I had been here once 20 years ago and still remembered the awesome pie and sandwich, I was going to be in the area with my husband and I knew I had to look them up and I'm glad I did. The food and service were excellent. We got some of their signature cocktails and cheese board, favorite item from it was sage dusted almonds. Shared the wild mushroom carbonara, I had seen a picture online and it looked delicious and it didn't disappoint. The Laundry is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Michigan. Arrived for dinner and were sat immediately. Our server for the evening was McKenna. She was phenomenal! She carefully walked us through the cocktail menu and specials as well as giving her recommendations on the food. She was very engaging and upbeat. The Laundry has a unique vibe. You have to just go and experience the eclectic decor and have fun with it. The food! THE FOOD!! My absolute favorite item on the menu is the Aglio e Aioli. This pasta dish will bring you to your knees. Every ingredient shows itself in this dish and it's a grand symphony of flavors. Paired this with a small chopped salad and had the perfect meal. Beware that the portion is massive. You will be taking some home to fully enjoy again the next day. Still love this place! Haven't been in a while but stopped in and tried the new cinnamon roll pancakes (or at least new to me) and they were delicious! Generous portion. I added two eggs for $3.50. The service was great too. We sat at 10:30am on a Saturday with no problem. It's a little but pricier than other options in the area but I would argue it's worth it. Service is the MOST important thing to me I appreciate feeling welcomed in the establishment I'm in. Here was all smile and welcoming spirits. The FOOD... OH THE FOOD!!!!¡!!!! My husband and I decided we would order 2 different items a piece from the menu. I opted for the pancetta and muenster cheese stuffed pancakes that had a peach and pablano compote on top. This was the best thing I've ever experienced in my 45 yrs of life. The pancetta is like salty bacon clouds bursting in ur mouth the mild funky flavors from the cheese along with the sweetness from the peach and pablano compote this is 5 star all by itself and we'll worth the hr and six minute drive from my house. The steak & eggs were really good as well. My husband said the Otis toast was the star for him but he really enjoyed the pork shoulder hash as well. They have an really good drink menu as well but we opt for the strawberry lemonade also VERY GOOD AND WORTH THR TRIP!!¡!!. Food was definitely five star! I ordered a salad that was a special and loved the quality of the fruit that was on it - huge blueberries and plump-ish dried cranberries. Hubby got a sandwich that had thick grilled bread..,I can't recall what meat was on it but I heard several "yum" while he was eating it. The downfall - restrooms!! Overall, the dining room and cafe area share two toilets. There is always a line during peak lunch period such as when we were there. Plus the placements of the toilets is a germaphobe's nightmare. One is right next to the kitchen expo area. The other is on the cafe side - you wait in line next to open baked goods...who knows who is breathing on these while in line and who knows what germs are airborne from the restroom when that door opens. While the food is incredible, the poor restroom placement and waiting to get into restroom will thwart us coming back. read more

One of the worst waiter experiences I've had. A simple question with no one in the restaurant except our family to turn the music down just a bit so my mom could enjoy time with her sons and here. The waiter emphatically said this was out of their control. We asked them to ask the manager nicely and they never came back with a response. We have to remember that the front line to your business is your customer facing employees. This is the second time I've come and visited here and taking my mom. As a local, I've been to the Laundry many times . Last night was one of my favorite visits. We ate outside and the flowers looked amazing. Our waiter was so great! I wish i could remember his name , he said he worked there five years ( reddish hair). He was so detailed on everything and really took care of us . The vibes of this place are so lively and very nice, this was my second time going but first time going for dinner. My food was alright but i was frustrated with the service because i was dining with a dairy free friend and we made it very clear very obvious from the beginning she was and when we ordered we were told what she had ordered was dairy free and not until 20 mins after we ordered did she return and tell us that was not something she could have. And so we placed another order and all of our food than took another 20 mins to come. I understand not knowing every dietary restriction on your menu but if you don't know ask and let us know right away because we would've ordered that to begin with and there solution for her was a dessert on the house none of their desserts were dairy free :( read more

This was a bit of a "destination" dinner as it is not on any part of my normal beaten path. This place is definitely busy and even going at 4ish on a Saturday afternoon has a 30 minute wait time. (But don't worry you can stroll around and they will text you when your table is ready. ) Service is pleasant and friendly! They had a special and were out of some of the pizzas when I went. Can't think of anything I'd change! We took our chances on a Friday night in the pouring rain, to see if The Laundry had seating available! They did! We sat at a quaint little table and had amazing service. The salmon was perfect along with new potatoes and veggies. The wine was terrific. The ambiance was easy for conversation, families and just really pleasant. My companion had the veggie Vindaloo and it was SO good! hey, The Laundry....HOLD THE SALT! I will start by saying, as far as ambiance, aesthetic, and atmosphere goes, this place is top notch. Additionally, our server was absolutely outstanding. Sadly, the food did not meet the mark. And it did not meet the mark for 1 reason, and that reason for that is Na 22.990. I'm not sure if the chef on this particular night was just heavy handed with the Mortons, or if this is just how they do at The Laundry, but our dishes tasted like they had been dragged through the Utah salt flats prior to plating. We will more than likely be back, but next time our appetizers will be blood pressure meds. read more

Always a favorite of ours when we're in the Fenton area. Consistent with their food and it never disappoints. This is the first time we've had brunch here, we usually are here for dinner. The sandwiches are massive and reminds me of Zingerman's. You can definitely take a good portion of your meal home for another meal. The French Onion Soup is outstanding. Rich flavor, not overloaded with onions and generous with the cheese! The Spicy Scott was just what I wanted that day and my husband loved his spin on the Reuben. I ordered the Cafe miel and it was absolutely delicious! (And much larger than I expected). For my meal, I rdered the huevos motulenos and was again very pleased with my choice. It too was delicious and comes highly recommended by me, if you are feeling a savory brunch dish. The interior gives a casual, friendly vibe making it perfect brunch spot for family or friends. Parking was easy to find located just behind the restaurant for ease. However, I could see it being more difficult to find spots at busier times of the day, as it was limited. I still remember when it was The French Laundry (on a tiny footprint), where coffees were served, and the seating was sparse; amazing the empire that's been built in our sleepy little town. Knew it was going to be insane since it was Labor Day weekend, so we put in to-go orders using the website. My complaints: we ordered 3 entrees to go and I asked for silverware for 4 (we had a kiddo w us too), and was given two sets of silverware--that made eating breakfast tricky. I can check eating eggs w a spoon off my list of weird things... Secondly, the young lady working on the takeout window was rude when I asked for help ordering my coffee. Me: I hate to do this, but do you have something like a Starbucks' caramel macchiato? Her: that's basically a caramel latte (said in an extremely condescending fashion). Aside from that, the three of us LOVED our Rise Ups--eggs were cooked perfectly; sourdough toast was crunchy and chewy and perfect w butter; potatoes had a perfect garlic bite! I've been coming here for years, literally every time we head North this is our breakfast stop. My husband doesn't even have to ask anymore. The majority of the time we are here for breakfast and it's always superb. They are very consistent in delivering a fresh, home cooked meal. My most recent visit was different for two reasons.... One - I was there for lunch and two - I was there during Covid-19. Let's just talk about Covid and get it out of the way. I had absolutely no hesitation about dining here. There are signs on the tables that aren't being used in order to socially distance. When someone gets up from a table they sanitize it and put a sign on it that it's been cleaned. They have two outdoor eating areas, one at the front of the restaurant and another patio on the side. We chose to sit at the bar, which also has some stools removed for social distancing. We were there mid-week so the wait time was not a problem. I'm just guessing that it may get a little crowded on the weekends not being able to seat all of the tables. Lunch was delicious!! They have a limited menu right now so they have selected the best of the best of their sandwiches, but still the bartender was helpful in making suggestions. We ended up with the turkey sandwich which had fresh pesto on it. The pesto sold me and didn't disappoint. Because we were sharing a sandwich I felt justified in ordering some Mac and Cheese and it too was delicious. This was and still is one of my favorite stops. Reading the less-than-five-star reviews for this place makes me laugh. A lot of people have literally rated the restaurant terribly because they had to wait! In my opinion, if you have to wait to get a seat, 9 times out of 10 that means it's worth it! (And this place is worth it!) One reviewer made it seem like the restrooms were INSIDE the kitchen... Nope! Some reviewers complain about the price of the sandwiches. To me, their sandwiches are worth every penny! These things are enormous; enough to eat one half there, and the other half as a snack or meal later. They have seasonal and monthly specials, and include many locally-sourced ingredients in their dishes. In fact, most of their bread and dessert selections come from Crust, a Fenton-based bakery down the street. I've never had a meal here that I didn't LOVE, and the cocktail menu is impressive. The bartenders concoct their very own unique & interesting libations that you don't see on regular drink menus. There is a huge roster of different sandwiches to choose from, plus awesome brunch and salad choices as well. If you're vegan or vegetarian, they've got many options for you, too! Like most popular restaurants, my advice is- don't come on a weekend if you don't want to wait for a table! They do offer an online waitlist, so if you're looking to snag a spot on a busy day, pop your name into their system! I've wanted to eat dinner here for years. I had to head into Flint, so I took a detour at lunch to try this place out. I had the Ruben and a cup of their cabbage soup. The Ruben was really good. It was huge. The soup was suppose to come out first, but I had to ask for it after my sandwich came out. The cabbage soup was WAY to salty so I had to send it back. Parking isn't fun there either. I parked two and a half blocks away. The hostess said to the couple in front of me, how can I help you? The man said, by getting better parking. Lol. He must have parked further than I did. There are two main rooms. The room I was in was very loud but pleasant. When I come back for dinner I'll have to ask for the other room. It did not seem to be as loud. I will be back. read more
