I'm glad I tried The Henry for a late, light meal ahead of a planned networking dinner at a local sports bar. The Henry was a very nice spot, convenient walk from The Del. I sat at the bar and ordered a draught and the tuna chop salad. So simple yet so perfectly executed. I posted pics on my "foodie_favorites_"on IG. I so enjoyed my salad, I returned the next day for a quick lunch during our conference break. The Henry was jammed but the hostess said we could order at the take out window and take a seat at one of the sidewalk tables and they would bring the food out. This time I ordered the shrimp tacos and again, perfectly executed. If I lived on Coronado I would be a regular. Great experience all around. read more

HOWEVER it was very frustrating to see all other WHITE guests that arrived AFTER us get served first (water, menus, food, the check, etc). We had to keep reminding them to even bring the water after waiting 25 minutes... I placed my order for the turkey French dip with side salad. It came out with French fries instead which is fine but it def added to the overall negative experience. The food was mid. Au jus basically was water and sandwich was dry. Two. nights in a row the male bartender at Coranado "The Henry" was the rudest our party of 7 have ever experienced. We have frequently visited other Henry location and loved the level of service. Both nights we complained. The first night the managers expressed their apologies but tonight the manager could care less. So instead I yelped my way over to Coronado and found this gem of a restaurant with fast service, a lovely patio and strong drinks. Trifecta! What I love: as mentioned, my biggest pet peeve is a weak drink. My friend and I ordered martinis and a mojito. The martini was perfect. The mojito tasted delicious and was good and strong. Not some mint concoction with a splash of alcohol (will any of us be the same post-pandemic?). The short rib potstickers are stupid delicious and will make you see Jesus. I could've ordered nine more plates of those. The Seared Tuna Chop salad was crisp and refreshing yet very fulfilling. I was starving. I shared my salad because the portion was quite generous. We then took the festivities to close dinner out with Hank's espresso martini. I was in heaven, shout-out to The Henry for amazing food and great service. We had dinner reservations for 6:00PM on a Saturday to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived the restaurant and bar were already really busy. We approached the greeters to check in and immediately realized that we walked into chaos and some drama among the staff. I advised the staff that we were a little early for our 6:00PM reservation. Almost immediately a female staff member who looked like she just rolled out of bed unloaded on me. She made it very clear they weren't ready to seat us. We were eventually seated at about 6:25PM. Luckily we had the nicest server and he took his time with us to offer us his drink and food suggestions. I love the decor and openness of the restaurant. The restaurant is very noisy and crowded. Definitely not a good choice for a quiet dinner out.Being a foodie I really enjoyed being able to see into the kitchen. Probably win't go back to the Coronado location. First thing first food was great ! The wait time ruined the experience a bit but I take full blame for that for not making reservations. It was well over an hour and the hostesses weren't really friendly. I would've loved to sit on the patio side but beggars can't be choosers and I didn't really want to risk waiting even longer. The inside is too dark for my taste. I went with my 2 boys and it's not the vibe I was looking for(very dimly lit). For appetizers we ordered the potstickers (which were nothing special) and the spicy tuna and crispy rice which were to die for. My seared tuna chop was also fantastic. My son loved his Korean skirt steak which he said just melted in his mouth. My other son had the shrimp taco platter which was disappointing...a little cold and lacked some flavor. OK, so I've been to the Henry many times after my not so great review and I have to say that I've been very satisfied and happy. I think the day that I went when I had a bad experience it was just an off day. Got a bad server, but I highly recommend the Henry its an icon in Coronado. Came on a whim to have dinner at The Henry. It's open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located on the Main Street (Orange ave) in Coronado. The decor is nice and the atmosphere is charming with lots of energy. The place was packed on a Wednesday and by reservations only. The host/hostess said, if we didn't want to wait for a table. It's opened seating at the bar. They would be able to serve us. So we opt out for bar seating. We were quickly greeted by the bartender who took our food and drink order. Ordered: Lavish Pina colada, Jumbo lump crab cake, Korean prime skirt steak, spicy double egg fried rice The food and drinks is amazing. My steak came out perfectly cooked and the crab cake is freshly made. My only concern is the service. Once our food and drink came out. The bartender was non existent to us. The couple on the side and other guests were attended to more than us. When we were finished with our food and drink. That was the only time the bartender came to check on us and gave us the bill that was already put in a glass cup a few feet in front of us while we were still eating. Was craving coffee on my walk so I stopped by this super cute restaurant that has a cafe on the side for quick ordering. The baristas were very friendly and recommended getting The Rocket, which they said includes cinnamon toasted on a saucepan. This was one of the best drinks I've had in a while! Ridiculously good. We started with the new pressed sushi appetizer--unreal--and paired it with their new watermelon cocktail, which was refreshing and flavorful. For dessert, the new lemon strawberry dish was the perfect sweet finish. It happened to be the very first day of their Spring menu rollout, and no less than three staff members came by to check in and ask if we were enjoying it--which made the experience feel even more special and personal. I also tried the spicy tuna crispy rice (WOW), the short rib gyoza, and the umami Brussels--each one packed with flavor. But what really impressed me was the rotisserie and avocado salad--so fresh, so satisfying (i'm still thinking about it). I enjoyed this spot so much, I came back again during my short 3-day trip.
