Big fan of tiki bars so had to try this one. Sangria and Mai Tai were delicious but had a lot of ice so the "big" glasses weren't as impressive as they could have been. It's not even an alcohol thing, it's just a too much ice thing. The ambience was pretty cool and the patio nice, but the service was lackluster. Biggest pet peeve is hostesses and how they greet you, so 3 stars, enough said. Food was good! The fried rice was full of flavor and the bao buns are always a favorite of mine. Was really excited for this place, showed up to meet some people who said they were already there. When we stepped inside to look for them we were instantly attacked by not one, but four staff members individually about if we wanted a table we'd have to see the hostess. Continuously had to say our party was here. Music was horribly loud, I'm young, I don't mind yelling over music but when I'm yelling and still can't hear the person next to me, it's a bit much. The music was good though, great dj, just too loud. Service was TERRIBLE. Drinks (we ordered two) took over 20 mins to get out, then the waitress was annoyed when we asked if she could check on them. We tried to give the excuse that it was Saturday but the place wasn't that busy! The mai tai was like drinking straight rubbing alcohol, and the daiquiri had no alcohol in it. Mojito was pretty good. Food also took forever to get out, and we ordered appetizers. They were pretty good though when we finally got them. Only other comment was that when my boyfriend went to the bathroom there were men, piss drunk, falling over in the ONE stall and ONE urinal that they had. Overall, this place has great potential, I think mainly the service just needs to improve. And maybe less rum in the mai tai's ha. read more

This is a very fun place. The decor is cool he red chairs are awesome and we loved the lounge in the back. the sushi was very good. We enjoyed the music which was a great mix. The staff was very friendly, prices were reasonable and in a hot AZ night the A/C was blowin cold . Definitely a place we will be back to. read more

I was recently here on Saturday this past weekend with a friend of mine. Drunk Munk was becoming my favorite place to go for happy hour but that all went south when I had an encounter with the GM, I believe her name is Dory. My friend ordered the champagne bellini tower and was told by the bartender that it was on happy hour. We were having a great time until Dory came with an unacceptable attitude and told us that the tower was not on happy hour and that the bartender made a mistake. She told us that the original price for it was $35 but would give it to us for $20, which was confusing because the menu said $20. We told Dory that's what was told to us and why we got it. She then reacted by saying "well I am just going to take it away." She picked it up and walked away to the back. That ruined our mood and made us leave. The rudeness was uncalled for when the miscommunication was on their end. I had to address this because the GM's behavior was unprofessional and bad customer service. read more

I was a regular here until a recent BAD experience. Instead of writing this bad review, I'd rather speak to someone but can't even get through. I continue to get an automotive message saying this party does not receive calls at this time without an option of leaving a voicemail. I've even brought groups of people here on several occasions and something as simple as a phone line that was turned on during advertised hours of operation could of possibly kept my friends and I as customers. read more

My friends and I trying to support the local business, but it appear they don't want or appreciate our business. After spending over $400 we were asked to leave because what it appears was they were changing shifts. I understand if it was busy at the time and tables were in demand or our group was not spending money and was being loud, but none of this was the issue. The first excused was that we were not ordering food, but assuming the new hostess found out we were spending plenty, she then stated there was others waiting for the table which no one was standing or waiting at the time. True that we were there 2-3 hours, but when a customer is spending money at your establishment and not giving anyone any trouble why would you not want to keep that business. Surprisingly the first hostess did not speak up, but I guess after getting her $100+ tip and it was the end of her shift, it wasn't a concern to her any longer. Very disappointing!! read more

Went here for my friends birthday. Drinks were basic, but had cool glassware. Happy hour prices were good. Cant beat half off. The potstickers would have been good if they were crispy, but they were soggy. The orange chicken with fried rice was my favorite. One thing that really bothered me about this place was the menu. First, the menu online is not correct and it must have been a rough draft since some of the prices are listed as $??????. The menu at the restaurant isn't much better. There is no consistency in descriptions and that comma usage is all over the place. I'm not usually one to notice grammar, but this menu was just terrible!! Should be proofread and take a few minutes to correct! It's not hard. Makes you wonder if they cut corners on the menu, what are they cutting corners on behind the bar or in the kitchen? read more

If you like good music, good food, good drinks, and enjoy your time with good company, this place is a great option. I think people need to ignore the previous low reviews, and perhaps just check out this place. The decor is actually well thought out, it's a modernized tiki lounge, which is nice refresher from the dated tiki lounge motif. This is a fun new place, with a great drink menu and good food menu. This place reminds me of a tiki lounge in Palm Springs, that I like stopping into. Always wished we had one like it, in our town. The staff here is very friendly, and the music the DJ was playing was on point. I've been looking for place that has good mix of 80's, 90's, and other eras that flows well, and he does not blast the music. I really don't like places that blasts the music so loud that I can't hear myself think. The music was just loud enough to enjoy and sing along to with my man. I did not have to scream, at the person across from me, to ask how their food or drink is. I had the Mahi Mahi dish and it was really good, and tasted fresh. I like that the drink menu sticks to the tiki lounge theme, good variety, and fun cups the drinks come in. I wish I had the option to purchase the cups. I tried the Kitty Kitty, it was tasty, however, too sweet, for my taste buds. I personally don't like my drinks to be too sugary. I'll have to remember to ask for my drink not to be made sweet. I like that there is brunch menu. I believe the Drunk Munk will be in our Sunday Funday and Saturday brunch rotation. read more

Terrible experience. Food was tasty, but manager was unbelievably rude.. We sat at 8:30 and they told us 90 min time frame at table. We ordered right away with a very sweet waitress. 2 of us got our food. One of us did not. After 3 requests for the final meal it ends up needing to be "to go". This is 2 hours later. We asked to speak to the manager..: who came out guns blazing and accused us of demanding a free meal (we did not... but that shouldn't need to be demanded or even asked for). I told her I understood they were short staffed , and that the waitress was adorable and trying... but... no food. We were accused of being disrespectful. At the end.. the manager did the right thing and comp'd the food... but not after being extremely rude. I would never eat at this restaurant again. It has a shorter wait than most for a reason. Go elsewhere. I wish I knew the name of the manager. The waitress was a gem... I hope she finds a new restaurant. read more

Oh boy where to start!! First off, if I could give them zero stars I most certainly would. Second, they have absolutely terrible service. We had to serve ourself because there was not a single waiter/waitress in the entire restaurant and the manager was too bothered to provide much customer service. I'm surprised they didn't require us to make our own drinks. Third, terrible customer service and for a bar, they dont even know liquor law! We went in with a group of four. When we went up to the bar (to serve ourselves after sitting ten minutes at a table) the youngest person in the group did not even get carded. They then refused to serve everyone else with a vertical ID claiming it was "liquor law" when in fact Arizona state statue says that citizens have 30 days after they turn 21 to obtain a horizontal ID and that bars are expected to serve those individuals within those 30 days. My friend turned 21 on January 22nd of 2020 and we had gonee out on January 24th of 2020. They either dont pay attention or just look for a reason not to serve young people. If you want an example of their terrible customer service just take a look at all the negative comments when people have a problem with their terrible service and see how they are talked to. They neither apologize or acknowledge the problem so many people are having. I highly recommend enjoying one of the SEVERAL other bars in old town where the employees arent lazy and on a power trip, the drinks are not overpriced, and you do not have to serve yourself. Oh yeah and to top it all off, the manager complained to all of us how inconvenient it was for her to have to come out of her office to look at the I.D. This place is an embarrassment. I went here and sat down at the bar. I asked for a Tito's and soda. Received my drink and it tasted like rubbing alcohol. I kindly sent it back and asked for another drink. At this point the bartender started harassing me and verbally abusing me and my gf. He served us another drink, it tasted the same. Sour and stale. He made it a point to come back and mock us. He goes " how is your drink now" and not having the heart or will to complain I said fine even though it tasted foul and sweet. He proceeds to say "well it's the exactly the same as last time". So my friend and I decided it wasn't worth staying there. As I was complaining about his treatment to my friend his colleague said I was being discriminatory of him which I had to let her know I work with disabled people every day and I was not saying that. Since we did not take even a sip out of our drinks after two bartenders were rude to us we pushed the drinks to the side and said this is not worth is. We walked out with our drinks completely full of tegrey and feeling helpless. We left and they stopped the guys to the right of us to pay for the drinks we kindly asked to pass up. The guys let us know the establishment would not let them leave and made them pay for it. They guys let us know since we were sitting up to the right or the establishment. We went back to relieve the strangers of the tab they had nothing to do with and we were met with more chaos . The bartenders had been fabricating the story of what happened and played us off like we were crazy. To the short haired woman who claimed to be the manager and the bartender who with an anger issue and worked Saturday night at 11 pm I feel sorry for you that you get upset by customers who might not like your drinks. I am extremely disappointed in this place. A friend and I went in for dinner and drinks last night (party of 2). We checked in with the hostess for a table outside, she advised that it would be a thirty minute wait which we agreed to. We sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited for our table, after 40 minutes, we went to check on our table and she said "sorry, I forgot about you and gave the outside tables away" Excuse me? Forgot about us? I asked to speak with the manager and she continued to make an excuse that she was a "young hostess" and it was her "first job". I don't feel this is an excuse to not seat people that have been waiting for a table while she is seating people as they walked in the door. Other than the poor customer service, the food was pretty good and the restaurant has an excellent vibe. been here when it's dead and when it's busy and busy is a total 360! host took forever and once I did get a table my waitress NEVER came by. To the point where the host comes back 15 mins later to my empty table and asks if i have been helped. My waitress sucked so bad i understand lol bad days or ppl get busy but other waitresses were working their asses off she just looked so lost ! I wish i had a different server lol It was so bad we had to call for her several times and she would still forget to put in our requests. She was honestly avoiding us walking in other directions and not making eye contact on purpose lol Some things we ordered she never brought She even forgot to charge us for some things we did get lol yay. My husband and I decided to spend the day shopping & eating in Scottsdale. I was starved and the weather was gorgeous so we sat outside at the closest place, the Drunk Munk. We waited about 10 minutes for our waitress. The menu was extremely limited, but we both found something. After sitting with an empty glass for 15 minutes, I went inside to get a refill. Another 45 minutes went by and no waitress, no food, no anything! (The tables around us were experiencing the same service) Finally (after an hour since we arrived) our food was "dropped" on our table & she was gone. As I looked at my food I noticed it wasn't what I ordered. After waiving our waitress down 15 minutes later, I explained that this was not what I ordered. All she did was look at me...She said nothing...not "I'm so sorry let me get a rush on yours or can I get you something else"...she just stood there. Finally I spoke up & said I just will not eat. I don't care to have to wait another hour for my meal." She finally said ok & walked off. My husband tried to eat his food, but he said it was awful. The couple at the table next to us just shook their heads in disgust and apologize at the terrible treatment we received. The waitress came by (after we had to go ask for our bill) and she looked at me & said I took your meal off. Why THANK YOU for not making me pay for something I did not order! This completely ruined our entire afternoon. I would NEVER recommend this place. It was horrible on every level! read more

I have been out of town so I was not able to visit The Drunk Monk when it first opened. I live right in the neighborhood and almost wish my usual place would have been open on Labor Day. But it wasn't so I tried the Drunk Monk. I think I have found a new place to go! The bartender, I cannot pronounce her name was fantastic. I asked her for recommendations on a appetizer and she suggester a bottle rocket. (I think that was the name) I was having the best Mia Tia I ever had so I am not sure:) I also had the fried rice. I liked it so much I went back on Wednesday hoping that they would have the US OPEN on the TV But it's not a sports bar so why should they. The same wonderful bartender who we decided I should call Jam put my water in a plastic cup for me so I would have water while I walked over to Kelley's to watch tennis. Who does that! Such service! Kelley's closed at 9 so I went back and told two gals who were about to go into Kelley's to go to the Drunk Monk because I think they stay open. We proceeded to have a wonderful time with many drinks. We all were not driving. I have told many people about my experience. I live at the Broadstone Waterfront so I definitely will be a regular. I like it because I sometimes will go out by myself and I felt really comfortable there. The other patrons were really nice and actually wanted to talk and not stare at their phones! read more
