Only ONE small thing prevented this from being a 5 Star rating. My wife specifically asked about whether the sandwich she was ordering had pickles on it or if the pickle were served on the side. She does NOT eat pickles and was told by our wait person that the sandwich did not contain pickles. BIG Surprise when she on her FIRST Bite tasted pickle. NOT a good experience. I cannot believe that we didn't find this restaurant in our previous visits. This place specializes in sandwiches for lunch accompanied by a soup if you wish. I ordered the Roast Beef au jus and didn't get the soup and I'm glad. I hate to waste food and there was no way to finish the sandwich. It was served on traditional french baguette and the roast beef was perfectly rare. The au jus served had onions floating in it, yumm. I was only able to complete half. The coffee that accompanied it tasted fresh roasted and was a tasteful delight. My husband had the corned beef sandwich, it was three times the size of mine served on dark rye. I cannot speak to how it tasted by if the look on his face was any indication it was awesome and unlike me, he finished every bite. The service was a bit slow but I think for Sunday after church it would be normal. Our wait at noon was only a couple of minutes. I was in Fenton visiting family and had it on good authority from a fellow Yelper that The Laundry was the place to try. Going off and trying a new place can be scary but that's what we do and this one was a home run in every category. The menu selection and specials all looked wonderful and the wine,beer,liquor and non alcoholic beverage selection was creatively done. The server was friendly and ready to help us through the meal from start to finish. He always had a smile even though he was a busy man the entire time with our table and others as well. The setting and design of The Laundry was very well done and the front dining was filled with natural light while the back dining area was darker and had more quite/relaxing surroundings with dark wood and creative designs. The place is very eclectic and has a great 50s vibe. The staff is great and overall has an excellent menu with many different items. Something for everyone. I came with friends and they are regulars. I thought I may have caught them on a bad day as two out three dishes had way too much salt. The dessert was great. Four berry pie with cinnamon ice cream. No stars if possible . We've been waiting weeks for a response. We have emailed Paige and her response was I'll let you know.... We used the Laundry for our daughter's rehearsal dinner. Paige is the associate we felt with. Very disappointing. Paige seemed nice but did not communicate well. We were shown the bar menu and were charged an exorbitant amount for bottles of wine. 31 adults and we supposedly drank 10 bottles of wine, 27 old fashions, 49 beer, and multiple other drinks when at least 5 people don't drink. We were also supposed to get any opened bottles of wine and none were offered. We told her our dinner requests and two of the three were correct. We requested the Coq au Vin and our guests were served plain chicken. We requested high chairs during the planning more than once and had to request them again as guests were arriving. Every time I talked to her it was like she was some where else. We told her what we wanted on the chalkboard sign and it was also wrong. This dinner cost us more than $150.00 a person. Not worth it. Would I do it again? No. This was the most disappointing part of our wedding weekend. read more

I am not big on drinks too sweet but this had the perfect amount of sweet and subtle. Although I loved my drink, the food here is king. We started with the fried calamari and spinach dip. You can tell both are homemade. Most places you go to these items are frozen and heated. I could tell the calamari was fresh and marinara made in house. The spinach dip had so much flavor. My cousin got the salmon and I gotta say for someone like me who thinks salmon is just ok, that salmon was amazing. It like melted in your mouth and had this butteriness to it. My cousin said it was the best she ever had and she gets salmon everywhere. I tried the appealing scallop risotto and it was everything I could have imagined and more! It was honestly probably the BEST DISH I'VE EVER HAD! The risotto had so much flavor. And the scallops were cooked to perfection. I was happy I had left overs because I wanted to have it again! My daughter and I wanted to share the croque-monsieur and the Brie and bacon pancakes, so they made us two smaller orders of pancakes and two plates for the sandwiches. I recommend getting the cinnamon roll grilled. The donut was supposed to come with the breakfast special, but the server secured one for us. The food was fresh and made to order. The breakfast/ lunch menus are my favorite. I usually don't come for dinner. My only complaint is the 3% added to credit card usage. As we are trying to become a paperless society, I rarely carry around enough cash to cover a meal for a family of four. The red haired woman at the front was very abrupt and definitely not gracious to my friend and I on our first visit. She seemed upset we wanted to dine there with no reservations. As we both live far away and came after golf we had no idea. Well 30 minute wait and we were called table was ready. As I'm 65 and it was 94 degrees out I asked if we could please eat inside and was haughtily informed those were for people with reservations. When the young lady who was seating us asked for clarification Red spoke very rudely to her. As she was walking us outside she walked through door without holding it open. So the patio is pretty noisy with the traffic. Our server was good but I never got lemon I asked for twice. Gave this place 3 stars as our server was good and we both loved the potato salad. Got that as they were out of the bread I wanted on a sandwich that looked good. Will try Fenton Firehall next as they may treat employees and guests better. The first person you talk to in a restaurant really sets the tone. After we ate I went inside to use restroom and the small dining room there had 7 empty tables. Apparently the brewmeister quit during covid and they have not been able to replace him. So they aren't brewing their own beer any more. Have no fear though, they have a wide variety of Michigan beers on tap. They also had an interesting cocktail menu. As the bartender was explaining some of the drink options she allowed us to taste this unique liquor. It was Korean, I believe. We liked the interesting flavor so she made me a sample of one of their specialty drinks that are not available until Christmas time. "The Bad Santa"...it was beautiful and flavorful. She made him a whiskey drink of some sort. The naughty something. It was also good but tasted a bit of black licorice. I then enjoyed a nice stout while he had a diet coke. He was driving so being responsible. The decor was interesting. Reminded me of tables and chairs from the 7Os or 80s. This is a local gem and it should stay that way for a reason. It has a great vibe here cool decor lots of seating with a bigger space next door that can be rented out for events. It's very cozy and conveniently it's one of the only breakfast places in Fenton. Everyone here was super friendly and provided great service. The issue is the food sucks. The menu seems normal but it is far from it. Their specialty coffees were super sugary lattes that were too sweet to enjoy. The Farmer's skillet is nothing like you'd imagine a breakfast skillet to be. When it came out, I had no words for what was in front of me. It was over easy eggs on top of cornbread with a couple tiny sausage patties on top of that. The Croque Madam ($20) was a dry ham sandwich with tons of melted cheese on top and eggs on the side. No sauce. Thankfully I wasn't the one who ordered it because after trying one bite I had to put the fork down. There was no good flavor to anything. Aged Asiago, Italian pesto, roasted red peppers, marinated artichoke hearts, and sauteed onions on grilled Zingerman's Parmesan pepper bread. Are you drooling yet? The price matches the size of the sandwiches with prices ranging from $8.25 (Veggies in a Blanket)- $10.75 (The Floydian Slip). They have a large selection of salads too. She was on time for everything, was very friendly and gave us a great recommendation on the appetizer (we went with the Gorg Dip). My wife got the bravas salmon and I got the BBQ osso buco. Both were PERFECT. The kale and polenta that accompanied the osso buco were insane! My wife's salmon was excellent as well as the accompaniments. Highly recommend this place for any occasion. Located in quaint and charming downtown Fenton, The Laundry is an eclectically-decorated restaurant with a menu of eclectically-named items. It is spacious and airy with sunlight streaming from a wall of windows, highlighting mismatched, diner-style retro chairs and tables. Colorful posters announced fun drinks and specials available from the bar. Sandwiches bear curious names like: They Call Him J.L. or Chicks Dig Scrawny Pale Guys, prompting questions of "why"? Of course, when I saw a sandwich called 3895 Boulevard St. Laurent, Montreal, I had a hunch that it might be one of the famed Montreal delis that serve smoked meat. A quick search later and yes, it is the address for Schwartz's. One mystery solved. Instead of smoked meat though, The Laundry creates its sandwich with 8oz of corned beef and pastrami, serving it with Emmentaler cheese and coleslaw on grilled rye. The generously-sized portion meant enough for both lunch and dinner. The accompanying garlic pickle was large, crunchy and flavorful. Service was friendly and gracious. I had ordered a Strawberry Dreamsicle but when I found it to be entirely too sweet, the server removed it from the bill without my having to ask. During the summer, you can dine outside but be warned, tables fill up quickly. Really cool place in Fenton with an excellent menu. Herbivore? Carnivore? Yelpivore? It doesn't matter... there's something for everyone here. The salads are ridiculously large send delicious. Lover of corn beef? Then you'll love the lunch sandwich. It's a little pricier than your average Applebees but definitely worth the cost. They also have great desserts and fancy named drinks that are fantastic. So why did I give them a 4 instead of a 5? There's no accessible parking anywhere around. The bathrooms are accessible but you have to fight with the kitchen staff to get around to the bathroom. The door is at the front of the kitchen door. There is another bathroom by the to go register but you have to navigate through all of the table and hope people move out of your way. read more
