Came here for an early dinner during happy hour (before 5pm) and had a great experience! During happy hour they have a set menu which comes with your selection of certain cuts of meat, along with vegetables and either rice/noodles. I opted to get the flat iron beef with pork broth which was delicious. The happy hour set is a great value IMO - portion sizes were great and left us feeling full without being overly stuffed. You also get access to the sauce/buffet bar as well as ice cream at the end of the meal. As the Dolar Shop is what I consider to be a more upscale hot pot place, you can usually expect the food, service, and ambiance to be great here. It does get busy here (especially on weekends), so be prepared to wait even if you come during off hours. We had a short wait even coming at 4:30pm on a weekday.
Yes, I am very late to the upscale hot pot party at The Dolar Shop. This popular spot is located at The Bravern and has been open since 10/18/18. I've had this bookmarked foreverrrrr, but finally had the opportunity to indulge for a leisurely lunch with family earlier today (6/6/26). Thankfully, the other three in our party had hot pot experience. I've only had shabu-shabu and malatang, once each time, today was my first hot pot culinary introduction. A family member had made reservations awhile back and this is strongly recommended as the check-in/reception area was packed by 1115 am. We were brought downstairs to our booth. Chilled lemon water was provided as each of us pondered our choices for our customized hot pots. After placing our orders via tablet, there were some snack items to peruse like chips, peanuts, edamame, and fresh fruit. Dipping sauces were prepped by our kind waitperson. There are also additional ones at the sauce bar to select from to further customize with your meal. I really liked the cucumber and Napa cabbage kimchee/kimchi as my accompaniment. Shortly thereafter our broths (tomato, spicy, creamy pork) were brought out, hot plates turned on. Platters of assorted vegies and greens, mushrooms, shrimp, quail eggs, lotus root, Spam slices, and tofu sheets, as well as, bowls of noodles and steamed rice were placed on our table. Nicely plated selected sliced meats were then brought out. We had selected wagyu beef, two sets of boneless beef short ribs, and lamb flap. As a newbie, I was overcooking my proteins, but eventually got the hang of it. This was my first meal of the day, so the portions brought out were generous and filling. The broths and water glasses were periodically refilled and waitstaff checking on us too. Likewise, one could have additional servings of noodles and rice. At the end, we were each provided with soft serve cones to cool and cleanse our palates. There is a time limit in order to turn the table over to be cleared for the next reservation. Also, make sure if parked in the underground lot, to bring your ticket along and have it validated at the check-in/reception stand. I'm glad I did this since our meal here and coffee/dessert at an adjacent site at The Bravern was four hours and saved myself from paying $18 - $21! An enjoyable, celebratory meal shared with family at The Dolar Shop!
If you ever want to treat yourself to high quality hot pot -- this place is for you. The Dolar Shop has very high quality meat, seafood, noodles, and veggies. The meat is very tender and and they have a more premium selection. There is not as big of a selection for meat, veggies, and other items as other hot pot places but the quality is what makes it stand out. I like having the individual hot pots as you get to pick which broth you like and it's way easier trying to find the items that you put in. Best free ice cream at a hot pot restaurant. Perfectly creamy and didn't have that weird icey texture nor the weird not really vanilla taste that some other hot pot places have. Staff is wonderful. They are very kind and attentive.
My first experience with Chinese hot pot and the whole experience was solid. It is similar to other hot pot places but a little more upscale. You order everything à la cart. Quality of meats (beef, seafood, and chicken) and veggies are good with items you don't get at other places like beef artery, which is good. End of the meal they have a dessert bar and a solid soft serve ice cream cone Service is excellent. Very attentive staff.
Amazing place for some delicious personal pot hot pot!! Came here on a Friday night with some friends and was able to make a reservation easily online. The sauce bar is unlimited with some boiled peanuts, jellies, fruits, sauces, etc for you to build your own dipping sauces as well as snacks. Our server was amazing and incredibly accommodating with recommending healthy options for those of us with food restrictions! You're able to order whatever you want on the ipad and the uncooked items are family style whereas you can choose what broth you want for your own personal pot! My friends and I went here for celebrating my birthday! I was a little overwhelmed with the menu first because there were so many options. I had the combination of pork bone broth and tomato broth, and they were both great. We ordered like two sets of veggies and several kinds of beef cuts to add to the broth. Food tasted great and everything was fresh. One of my friends was running late, but I appreciated how the waiter was very accommodating and let the two of us who arrived first sit at a table while we waited for our other friend to arrive. Service was quick and professional, and it was really pleasant to be at the restaurant. I would love to return if I have another chance.
Best hotpot in the area, definitely likely. Best value hotpot, definitely not. The Dolar Shop is not a cheap option but offers one of the more premium selections available. Easy parking which they validate, a nice mall to digest afterwards, and plenty of dessert and boba around. Plus a convenient location with the new 2 line link. Reserve through Yelp if possible because it's easy and convenient, they'll usually seat parties within 15 minutes of reservation time. Cozy inside, decent space between tables, and there's even a downstairs. Service is always wonderful, even though we had four servers during our visit as they rotated, we had an excellent experience with tons of attention. They forgot our enoki mushrooms but one quick wave down fixed it without hassle, so appreciate that. Paid about $100 per person each time, but we go a bit hard, could get away with $50-60 per person plus their tasty sauce and food bar. They don't explain the happy hour that well, but during happy hour they have set menus that include sauce bar and unlimited rice or noodles. Unfortunately, we didn't see it until after ordering so paid a bit extra. Pork bone broth is pretty average, a safe choice but nothing special over here. However, their tomato broth is one of the richest around, rich and umami. Luckily everyone gets their own pot which is essentially a cost per person, before ordering menu items. All the beef is so tasty, tender, and perfectly fatty. Great seafood (especially the shrimp paste / shrimp pate).
High prices but service that matches. Our servers explained the menu, made sauces for us at the table, and were attentive and friendly. The place is big and good for both casual and special occasion meals. Parking at the Bravern is validated. I got the lamb set menu, which with the happy hour prices, was reasonable. The portion size was filling too. The meat was fresh, and the veggie platter had good variety. The creamy broth and spicy broth I chose were tasty. The sauce and side bar was a bit lacking compared to other places but I don't really utilize these anyways. The part that's unique is that they have a jelly bar, but I was too full to try it
I had a bit of a mixed experience at The Dolar Shop. First off, the service and staff were excellent. They were incredibly attentive, professional, and made the entire dining experience smooth and welcoming. If I were rating based on hospitality alone, it would be a 5-star review without question. Regarding the food, it was good, but honestly, it felt like any other high-end hot pot spot. While the ingredients were fresh, I didn't find a "wow" factor that sets it apart from other competitors in the same price range. It's solid, reliable hot pot, but not necessarily groundbreaking.
It's been 5 years since I've been to the Dolar Shop and I won't wait that long again! Great service, high quality meat and veg paired with a personalized hot pot experience. What's not to like? They have great sets available during lunch where you can pick the type of meat (different types of beef, chicken, pork) and the type of soup base (pork, mushroom, spicy, etc.) The set also includes a nice platter of veggies + shrimp balls, imitation crab meat and spam. And don't forget the sauce bar, with random things like wonton chips, cantaloupe and M&Ms as well. They've also added a boba and jelly bar, likely to compete with the Hey Tea outlet next door. Service is attentive and efficient, offering to refill broth 3-4 times during dinner. And of course, remembering to offer ice cream at the end of our meal. I can't wait to bring my family back now that my kids are older.
Parking is part of the bravern - there's a machine at the front to validate for 6 hours. You shouldn't need 6 hours, but yeah. It's at the front, near the entrance. Sauce bar is dope, but they've cut back on snacks / desserts. The ordering is done on a tablet (I've only ever been here with a big group - like 10-14 people usually with a reservation). I did come here once with my wife, just the two of us, for dinner on a Friday night (no reservation). Highly recommend joining the waitlist well before you come here - the line was 36 line when I joined, and 42 long when I arrived. We did get seated after around 25 min, so it moves fast. I joined the waitlist via Yelp before we left (it was a 20 min drive), and the line did move before we got to the proverbial front, but it would have been very deflating if I joined the line "when I got here", so I'm glad Yelp is an option to join the line via the app, beforehand. For two people we ordered a decent clip of food, it came out to $200 after tax and "surcharge" (if you pay by debit or cash the 3% surcharge is removed). Some dishes are outrageously expensive (one of the beef platters was $37 on its own!), but at least there's some options for "multi person sets" (2, etc). There's a weird track like "untz untz untz" (dance club vibe?) - no lyrics, but it's very faint (not too loud). If you're sitting near the front, it's a bit cold if you're in the pathway towards the door. Service is sometimes slow and spotty - mostly because they have staff assigned to certain areas, and as those areas get saturated, some tables get inevitably neglected. For instance: despite the massive 40+ waitlist (you'd figure the priority is clearing tables and turning them over), it took us over 15 min to get and pay for the bill. Overall it's decent quality but it's quite expensive nowadays, and the portions have gotten noticeably smaller than when we used to come here previously.
Food: 4.5/5 The quality of the meats, seafood, and veggies are all amazing. They have a wide selection for you to DIY sauce bar and a small dessert bar! Soups are wonderful, I especially like the creamy pork one. It's delicious and smooth. The ice cream cones at the end is a highlight! Only nit picky thing I'll note is that they don't have a large selection of veggies or seafood compared to other hotpot restaurants. Service: 5/5 Great service, server was very polite, nice, and made sure our soups were refilled in a timely manner. Ambiance: 5/5 They have seating on the ground level and downstairs. The ground level has windows, lots of artwork and lights, and has an open concept style. The downstairs seating area is walled off, separating dining spaces from each other (they have private large seating rooms too!). Overall: 5/5 Just a tip, I don't know if they always had this but I noticed they add a surcharge for credit card payments, if that bothers you bring cash or use a debit card :)
TL;DR: a great "date night" and/or "splurge" place. Menu items are on the pricier side of things here. Hot pots are personal single serve and not communal "middle of the table" hot pots. They prefer cash -- 3% surcharge if you pay with card. How it works: you will be seated, presented a tablet menu, choose a personal broth, pick hot pot ingredients, house made sauce made before your eyes, make your own sauce at the self serve sauce/salad bar, you will be told how long to cook things, eat. Parking: garage parking, free parking validation (insert your ticket in the device at the front desk). Atmosphere: very casual but has a classy feel. The table settings are rather fancy and eye-catching. I like now the plates are triangles/squares to fit the table. Service: wait to be seated, order at your table on a tablet, food brought to you, signature sauce will be made for you by your waiter but you still have the option to visit the sauce bar to mix your own dipping sauce. Water yourself with provided pitcher. Check brought to you. Menu: on a tablet. Your wait staff will walk you through the ordering process. Some of the functions of the buttons you tap aren't really intuitive but if you tap around you eventually figure it out. The UI isn't really friendly in my opinion. Meat/Protein opinions are plentiful. Lots of cuts and types. Unless you are extremely sensitive and/or picky. It doesn't really matter what kind of cut you get because they are all tasty and tender. At least for me -- for example, one cut type of beef was just as enjoyable as the other type of cut that was double the price. Veggie options are really lacking. I wish there were more leafy green options but the only thing available was lettuce. I was surprised because I expected Bok Choy to at least be an option here, especially considering this place's price point and the fact that hot pot is served here. Self Serve Sauce/Salad Bar: not as extensive as Haidilao but sufficient enough to make your own sauce. There is a small salad bar off to the side containing edamame, kimchi, and cut fruit. The salad bar items are just "so-so" in my opinion, though the kim chi does taste very fresh and isn't that spicy despite its extremely red appearance. Recommended Ingredients: things that I personally like: - Lotus Roots: potato-like texture/taste but slightly crunchy - Bean Curd / Tofu Skin: slighly chewy thin cut tofu - Meat: can't go wrong with any meat here Wagyu Pancakes: thought I'd give them a try. They are tasty but I think it's just better off eating wagyu straight from the hot pot. read more

I am self-admittedly not a hotpot enthusiast but my friends invited me for lunch - and I had nothing going on at the time (and I was hungry) so why not? I would be remiss to not mention the exquisite ambiance and design of the restaurant itself. Everything feels very premium - the seating and spaces are unique and the seafood is freshly prepared and made to order. The vibe here is great. The service was also amazing too! I can't recall every looking up for help and not seeing a member of the wait staff not there. They were on top of everything and ensured we had whatever we needed. The food itself was also tasty. There is a side bar where you mix together your own sauce in addition to grabbing side dishes - kimchi, edamame, cherries, etc. My friends ordered the lunch special for me with tomato and spicy mala broth. Both were good but I found myself liking the tomato broth more. Worth coming if you're able to get a reservation and are in the area. they prefer cash (3% cc fee which can be waived if you take their survey). read more

always love dolar shop :) genuinely think their soups are the cleanest, decadent yet light, flavorful, and comforting ones you can get at a hot pot restaurant. although pricey, everything is extremely good quality! you honestly don't even have to get the fancy cuts of meat, i really like their flat iron (the cheapest) which is still juicy and not dry at all. i recommend their tomato soup and pork broth (spicy is super good too), any of their meats, shrimp paste, and crispy wagyu pancake ^_^ read more

The food and ambience here is amazing. However if you have young kids, I would never bring them here. They have a kids meal but they clearly do not prioritize making it. It took them over 45 mins to get the kids meal for my child despite 3 repeated reminders. It was very distressing as a parent to go through this. I will not come back here. read more
Upgrading my review to 3 stars because I had a better experience this time around. The last time I was here was 5 years ago hahaha I think food is still pricey but service is better and food is fine. I do like that they have a lot of promotions going on which help. Out of all of the hotpot I've tried, this place has the best broths I've tasted. Its rich and tasteful. Menu is full of quality. It's quite expensive, but it makes sense with its good customer service, atmosphere, and quality. It establishes itself well as a higher level restaurant. The most amazing experience I have ever had at the hotpot. Very professional staff and caring as well. I put a note in my booking via Yelp that I am gluten free. Someone called me to check if I am allergic or just a preference. I told her I am allergic. So she called me back with the information about the broth. Kept apologising for not being able to give me more than water to start my hotpot. When I arrived the host walked us to our table and told our beautiful waiter Husna (I think I just butchered her name so sorry) that I am gluten free with allergies. Husna went above and beyond to take care of me and to make sure I got enough topping for my hotpot. She went through the menu showing me what I should avoid and what I can have. The food was amazing and so delicious. I truly enjoyed every bite I took. I went back the next night with my daughter, husband and my friends. The restaurant is super super beautiful and classy so yes dress up nice. Definitely will be back soon :-) Thank you again for amazing everything. read more
They have a lunch promo running right now, free apps/fruits, sauce bar, and unlimited steam rice/noodle along with a set menu for around 30~40 bucks. The portion is great, we left with a full plate of meat left. They had some kimchi, edamame, and peanuts at the appetizer bar, and I think oranges for fruits. At the end, free ice cream for everyone~ Parking is easy and validated for 6 hours via a self-serve machine at the front desk. It's closest to the blue and red parking zone. Service is great, but be aware of their reservation system. We still waited behind everyone before us even if they were walk-ins. read more

The line gets really long so make sure you make a reservation or join the waitlist before arriving! The other major high end hot pot place in Bellevue downtown is Haidilao, and I'd say this place is pretty comparable to it. There's some parts where Haidilao does better and some parts where Dolar Shop does better. AMBIANCE - 5/5 It's a very spacious 2-story restaurant with modern interior design. Right when you step in, you are greeted by the amazing aroma of the hot pot along with a mini snack bar in the waiting area. I also love the open kitchen concept where you can see them slice the meats. CREAMY PORK BROTH - 5/5 Their pork broth is very flavorful. The big difference is the hot pot at Haidilao is group while Dolar Shop is personal, so the total for soup base is cheaper at Dolar Shop for small 1-2 person groups but is more expensive for larger groups. I also found Haidilao's pork bone broth equivalent to be slightly more flavorful, but they are both very good. MEAT - 5/5 I got the hand cut gold beef which had nice marbling and was very delicious. The selections aren't cheap, but the quality is very good. SAUCE BAR - 5/5 They offered to make their signature sauce. The sauce bar especially with the homemade sesame sauce was also very good and flavorful. SNACKS BAR - 3/5 I found their snacks bar to be lacking compared to other high end Chinese hot pot places. I like that they provide fresh fruits and very good soft serve at the end, but the snack bar doesn't have many choices at all. read more
I'm a hot pot connoisseur so I was super excited to try this place while we were in Seattle. Since we had a large group, they gave us a private room downstairs which we appreciated. Everyone had their own individual pots and you can even choose 2 different broths! The meats, veggies, and carbs are ordered a la carte. There's a section outside where you can get your own desserts, fruits, and sauces. This place reminds me of haidilao. Perfect for a cold, windy night!! We spent about $80 pp after tax and tip which is honestly not bad because we definitely over ordered and were all super full! read more

The soup base was flavorful, meats were the perfect cut, the shrimp pate was worth it, & the service was impeccable. At the end, they give you free ice cream! Totally worth the high price. The Dolar Shop Seattle is a high end Chinese Hot Pot restaurant, where groups (big or small) get to cook/warm up their food (protein and vegetables) in separate bowls of heated broth, suited to their own individual tastes. It is mostly a la carte, with prices that bring the meal to the higher end cost of hot pot/shabu shabu places. But we found it to be worth it. My daughter was celebrating a milestone birthday, and wanted to treat her family out to a fun dinner, eating food that she thought we would enjoy. We were a party of eight, and had a reservation at 6 pm on a Sunday night. It's a very refined, elegant space, with two floors of dining. Since we came as a complete group, we were eligible to be seated right away, on two tables next to each other. A little after 6, we were informed by the host that our initial table was not ready since it was still occupied, but that if we didn't want to wait, he could seat us in a private room (seating for 12) and waive the minimum party fee for such a room. Probably the easiest question to answer 'YES', that we had all day. So we were seated in a private room downstairs (away from the din), was served waters and given menus. Unfortunately, 10 minutes later, a female manager came to us, and apologetically explained that a mistake had been made: the room was reserved for a party at 6:30. It's interesting how she told me this: she never told me explicitly that we had to move, but wanted me to say it. I sighed, and said 'I understand...we'll move,'. She then informed us that we were going to get our original table, and that she would give us a 20% discount off the entire bill for our troubles. We were moved to two tables of 4, next to each other. My daughter and fiancé knew the menu and ordered the exact right amount of a la carte items for the group (knowing that there was an appetizer, sauce, dessert bar available). The only thing mandatory per person is the individual broth ($9.99) plus a $3.99 fee to use the AYCE bar. Everything else comes out in shareable plates: Beef tongue ($19.99); Boneless Beef Plate ($18.99); Kurobuta Pork Belly ($18.99); Hand Cut Gold Label Wagyu ($19.99); Enoki Mushroom ($9.99); Fried Bean Curd ($10.99); Small order sweet corn cob ($5.99); Napa Cabbage ($9.99); Hand Crafted Noodles $6.99). Before the meats came, a server came around to create customized dipping sauces. Then the meats/vegetables came in stages. All the meats were meant to be dipped to be cooked, and for my beef choices, it only took 10-15 seconds to get them to be perfect. The beef tongue is something I would order again in a heartbeat. The appetizer bar had things like green cabbage kimchi and shellable edamame....along with more choices for dipping sauces if the initial didn't fit the bill. There was also various cut fruit , chips, and even spanish peanuts (which I ate way too much of). There are plenty of small serving plates so a dining member who enjoys serving others while dining, can bring back different dishes for the table(s). Finally there is a Tasty Ice Jelly bar, which I totally enjoyed...very customizable. The ingredients remind me of what is available at a good frozen yogurt shop. (I love popping boba...when I got to a froyo shop, the price reflects mostly popping fruit boba in weight rather than froyo). And everyone got a small serving of vanilla soft serve in a sugar cone. Everything was really good. The service was the best I've experienced at any Hot Pot restaurant. This type of restaurant is naturally chaotic, busy, and loud...all things conducive for mistakes/misunderstandings. So when one occurred here, I didn't expect much...but was very pleasantly surprised when the manager immediately offered something proactively that makes the biggest difference: a reduction in price (in our case 20% off the entire meal)...and because it was offered before we ordered, it could be a factor what and how much was ordered. And she continued to check in on us to see how we were doing, and offering apologies for the initial misunderstanding (even though the mistake was not hers...but she acted as if the entire restaurant staff was one unit). Finally, the discount was automatically (and correctly) applied when the bill came, without us having to ask. It was just really well done...kudos to the management staff here...turning an initial negative into a really big positive. read more

Came here for dinner on Christmas Day after making a reservation beforehand. We were seated almost immediately, and our server, Mark, was extremely attentive and patient with us. Since we came before 5pm, we were able to order the set meal combo which comes with your choice of meat, soup, vegetable platter, unlimited noodles/rice, and sauce bar. I got the beef short platter with the original pork bone broth soup, and it was DELICIOUS. The soup by itself was already really good, and the meat was super high quality. The vegetable platter was also heaping with a good variety along with additional shrimp balls, spam, and imitation crab. My dad also loved their signature sauce blend (it's kind of like a seafood soy sauce) but you can also go and make your own concoction from their sauce bar. The noodles are also handmade and superrrr chewy; I was stuffed at the end but still ate another round of noodles just because of how good it was. The sauce bar also has an unlimited jelly bar, but my favorite was the soft serve ice cream that they bring out at the end. Overall, if you're looking for an upscale, delicious hot pot spot in downtown Bellevue, this is it. read more

This place was on my bookmark and have been wanting to dine here. I did make reservations cause it seem It does seem to get busy. Upon checkin we did have to wait a few mins. The host sat at our table and told us about the place. Menu was in an iPad where you are able to pick your broth and other dishes for the hotpot. I order the combination soup that was split between the silver soup broth and the Szechuan hot and spicy broth. I prefer the silver soup broth more. The hot and spicy was a little too much for me. We ordered some beef and veggies and noodles. The shrimp pate was good as well. It was plenty of food for 3 people to share. Veggies tasted fresh. There is complimentary fruits and ice cream. We did order the waygu pancake and it came out a little later, not sure if they forgot about it. They were good, but wish it was a bit crispier. It's a bit pricey if you're used to the all you can eat price. But it is worth a try if you're unable to do all you can eat. Very nice decor and ambience. Service was great and waiters were attentive. They do validate parking if your park in their designated garage. read more

Parking at the braven and is validated for 6 hours. This place is an upscale personal hot pot restaurant with great service and ambiance. Food quality was very high, although expensive. Food: 3/5. Quality of the meat was good, but this meal was not worth the price. Their original sauce (house special) was not that good, as it had a bit of an aftertaste. Service: 2/5. The food came out pretty quickly, but the waiter got our soups messed up. We got the tomato + pork bone, but they gave me and my friend the pork bone + mala spicy. Ambiance: 5/5. Loved the interior! The Dolar Shop is an upscale hot pot place that fits right in at the Bravern. And after our visit, I would also have to say it was probably the best hot pot place in the Seattle area but at over $100 per person without booze, it comes in as the priciest as well. The signature creamy pork broth is dreamy, especially on a rainy winter night. While the price of the broth is reasonable, prices start adding up with the platters, e.g. $80 for seafood, $20 for veggies, and then for the meats ($20-80). But the quality is top notch and it really is an elevated experience for hot pot. The soft serve at the end of the meal is also a nice bonus. My only complaint would be the seating - while the lower seats give the place a trendy lounge feel, I thought they were a little uncomfortable. Other than that, the Dolar Shop is the nicest spot for hot pot in the area. read more

I can only speak on the seasonal set menu which is available everyday before 4 pm. I think this is the best way to get to try Dolar Shop especially with a small group. You get a choice of all you can eat noodles or rice along with sauce bar. The sauce bar has fresh orange, kimchi, and edamame that you can fill yourself up on. This deal will make you full as you get a good variety of vegetables and other things. I got the lowest end set which came with surprisingly a good amount of beef. The handmade noodles are also all you can eat so you will really get full eating lots of noods. I thought this is a better affordable entry point at Dolar Shop and I was really full afterwards. The only negative is that you will be charged 3% for paying by card unless you pay by cash or fill out some weird survey. There is also free parking in the building that you can validate yourself at the front counter. read more

My friend is vegan and she makes her own vegan broth with plain water and items from the sauce bar! Adding additional items like seaweed knots will also enrich the flavor. Enjoy!

You can cook it and take it home but not raw.

Do not think so, some meats are marinated, but it states on the menu. Best to call and ask, they are quick to answer about allergies

I'd say yes since you have your own individual pot you can select a veggie based broth and only put vegetables and skip the meat. There's a veggie section of the menu and alternatives like tofu.
