Definitely overrated as a restaurant. I can't say how they fare as a bar since we got our order to go. The food is extremely overpriced!!! Their pizza is smaller than one slice from Capo's or Goodfellas and at $13 is a total ripoff. The serving of greens that they call a salad tasted like bitter weeds and was inedible. We also got their queso with brisket....I don't know what we got, but it definitely WASN'T queso. It had the consistency of cottage cheese and never melted (we tried both a pan and microwave). The Wagyu Beef guisada cheese steak sandwich had less meat than any carne guisada taco elsewhere in town. It was also way overpriced at $13. This was by far the most overrated, overpriced establishment I've been to as long as I can remember. I can't recommend to anyone. I guess if they have cheap alcohol and you've overindulged, then they might have some appeal. No thanks! Needless to say we won't be giving them a second chance. read more

Great unique food. Has been a while since I've had a fruit pie and they have a very different version but it is very good.

I was told that the Pork Queso was one of San Antonio's best dishes in the Express News and it didn't disappoint! I think there is cream cheese in there, but this stuff is seriously addicting. I also tried SA Cubana and Beefy Beefy sandwich which were both delicious. The accompanied salad is light with a balsamic glaze,I believe, which is a nice touch. read more

I came here because I'd heard they'd brought in Chef Blake Smithson to jazz up the menu. So I get there, and no sooner than I see Chef Blake than he suggests we try the queso -- which had been on the menu before he got there! Well, okay, if you say so... oh my. So, so right. It's made of cream cheese and ground sausage and lots of fun stuff, served on the miniature cookie tray on which it was baked, and to scoop it up? Pork rinds. Why haven't I been using chicharrones to eat queso forever? It's perfect! Cold beer, a fun atmosphere -- while we were there, they hosted a low-key (read: not annoying) birthday party, and about two dozen bicyclists who were clearly making this a regular stop on their circuit. My husband and I love hanging out here. We live about 30 minutes away but it's worth the drive. The food is delicious (and REAL), the beer is always cold and crisp, and the service is outstanding. Great neighborhood bar, it's like the Cheers of the East side. Kent (the owner) is the perfect bartender: friendly, good conversation, but not overbearing. And the food, oh my God! Highly recommend the Beefy Beefy and Italian (excellent sandwiches), the queso is super tasty, and the Brisket Tacos are my new drug. I want to blend them up and start an IV. Sweet jesus that is the best brisket I have ever had! It was served to me in a Reuben, which was delicious, but you could have it on a piece of stale, moldy bread and it would still shine. Just went to the Dakota for happy hour. Food was delicious. We had the Alamo Smoke bbq pizza, the Alt Cuban sandwich and the pork loin sandwich. They were presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. I will be back to try the other sandwiches & pizzas that I was too full to try! I am a wine drinker and you could purchase wine by the bottle at very reasonable prices. The bowling alley bar was amazing! The music mix included all sorts of genres including traditional Mexican music and rock oldies. This place has something for everyone. WOW! really great food! We went to Carver for a play and wanted to try local food close. This place didn't disappoint. The owner greeted us and was more than welcoming! We ordered the queso and the brisket tacos. The queso was the best cheese dip I've ever had and the brisket taco was on naan, so yummy! We will for sure be back with friends!
