We had a great lunch here today after church. Sad to say the train is no longer operational. We've eaten here for years and love the long history this place has in Rancho. They have great daily specials and now that my daughter is working here a few days a week, we will be coming here more often. My friend and I both got the Ranchero Cobb which was amazing and my friends husband got the Burger Special for $9. What a steal!! A small mom and pop institution (25 years+) where it staffed by all women. It is old style ambience with running model train and barrels that have different condiments. The service is quick and efficient. The sandwiches are delicious, especially with their jalapeño relish. If you like little spicy the jalapeño relish is worth trying. Service was great & so was the speed of our food- even for a busy evening. We tried this place the previous day (tuna & a cheese steak). We had to come back for seconds & thirds! Our favorite item was the chipotle cheesesteak. I got the chipotle sauce on the side just incase it was too spicy- but it wasn't. This menu item was a quick favorite of ours & we ordered one to take home for our next day lunch. The turkey avocado sandwich was delicious and had a light flavor. Our least favorite item was the Parmesan garlic so next time I'll just get a side of plain fries. Too much Parmesan and not enough garlic. If I could give this place zero stars I would!! My husband and I came here on our lunch break. We ordered at the window outside. The hubby ordered a rueben and parmesan garlic fries. I ordered a beef dip and we both got unsweetened iced teas. In my opinion, too expensive. $42, plus a $6 tip. (Which I wish he hadn't given after the service we received.) I was looking forward to eating here at the patio area since it was a nice day. There's several benches with seating. A cute little set up. Unfortunately that didn't happen because of our terrible experience. We sat down and waited for our food that NEVER came out. The 2 gentlemen that ordered ahead of us received their sandwiches before us so I decided to ask if ours were almost ready. Upon asking the girl at the window she looked around and couldn't find our food. She apologized and said our ticket must have been lost!! So disappointed! So I ended up asking for our food to go since it took longer than we had anticipated, which was disappointing since I was looking forward to enjoying my lunch outside. (Even the 2 gentleman who received their food before us commented that we should receive our food for free because of the wait) As we continued to wait we saw people coming and going, which I'm not going to lie made me angry since I feel they should have put a rush on our order since they messed up. I finally had to get up and ask for our food yet again! After finally receiving our food and leaving I checked the bag to make sure all of food was there, I couldn't believe how they just threw everything together! The au jus wasn't closed properly and leaked so much that it wet the paper bag, made a hole and left a puddle of juice in the plastic bag! I did not enjoy my sandwich at all. The meat tasted old as soon as I bit into it. The fries were overly done and dry. Not to mention I didn't taste garlic whatsoever and the husband's rueben was sloppy with the meat thrown in. I did take out so I can't speak to the full experience. The service was nice, pleasant and otherwise no issues. Pricing was decent and portions were sizable. I got three different types of sandwiches and a hot dog, along with some fries and onion rings. Definitely filling and they give you a lot but the taste was very middle of the road. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some Fire sandwiches! We came here after a long day of moving to the area and we were not disappointed by any means! The sandwiches are massive in size just be warned lol. They have great taste and definitely leave you full for a while. We got the smoked turkey avocado and added lettuce and then a grilled Cajun chicken sandwiches with some modifications. Hands down my favorite spot to go to now that we live out here. The staff were extremely friendly when we walked in and took our order very quickly. I always pass by and finally decided to stop into The Deli. It's a quaint little historic place. The food was prepared quickly with high quality ingredients. My grandson loved the grilled cheese kids meal! I split the fried zucchini and chipotle cheesesteak sandwich with my husband. The sandwich was really good. The zucchini was good too but I quickly realized with the hardiness of the sandwich I didn't need a side. I ended up taking most of the zucchini home. Was craving a deli sandwich and this spot came up on yelp. Decided to give the tuna sandwich a shot since everyone was saying it is a favorite must try. I ordered the tuna sandwich on sourdough bread and got side pickles and chilis. The sandwich itself was alright. I felt like it lacked a bit of seasoning. It was still good but it wasn't a "must try" in my books. They had a counter of pickles , chilis, and chopped yellow peppers for you to self serve.
