I came to this location after missing the OG cart I tried in New York. I can't say the flavors don't taste the same, but the whole experience was different. The food was okay, but compared to the New York one, NY is unbeatable. This one just felt too corporate. The meat portions are wack and they only gave sauces in packages. They charge extra for more sauce. Nothing felt fresh. The service was mediocre and almost hostile. I get that it's just a job, and it's hard to want to be at work than at anywhere else but service was very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. The food is always delicious at halal guys restaurant, You can't go wrong with anything you order. The difference is the service at the Cerritos restaurant. I've gone to the one in Long Beach and was not happy with the service there. I was greeted as soon as I came in. Marcos was very nice, he was clear on the toppings and made sure I got what I wanted in my order. His co worker was also very friendly, I didn't catch his name- sorry. So disappointed! Normally I really like Halal Guys, although food quantity and quality can vary, but this time I am really disappointed. Once of the issues at this location is having to wait several minutes to place a walk-in order because they are always slammed with large online orders right around the time they open and there never seems to be enough people working to handle both. However, I am used to this and go mentally preparred. Today while I was waiting the 5 minutes for someone to take my order I saw them putting these big, beautiful, falafel into catering trays and thought, since I had been wanting to try them, I would order a side of falafel to go with my regular combo plate. Got home to discover that for $2.50 I got these ridiculous, cold, hard, dime size falafel nuggets. The person who bagged them had their back to me so I couldn't see when they packed them up but what a ridiculous waste of money. I even checked the online pictures to see if the side are supposed be differnt but they show the same full size ones in the picture. Pretty good and really fresh, especially the pita and fries. I ordered the falafel bowl and they asked if it's ok that their pita sits on a mount of chicken to warm (for maximum flavor), assuming that I'm vegetarian. I'm not, but thought that was nice and conscious of them to ask. Then out of curiosity I asked what's in the white sauce but none of them knew. Didn't even know if it's yogurt or mayo based, they had no idea. Just told me if it's a secret but immediately gave me a taste of the white sauce on a piece of pita. Which was a nice gesture for sure, but I don't recommend immediately giving someone a taste of something that they inquire about.. like if someone asked if there's peanut in something would you immediately shove a PB&J in their face? Prob not.. thanks tho. But i highly recommend at least knowing what's in your food. Everyone has some sorta allergy these days :P Anyways. The falafel were good, kinda hard on the outside but it's tasty. Rice was good, just wish I got a little more rice and lettuce.. portions are super tiny. The only thing they're generous with is sauce. They walk around the tables to see how everyone is doing and offers more sauce haha. If you're a saucey person you're in for a treat! Disappointed this time around that they didn't have fries on a Monday night. The service was mediocre that the server wasn't really listening to what we were asking for, but kept going down the line. The place is 100% delish. I was skeptical bec so many Middle Eastern places just aren't what you expect especially being Palestinian I know how the meat should taste. I had to try this place. So I wanted to actually be part of the hype and go on grand opening day. Service is fast. Staff friendly. Tables to sit and relax to eat. Food: I got the regular combo of chicken and beef gyro. Since I've heard about their famous *white sauce*, i said yes to a generous amount and hot sauce on the side. Food was tasty. I wouldn't say excellent. I would give the food 5star rating, BUUUUUT its hella salty. I felt like i was bloating up after finishing the meal. I didn't eat all of it, it was shared with my 3yo son. Which he did love the rice and gyro. Next time, im gonna ask for more lettuce to replace the rice to help with the salt intake on the meat. read more

It was a cloudy day in Southern California, and the rains have decided to bless their grand opening day with some slight showers! Despite the rain, they still managed to gather a large turnout, and even provided people with giant umbrellas you can get from Home Depot (for $5!). Their menu is quite simple, think of it like a Mediterranean chipotle/subway. You pick your main source of protein (or a falafel for those vegetarians, they did not forget you!), and add your choice of sauces and sides as you walk down the line. They have a variety of sides you can choose from if you'd like to add more Mediterranean flair to your dish! Having chose the combination platter, I felt that this was the best choice for a first timer! You get the best of both worlds and you can try both their gyro and chicken! I got barbecue, which went very well with all the flavors, and a side of hot sauce, because it was too spicy for me (Three drops was enough)! I chose not to go overboard with the white sauce, because it's best you don't overdo it all at once, unless you already know what you're doing! Should you need more white sauce, they are more than happy to oblige. Personally too much white sauce definitely changed the flavor for me, and made the dish a lot heavier. They also have a rewards program where you can collect points and win free food as you accumulate points! So definitely sign up for that if you fall in love with the place! read more

All of the food is good and appeared fresh-even the iceberg lettuce, which wilts easily. The main thing that pleased me is that Candis acknowledged me even though she was busy. I'm a frequent customer at this location because it's close by my parents house, but now that I live in Covina I might just drive all the way in Rowland Heights for some Halal. I have been coming for 2 years now and I never have a problem with customer service or portioning of the food until last month. I didn't review then because I understood why they may not offer you bell pepper or onions on your plate or gave you an attitude when you ask for some because the manager might be having a bad day. But today, 9/16/18 at 820P I came in to get a combo platter with two crew member in line-- one manager and one crew member. It wasn't so busy and when I had asked some bell pepper and onions it felt like I was bothering them to add some on my plate& it was the manager btw (Ignored it) Checking out, I was told by the cashier that they ran out of the white sauce (understandable) Instead they give you these white sauce in a little container (posted under this post) I had asked the cashier if I can have one more because this little container doesn't look like the packets they give and he said, "I don't know, it's what my manager said. I'm going to have to charge you for another one" l I understand food places run out of stuff specially if it's the end of the day, but one little container doesn't compare to the packet they give you.
