Itssssssss Me Where I Usually Get My Fish & Chips!!!
William B.

Since no yelper had yelped this place... I am gonna be the first yelper to yelp Pier 44 CHOWDER HOUSE which is located inside at AT&T PARK... And this is one of my favorite spots to have myself some Fish & Chips when going to a San Francisco Giants game!!! Although the Fish & Chips maybe expensive but who cares how often do I go to a giants game every year.. I just like to enjoy myself while eating the Fish & Chips and also watching the San Francisco Giants play...

A great bartender, worth their weight in gold!

So annoying having spent an hour searching for this place, never found it. Paid for parking, and you can't call. So disappointing

Oh my god this place is SOOO yummy. I visited this place twice over the course of 2 years. 2009 and…read more2011. It was delicious both times. When you arrive, look for an outdoor venue with a permanent food truck (before food trucks were cool) and outdoor seating. You'll be greeted by only the kindest Brit's you've ever met. Depending on how busy they are, they can get the food to you pretty fast considering they are deep within the tourist section of San Fran. 10-15 minutes. The cod has a crispy batter, fluffy inside, and tender white flaky fish. Perfectly seasoned to consume straightaway. If you'd prefer, their tartar sauce is also amazing. (Can't speak for the malt vinegar as that's not my thing.) Ditto for the shrimp. Medium sized, flavorful, and you can't have one seafood without the other. The fries are also perfectly cooked to order. I'm so happy to see, that in 2026, they are holding a 4.4 stars with over 3,532 reviews. I can't wait to visit them again. One of the cleanest "fried" food places this side of the coast. Only one place completes with them directly in my book down in Ventura. Way to go!

My lower review was the food. My mom ordered fish n chips for 17.99 Clam chowder..no bread for 13.99. The clam chowder was disgusting. It was so watered down like water...a few potatoes...I saw no any clams...and no clam flavor at all...see my video. I make clam chowderfir my mom a few tines a year becauseshe loves it...I know what it should taste like. I tried my moms to see if she was over reacting...nope..it literally tasted like drinking warm milk..no flavor...disgusting and for 13.00 for maybe 8 oz...they should feel ashamed of themselves... My mom however loved her fish and chips. Fresh fish...batter light and crispy...good tartar sauce. I ordered the calamari and fish tacos. I loved the fish on my tacos..did not like the sauce. The smokey flavor was too much. It took over. I would order them again with no sauce...they give you a good size piece of fish on the tacos...and the fish is good. The calamari was good. Again the same sauce to dip made it where I do not want to eat it again. I dont like the Chipotle sauce...the smoke flavor is too powerful. A simple white crema would be much better. That is what I eat locally and keep ordering the tacos again and again. If I am in SF again..I would choose another place to eat. They have outdoor eating area. Flies and birds flying around. Covered tables which was nice since it was hot.

The tartar sauce, the tang of the peppers, the perfectly fried fish and the butter grilled buns made for the best fish sandwich EVER! There were 3-4 pieces of fish on the sandwich. In addition, very high chance of lines and minimal seating options at the place. Overall: 4.0/5 Service was quick and efficient. Food was out fast, but our group did not order any fried food, which I imagine would add to the wait time. Managed to snag a table but that also may be a bit of trouble depending on the time. In addition, no indoor seating so make sure to go on a nice day or be prepared to eat in typical sf Oceanside weather. I ordered the grilled fish of the day plate, which happened to be sole. Had a nice light flavor, which I found quite tasty. The rice was a little hard, and the beans lacked flavor. I also thought pico de gallo was a bit bland as well. However the pickled slaw was excellent. Crunchy, with a nice acidity that brightened everything up. Aoli was also pretty good. The fish tacos looked good but at $9 a taco with no sides, it was a little hard for me to justify the price even with high quality fish.

Very intimate seating. Ordered the crab cakes and fries as an appetizer. The crab cakes were great paired with an arugula salad. Fries were so good, I ordered two. The chowder was creamy and delicious. I love potatoes and it had the perfect amount. Huge fan of the chowder. Salmon tacos with flour tortillas and purple cabbage, YUM! The salmon so tender and juicy, perfection. I enjoyed how guilt free they tasted. The star of the meal was the lobster roll. I could cry happy tears. I haven't tasted a lobster roll this good since traveling to Boston. It was a 20/10. The roll was buttery and soft. There was a generous amount of lobster, so tasty. I would seriously come back for the lobster roll. You will not regret visiting this establishment. Don't miss out.

Both were fantastic. Ambiance: 3/5 - ambiance is just okay. It's right on the water so a nice view from the outdoor seating but nothing particularly outstanding about the restaurant itself in terms of decor or architecture. Service: 1.5/5 - huge miss. For the prices on this menu, I would expect service to be a lot better. We waited in line to be sat (no waiting list, just an old school line) and it took only 10 minutes or so to be sat but it was very bizarre, we were a party of 2 ready to be sat & she took the couple behind us and sat them first. No particular reasoning given. The host seemed to really not care about much. From there, service was odd. Our server didn't introduce herself and just asked us what we wanted. Again, not a necessity but you would think for somewhere you're paying $30+ per plate, service would be a bit better. An oyster holder was delivered to our table after we had already finished oysters. Glass was broken near our table and hastily swept up. Bussers were dropping silverware right next to our table. Again, just wasn't great ambiance or service. The food is good but there are other good restaurants in San Francisco. I would really only come here again with low service expectations.

I have to admit that my standards weren't high for this sandwich, but it genuinely tasted amazing. I have to say that it was probably one of the best sandwiches that I've ever had the opportunity to eat in all of California, and I'm unsure if I'll ever be able to encounter a sandwich that tops it. Overall, amazing. I'd happily come back here again during another SF trip, if I happen to be in the area.

A great fish market, too, for those who live in the area. My only knock is that the nearly all-community seating area is small and less than comfortable. Stop by and grab lunch to go!

The Fish & Chips are the best I've had in the city! Not greasy at all and simply delightful. They also have a solid selection of beers on tap; I enjoyed a Deschutes IPA and a Guinness. A lot of people were ordering Old Speckled Hen, which I want to try next time--I've never heard of that beer and it seems quite popular. The menu features all the hits of a British pub. I want to try their Shepherd's Pie next time, and my husband wants to get the bangers and mash. He was hoping they had a scotch egg, but that's the one item not on the menu. Oh, and some sticky toffee pudding would be awesome! The only downside was a large party of eight people with screaming children. We can't seem to escape that in restaurants lately--even in a pub. Ugh, it was terrible and sadly put a damper on an otherwise delightful experience. Chuck E. Cheese energy is not the vibe. Despite that, we will be back.

I'm currently living in San Francisco for six weeks while caring for my father, who is recovering from a double lung transplant at UCSF. It's been an emotionally exhausting time, and I was excited to find a neighborhood bar within walking distance where I could occasionally relax and decompress. I first discovered this bar after a trip to Trader Joe's. During that visit, the bartenders, especially Chris, and the rest of the staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive, and wonderful. Based on that experience, I was looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, my interactions with the owner have been the complete opposite. On my second visit, the owner repeatedly ignored me while I was trying to order. When he noticed my service dog, who was leashed, quietly sitting beside me, and causing absolutely no disruption, he loudly yelled across a crowded bar, "Get your dog out of here." I calmly explained that he is a service dog. The owner immediately rolled his eyes and demanded to know what service my dog provides. Because I did not feel comfortable disclosing personal medical information to a room full of strangers, I asked if I could privately show documentation instead. He became increasingly hostile, telling me that he "knew his rights" and that I "didn't know anything," while continuing to demand an explanation. Feeling embarrassed and cornered, I reluctantly answered his question. He rolled his eyes again and asked, "What do you want?" When I ordered a Corona, he responded by pointing his finger in my face and saying, "You mean you want a Corona PLEASE." He refused to serve me unless I repeated the order exactly as he demanded. I was shocked, humiliated, and left the bar in tears. Several patrons nearby apologized to me and expressed how uncomfortable they were witnessing the interaction. A few days later, I decided to give the bar a second chance and brought my partner with me. My partner was seated with my service dog while I walked to the bar to order. The owner immediately recognized me and once again said, "Get your dog out." I calmly reminded him that we had already had this conversation and that I had previously explained my dog's service role. He responded by asking whether I was providing a service to the dog or whether the dog was providing a service to me. After I again explained the situation, he asked what I wanted to order. I ordered two dirty gin martinis, and before I could even finish speaking, he began walking away. When he returned with the check, I asked him to keep the tab open. He again corrected me and said I needed to say, "Keep it open PLEASE." At that point, I asked why he seemed to treat me this way every time I came in. His response was, "Piss off. Finish your martini and you're never allowed back here again. Get out." Once again, I left in tears. Once again, nearby patrons appeared shocked by the way I was being treated. I've worked in professional environments my entire career and strive to treat everyone with kindness, patience, and respect. I was never rude, disruptive, or confrontational. I simply wanted to enjoy a drink at a neighborhood bar while accompanied by my service dog. The bartenders and staff were wonderful. My experience with the owner, however, was one of the most humiliating and hostile customer service experiences I have ever had.
