I am a huge fan. We were here for a couple nights this winter. The Langham Chicago has probably the nicest and most helpful staff of any hotel we've stayed in recently. I felt welcome upon arrival. Our suite was well-appointed with tremendous river views. Luxurious bathrooms, in room espresso maker, and the room decor was unique yet comfortable. I wanted to move in and stay awhile. We did order breakfast from room service and it arrived in a timely manner, was still really warm, and tasty. My only regret is we didn't try the afternoon tea. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago. read more

Stayed here once, loved it. Chic rooms & my toddler son loved the whirlpool bath tub. Everything was very clean & I was especially impressed with how sweet they were to my son. This is a fairly sexy boutique hotel, so I'm not sure how often they get guests with small children, but you would have thought it was DESIGNED for families based on how they responded to him. We also had a sweet view. Didn't get to check out any of the amenities outside of the room but I will be returning with some girlfriends on the eve of Black Friday (gotta be close to all the shopping!!). Stunning is the first word that came to mind upon my first few steps inside this glamorous gem. I am familiar with the Langham brand, with their seemless attention to detail and impeccable service. Last night, however, I was able to experience the Langham for a work related event and in addition to the pure opulence that is the hotel itself, the staff reminded me why the Langham has such a respected reputation. Our cocktail hour was on the third floor, the same floor as the Devonshire Room, and we were graced by a pristine view of the river. Our bartender was friendly and prompt. The hors d'oeuvres were exquisite, my personal favorite was the empenada. Doors opened a few minutes before dinner was to be served and the room was dimly lit with large windows overlooking the river. It made for a lovely dinner environment. Our servers were attentive to everyone. The Langham clearly takes their time in reinforcing how important it is to make a guest feel completely taken care of and it goes a very long way . The filet was mouthwatering and the halibut was cooked to perfection (a co-worker and I split ours as we each wanted a little bit of what the other ordered). I cannot say enough about how delicious our food was, including the desert. Overall, I was not surprised by the Langham as I knew they would put their most impressive foot foward, as they always do, in ensuring our office anniversary party was a hit. I am lucky enough to live just a few short blocks away from this oustanding hotel, institution really, and I cannot wait to return for high tea with my mom and sister. I've stayed here on a whim. The lobby reminds me of Hong Kong style resort/casinos boasting flamboyant chandeliers & ceiling decor. We spent around $380 for a nights stay. This is absolutely top notch luxurious. Exceptionally clean and spacious. I'd be lucky to call this home. The hotel bar is very casual & wasn't too busy on a Saturday night. Definitely recommend this location to those who can afford to stay here. You'll be steps away from all the best restaurants River North has to offer. read more

LOVE This Hotel! There are a few nice hotels in Chicago but Langham's customer service surpasses all the rest! They have gained a loyal customer. I called the front desk to inquire if they sold the provided lotion and body wash in the gift shop. I was transferred to the spa and the nice gal told me they did not but she will give me bottles to take home. 20 minutes later, she hand delivered a gift bag full of goodies along with a personalized note. My review is solely for the Afternoon Tea. The Langham hotel was amazing! I am big fan of tea and finger items. I was excited to hear my friends at work wanted to try an afternoon tea place. I made reservations for 3 three weeks prior. The lady on the phone was not the most friendliness person at the moment but I understand everyone has their off-days. I will let it go only because the second female host (whom called the day before reservations to confirm) was the nicest person in the world! If I could remember her name, I would definitely write it down right now. She ensured me that even though women usually do-it up for tea time but the attire was completely casual. Considering how hot the day my friends and i were going, thank goodness she did say that to me! I ended up not the want to be dressy. The decor of the Pavilion was modern with white and grey accents. Very mellow and calming. Nothing screamed at your face which is sometimes a good thing especially when you are going out with friends for relaxing afternoon tea experience. The decor gets 5 stars. The savory meal was good with different tastes but it was not worth the money. My favorite was the fresh watermelon finger sandwich. The only item on the savory dish that I felt did a wonderful job mixing sweet and salty. I could careless about the rest of the items since nothing really popped. THE SCONES ARE TO DIE FOR! The blueberry scone was my all-time favorite with the slightly sweetened honey butter and blueberry jam. If they could just gave me the trays of scones and tea, I would have been happy. Nothing in the sweet dish was good. The strawberry shortcake was sour and quite annoying with all small they diced the strawberries. I couldn't pick any of it up. The chocolate cake tasted like frosting. The peach-whatever tasted canned. The pink & yellow macaron was pure sugar. I've had better macarons. The service was nice and the staff was friendly. The waitress took the time to give her opinion and explain everything. The lady that refilled our tea kettle was the nicest lady ever! She was very attentive making sure our tea wasn't cold. Sadly, I don't remember the tea flavor I ordered. I asked for black tea and went with what the waitress suggested would compliment the food items which she was on point. If I could give zero I would. I called twice every day for a week and a half to book a spa package for my fiancées birthday, left 3 voicemails, and 2 emails and NO RESPONSE!!! Keeping this brief. The Langham is stunning, service is lovely. The bathroom in our suite alone is 5 stars. Here's where we lost the star. We upgraded to club level having read reviews of the service online that made it sound positively magical. Magical! And as we said yes, I wondered to myself, "how do they scale that kind of magic?" In short, they don't. At the club level, they offer the celebrated Langham pink taxi as a perk. Asked two different staff members how we go about using it, and were told it was first come, first served. Perfect. However, when arriving downstairs in hope of accessing this delight, we were told that it doesn't run in winter. Absolutely appropriate response, but it would help to communicate this to other employees. Online, we saw photos of a lavish sushi display at the club level and would have signed up on that alone. When I asked our Butler when we might enjoy this also, he shared with me that they haven't offered sushi since the opening of the hotel and had made efforts to remove all mentions of it. Oh Internet, why must you have such a great memory? Jordan who made our son's sofa bed into a plush luxury item and recommended his favorite deep dish pizza joint which delivers to the hotel gets 5 stars. It's wonderful, beautiful, and if you choose this experience based on reviews you find online, know that your stay will be what it is, and not what it was for anyone else in the past. This review is for the Afternoon Tea I had at The Langham (Pavilion). I have to say I had a wonderful tea experience! The servers were very nice and attentive. The tea was great! (I had the langham blend) which the server recommended. Then the savories which contained a tart with ricotta and fig, a tuna sandwich and two other savories that were just as good. This hotel may be in the shadow of Trump Tower, but it's service, people and amenities shine above it's neighbor. The rooms are ridiculous, they have an old fashion bar-trunk in the room that immediately pokes your curiosity, followed by the very relaxing soaking tub and rain shower. The surround sound in the bathroom allows you to listen to the t.v or music while getting ready for a night out. The club level at the hotel is like having your own butler service, noting sounds better to hear "how may i help you" from the service. We ordered room service and had a late breakfast and the food was far from average. Everyone, the bellhop, maid service, managers, servers, spa personal, bartenders, bar service, room service and the butler service are all friendly and reliable. If you have kids and really need to unplug and pamper yourself or wifey, then stay at the Langham...you will not regret it! read more

This hotel is pure royalty... What an amazing experience! All of the hotel employees were very accommodating and made sure to complete all of my family and I's requests. We stayed on the club level and had access to the lounge. The food and drinks were incredible and they have a great variety as well. They greeted us every time we entered by our names and we had the pleasure of getting to know Paul who worked in the club lounge. He had recently began working for The Langham and was such a pleasure to talk with. He couldn't have been more accommodating and his joyful personalty was inviting. By far one of the nicest hotels at which I have ever had the pleasure of staying - and I have been fortunate enough to stay in some of the best. We spent the weekend in a suite on the 9th floor of the hotel and were absolutely pampered by the staff. Be sure and get room service breakfast and the Eggs Benedict when you stay there...the holladaise sauce is apparently made fresh every 2 hours and was the best I have ever had. Bedding, pillows and sheets were top quality luxury. You could swim laps in the bathtub and the soap/lotion/shampoo products were terrific. I read a few other reviews and was surprised to hear that some people found the rooms a little banged up because ours was pristine. And it was very quiet on the 9th floor even though we were near the elevators. One night during our stay I was unable to find my cell phone charger and Ollie in housekeeping brought me one as a gift from the hotel. So sweet! Truly extraordinary experience!!! read more

The number of stars pertain to the level of service, not the accommodations. We stayed in a junior suite that felt spacious and well-appointed. Everything from the bathroom tile to the light switches (even the notepaper on the desk) is of the highest quality. My daughter, wife, and I felt very comfortable in our room. What ruined the stay for us, however, was the shockingly inattentive and unwelcoming service from the staff downstairs. The bellhops, valet attendants, and check-in staff were at best perfunctory in their service. We did not feel welcome. The same valet attendant greeted us each evening upon our return and not only did he not remember us or even have the basic courtesy to greet us with warmth, but he made a big deal each time about whether or not we were actually guests at the hotel. The third evening, he opened my wife's door and asked (for the third time) if we were checking in. My wife responded that no, we in fact had checked in two nights ago and he was the one who had valeted our vehicle the day we checked in and every evening since. At the Four Seasons and other high-end hotels, they make a point to remember your name or at least remember that they've seen your face before; they make a point to inquire about your day--these little touches make a difference, and were completely lacking at The Langham. The desk staff was equally as indifferent. They make a fuss about presenting you with your check-in and check-out materials on a leather portfolio, as if that somehow makes the experience more special, but you may as well be checking in to a motel. We stay at high-end hotels and expect the level of service that usually comes with that price tag--The Langham Chicago leaves much to be desired in terms of service. If you're expecting Four Seasons kind of service, you will not find it here. read more

I was here yesterday. The price was 88 dollars for food, tea, tax and gratitude. Our waiter was annoyed by the fact that we have 3 more people coming than what was in the reservation. When they were running late, he said the kitchen might not have enough food. To be honest, I have no interest in knowing how your kitchen was operating. when he added a table for our additional guest, he forgot to bring butter and jam tray. Food was okay but not great. For the price that I was paying, I expect better service. read more

I came for lunch a few Wednesdays ago with a work group around 2:30. After closing a big deal, we had scheduled a fun lunch to splurge and the Langham delivered. They even had menus printed up with our company name and the name of the deal we closed - this with two hours notice! We had a choice of chicken or steak entrees, and several appetizers for the table, including grilled octopus, spare ribs, and flatbread pizza. Everything was super tasty. My favorite was the chicken and squash entree I had. The chicken was super tender and flavorful and precut in easy to eat strips. Loved it. I normally don't order chicken at fancy restaurants, but maybe that is a mistake. The flatbread with mushrooms was also amazing. Overall I am in love with both the luxurious atmosphere of the dining room and bar here and the food. This is my new favorite spot. read more

Top notch service, at one would expect of a hotel of this price/quality. Had room service for breakfast every morning. They will provide an estimate of how long it may take to arrive, which is nice. Saturday was 20 minutes which was almost too quick and then SUnday was an hour (I'm assuming the hotel filled up). Chilequiles are amazing and the kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes. Pool is clean and somewhat warm, pool toys and noodles were put out on Sunday. Our time in the cinema was a highlight but I recommend reserving ahead of time. We inquired after arriving and only had a couple of time slots to choose from. We went to a wedding last weekend and found it totally amazing! The ceremony was elegant with white fresh flowers everywhere. The lighting was romantic and the setting was intimate. Cocktails started at 6:30 and we had the most amazing appetizers: Crab cakes A savory panna cotta with caviar Mushroom crostini When dinner was served, the 4 wait staff approached each table of 8 and synchronized the placement each plate in front of each guest. I have stayed in a lot of hotels, and a fair number of 5 star hotels, in a variety of places, and the Langham certainly is at the top of my list so far. I was greeted immediately when I came in, and advised to go to the Club level to check in. I hopped on the elevator and was met by the butler team who checked me in, gave me a glass of water, and basically made me feel like a rock star. The rooms are amazing. Just amazing. Every detail is covered, down to having a seated vanity area with a lighted make up mirror, slippers and robes in the closet, various lighting choices in the room, a privacy screen in the shower, outlets just where you need them, and an amazingly comfortable bed. I also applaud anyone who designs a hotel with the toilet and shower in separate places. The gym is also fantastic, although I wished they open at 5:00am. Great spa facilities. The staff is outstanding. There is not doubt that they are here to make your stay comfortable and complete. Location is desirable, in my opinion. You are so close to downtown, and just a short cab ride from Shedd, Soldier Field, etc. I will definitely be coming back with my husband to enjoy a romantic weekend away in sunny downtown Chicago. In most ways, this hotel is a fabulous one. It is well appointed, amazingly designed, beautiful, clean, safe, modern, and the service is mostly amazing. Our room was stunning, and well serviced twice daily, by a detail oriented staff. The hotel has an extraordinary spa, fitness center, and even a very well appointed kids play suite. However, for a five star hotel, it is the little details that matter, the anticipation of a guests' needs, and meticulous and prompt attention to detail. These elements are truly the making of a five star hotel, and the characteristics above simply provide a sound foundation. On this front this hotel is utterly disappointing, and perhaps I am used to other Langham properties where the types of misses the Langham Chicago had with our stay would be unheard of, and even if they occurred, would be corrected in such extraordinary ways, that I would have no cause for disappointment. However, in this case, I haven't even heard from the property about them yet. When I stay at a five star hotel, I make it a point to email them before my stay with the purpose of my stay, any special needs I have, any privileges that come with my elite status that I would like to avail of (such as late check out), so they are well prepared and informed, and let me know if something cannot be fulfilled so I can either make other arrangements or stay at a different property instead. Despite emailing them a couple of times a couple of days before my arrival, I did not hear back, in fact, I haven't yet heard back. In 2017 even Hampton Inn properties respond to customer emails within a couple of hours, so this is a particular embarrassment to the Langham Chicago. The other issue that occurred was even more deeply disappointing and certainly a reason I would be hesitant to ever return to this property again, and coupled with the first, tells me that this hotel is an amazing property that is simply led by a team that is not fit to lead a five star property, and certainly not one bearing the Langham brand. I hit the button on my phone for private service with two requests, one to have my folio emailed to me, and the other to send a bellman up to have my luggage brought down so we could depart for our flight. I received the folio in about 3 minutes after the call. After waiting a half hour my wife decided to take our one year old down so he could run around rather than wait in his stroller. She just happened to run into the bell staff who asked if she needed a car, and mentioned that we were still waiting to have our bags brought down, at which point the belman stated that nobody had called them to send a bellman to our room and rushed up and got my bags. He was extremely apologetic, and we did fortuitously make our flight on time. However, this is not the sort of miss I'd expect at the Langham. And when it has happened once in my dozens of stays at the Amazing Langham New York, I had the assistant manager personally come and apologize, arrange for the hotel Car to take me to the airport, and ride himself and come into the airport himself to ensure we made our flight. I received an email from the General Manager the next day who invited me to come back and stay again at the hotel's expense and even provided me an apartment suite for my complimentary stay. This is the bar I have come to expect from the Langham brand, which is why I am so utterly disappointed in the Langham Chicago. At the time of writing this review, I have yet to hear from the hotel management, or worse yet get a response to my email from before my arrival. read more

I have been to many Chicago hotels for business meetings, The Langham is by far THE BEST! Pricey, yes but you get what you pay for in Chicago. My wife and I have stayed at The Langham every year since it has opened for our anniversary and we have never been disappointed. And we have already booked a room for 2016! This hotel has made us Langham customers for life. It was Amahhhhhhzing!!! So beautiful, so luxe, and service was ridiculous! I loved everything: the rooms- spacious, beautiful, everything you need with the BEST bathrooms. Great view from our room of the river. Room service- great food/drinks with 5 star service. Bar- again service was wonderful and drinks were perfect. Spa- loved the traditional Chinese medicine massage and my therapist was so nice! The locker rooms snd pool are so well appointed. The only small quibbles I had were very minor- the bed is very firm (we usually sleep on foam) and my facial actually seemed to dry my skin, not hydrate it. Overall it was truly first class and we already changed our hotel in NYC to the Langham for our next trip. Seriously- stay here, worth every penny!!!!!! read more

Best hotel experience Ive ever had! Im immediately greeted at the door and escorted to the elevator. The concierge is waiting for me and brings me to check in where I speak to some of the nicest people. The room is simply amazing! Everything luxurious from top to bottom. I went here for high tea at the Pavilion. My group had rented out the whole area and it was an absolutely beautiful space. The service was impeccable and both the peach tea and the Langham tea were delicious. The little finger foods that was served with the tea were interesting, but also very tasty. I really enjoyed the olive sandwich and the white fish smear. I had never been to high tea, so at first a felt a little awkward, but in the end it was great and we all had fun.
