My parents and I are huge lobster fans, but my darling husband is not. Now that we are away from family, it is my patriotic duty to defend my husband from lobster at all costs, and eat as much of it as possible. This is how we found The Knack. I ordered the lobster roll and darling hubby ordered the fish sando with a beer. The guy behind the counter was friendly and prompt, and our food came out super fast. We took a seat in the semi-covered patio, and were excited to dive into our first cape cod lunch. OH MY GOOD GRACIOUS. This was possibly the best lobster roll I've ever eaten. My husband had a hilarious time watching me ooh and aah over each bite, and laughed once I looked sadly at my eventually empty plate. I consider this perfectly sweet, crisp, clean, and lightly dressed roll to be the pinnacle of what other lobster rolls wish they could grow up to be someday. Hubby's fish sandwich was good, he thought it was light and flavorful with a solid tartar sauce (not sweet, ew). The beer went perfectly with our seafood entrees, and was refreshing despite the wind and rain. After a day at the beach I was looking for a spot to stop by before heading back to Boston. I came across this place which was slightly out of the way but so happy I stopped! I got a lobster roll and it was fairly priced (compared to in the city) It was pretty good and I prefer cold lobster rolls over hot lobster rolls. It had a nice toasted and buttered bun. The start of the show was the onion rings tho. Perfectly golden, fried, and crispy. With a squeeze of lemon, it was delish! Love them together and it was such a filling meal. Got a couple of lobster rolls a a veggie taco last night for 3 of us. Very good quality. Lobster rolls could have been the best I've had. But . . . They were small. Hubby and I each had one and split a side of cole slaw and were still pretty hungry. When we picked it up they had put two -at $18 each - into on container. I can see why. A total must! My husband and I hit The Knack at least once (read: usually two-three times in a long weekend) whenever we visit my parents' Cape house. They really have something for everyone here, whether you're vegetarian, pescetarian, or jonesing for a perfectly cooked burger or hot dog! They have the most incredible veggie tacos that are filled with the ripest avocado (seriously, how do they source them and ensure they're always perfect?! Teach me your ways!), in addition the burgers and hot dogs, which are cooked perfectly, and amazing lobster rolls that are filled with delicious lobster with a really light mayo so it doesn't feel heavy... I think at this point, we've ordered everything at least once and keep coming back for more! Also, do not sleep on the onion rings - I dream about these during off-season when the Orleans Knack is closed, so am elated that there's now a second location in Hyannis (we haven't been there yet). Last summer we started putting to-go orders in via the Toast app, which was a nice timesaver when we were in more of a rush, but also really enjoy grabbing a seat there (especially because we can bring our dog) and hanging out for a bit. This was my second time here for lunch and again they exceeded my expectations. It was a gorgeous day out so perfect to sit outside and enjoy. You order from the window and pick up at the window. The staff is very friendly and the food comes out quickly with tons of flavor! I had the fish tacos which I highly recommend. The Haddock is very lightly fried (I don't like fried food so was wary) it comes with a wonderful slaw and a slice of lime. I added onion rings to my order - the portion of rings is huge so great for sharing. The rings are skinny, not the thick chunky ones you find at fast food places. Patty seasoned really well, great crust, perfect amount of veggies and condiments. Fries and rings perfect. The sauce with the tenders has a great kick from the horseradish. Something different than the usual honey mustard. If I lived near here, I'd probably resemble a large farm animal bc I wouldn't be able to control the amount of times I'd be eating here. After learning that majority of the touristy restaurants in the Cape is closed for the season, we found the knack and could not be happier. It was right on route 6A and was easy to find. The parking was easy and spacious. We initially ordered lobster roll, fried fish roll, whole clam belly roll, chicken tenders, and onion rings (for 3 adults). Then we saw chocolate milk shake and it looked so good and ended up ordering chocolate and strawberry shakes. Strawberry milk shake was AMAZING. It was not too sweet. It was not too creamy or heavy. It was just perfect. Chocolate shake was really good too but I liked strawberry better. Food was very fresh and everything exceeded my expectation. Their frying oil must be really good quality and clean because the fried items were superb. Their chicken tenders, in particular, was THE BEST chicken tenders I have ever tasted and I have eaten so many chicken tenders in my life. Sweet horseradish sauce that comes with complemented the chicken tenders very well. It was so good that I had to go back and get more chicken tenders. I was worried that it would be too cold since they do not have any indoor seating so I initially placed the order to-go but their outdoor dining area was pretty well-covered and had many heaters on the ceiling so it was comfortable. I could tell that this place is very well-managed and super clean -- the employees constantly checked on and cleaned the tables and cleared the trays. Everyone was friendly and nice. The Knack is a cute outdoor restaurant with lobster rolls, hot dogs and hamburgers. They put up tents outdoors, so that we were still warm on this windy day. I think it is pet friendly (I saw a dog outside the tent) so it might be a good place to bring your furry friend. I ordered a lobster roll. I wish it came with chips, but it didn't. You can order onion rings or fries on the side though! They also have soft serve- perfect for a hot sunny day. If you are trying to be healthy, you can get a gluten free roll for an extra $1.50. The food is locally sourced - the meat comes from Nauset farms in Orleans MA, the seafood comes from Hyannis while the produce comes from various farms in cape Cod.
