Chicken Platter with Tzatziki sauce on side. My side of hummus was missing.
    Corinne M.

First time here since they had a special advertised on Facebook for free chicken wings with a minimum purchase. I ordered the Chicken platter and it was excellent! The only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 was because I paid for hummus on the side and it wasn't included in my bag. I ordered mine to go. The food was very healthy. I might return because they also serve Babaganoush, which I love and isn't found in American supermarkets.

Chicken is like boiled with garlic

Honestly this place is super dirty. The veggies taste like if they have been pre cut and left outside then refrigerated! For a first time tbh never again.

The food was okay, we got the regular combo plate and the portions are plentiful, enough for 2 people to share. Makes for a great low carb/keto meal if you just ask for more lettuce in place of the rice. The place seems a little run down so we took it to go and enjoyed it at home. The halal white sauce is really good, the hot sauce makes you sweat so don't put too much of it on your plate if you can't take the heat!

The one on the left is the beef gyro plate with barely any meat at all.

We came to buy 3 plates of food on Saturday night, around 9pm thirty minutes before closing. Me and my brother were served our 2 mixed plates by a kind female server with glasses (I regret that I forgot her name but I know it starts with an M). The portions she gave were very fair and her service was great. However, when my parents ordered their plate, they were served by Katie and her portion giving was totally subpar! They ordered a gyro only plate and she gave two half scoops that equaled up to one normal scoop. Then, when my parents asked her if that was the right proportions, she said yes and proceeded to want to charge them for an extra scoop. On top of that, her attitude and service were terrible and unwelcoming. We've been going here for years and it has always been a hit or miss with the employee serving the portions. But to be honest, more times than not we have experienced very skimpy servers. It's too bad because the food is great, but when the servers are trained to be too skimpy, it reminds us of Chipotle and we are just so tired of spending our money here when the portion isn't at all equal to the price. I really hope the owners and management can train all their employees to give a fair, decent sized portions, especially in this economy. If things don't change soon, all business will be going to Kebab Shop next to Target.

Went at 7pm Friday for take home dinner. Told the guy beef AND chicken. He goes "oh OK". Does this look like beef and chicken? Even the beef was not really warm or fresh. Waste of money I also asked him if the side of hummus was $4 because that's how much it was last time? Instead of the $1 scoop that they put on top of your food. He responded yes, and then proceeded to charge me $6 for it. BTW this isn't the first time they don't get your order right. My work stopped ordering us meals from there because they always got some wrong.. Not going back for a WHILE...

    Sandwich with chicken

Was torn between this place and the kebab shop, for lunch today. Looks like halal guys won! I ordered the sandwich, interesting they call it that and not a wrap/gyro. I chose chicken as the protein, added hummus for an extra $1, lettuce tomato and their sauce. Very tasty, only complaint it will fall apart at the first bite. I don't know the solution to the bread falling apart so fast, but let's just say I needed a fork to eat the rest of the stuff.

I've heard of Halal Guys but had never tried it. This time we were in the area for something else and decided we would give it a try! We really love this type of food so it was a good healthy option for lunch. Upon entering we were greeted by staff. People were friendly and helpful. I noticed the restaurant has plenty of seating and there was only one other group dining, but we were here really early so it wasn't quite peak lunchtime yet. We ordered a couple bowls; I got the chicken and my husband had beef shwarma and falafel. They cooked the falafel fresh when we ordered, so it was hot a fresh and tasted great! The rest of the food was good too. It came with a packet of white sauce which is mild and creamy but adds a good flavor to the food. Everything was fresh and even my daughter enjoyed it. Nothing wrong with the food but it felt very...simple? I'm not sure what it was but it felt like this was underseasoned or something. It was delicious but it seems that other similar food I have had felt more "authentic" and this might be a little bit more for the American palate. Not really a complaint, but if you like similar places with bold flavors, you might not find those bold flavors here. All in all it was a tasty and healthy lunch. Child approved so that's also a good thing!

Typical Halal guys. Freshly made Mediterranean food served in a Chipotle style assembly line in a bowl! -Cute interior at this location. -Employees were very helpful. -Food is solid as always. If you are shopping yourself to death at the Cerritos mall, and feel hungry, this restaurant should be on your list to satisfy that hunger!!!

I love my halal guy's chicken platter fix with white sauce and a side of hot sauce. Unfortunately it is a hit or miss. This time around, my rice seemed like at the end of the barrel so I was getting a crunch in every bite. Apart from that, the customer service was excellent. I just wished I got fresher rice.

Hi Julia, Thank you for contacting us. Its possible that due to staffing shortage the location may have closed early for the day or opening later for the day. The yelp/google hours should be the most accurate for future references.

Why don't you have spoons when some of your other locations do?

Not sure..the closest thing they have here is sporks.

Still, we fondly remembered their generous, delicious portions, so we placed an online order. The website didn't give a readiness time, but remembering that they used to prepare everything fresh and take their sweet time, I told my husband we should wait a bit before heading out. When I walked in, the employees were chatting and laughing, which was nice to see. Then I noticed a pile of takeout orders sitting on a shelf. Hungry as I was, I silently prayed none of them were ours; I utterly despise cold food. I gave my name to the cashier--who skipped the greeting entirely--and was told it wasn't ready yet. I said thanks and took a seat. While I was waiting, another customer asked about her order and was initially dismissed with a "no." After a second look, the cashier called her back: "Oh, this is yours. It's been ready." No apology, just a cold shoulder. The customer was understandably ticked off. The real plot twist, however, happened when I got home. Apparently, "two skewers" now translates to a grand total of five pieces of chicken. That is definitely not what it used to be. To make matters worse, my worst nightmare came true: the food was cold. Well, not the chicken, but the french fries and pita bread were stone-cold and stale. Lately, I've been going to Luna Grill down the street. They actually serve fresh, much tastier food--and at prices that don't feel like highway robbery.

Don't get filled up on it, though--save room for the meats! Besides the lamb shank, I liked the kofta and the gyro. The first batch of kofta I had was very juicy, and the second was more on the drier side. Same goes for the gyro. It was cut kind of thick and was a little dry. The garlic sauce they have went very well with it! I also got the beets, and they were my favorite item. They were sweet and tender, cooked to perfection. The cantaloupe and honeydew were both very sweet. I think that's kind of hard to come by these days. Their pudding was okay, not my favorite. The lamb was tender and great, although it's one shank per person there is a lamb rice dish on the buffet line and you can get more lamb meat. The beef kebab is pretty standard and the rose water is uniquely good. Although I did water mine down a little to reduce the sweetness. Having lived in Beijing and eaten Uyghur-style food out in the streets and in established…read morerestaurants as I traveled around, I was unbelievably excited to find this restaurant near home. However, it left me wanting more. I do wonder about the plethora of high reviews, because from my standpoint of having had a lot of Uyghur-style food abroad and my husband who had never had any, this place disappointed in taste. Ambiance (3/5): It was large, brightly lit and clean, but being so empty, it felt kind of sterile in there due to the lack of air flow and a TV blaring Spanish infomercials. I think it would add to the mood if they played some light instrumental music. Service (3/5): There was one waitress the whole time we were there and other than taking our order, she didn't come by much. I had to go to her twice to ask for things, including asking about rice. It was weird that she let us order without letting us know that we had to order rice separately. Yes...unlike most Chinese restaurants that automatically serve complimentary rice with main course dishes, you have to order rice and it's charged per bowl. Yikes. Food (3/5): We ordered the spicy Sichuanese boiled fish, lamb skewers and popcorn chicken. Admittedly, the fish and chicken dish aren't very Uyghur, and for that, it's our fault. However, the fish just was not close to anything I've had elsewhere, and not in a good way. It wasn't that spicy and it didn't have that signature mala kick. It was also salty. This was probably the most disappointing. The popcorn chicken was called something else on the menu, but it was essentially a big order of what you'd get at a Taiwanese boba shop. My kids loved it but I questioned why we ordered boba shop food on a dish. If anything were to right the wrongs, I expected the lamb skewers to be perfect at the price for four and it being a major Uyghur specialty. While the smell of the spices was accurate, the chunks of lamb were dry and tough that even my husband who had zero expectations mentioned what I noticed. I'm giving this place 3 stars for it being a unique restaurant that tries, but at the price point and quality of food, we both didn't feel that it would be a place we would visit again. The empty restaurant during peak dinner hours might have been a hint. But if you have restrictions such as needing to eat Halal food, then this restaurant offers some different dishes, so that may be its huge plus.
