Went last Monday after running an errand. Unfortunately that put me at the Hat smack dab in the middle of their lunch rush, around 12:30. I pull up and the drive-thru is insane, so I decided to park and go in. The line inside wasn't bad. I was 5th in line to order. After ordering, I waited ~10 min. for my sandwich. Overall, the entire process took ~15-20 min. The pastrami sandwich was good. Not great, but good. I shared it with my husband. It was filled with pastrami and tasted exactly like the last time I had it in L.A. (Pasadena to be exact). I was a Johnnie's Pastrami gal when I lived in L.A. and was introduced to the Hat by my now-husband. I thought it was a 4-star place back then and still consider it a 4-star place. Alright folks, I've been to the original HAT in Cali. Went once and never went back. So, where's the rundown for you. Avoid long lines by going hella early in the most random time at 5:00pm or later after 8pm. Don't even mess with that drive through, it's horrendous looking. Park and just line up or walk in. Pastrami melt- 4/5. Onion rings- 5/5. If you love onion rings, this is the real deal. Chilli fries- 1/5. Fries were meh. Chilli looked like doo doo and I half lost appetite with the look, color, and everything about it. I didn't get cheese on top, cuz it drives me nuts to see unmelted chunks of shredded cheddar cheese on any hot foods. I want my cheese melted, not look like I just topped it right out of the fridge. Flavor was just...0/5 basically not good at all. And I am a self-proclaimed chili connoisseur. Pastrami burger- 5/5. I don't know what it is, but it was exceptionally good. It's new to Vegas but tastes like home to my heart. Ordered my regular pastrami dip. Line was as long and dramatic as their grand opening. There was six of us, two children. It was a smooth time in line and order came out quickly. We found a table quickly. People were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. The staff did come around and do follow up cleanup when you did get a table. Atmosphere was just as though you would walk in to the Upland location or Pasadena all in all. I have been to The Hat many times in California and it was my mother's favorite and would make me bring it to her from California. She could not wait for this location to open in Las Vegas. Unfortunately she passed before it opened. On her birthday this year my family and I decided to give it a try to honor her. We ordered of course the Pastrami Dip, Onion Rings, Gravy Fries and Chili Cheese fries. I can only speak on what we ordered. The Gravy fries and Chili Cheese fries were good just like they are in Cali. Remember these are very large portions so make sure you share! Finally got to try this SoCal staple a few weeks after their opening. While the drive thru was still insanity, walking in was a much more reasonable (maybe 15 mins) wait. This was one of my dad's faves, so as an homage to him, had to try it out and bring home (that said, there was a decently large dining room for people to eat in). Wasn't completely sure what to get and ended up with a few Pastrami Dips (which was 1 too many for 2 of us) and a Chili Cheese Fries. Pastrami dip was delicious.. not a whole lot to it, but honestly... there doesn't need to be! Amazingly, the leftovers were delicious the next day too, so if you're not sure if you need one more sandwich.. just get it and have it the next day. As for the fries.. like others on here, nothing earth shattering. Mind you had to bring them home, so the fries likely got a bit softer, but the chili was just okay. The amount of cheese was nice and absolutely necessary to change the flavor. Next time, I'd be going pastrami chili cheese fries (which I didn't see as a menu item until after paying) or fries and gravy (someone get them some cheese curds and these could be decent poutine. I will say that the fries tasted better reheated the next day... so either dine in and eat them fresh.. or maybe reheat them at home immediately?? The three stars is for the pastrami only. It's been ages since I last had The Hat's pastrami dip. I got really excited when I found out they were finally opening in Vegas. We were driving through a few hours ago and saw the sign and thought to ourselves, why not get a pastrami dip? The place was busy as expected. The line in the drive through was to the moon. So we decided to try to dine in, maybe it would be quicker. It definitely was faster to dine in. The service could be better. Since it's probably been 2 years since we dined in Lake Forest, I couldn't really remember what came standard with the Pastrami Dip. I also thought it came standard with melted cheese. It would have been helpful if the cashier asked if I wanted cheese, but she didn't. All she asked was if I wanted mustard and pickles. When I got our order, my husband asked why his bread was not rye. The cashier never asked what bread we wanted. The fries were kinda dry and lacked salt. The onion rings were just meh... I guess we were expecting the same proactive approach as the CA staff, but I guess we need to lower our expectations as this is Vegas outside the strip after all, and not our South Orange County hometown. So, if you are missing a SoCal joint, the pastrami is still wonderful, flavor was probably dialed down a notch from what I remember but still great. Just don't expect the typical South Orange County service and polished crowd when you dine in the restaurant. I was a bit culture shocked when I visited. But it makes it for a good "cheat day or month". It was moist and a little on the fat side rather than the lean dry stuff you get in most deli's. Togo's used to have this moist fatty Pastrami but in recent years has gone to leaner and drier. The wait was about 20 minutes before we could place our order. The Hat is known for their world famous pastrami. There are so many options on their menu though World Famous Pastrami Sandwich Roast Beef (Au Jus) Roast Beef (Gravy) Chili Dog Cheeseburger Steak Sandwich Ham & Swiss Turkey & Ham Sides: French Fries, Onion rings and so much more. Looking over the menu, my husband and I decided to try the following Pastrami Burger (Plain with just pastrami, cheese, burger patty, and pickles) Onion Rings World Famous Pastrami Sandwich Chili Cheese Fries Even though it was really busy inside, we did find several open tables for two. There were also two self serving soda stations inside the restaurant. The receipt included our order number, which would be called when the order was ready. It was busy but, our order was called relatively quickly, within 15 minutes. First thing that stood out was the portion sizes! We ordered way too much food, had plenty of left overs though! The flavor was amazing! Everything tasted fresh, hot, and made to order. The Pastrami Burger was my favorite. The pastrami and the burger was scrumptious, packed with flavor. Yay, The Hat's in Las Vegas! Every time I'd visit my grandparents in California, we'd go to The Hat down the street from their house so this is a fun nostalgia spot! My husband and I went this past Monday, May 25th around 6:45pm and the line was super short. It took exactly 13 minutes from standing in line to receiving our order! The inside is pretty sizable with a good deal of seating; although I'll note in true Hat fashion, seating is booth only (aside from a few handicap accessible tables) and it's a tight fit for us plus sized folks. The inside is decorated with wood paneled walls and lots of neon signage, both a fun nod to The Hat's California locations and the grand use of neon in Vegas. The woman who took our order was very friendly and other staff members were keeping the place nice and clean. The kitchen crew were also hard at work slinging all sorts of pastrami goodness! Since my husband and I are familiar with The Hat, we decided to share an order of chili cheese pastrami fries and a soda. The fries were a massive portion (as we remembered) covered in tons of pastrami and chili; we struggled to finish it all! It may not be the best pastrami in the world, but it's still got great flavor and is pretty tender. So happy to have The Hat here in town! read more

They have a lot of food items on the menu like Pastrami sandwiches, cold and hot sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Burgers and Sides. Having been a fan of The Hat growing up in So Cal, it was so awesome to see their first out of state location ended up close to me in Las Vegas! Overall, the space is what you'd expect from any So Cal location, wood paneled walls, old photos of original locations on the wall, plenty of seating, and the grill running at full steam loaded with pastrami. Thankfully the hype has worn off a little and our wait time from parking to receiving our food was less than 20 minutes. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Now for the best part, the pastrami! It was as I remembered. I won't say it's the worlds greatest pastrami, I think it could be better seasoned and a little more flavorful overall, but it brings me back to the meal I remember eating for years back home and that works for me. Finally made it to The Hat after waiting for the lines to die down a bit. As I'm originally from SoCal, I'd been to The Hat dozens of times but was excited to finally get their Pastrami Dip without having to drive 275 miles to do so. On my way, I couldn't help but wonder if this would be a similar experience to what I was used to, or whether it would be lacking somehow. Upon arrival, the hours long wait of their first few weeks had definitely become tolerable. We got there about 3pm and waited for perhaps 10 minutes before we placed our order. Don't be dissuaded by seeing the line start outside as it moves relatively quickly, and once you're inside, there will only be about 10 people ahead of you. The single file line feeds into multiple registers which is a nice efficient way to handle the crowds. Interestingly, there was a swarm of staff constantly cleaning, manning their stations, helping each other and it was just super impressive. They were not playing around here or wasting time which, for having a constant line and no discernible break to relax, was all the more admirable. And how was the food??? The Pastrami Dip was great, stuffed with tons of "California"-style razor thin Pastrami on a French roll half dipped in au jus and with a little mustard and pickles. Delicious and SO MUCH food! For just under $13 (as of June 2026), an incredible value. We also ordered chili cheese fries and the size of it was massive. Make sure you add shredded cheddar as you will get a fresh mountain of it on top of your fries. It was epic. My daughter had a chili cheese burger and you can see how they grill the burgers over an open flame so it has a great char flavor and paired well with their chili. I do want to offer a reality check on the Pastrami itself. The Hat is not Langers in LA, or Katz's in NYC, and it's not trying to be. It's really its own thing and offers a cheap eats alternative that is still great in it's own right. You really have to measure it within that tier. In SoCal at least, it is to Pastrami what Titos and King Taco is to tacos, or what Tommie's is to chiliburgers. Iconic guilty pleasures that you have to experience at least once, and recognize that The Hat has been around for over 75 years for a reason. All in all, this was either equal to or flat out better than the CA locations I'd grown up with. You probably don't want to do this too often because, you know, death, but for a once in a while guilty pleasure, you'll really enjoy this. The pastrami sandwich was very good and had a little kick to it. What really surprised me was the size of the fries. When they handed me two bags, I wondered why. One bag contained the sandwich, and the other was filled with fries. Their "small" fries could easily feed three people! For the price, it's definitely worth it. The small fries come with much more food than what you'd get at most fast-food restaurants. I ended up eating half of the sandwich and about one-third of the fries, and I'll be enjoying the rest tomorrow. I would definitely go back again. I have never been to any The Hat locations, so it was a no brainer to order their famous Pastrami Dip and a large Onion Ring. $21.46, tax included. The wait for the food was quick and I opted to take it home to eat, as it was already served in 2 to go paper bags. The portion of the large Onion Ring was very generous, compared to the main stream fast food chain. Tasted better too. Next time I have a crazing for onion rings, I will definitely considered The Hat. The Pastrami Dip I took home, felt like it was just their Pastrami Sandwich (no dip). The portion of pastrami was good for the price of the sandwich ($12.90). It was a decent pastrami sandwich, but not the taste of a Katz Deli one I still reminisce fondly after tasting it for the very first time almost 20 years ago. Bread definitely could be better, if it was just lightly toasted with clarified butter. Service was friendly and staff worked quickly. They also had someone constantly cleaning tables and checking the dining area, which was nice. The ambiance is retro and casual. I have been wanting to make it to LA to try this place for years and I am so glad they made one here in Las Vegas. I had the dip pastrami and my wife had the cheeseburger. We shared a side order of large fry's and let me tell so glad we did the fry's are HUGE. They were in a separate bag. The pastrami was so delicious well worth the 35 min wait in the drive through. Bread was so soft and fresh and let me tell you the meat had so Much flavor probably one of the best sandwiches I ever had. read more

It was just ok. The meat was pretty cold and I don't think that's what they're going for. The gravy fries were tasty. All the portions are huge and the prices are pretty decent. The wait wasn't too long 3 weeks after they opened. I do love the old school look of the inside and the employees were friendly. Unfortunately the sandwiches were the low point and to me, that's what this place prides itself on, so this spot may not be for us. read more

Wow! I've only had the chance to try this once. It was in Rancho Cucamonga. Then I heard it was coming to Vegas. I purposely waited a month for it to slow down.... It hasn't slowed down and I know why. This one in Vegas is even better than the one I had in Cali. Damn.. so juicy and good and filling. I saw a lot of people with the pastrami loaded fries. Had to try it to see what all the hype was about. Overall pretty good. Is the pastrami Katz Deli good, no but it is tasty.i think the pastrami could use some more pepper but that's the jaded New Yorker in me. Since they just opened they are pretty considerate of the folks in line. They had chairs set up outside for the wait which was only about 30 minutes since we got there just after opening. The portion size is insane for the cost. Half of what we brought home will be going in the fridge. It was a lot. Will definitely ba back when I'm on the area.
