Soooo disappointed! This is the second time we ordered from here through DoorDash. The first time everything was great and we were excited to find a new place for BBQ! This time, I ordered a burger with cheese. We received the order and the burger was RAW. I am not exaggerating, see the picture. Unfortunately, I am not willing to risk getting sick. I contacted DoorDash hoping to get a replacement delivered and was only provided with a refund, so I decided to call The Hut directly. I called and they said they would make me another one, but I had to pick it up. I ordered through DoorDash for a reason and didn't want to go pick it up! Now I have no dinner and am super disappointed. I know things happen, but there was not much concern on their side and during these crazy times, I'm surprised. Ok what an amazing little find! The food is homemade and ridiculous! Like seriously good! Ren served us and was so attentive rive and helpful. The wings are INCREDIBLE!! This place has the best ribs... we're talking no-sauce-required (but of course it's there), melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Pulled pork sandwich was good, and their sides are great as well: fries, onion rings, cole slaw -- the Buffalo Cauliflower is very tasty! Can't wait to try more menu items, especially the tri-tip. I didn't like pickles for the longest time but the Hut has the best friend pickles and fries too but the fried pickles are amazing. Never had a fried pickle like theirs before but my life was changed for the better when I started going to the Hut. And while I'm here I may as well add that the bottomless mimosas prices went up and you know now it doesn't really seem worth it when there are so many better brunch spots in the area. Why am I eating Tri tip at 10:30am? Anyways there's a cool selection of beers if you're into that and the music. This is nothing like the old Hut! The food was pretty good, nice summer vibes on the patio, and the (pricey) beer was tasty. We had the pulled chicken sandwich, the pulled pork sandwich, and fries. The chicken was a little dry and not very flavorful. The bread was very good and the bbq sauce was... bbq sauce. Both sandwiches came with some pickle slices on the side. Altogether, the chicken sandwich was pretty good but missing some flavor. The pulled pork was more moist than the chicken, and the slaw actually made the sandwich come together. Fries are shoestring style and the seasoning was not too salty. All in all, not bad. Bbq sauce and ketchup are available in squeeze bottles. They could also use a house hot sauce to spice up the food a bit. I hope to try the wings and ribs next time! Pro tip: order a beer at the bar and then get in line for food. It's Back! The infamous HUT...a watering hole with sticky floors and dirty dollars tacked to the tacky ceiling closed...then it received an influx of attention by two couples/alum...with high intentions and not enough cash. Voila...more alum to the rescue with loftier goals...The Hut is no longer booze only...it is a great restaurant. Generations of Broncos have avoided and been drawn to the Hut. Yes, the floor used to be so filthy...shoes would stick to the floor. The legend that it was a SCU exclusive dive bar- not true...lotsa older guys/ locals would pop in for a drink...or two. Definitely a great addition to the SCU neighborhood. Most of the lunch options near campus are pretty dismal chain restaurants (Subway, Roundtable) or local joints that are stuck in the 70s (Hungry Hound). The Hut, by contrast, has great food in a modern setting. The BBQ is legit and the portions are generous. Decent beer list too. My only complaint is that they don't have their own soft drinks and charge a steep mark up on bottle ice tea, etc. On a different note, they really need to disentangle the reviews of the new Hut from the old Hut, which was about as disgusting as a college student bar can get! read more

When people are hurting for business, you guys should work extra hard to get orders right. Ordered two hamburgers. No chow chow, lettuce, pickle, tomato and cheddar on one and the other one with just cheddar, pickle, and lettuce. Get home and we both have a hamburger with cheese and pickles. The meat also was not seasoned properly, no salt or flavor. Come on guys! Fries and Onion rings were fine. If you want adults eating at your place, get it right. read more

I am ashamed to say that having been to SCU for four years of undergrad, I never stepped foot into this place until 4 years after I graduated. This is a dive bar. And by dive bar I mean the quintessential gritty, sticky, you're not really sure what's on your glass and cup kind of dive bar. I have seen dirty, and then there's the hut. One of the most interesting things about the hut, though, is that it is literally the closest drinking establishment to SCU that's open into the wee hours of the morning. Whether it's a Thursday and you've simply had enough, or a Monday when things are especially tough, the hut is here for you. I ... can't say that this is the best dive bar ever, but it's got heritage, and character, and probably thousands of SCU students that have come and gone. They have a patio area in the back that I didn't know about until recently. The college crowd tends to trickle in pretty late 11-12ish, at which point the dance floor gets pretty packed. Dive bar next to the SCU campus. Came here for an event that was being held for MBA students. This place opened up especially for us on a Sunday when they are usually closed, so that was cool of them to do. We were able to BBQ in the back and they had a couple of benches for people to sit on. A ton of people ended up showing up over the course of the day and the bartender was pretty much by himself all day so props to him for keeping up with everyone's orders! This place is good for what it is - you'll get inexpensive drinks and have a place to chill. Don't expect a lavish lounge, otherwise you'll be disappointed. read more

Dive bar is right. This may be a blasphemous thing to say as a current SCU Law student, but I'm not sure what the appeal of this place is, other than the proximity to campus. They have about eight beers on tap, but nothing special. Drinks are neither pricey nor cheap enough for my student budget. Also, they don't serve food, other than potato chips! Decor is nothing to write home about either, unless you consider dollar bills stapled to the walls and ceiling interior decorating. The only reason I come here is when other classmates congregate here. That, and you can walk here from the law school in about 3 minutes. Otherwise, I prefer to do my imbibing elsewhere. read more

I love this place. I've gone here a couple of times with a few classmates to down a couple shots at 4:55 p, knowing we have class at 5pm. It actually makes class just THAT much more interesting, believe it or not. The place is covered in business cards and $1 bills. I asked the bartender why and he said that when a SCU graduate finds a job, they come there to pin their business card and dollar bill. If they get fired, they can take it down as a means to help them with unemployment. lol, I think that is awesome! The bartender is nice and the people here are friendly. I don't find much of a reason to come here, unless you are an SCU student and are of close proximity to the place. It's quite small inside, fits about 50 people uncomfortably, and as everyone mentions, there isn't much decor other than the dollar bills and business cards tacked onto the roof posted by SCU alumni that have found jobs. If they for some reason, lose their job, they will then, remove the dollar bill and fend for themselves. I'm not exactly sure if drinks are cheap...Service here is pretty friendly and the people will recommend chasers and drinks and stuff too which is coool. I didn't smell any piss like people keep mentioning, but maybe I came on a good day...Also, parking is on the street, unless you are an SCU student and have a E permit..there is a E parking lot close by to park in. The good: the place has been completely remodeled with a nice outdoor area and attractive bar. If want a beer or a drink, try this place. The bad: the bbq. Let's be honest - no one comes to Northern California for the bbq. And the fact so many reviewers think this is good bbq tells you even more about the dearth of good smoked meat in the area. Excellent ribs should have meat so tender it is falling off the bone. Both the ribs and tri-tip at the Hut suffer from the same fate; they are chewy. What does chewy meat mean? It has not been cooked properly to actually qualify as outstanding bbq. Low and slow are the two basic tenants of great bbq. This is bbq done by people who have not actually had good bbq. If you are passionate about bbq, you must go where it's best and learn. Go to Franklin's or a host of other good places in and around Austin, TX. Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. Smoque in Chicago. Joe's in KC. These folks have not done their homework, thus they serve chewy meat. If you want to get a bite here, stick with a hamburger or salad. Stick with something that does not take particular expertise to cook and you'll be just fine. If this was my place I'd take the bbq off the menu until I learned to do it properly. read more

Anthony is the best bartender in all the land! Aside from that, this is your typical college watering hole. You will find dollar bills and business cards from alumni, students, and friends littering the ceiling in honor of jobs and making some hard earned money. The drinks are great, they have a table for beer pong, and dice for, well, dice! Come in, sit down, grab a drink, and enjoy.
