should be eating....". Now our dinner wasn't bad, but truthfully, being 1/2 Sicilian, I've been eating home cooked Italian food my whole life. It takes a pretty great plate of pasta to move the needle for me. Again, the spot we picked was fine, but I kept thinking about what my wife had said earlier.... The next evening we weren't in the North End, but we found out the place everyone was waiting in line for was called The Daily Catch, and the REAL great news was they had a 2nd Waterfront location close to where we were hanging.. we snagged a table for two and had the meal we were looking for the first night. P.J. was our server and he was fucking great. Friendly, funny and honest, he made great recommendations and we were NOT disappointed. I ordered the Aolio Olio with calamari and black squid ink pasta. Absolutely amazing! My wife ordered the Scallops and Linguine in white sauce and again, it was lights out. Four days later we returned to North End - for our last day in town - and remembering the line, we decided lunch might be the safer bet to try and avoid the crowds. Imagine our surprise when we were seated by P.J., who waited on us during our first visit. As cool as their waterfront location was (it was definitely bigger), their North End spot has just got this vibe.... Now the weather was PERFECT during our lunch - sunny and in the 70's. We sat just off the street and ordered the Lobster Fra Diavolo (P.J.'s recommendation again). Again, he knocked it out of the park... and the serving for one person was more than enough for two. It was literally one of the best plates of food I've ever eaten. The Daily Catch in North end literally seats 22 guests and is cash only. There were three staff working the tiny space, and the open air kitchen and super friendly chef (didn't get his name) all added to what ended up being a truly unique experience. This place is no joke. If you're in Boston, and you want fresh and delicious Italian seafood... look no further.
We were on the tail end of a long east coast vacation recently when we found ourselves in Boston which overlapped with the World Cup festivities. Downtown was packed! On our itinerary was to do The Freedom Trail and have some pasta for dinner though I wasn't sure where. It turned out that we wandered through North End which had some incredible ambience so I decided we would eat an early dinner at The Daily Catch since it was a small place and due to the amount of people out and about. Fortunately we got in within minutes of waiting. My family wasn't exactly hungry but we ordered the black pasta aglio olio and the black pasta Alfredo. Given the small restaurant / just a few tables, the kitchen was highly efficient and brought the food out quick. It was fun to watch our dinner cooked as we were seated next to the kitchen. The aglio olio is something I could eat regularly. The ground calamari was unique and it was loaded with sautéed garlic. The best! I probably wouldn't order the Alfredo again personally but the kids liked it. Overall a great experience on a hot day. We were in and out fairly quick. Service was solid.
I've been here several times now and The Daily Catch never disappoints. Love the food, great service, and amazing vibes! I always will recommend their special that's sharable for two while my partner lives the black squid ink pasta. Either is a great choice though and we honestly get both despite it being way too much food every time. Calamari is solid too and everything tastes great. We always come right at open to avoid waiting given the small restaurant space, but it's always worth it. Just be warned they're also cash only as well!
Cozy little Italian restaurant in Boston. We came to Boston early on our road trip with the sole purpose of eating dinner here and was very glad we got there early, as there was already a line forming by restaurant open. The combination of it being limited seating (it holds less than 20 people) and being a popular spot makes it quite hard to get in without a long wait, so I would recommend right when it opens. Food wise, we got the Squid Ink Pasta and Calamari. The calamari was the perfect combination of crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside, which I find a lot of restaurants don't do a great job of doing. The squid ink pasta was also delicious and on par with any quality Italian restaurants in NYC. I would come back again if I'm ever in the Boston area and want a nice Italian restaurant. Also this place is CASH ONLY so be prepared before coming.
Came here at 5pm on a Monday straight from the airport, it's only a 15min drive. There is plenty of street parking and also an expensive lot across the street. The place was pretty empty but I was promptly greeted by the bartender. They have a nice short menu, I ordered the halibut which was absolutely delicious. Probably some of the best halibut I had!
I stopped here as I was walking around touring the city. I ordered the calamari which was delicious, but a little expensive for the portion. The service guy was very kind and making jokes with me. I liked that this restaurant could be ordered from the street and handed to you, so I didn't have to sit down inside. I took it down the road to the park to enjoy. The walk up stand was on the corner which was very nice so it had clear designated spots for ordering and picking up. It only took about 5-10 minutes for my calamari to be fried up in fresh oil. The outside of the restaurant is very cool and it's nice that you can see what they're doing and cooking inside from the street. Fresh fish was being delivered as I waited for my order! Great place!
Wow - another home run meal! Today was the third time we've been to the Daily Catch on Hanover in the last 10 years. This time we brought another couple with us. We arrived well before opening time to ensure we could get a table. We were the first ones in and we chose the 4-top right across from the kitchen prep table. We are able to watch the cook breakdown the fresh lobster and get things prepared for lunch service. The Asian man that was doing the food prep and meal cooking was a machine. So fast and precise. I really enjoyed watching him as well as the server / mgr take care of taking and delivering orders and everything else. Our group of four ordered as follows: - Shrimp, Scallops and Broccoli with Linguini in a Red sauce plus extra Garlic - Shrimp and Calamari with Linguini in a White (Scampi-like) sauce - Scallops with Linguini in a Red sauce - Littleneck Clams in a White (Scampi-like) sauce - Stuffed Calamari appetizer To a person, we enjoyed our meals. Both meals the white sauce felt it was a bit heavy on the white wine in the sauce. I can't wait until the next time we return to Boston - mostly for the food!
We did not eat inside the restaurant itself, but we did do the takeout menu as we did not want to sit down and eat. Was not the full menu but had a lot of things we wanted to try. The people were kind and friendly. We ordered the 1. Ink Pasta 2. Clam Chowder Both were really good and price was worth it. It may not look much, but it does fill you up. It does cost quite a bit, but definitely worth the money. We got the food really quick as well. The pasta was nice and warm and full of butter. I like the chowder too even though it did give me lots of gas.
Ambiance: The restaurant is lively but very small, so be prepared for a line that can get pretty long. Seating is first-come, first-served, and it's cash only. Calamari Meatballs: An interesting dish, though not my favorite. The flavor had a bit of a strange aftertaste, but the sauce was light and tasty. It comes with two regular-sized meatballs, so it's more of a starter than a entree. Lobster Fra Diavolo: Fantastic! Generous portions of seafood and pasta, with the lobster cooked perfectly (soft, buttery, and delicious). The other seafood was also very fresh, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice.
Excellent food. Oyters are so yummy. Ink pasta is amazing with scallops. Fish n chips are also very good. Our server was very good and the place is spacious. Theres also patio sitting. Must make a reservation if you don't want to wait. We got lucky to just get seated without a reservations. It was our last day in Boston and was so happy that we're able to have our dinner here.
A small hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant. The locals recommended we stop by here for lunch while visiting Boston and it was well worth it! The kitchen is right next to the dining area so you can watch the chef in action. All the dishes were flavorful but I'd say my top dish was the clam pasta. The Monkfish Marsala does have a sweet taste to it and a nice aroma. We definitely came out of there fully stuffed and likely will come back in the future! Be aware that they take cash only.
It's a small, cash only restaurant. I came on a Monday afternoon. Tourists were coming in. The server was nice and friendly. The pasta was served in the pan. It was good but not memorable. They serve a little bread with EVOO. Portion was generous.
The Daily Catch might be my favorite restaurant in Boston. I've been to the North End twice, and both times I ended up eating here. First off, the bread they give as an appetizer is really good with the olive oil and vinegar. But the star of the show is definitely the Black Pasta Aglio Olio. It's made with squid ink pasta, which gives it that black color, and it's tossed in garlic, olive oil, and parsley. The pasta has this nice chewy texture, and the little pieces of calamari add a subtle seafood flavor. It looks so simple, yet it's incredibly addicting. The Shrimp, Scallop, Broccoli & Linguine was also delicious, especially those whole pieces of scallop. I'm already waiting for my next excuse to go back again.

I've been here twice already. I got aglio olio squid ink pasta during my first visit and I was not impressed by it. As for my second visit, we got the putanesca squid ink pasta, calamari and mussels pasta. The putanesca sauce for the squid ink pasta was way better than the aglio olio. We also opt to add some shrimps and scallops which I don't think was worth it. All of us loved their calamari, especially when you use the vinegar they have. It's very seldom that you see restaurants offer this as its usually served with tartar sauce. The other pasta was also really good and had lots of mussels in it. I think the calamari and the mussels pasta was really worth it! read more
My friends and I came here after seeing it on Food network. Small, hole-in-the-wall place with seating for about 20. We came at 3pm so no waiting and we were the only ones in the place. This however didn't make the staff any friendlier. The host/waiter did get a lot friendlier as time went on, I think because we had a mutual hatred of Guy Fieri. The food was really good and authentic. I had the mussels liguini with red sauce. Nice garlic and fresh tomato flavor, but I did have to add a little red pepper to brighten it up. Large portions, which could easily be shared by two...even though I was starving and hadn't eaten all day prior to arriving. read more

It was a rainy and windy day when we stumbled upon this interesting Italian restaurant. We came across The Daily Catch on Yelp and the pictures of their food sold the deal! First of all, it was kinda hard to find. They have a very small store front but it's even smaller when you walk in! The kitchen is literally inside the seating area. Therefore, they have only about 5 small tables for service. Luckily we came on a weekday lunch time. I can't imagine the wait time during weekend busy hours. We sat down and realized there was no menu. They have everything they offer on a big blackboard hanging on the wall. One thing to note on the board: CASH ONLY!!!! like other places in this area. We selected two of their popular dishes on the menu then watched the chef went to work. It was great to have the kitchen in the restaurant because we got to see each of preparation steps and smelled the delicious food as it gets ready. I absolutely loved both of dishes we ordered. BLACK PASTA AGLIO OLIO - ground squid sauteed with garlic and olive oil. Two portion sizes, entree or appetizer. Even the appetizer portion was big enough to share. I loved their home-made ink pasta! cooked perfectly, flavorful and compliments perfectly with the ground squid sauce made with garlic and olive oil. It's amazing how simple ingredients can create such complex flavors. I enjoyed every bite of this plate. LOBSTER FRA DIAVOLO - lobster, mussels, clams, calamari, shrimp over pasta in spicy red sauce. Wow! I wish there are more places serving this type of pasta! It features the entire lobster in the pasta. The red spicy tomato sauce was perfect agent combining all the strong seafood flavors. This dish was large enough for 3 people in my opinion. There were lots of seafood and large amount of pasta as well. It was an amazing lunch for us, probably the best meal we had in Boston. It was a small simple restaurant serving big complex Italian food. I love it! I will totally come back when I visit Boston again. read more

After watching the Boston episode of Bizarre Foods America, I was especially excited to swing by The Daily Catch. Whenever I see a menu with an al nero di seppia or tinta de calamar pasta dish, I just have to have it... especially here at The Daily Catch, where the infamous black pasta stars in the center of the chalkboard menu. I ordered the appetizer portion of the homemade black pasta prepared aglio olio. Though literally translated as "garlic and oil," the pasta aglio olio here is so much more. The perfectly al dente pasta was coated in garlicky, flavorful sauteed ground squid and glistening (but not greasy) with olive oil. The pasta itself was hand-pulled with a thickness reminiscent of udon and sharing its chewy and firm texture. SO FREAKING GOOD. We also got a small order of the fried calamari and a side of marinara sauce. You really can't go wrong with fried calamari, but the one here is pretty stellar. The crunchy batter was not too thick or grainy, the squid was fresh (the body was cut into strips and not those rubbery pre-cut frozen rings), and there were plenty of leg/tentacle pieces to fight over. Frankly, if I lived anywhere near the North End, you can bet I'd be lunching here on a daily basis. The dishes we ordered were delicious and I appreciated the no-frills atmosphere. Just remember to bring cash (and lots of it if you plan to experience the Lobster Fra Diavolo at about $75 for 2). The restaurant is a teeny, tiny shoebox that seats no more than 20 people at any given time, so plan smart - don't take your whole entourage here, just a BFF or two. Enjoy! read more

Be sure to bring cash to this location! Pro tip: Come by during the off hours to avoid waiting in line for 1 or more hours. We only waited about 20 or so minutes at 2 pm to snag a table. The place is quaint--with about 10 tables. What to get: Fried calamari--crispy and well seasoned What to avoid: Calamari meatballs Toss-up: Squid ink pasta It's a hole in a wall so it blends in well on the street but you can spot it by the line outside (It's located across the street from Mike's Pastry). read more

The fiancé and I came by for an early dinner around 5:30 and were seated promptly - no wait. It's not a fancy place by any means: paper placemats, plastic water cups, and barely any seating. Nevertheless, we loved this small restaurant and the great service, but mostly the food! I had the squid ink pasta puttanesca with shrimp, and he had the swordfish with linguini. Both were fantastic, though a bit overpriced. Would definitely come again! read more
After my first impression, the largest downside to this place is that it is cash only. This sucks especially because their dishes are still fairly expensive. On average you better have $40 in cash to cover the food and tip plus any drinks you decide to get. The place is also very small but I think that adds to the charm and family-owned feel of the restaurant. They're very Italian here and might even yell at you to wait outside if all of the tables are full. Take it as part of the experience and enjoy the Boston cold :). My recommendation after only an initial visit is to order the monkfish marsala. The fish was very fresh and the sauce not too heavy like I've found many Italian dishes can be. It also comes with your choice of salad or pasta. I got the pasta and it was a generous portion for a side plus it was cooked to perfection of course. read more

I was visiting the area for a few days. I was staying in Brookline and wanted to go here for dinner, however I was super bummed bc it was over an hour wait so had to go somewhere else. However, I still had one day left in Boston and when I made it to the North End, I was very adamant about eating here for lunch. So lucky I did! It's an extremely tiny place and cash only. Was lucky to get seated right away. Ordered the small app of calamari, and appetizer size black ink pasta aglio olio. It was cool to see them cook and prepare the meal! Food was fantastic and very fresh. Great service also. I would like to come back and try other things on their menu! Well done! read more

A great, reasonably priced place for the best squid ink pasta! Came in on a Wednesday night around 6:30 and the place was already full. We got sat in the tiny corner table for 2, so it wasn't the most comfortable dinner but what can I say, the place is pretty small as is many restos in the North End. I had the appetizer portion of the Aglio Olio: squid ink pasta with shredded squid and my friend had the Calamari Linguine with red sauce. Both were delicious, had perfectly cooked pasta and just the right amount of sauce to coat the pasta! The squid ink pasta is definitely my go to every time I come here, although I find the amount of squid to vary each time I come. Last night was no disappointment though, there was squid in every bite! My favorite part of this place is that they serve the pasta in the pan it's cooked in! Call me odd, but I like the rustic-ness of it :) Also, they serve good wine in plastic cups filled to the rim. If you're questioning this place don't. It's delicious Italian and what you would hope to eat in the North End without the "white table cloth" pressure! read more

Amazing food! We ordered the black paste and seafood combo. Both were delicious. The restaurant is quite cozy and small. We went early evening and was able to get a seat before it got busy and there was a line forming out the door The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Would definitely go back again when I'm in north end area. read more

Made it back here after almost four years! I don't forget a great meal and this had to be on my list during my quick trip to Boston. Just as great a I remembered it! It was cold and rainy last night so I got a table right away. This place is really small so I essentially ate alongside another twosome. All good. Not much different then a lot of NYC dining. I ordered the same thing as last time. The black pasta al olio. It is a homemade pasta with ground squid, garlic and oil served ina BIG pan. Huge portion (you can order half) but I ate the whole thing. You don't get to eat food like this too often so I took full advantage. As good as I remembered! And it is directly across the street from Mike's Pastries. A killer combo. The service was great. The atmosphere is great. It is tough to get better cooking! Hopefully I will get back here before another four years pass by! read more
I've been here two times. First time was good, second time was just....pretty bad lol. Well we arrived on time when it opened (according to Yelp), but when we got there, they said they weren't open for another half hour. Hmmm okay. So we waited, and then finally my party of 7 got seated. We're the type to eat family style, and of course pasta can be a filling dish, so we ordered two appetizers to share and 3 pasta dishes, one that was suppose to feed 2 people (however I had this dish before and it can honestly feed 3-4, and that's my own personal experience/opinion, which was why we didn't order more). It's a small place, so the host and server were the same person. He said we weren't ordering enough food, then later came back and said we would leave hungry. Mind you, we were satisfyingly full. I think it's extremely rude to tell someone that they didn't order enough food. People go out to eat sometimes just for something light, regardless, we knew how much we were ordering and we did not leave hungry. This totally ruined our experience, considering we spent $250 for a meal that could've been so much better. Yeah this place may be known for that seafood pasta dish, but I can live without it, and so can the other family and friends that come to visit me in Boston. I won't be coming back or introducing it to anyone else. Even my dad left not feeling satisfied, and he loves anything with seafood. Yikes. read more
The Daily Catch has some of the best seafood that I have ever had. I went with some friends this past Sunday. They are supposed to open at 11, but didn't until noon. We got in line at 11:45 and were the first people in, but be warned that there was a quickly forming long line behind us. You are going to get an authentic North End experience at The Daily Catch. There is one server in this very small restaurant and she is a tiny Italian lady with a big personality. She was very helpful in making menu suggestions. I had the calamari platter and would highly recommend. The fried calamari was cooked to perfection. The cold calamari salad was very different but so flavorful. The calamari meatball was also quite tasty. I sampled everyone else's dishes as well. The scallops, black puttanesca and mussels were all amazing. This place is not to be missed! read more

Three words: Boston knows seafood. I've seen this demonstrated in seafood restaurants throughout Bean Town, but after dining at the Daily Catch it must be said again! We ordered the equally delicious Mussels Marinara & Aglio Olio. Both dishes came out on skillets, giving the meal a very rustic, fishing village feel. Waitress was super friendly, food was scrumptious. What more could you ask for? read more

I tried this place with some friends one Sunday afternoon with much anticipation because this place is so highly-recommended and we were all craving seafood. I went with a group of 5, but we ended up splitting into 2&3 to be seated more quickly. The restaurant itself really is a hole in the wall with only 6-7 tables total. It was bad enough having to wait in line outside in the rain, but having to watch the seated patrons eating through the glass while you wait is particularly torturous in itself if you're famished and already salivating. Thankfully, Mike's Pastries is right across the street, so if you want something to munch on during the long wait, it's readily available. Going in, I already knew that squid ink pasta was a must-try, so I split a puttanesca squid ink pasta and an order of fried calamari with a friend. The calamari was decent, and the squid ink pasta itself was quite nice. The puttanesca dish as a whole, however, left much to be desired. I expected the four scallops we got to be plump and juicy, but they were dinky and unimpressive. The pasta itself was also drowning in a pool of salty oil. With so many great seafood options in Boston, I'd steer away from The Daily Catch and dine elsewhere. read more
We got the shrimp linguini with white wine sauce and clams casino (stuffed clams) Food/price || Shrimp linguini with white wine sauce is AMAZING. Highly recommend. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the shrimp was delicious. The main 5 star for me though was the sauce. It had the perfect white wine sauce consistency - not too runny, and not too thick. Given there was probably tons of butter but it was so worth it. $25 for an order of the pasta (cash only) and they serve it right in the pan that it was cooked in. The clams were out of this world. Usually stuffed clams are filed with bread crumbs and chopped up clam. But this had the entire clam intact. They were super plump and fresh. The stuffing was super tasty as well. Very zesty and crunchy on the outside. Each order came with 5 clams and was $10. We were given the option to add another clam for $2. Definitely worth a try. Location || Little restaurant with a very homey vibe. One waitress and tables are typically shared especially if you are only a table of two. We had a nice conversation with the couple who sat next to us. I was told that other daily catch locations did not taste as good. read more

The Daily Catch was absolutely amazing. We arrived around 3:30pm and had to wait for around 30-40 minutes. We were slightly unlucky due to 2 reasons: - Their website allows "reserving" option, however when we arrived, we were informed that no reservations can be made for the restaurant. - There were a few large parties before us and made us wait a little longer. However, people after us only waited for around 10-15 minutes! My girlfriend and I shared the Lobster Fra Diavolo (for two) and we LOVED IT! We substituted for the squid ink spaghetti and it was amazing. The portion was definitely enough for two (if not too much). We ended up being very full and didn't have a chance to try the signature black pasta. The Daily Catch was our first meal in Boston, and was the perfect way to start our trip. read more

We were a group of 7 and went at 3pm and were the only people there which was great. Service was great per usual. I brought my family who was in town and this was our go to place. We had the shrimp linguine with scampi sauce, scallops linguine with scampi sauce, black pasta with agoli, black pasta with Alfredo and shrimp, and the owner recommended the monkfish Marsala with a side of linguine which she loved. Always recommend this place. read more

Since we moved here last August, quite a few people recommended this restaurant so naturally, my husband and I waited in line for 45 minutes to eat at this establishment. The line is extremely deceiving! It seems like it'll move fast since there are only a few parties in front of you, but it takes a long time for anyone to get seated since the restaurant is so small. The food was good, but nothing amazing. Unlike some other reviewers, we had no issues with the service. Our server was very friendly and answered all our questions. Overall, It's a restaurant I'd take visitors, but I personally wouldn't frequent. read more

The food is okay. - The fried calamari was below average. - The squid ink pasta was good, but we have had better. - The lobster fra diavolo was disappointing. The lobster was over cooked. The mussels were not good. The only highlight was the linguine. The host was very busy so she was kinda rude, which was understood. What was outrageous was that we had three people, but they charged us 18% tips. This is against common practice in my opinion, especially with the kind of service they offered. read more

AMAZING!! Lines are usually long so get there early or be prepared to wait. Seating is very limited. Trust me you won't be disappointed. We ordered Lobster fr diavolo. Super fresh killed the lobster right there. Pasta cooked perfectly. Full of seafood mussels,clams,& calamari. I look forwarded Rhiannon place every time I plan a trip to Boston. read more
A couple of people told me that the best Italian restaurant in Boston is called "Daily Catch". So here I am just experienced the very satisfying pasta dishes at Daily Catch. It was worth coming all the way from Northern Virginia. Although they seem to hold salt a lot but over all, the taste and the way they cook are really really good. I especially like the Black Pasta Aglio Oglio. What a unique dish! The Vongole spaghetti was full of fresh clams with clam meat in one piece instead of torn apart, and tasted pretty good. The pasta was al dente without having to ask for that. read more
There's a lesson to be learned here: Don't judge a restaurant by its' size. The Daily Catch is tiny. So tiny that you're practically eating in the kitchen. Although you're eating in close quarters and are probably sharing the table with strangers, there is something in the air that makes you feel at ease. Perhaps it's the aroma of the food or the mom and pop feel to it. The menu is written in chalk on the wall and they have a wide variety of seafood dishes. I've recently discovered how delicious squid ink is so we went with the Black Ink Alfredo. Who knew squid ink would taste so good? It's kinda weird to think about eating it... If I didn't know any better, I would think it's poisonous or something. The Clams Casino was another dish our server recommended and we scoped it out from the party sitting next to us. It looked good so we ordered it, and it didn't disappoint. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. You can tell that the seafood was fresh and the right effort was put forward into our food. It's a great restaurant to experience seafood in Boston if you've got a small party. Get the Black Pasta, it's their specialty! read more
You can always expect a lengthy line of hungry patrons waiting to dine here so plan accordingly and be prepared to wait. The restaurant is extremely small, seating a maximum of only 20 people. The layout of the restaurant is an open kitchen, making it seem more spacious than it actually is. Be sure to stop by the bank since this place is CASH ONLY! SCALLOP LINGUINE -- Unfortunately, the linguine in this dish wasn't cooked until al dente. I felt like this spoiled the dish for me. The white sauce had a very simple flavor that didn't dress the pasta well. Also, the pasta sauce was filled with oily emulsion droplets which made it unpleasant to eat. On the brighter note, the scallops were good. It was fresh and had a mildly sweet taste to it. LOBSTER FRA DIAVOLO for two -- For a hefty $75, you get yourself a whole pan full of pasta loaded with seafood. This includes lobsters, little necks, mussels, shrimp, and calamari. Live lobsters were literally cut into pieces right in front of us prior to cooking. Afterwards, all the seafood is simmered in a rich and spicy seafood tomato sauce served over linguine. The sauce was a tad too spicy for me and I felt that it masked the delicate flavors of the seafood. However, my companions all enjoyed this dish very much. AGLIO OLIO -- The one dish that everyone raves about after dining here and it definitely lives up to its hype. It's essentially fresh homemade squid ink linguine tossed with olive oil, ground squid, and sauteed garlic. The aroma of this dish is indescribable. My mouth was salivating the moment I caught a whiff of the smell as our waiter placed our dish on the table. Nothing screams orgasmic like the first bite of this pasta...every bite was so divine. The ground squid made it even more amazingly delicious by adding on to the depth of flavors. It was truly love at first bite. MUST GET!!! The service is spotty but keep in mind that there is only one waiter, one busboy, and one chef servicing the whole restaurant. Besides, the food makes up for it. Came here on a Monday evening. The wait wasn't very long, we only waited about 15-20 minutes before being seated. Due to the small size of the restaurant (only 6 or so tables), my boyfriend and I shared a table with a lady eating by herself. This wasn't really an issue - instead, it added to the cozy atmosphere. I got the clams linguine with the white sauce and my boyfriend got the squid ink puttanesca. We also got fried calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was perfectly done. Not rubbery at all. The spicy sauce they have on the table (not sure what it was but it was red and thin) went really well with the calamari. Marinara sauce cost $1 extra but the dish didn't need it. The entrees we got were incredible. My clams linguine was so flavored and garlicky. The pasta tasted fresh and al dente and there were enough clams in the dish. The portions were large enough that I was not able to finish the entire pan (the entrees all come in the pan it was cooked in). I tried the puttanesca as well and it was just as delectable. This place only seats twenty people at a time, so the wait is always super long because of how popular it is but IT IS SO WORTH THE WAIT!! I think the wait is part of the experience of dining here and even though it was an hour wait, it really wasn't too long. The fried calamari is as fresh as it gets and it was incredibly tender. My friends and I couldn't get enough. I ordered the squid ink pasta, aglio olio styled. This dish was so delicious because good quality ingredients were used. Is the Hanover location taking reservations?
I know that it was recently. I don't know if they changed it now that Gov. Baker lifted some more of the restrictions.
Are they a BYOB?
No. BYOB is illegal in downtown Boston. There are only 3 legal BYOBs within Boston city limits, all in outlying neighborhoods.
Can do take-out order?
Yes! I have witnessed people doing take-outs and home deliveries.
What's the best time to go to avoid a long line?
Probably during the week in between lunch and dinner ~3pm. It's easier if you go alone or with one other person as they fill their tables, even if you don't know the other people sitting with you.
If I pay $75 for your Lobster dish will you respect me in the morning or will you just call me a tourist and be done with me?
