This is some of the tastiest Mediterranean food I have had in a long time. I came here two days ago and ordered the "Gyro Mix." Five minutes after ordering, I received a huge plate containing a chicken kebab, steak kebab, and sliced gyro over a bed of rice with salad, hummus, and pita on the side. The dish came with Tzadziki and chile cilantro sauces. The dish was such a hit that I just came back for the same. I was notified that they were out of rice and opted to substitute potatoes. Unbelievably, the already great dish got exponentially better with the meats sitting on a bed of thinly sliced potatoes sautéed in the cilantro sauce. These potatoes are very rich, so if you are looking to eat light, opt for the rice. In fact, the potatoes are so rich and they give so many that it's better to order a side of it to share among two or three people in my opinion. A solid five stars. Also, it is definitely worth mentioning that this place is located in a liquor store. It sounds strange, but it is a nice environment. Plus, you can purchase beer and drink outside on one of their large patios. Win-win situation. read more

Before this location opened we always frequented the Rancho Dominguez (Compton) location because they had a hookah lounge in the back room, not too sure if that still exists, but my husband was going through a hookah phase and we were there at least 3-4 times a week. So when the Long Beach location, we checked it out once and totally forgot about it until recently, and as of late I've been coming here regularly for solo lunches and to-go orders for dinner. We are big fans of this spot! Love the concept of this fast casual restaurant that's located inside a very clean/organized liquor store. We even recently introduced my 18 year old nephew to this spot and he's also a big fan and always wants to grab food here. The price is decent, the food is great, simple and easy good eats! Everything is great here, the chicken kabobs are tender and juice, the gyro has so much flavor, the shrimp has a burnt char on the edges, baba ghanouj and hummus is amazing, the only thing that is ok in my opinion is the rice. read more

OMG! What happened to this place? We used to come here regularly, even cater events. I spent almost $35 for the following: mixed grill with overcooked dry chicken, raw ground beef and chewy beef chunks, side of potatoes and cheese flan. The rice was the best thing on that plate. Then they charge you $9 for an order of small potatoes. I remember how wonderful they were. So I said, what the heck? I hate giving a negative review while restaurants are struggling due to void, however I should have read all the bad reviews first! Completely terrible experience. My food was prepared incorrectly please see attached photos. The person over the phone was very nasty to me. I told her I was unable to come back because I was already home and didn't have anyone to watch my littles ones. I luv weight down the street it normally wouldn't be a problem but tonight I couldn't return. She basically told me I was out of luck and she wouldn't be able to help me. I then asked to be refunded and was told I would have to call back tomorrow. I decided I would just forget about it. It wasn't worth calling tomorrow, I just won't return I would just stick to the Carson location which I go to a few times a week and the Downey location the olive which I also love. This is such a random spot in Long Beach but a gem. It's also close to my work so a lot of my coworkers come here. My fiancé and I frequent this place and it doesn't disappoint. The Green Olive at Long Beach Blvd and 5th closed so I had to drive to this location on Long Beach Blvd North of Spring Street. Located in a strip mall it looked more like a liquor store than a Green Olive restaurant that I am used to. Since I Grub Hubbed I picked up food instead of passing by. The food was great! Similar fare to what I was used to but better...tastier food, very nice young team of people working, order was right on and I got a kick out of them surrounded by a liquor store! There are three Green Olives that are much closer to me, but I drive from Montebello to Long Beach just to go to this Green Olive. The spicy potatoes are DELICIOUS! Thin sliced so you can taste all the deliciousness and they must cook/fry/bake their pita bread for their wraps different than the other locations because theirs is always soft and fluffy on the inside and perfect on the outside. The other places have a very thing hard pita bread. The staff here are awesome. Very friendly. This Green Olive is also inside a liquor store that has a very huge selection of alcoholic beverages, which I think is a plus. Will never go to any other Green Olive. read more

My first time the sauces were watered down, almost no taste and the rice a little stale. Did not like it. The second time I tried the pita bread was cold, hard and stale. I keep wanting to like this place, but after trying 3 times over a few years, I am settled on my negative opinion. This last time I got a Greek Salad because I thought, how can you screw up a Greek Salad? But the lettuce was so wet that the minuscule bit of dressing they put in it wouldn't stick to the lettuce. So there was little flavor from that. Usually the real flavor from these salads come from the Kalamata olives and feta cheese. But there was barely any cheese and few Kalamatas (though there were plenty of green olives - but not what I expect in a green salad.) My partner got the eggplant wrap, but it wasn't a wrap. He said the flavor was okay, but nothing to go back for. I won't be giving this place a 4th chance. read more

There was more than enough food for 4 big eaters. The beef kabob was a big hit with all of us--flavorful & tasty. The chicken kabob was a bit on the dry side. I LOVED their hummus--delicious! I've been to to Green Olive in Long Beach (Bixby Knolls) and the one in Huntington Beach (Beach Blvd) Both had terrific food. The staff is nice and helpful at both locations as well.
