Just tried calling in a large order for pick up based upon the recommendation of friends who are long time customers. I was placed on hold 3x for excessive amounts of time. The 3rd time I finally reached someone-this man asked me to repeat each order 2-3 times and each time he would tell me he couldn't hear me (I had full service and was speaking clearly). When I got to my 7th item, he was making it VERY clear that I was a bother to him, and then told me that he couldn't hear me, that he's very busy and has other tables- at which point I told him I was going to call another diner as I was clearly inconveniencing him. Where do I start hm, well apart from walking in to the Quentin Tarantino scene from pulp fiction , I was quickly offered a " heater" where I gracially accepted with delight! . My boys and I come for breakfast every Sunday. We love everything that we've gotten. The omelettes are always delicious and the pancakes and French toast are great. I have been a customer of the diner for years, until today, I will NEVER go there again..my friends and I have been going there at least once a week and have loved it. Tonight we went and we had this horrible server she had no idea what she was doing and she had strong accent that made It hard to understand. I ordered what I normal order, however I can't eat potatoes so I asked if I could substitute them. I wanted sautéed spinach which she said that would be extra. The server said she it would be extra which was the same price as the regular menu price so that made no sense I was taking something away but yet paying the same price as if I got the fries and had to pay full menu price for the spinach. So the server said I could get sautéed broccoli without charging more. So I was like fine. Then the server brought our food and she had both sautéed spinach and sautéed broccoli I told her I didn't want the spinach so she took it away, I look up and the old tall man gave me a dirty look turns out I'm told that was the owner. So eat everything fine.. We get the check and there is an extra charge on the bill... So I go to the counter to pay and I ask the guy what is the Extra charge he says it for the sautéed broccoli so I say the server told me that it was no charge substitute for the french fries ( all very petty stuff, more the principle) He go to the old tall man( owner) to ask comes back and says no he isn't taking the extra charge off, so I asked him to get the owner..... He comes out with an attitude it tell him the story and he keeps saying too bad you ate it you pay for it, I told him if I was gonna pay for it I would have ordered the spinach he said too bad not his problem. All while the server just stood there knowing she was wrong so I say to the owner I will pay the Extra charge but me nor my friends or family will ever come back.... I ordered a very simple breakfast while waiting for my car to be serviced up the road. Eggs turkey bacon and potatoes. Simple enough right... Once I saw the plate I knew it was terrible. The potatoes were so oily and the eggs were cooked weird. I continued and figured it's a quick breakfast no biggie I'll just never come back. As I write u from my car dealership bathroom (yup TMI but true) I don't even know if I'll be able to drive home. Mediocre food with awful service. Ordered a chicken gyro wrap and when it arrived it was not a wrap but a regular gyro. When the waitress was informed of the error she started grabbing items off the plate. Decided to tell her to just leave it. Did the right thing and paid the bill and tipped appropriately. The wait staff was excellent. The owners "daughter" who was the apparent 'Sargent' in charge, not so nice. My family prefers to use plastic utensils. This diners "rules" state no plastic utensils in the dining area. I asked 3 times to please use the take out plastic utensils. This owners daughter stated with a smirk, nope, not in the dining room. She seemed very happy with her decision. She seemed so pleased with herself, making this very definite decision, a big decision for her ,it seemed. "Available for take out only." Since this was more incredible than unbelievable, we deceided to take out our diner, as we were concerned for our waiter. This diners management may use things like this in a negative way towards their staff. This was very troubling to hear, so we made no trouble for them, as they were truly nice people who were well mannered and knowledgable on their menu. The food was awful. I actually could not finish the fish dish we ordered, and the rice was less than acceptable. I give it a one package of Alia seltzer rating with a follow up of 2 tums. Pretty ugly. When we want to take the night off in our house for an evening out, to hopefully enjoy a dinner out, the 'Lighthouse Diner' will never be on the menu. read more

I am a regular here. I come here with my boyfriend and friends quite a bit that the bus boys even know us LOL and honestly, yes, this is the best diner in Nassau County. Cannot speak for Suffolk since I'm never there. Always seated promptly, very friendly staff, always refilling your water and checking up on you to make sure you are happy with everything. They will never rush you out and let you enjoy your time here as long as you please. Ive never had a bad meal here. The food is always amazing and on point and you get a ton of food for what you pay for. The prices are extremely fair. Great menu with TONS of choices. Very clean. Never dirty. I refuse to go to any other diner. Keep doing what your doing Lighthouse because it fantastic. Oh and they have some damn good coffee! read more

Have been a customer for 5 years. The food quality and freshness has declined so bad. I have been asking if they changed the cook. I was told they had a new cook..ok..but it's more than bad cooking, the food itself is low quality meats and reheated over. The Owners daughter is there mostly now and she has terrible customer service skills, she is so obnoxious as most of the waitstaff. BUG ALERT!!!!!! Me and my husband just ordered take out order. The burger and a soup from this place. I opened my soup and had 2 BUGS FLOATING in my container!!!! It was disgusting! !!! We called back to the diner trying to speak to the manager. Manager put our waitress in the phone. She said oh, sorry about that. So basically manager wasnt even trying to talk to us. So obviously they know about BUG PROBLEMS there and not doung anything about it. They just said over all "just deal with the bugs in your soup". We just had thee most amazing experience going out to eat As soon as we walked in to lighthouse diner in wantagh we were greeted by probably every female in there, loving on my baby girls . Ken was also wished a very happy Father's Day as soon as he walked in . Without a question asked we were brought to a table where Pamela and Oscar immediately had two high chairs waiting and she removed the knives from the girls tables bc "i remember having little ones" Our waitress Rose came over and said "ok let's get the girls order in so they don't have to wait ! And they did not . Immediately after their juice came so did their meals and our soups . When I tell you the way they fawned and literally waited on us hand and foot , moving drinks away from edges. Making sure the girls couldn't reach hot plates . Rose stopped and asked if we were happy repeatedly. I told her she was wonderful and she responded with "I love my job and making you all happy " and she really meant it bc she did . The owner was so sweet also . I'm just so impressed . Usually when people see us walk in to a restaurant with a 1 and 2 year old in tow a look of panic flashes in their eyes . Here, we had that welcome feeling as soon as we walked in . FIVE STARS ! I went for breakfast, the food was just ok. I went to order coffee and I Always get a small glass or container of milk for the coffee at any restaurant I order coffee from... They refused and said it was against there policy to give me milk in anything but those little packets!! I said r I kidding me!! If you want cheap prices, quick service, and good food, this is your place to go! We come here every once in a while and decided to come here Memorial Day weekend--boy was it busy! Most people would probably get really turned off by the amount of noise in the restaurant, and it definitely does leave for a lot of room for error on behalf of the waiters; however, everyone from the hostess to the wait staff were courteous, attentive, and pleasant! My boyfriend swears by their corn beef hash and claims it's the best he's ever had. I normally go for their sandwiches or wraps and I'm never disappointed. I don't always eat out, but when I do... I make sure to hit up the Lighthouse Diner in Wantagh!! I'm from Suffolk County and somewhat familiar with the wide range of Diners in Suffolk County. I've dabbled here and there, but nothing really pushed me to go back to one specific diner. Sure, the Lake Grove diner is great, but all the other have always seemed to served average, and somewhat overpriced food. It wasn't until my girlfriend (and now wife), who was living in Massapequa at the time, decided to take me here for breakfast one morning in 2009, that I became hooked. I ordered the waffle deluxe and received a piping hot, deliciously golden brown waffle served alongside a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg and bacon with a crisp that words cannot explain. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food I received. It was a great initial experience, which kept me coming back every time I was in the Massapequa area. Fast forward to 2015 and I've frequented the Lighthouse Diner more times than any other diner on the island. My wife personally loves all of the grecian food, specifically the spanakopita and grape leaves. I'll never shy away from my second true love (my wife being the first): the waffle deluxe. I've also become a huge fan of the cheeseburger deluxe and the array of quality, fresh baked desserts offered. Management has always appeared top notch and very friendly. The waitstaff is always working hard and it shows in the overall cleanliness and good vibes of the diner. I am seeing that the reviews here are quite high or low. Well, I can give at least my perspective! When I usually go to diners I don't expect too much. You know... the big portions and mass production kind of deal. It's a fun place to go to on a "I don't wanna cook tonight" night or a late night with friends. When I originally came here it was PACKED. I mean barely any seats. My mother and I sat down and ordered our Vanilla Egg Creams and classic Greek food. I got the chicken souvlaki and she got a Lamb Gyro. It was really good! They give you a nice sized greek salad and fried as well. This diner has some great dinner options. For what you pay, you get a ton of food. I always order the two chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta, and the other stuffed with crabmeat. The crabmeat is not some cheap out of the can product. Highly recommended. read more
