Great food, great drinks, amazing server AMY made it a very delightful experience! Highly recommend this place.

The happy hour here is great, but operations are reeeally not. I was on the patio with friends the first time I was here, and it took nearly 20 minutes to order a drink. The 2nd time I tried to come here we had a dog with so needed a patio table and it was during off-peak hours. The host first told one of the guys in our group that it would be 30-40 min. I then went and spoke with the host stand because the inside and patio were both sparsely sat and the outdoor bar was completely empty. She told me that there was only one server taking care of all the inside and outside tables, so it would be 10-15 min. I asked if we could sit at the bar outside while we wait, or just sit and stay at the bar. She said she would ask that bartender and then came back and said no, that he was taking care of all of the outside tables himself...right after she had told me the one server was taking care of all tables. I asked then if we could just sit there while we waited and, and that we understand it may be a min, and she said that wasn't ok either. We could stand on the patio for 10-15 to wait to sit in the exact same empty chairs. I understand Covid has turned the service industry upside down, but this seemed super ridiculous. read more

I have been wanting to come to this place for a few years now. Somehow we always end up across the street at Kelly's, staring at all the people at the Drunk Monk! We had family come in from out of town, so I suggested we go to The drunk monk. First the good- The food was outstanding! I had the Polynesian burger, and it was delicious! Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. My cousin had the steak tacos. Again- a hit !! I had a raspberry Mojito, and even though it could've used a little bit more alcohol, it was still really good! Now the bad (and I hesitate saying the word bad, because it was not horrible) but our waitress just did not seem like she wanted to be there. She wasn't rude, she wasn't inattentive, she was just "Meh." I know. I know. The restaurant industry is going through such a rough time right now. I am so glad she came to work and was able to serve us, but she should tryyyy to be a bit more friendly. Again, I feel bad even saying this, I'm sure the monk is shortstaffed and these people are being run ragged. I did give her a good tip, but only because I know these people have it rough. Amazing service! Erin took care of me and my friends during happy hour (which is off the charts great) and gave us all the attention needed. Checked on us, suggested drinks, and when my friend had requested raspberry in one of the drinks, she went and had them muffle REAL raspberries!! Don't post on Yelp with great frequency, however, wanted to comment on the Drunk Munk. Miss Cowboy Ciao, however, Drunk Munk definitely a great spot. We went for happy hour and enjoyed great shrimp, short ribs and coconut shrimp and delicious drinks. Highlight of the evening was our server, Micah. Outstanding and a true professional. The dip trio was good, service was good, but I'm not kidding, you'd think you were at a damn cow auction with the amount of flies that were in the dining area. Absolutely disgusting, we were barely able to enjoy our lunch with the flies in our food and face. It was unbearable, we planned to eat appetizers and lunch but could not even stay beyond the appetizers the flies were so bad. Ended up across the street at Barrio Queen where the flies were no where to be seen, and food was great. read more

Spent a week in Scottsdale, this place was hands down the best in town. I'm an older woman traveling alone, in a very young town. The servers here treated me with the utmost respect, and made my trip phenomenal . I don't remember the gals name my first night in, she was amazing, but Alex waited on me the next 3 times I went there. Both were fantastic, and so nice to me. The sushi is so dang good, the vibe is right up my alley, tiki bar, dimly lit, so fun. This is my go to in Scottsdale, but mostly because of Alex. I sat down at the bar, and she remembered my drink and I was served within minutes of being seated, even on a crazy busy night. She also remembered what I liked to eat, and had it ordered up in no time. Bonus, there were about 20 people waiting to get in, I walked up to the front of the line and asked if they had room for 1? They took me to the front of the line and got me in. Even an old lady like me, in a town of young peeps.I swear, this was the only bar/restaurant in town that didn't treat me like crap because I was 55, not 21. Food-excellent. Service-excellent. The restauraunt has a very nice menu. Advertises great happy hour. That's where it ends. Staff from hostess to bar tenders to servers are green, unfriendly, and clearly need to understand customer service. I was seated at the bar and 10 minutes with out any acknowledgement that I was even in the restaurant. 4 bar tenders behind bar more focused on their cell phones, boy friends and plans for the evening. Finally got up and walked out. Hopefully management will address the customer service aspect as appears to be nice concept. read more

I've been out to a lot of places and have never been so disappointed. All of the recommendations from the sever were more then disappointing. Spent $17 for 3 bites of sushi and horrible service from my server. The table gussets were more attentive at saw them more then my own waitress. Will not be back! read more

Let's talk about how excited I was to see a tiki fusion bar (I'm originally from out of state and had a face one where I'm from that is amazing) so I had high hopes. My friend had gotten there about 15 mins before I did and still hadn't received her drink. There were 20mins left of happy hour and I was thinking perfect timing to get in atleast two drinks. WRONG! I was there 45 mins and NEVER got my drink. It wasn't that busy, my food came and I waited another 10mins just for someone to walk by to ask for silverware. Mind you, I'm still waiting on my drink and water. Atleast bring the water. I had to get up and walk to the bar so thirsty, to be greeted by a very rude tender who told me it wasn't his job to give me a drink cus he's not my server (sir, yes it is) he then chucks a sprite at the counter and slides it to me rolling his eyes. Got a discount on my food, but I came for drinks. On top of this, I'm a career server more than 12 years, I'm very patient and understanding in this industry. This was ridiculous! read more

Newer restaurant in the former Cowboy Chow location. Plenty busy during start of Canal Convergence. The patio is exceptional. The indoor decor is pretty much the same. The greeting was negligible. Our group tried a bit of everything on the HH menu, including beer and wine. Everything was well presented. Our server was overworked but she maintained her composure even with pay at the table glitchware. Suggest bike racks for the active customers wheeling in. We'll give it another try soon! read more

What started out as a very nice dinner failed... the vegetable salad had "NO" vegetables and when we talked the to waitress she said would go back and talk to the kitchen. When she came back she said the manager said that's the way it comes! So instead of providing vegetables he said no. What an asshole, too bad we are locals and will tell everyone not to come to the restaurant. Too bad this schmuck did not do the right thing and accurately represent the Menninger and what would have been an easy fix to add the vegtables he did not.... stupid move in this mental Mormons part. read more

My husband and I went there for dinner and drinks. It was early and the place was half empty, and it wasn't Covid spacing either. We asked for a table and the hostess informed us that we would not be able to be seated for at least an hour. She didn't appear to have a list of names or others waiting. When I asked if we could sit at the bar, she said "no." We went across the street where we felt welcomed. We spent about $150 and we're happy to patronize a business that deserved it. read more

Not a crowded bar and after waiting 39 minutes at the bar with my fiancé and not even being looked at by the bartender I gave her one last chance- got the drink but after that we became invisible again. Easy 5 stars! Super fun atmosphere and interesting drink selection and menu. We tried the Morning Dew and Crispy Spicy Crab Dynamite sushi rolls and they were very different but would recommend both. Terrible. This place is cute, but could really use a new chef. Our food came out one item at a time. Edamame was uninspired boiled beans presented in a plastic cereal bowl. Teriyaki Chicken Bowl was nasty rice with a boiled chicken breast on top presented in a plastic cereal bowl. Street corn was small boiled corn cobs - no grill char - but at least this wasn't presented in a plastic cereal bowl. Baratta salad was swimming in dressing. Understaffed during Canal Convergence! The hostess told us the kitchen was closed when we got there, but came by 10 min later to inform us the kitchen was in fact open. Maybe I'll try back in a couple months when they've nailed down their staff a bit more. The bartender was reminiscent of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, no pizazz - at all, not what you'd expect in a brand new tiki bar! On a Monday night, with 4 of us at the bar, he stood in the corner on his phone texting and when he looked up he made it seem like a burden to make our cocktails (which were delicious when we finally got them), and never offered us another round despite the universal sign of "we'd like another round" (drinks pushed to his edge of the bar). He had little knowledge of the menu, had to go ask the kitchen every time we had a question, (fine you're new, but was there not any menu training?) and the short rib bao buns had minuscule scrapings of what seemed like meat in them. I was super excited to try this place, and like I said I'll try again once the kinks are work out and can hopefully update my review to 5 stars! The decor is amazing, some serious work went in to that, and I appreciate that kind of thoughtful set-up. Drunk Munk could (and should) do really well, but not with that kind of service in the heart of old town. Put your phone down, engage with your guests, and maybe study your menu! Terrible service and food. Went there for the first time the other night to celebrate a birthday. We sat down and no one came over to us for at least 20 minutes and we had to go and tell the front. Then we ordered a couple of appetizers (shrimp skewers and California roll) and that took another half hour and the waitress didn't even come back and take our entree order. Then the bowls we ordered came out and the rice was extremely spicy and it made our stomachs hurt. We had ordered a side of avocado with the rice bowls and that didn't come out until 15 minutes after our entrees were received (but we were still charged). The waitress never came to check on us and just came and brought the bill without asking about dessert even though we had made it clear we were celebrating a birthday. When we expressed that our meals were too spicy due to the rice (no spice indicated for bowls on menu) and brought up the issues of the long waits she said that she knows the waits had been really long for us and that their food takes awhile but that "the company was new and that We could go on a service called Yelp and leave a Yelp review (direct quote)." Our waitress did not offer to switch out our meal or try to cure the issues in any way. I can't remember her name but I do remember she had hair down to her feet. She didn't even offer to get a manager. All in all this place may be new but I doubt they will be in business long because their food isn't great, they have no service skills and take forever to serve people/bring out food and the staff is not customer oriented.. I do not recommend this place and would advise others to go elsewhere. Hula is in old town as well and they have everything the Drunk Monk does not! We ended up having to go there after. --------------------------------------- My response to the manager as he is not being truthful and is referring to someone else: Hi Greg, Thank you for following up to my review but I think it's funny considering we didn't get the appetizers (such as the crab dynamite) you are claiming were taken off our bill and the bowls definitely didn't have the spicy symbols next to them. I honestly never care to review places but after trying Drunk Munk 2 times I probably won't come back for a while. I went for the first time for dinner and it was very loud inside, so definitely request outside if you have a larger party or actually feel like talking at a normal volume. As far as the food it's good, I got the lettuce wraps which I liked but for $21 and the portion size it should be an appetizer. However they were good and my friends pulled pork sandwich was good as well so I decided I'd give it another go and get something else! I got the Drunk Munk chopped salad to go which is $18 and maybe in the restaurant it's better, but the portion for $18 was honestly sad. There was hardy any arugula or couscous, mainly just the mix ins. Definitely doesn't come near to the original Cowboy Ciao chopped salad as far as taste and portion. I've never left a review on anything so this speaks volumes.. The hostess who worked Thursday night (3/21/22 @ 9pm ish) was SO SO SO RUDE. We walked in wanting to just go to the bar for some drinks, we didn't realize we had to stop and tell her that, so she got rude with us and had the worst attitude i've EVER experienced from someone working in the food industry. i was truly shocked the way she spoke to us, like i didn't even know what to say back the tone in her voice was so condescending and rude, we were shocked we almost just left because who speaks to their customers like that, and we were so polite we said "oh sorry just trying to go to the bar" like girl why give us attitude for no reason, we just walked in and this is how you greet us!?! We have never been here before so we didn't know we had to stop and tell her we wanted to go to the bar, she could've been nice about it! We ended up just going to the bar and the bartender was super sweet and the service was good but the hostess ruined it for us. I've seen other reviews about a hostess at this location being rude so if i were the manger who comments back on all of these reviews, take into consideration maybe getting a nicer and more welcoming hostess because i'm sure she's turned away plenty of business with her attitude and almost turned away ours.. read more
