Okay so we are at pier 39 and wanted fish and chips. My phone was close to dying so I didn't bother yelping this place first, BIG mistake! After ordering and paying I saw them pull out the frozen fish from a bag! The staff was rude and was yelling out all the orders. The food was terrible! Maybe it's because I've lost my interest in tourist traps like Pier 39, or because I'm tired, but I was not impressed with this place. I got the seafood combo which was shrimp (2), fish (2 medium size) and calamari (maybe 5 or 6 pieces). No cocktail sauce in this entire place, or at least I couldn't find it. Staff seemed disinterested in everything. Had to ask for my drink because they weren't going to give it to me --and apparently they were supposed to give it after I paid for my order while waiting for my food. It wasn't busy but it was a longer wait than what it should have been. Several others got their order before me and they had been behind me in line. Birds were in the restaurant and they unsuccessfully tried to shoo them out. I think everything I got was frozen and they just dumped it into the fryer. Grabbed lunch here before catching the boat to Alcatraz. The food came out quick and it was good. The kids meal was big. I had the fried shrimp it was great! Their slaw was good. The fish and chips consisted of fries and two small pieces of fish. The fish was mainly batter and tasted like it had been under heat lamps. Calamari was a few scraps of squid that covered fries to make it look larger than it was. I guess the price is moderate compared to what else is on the pier. read more

This has always been my go-to place when I'm starving after a day around the city and I just want a fast, but decent meal. First of all, both their spicy and regular chowder is bomb. I usually get garlic fries and the crab cake sandwhich, which is a must if you haven't tried it yet. They also are linked to a mini donut place right in front of it called Trish's Donuts, which I always grab a couple for dessert after. They lose a star for their customer service. We have been here twice and have always liked the creamy clamp chowder in bread bowl. The fried prawns and fish and calamari were not that impressive. Best to stay away from fried stuff. Service has been quick. It is always crowded and we have been lucky to find a seat/high stool inside...sharing a table with others. This place was recently remodeled and I must say that it looks way better now! They also changed the menu and added burger and sausages to it. The Louisiana hot link with grilled peppers and onions is a thumbs up. Not many places at the pier offer a good, cheap place to eat. The sausage with chips was only $6! Great deal! They also have this new grilled chicken burger which contains coleslaw inside. The coleslaw is amazing and unique and gives the burger a kick to it. The workers are fast-paced, and very hospitable. It's undertandavle For them to be a little on the edge since they have to constantly deal With hungry, rude customers all day who talk down to them just because they are in a fast food restaurant. I give the workers props for being very polite as well as make my Food very fast. There are still pigeons roaming around, but compared to how it was before, the pigeons are a bit scarce. This is a quick "cafeteria" style place. Counter/register teen with attitude and needs to get a personality check. Clam chowder in bread bowl was also served by her - no gloves for food handling, yes she grabbed bread with hands and the top of it as well. She simply yells out the order and it gets processed. Fries are greasy and not done enough. Went with big crowd and was hard to sit anywhere else even if we split up to smaller tables. We had different items and would never come here again not recommend it. I'd rather call state to see if they can shut them down! Most employees don't wear gloves that handle food. There was a trainee there and she was handling food with gloves while others assisted and didn't have gloves but handled money and other items. Just gross. We ordered a combo meal for about $12 thinking we'd split it a side of fries. All I can say is YUCK!!! The "combo" had 1 nasty fried piece of fish, 2 shrimp, 2 scallop, a few calamari, and nasty fries, add a small watered down fountain soda and you've got a $20 "keep picking at and hoping to find something that tastes good meal". This is my second time here and I love this place. I read some of the reviews and I have to disagree. I had their combo basket the first time and their shrimp wrap the second and loved them both. What attracted me to this restaurant was the actual clientele eating inside. Very relaxed feel to the restaurant and an inviting atmosphere. Great for a quick lunch or hang around and share a pitcher of cold beer. Friendly staff and clean kitchen. I honestly cannot complain about this restaurant. Keep up the good work! read more
