I had heard rave reviews about the Lobster Stop on FB a couple of years ago; I had asked the North Quincy Group to name "the best" seafood places in Quincy and the surrounding area. This was a new one for me, so my cousin and I tried it during the Summer of 2015. I had the Fisherman's Platter and it was good, but not great, the same happened at Tony's 2 months earlier, great reviews but the Ipswich Fried Clams were just "OK". So my favorite place remained the Lobster Hut in Plymouth, it was batting a 750, 3 out of 4 trips were GREAT! Then last Christmas, my cousin gave us a gift card for the Lobster Stop, so I brought my wife and 2 preteens there for dinner shortly after Christmas Day. Wife and daughter had Clam Chowder and split the 2 lobster deal, while my 8 YO son had chicken fingers, LOL, he's not very adventurous and I had the fried Fisherman's Platter. WOW! What a difference, it was perfect. My wife and daughter loved the lobster and Clam Chowder (I tried my daughter's CC, it was good but I wasn't as big a fan as they were). My FP was great and my son's chicken was also great. Now my choice for the upcoming weekend is whether to drive to Plymouth and hit the Lobster Hut before they get busy (seems that quality is better just off peak) or do the Lobster Stop, which is about 3 miles from my cousin's place. I have to pick up some souvenirs at Livin' EZ in Plymouth, but maybe I could do one place Friday night and the other Saturday afternoon; decisions, decisions. BTW, the staff was "helpful" on our first trip and "outstanding" on the second. (The 4 Star Review was a combo of my summertime 2015 3 Star and my December 2015 5 Star Reviews.) read more

Fantastic lobster roll (warm toasted bread, fresh lobster) and clam chowder (thick and creamy with large chunks of clam). Love this place. Great scenery nearby as well. My husband and I went there the first nice day of spring and it was great! Started with steamers and they were really sweet and tender. Then we each had a cup of chowder and then I got a single lobster roll and he got the fish and chips. Everything was perfectly seasoned and we didn't feel rushed. They asked us if we were ready for our chowders when we were done with our clams, nice etiquette for a lobster pound! They do a lot of take out I noticed, lobster dinners and such.... Best lobster roll I've ever had! Reasonably clean, a little old, but did not detract from the food!

Very good food. The clam strip were tender and fried to perfection. Onion rings and French fries were awesome. Everything came out perfectly seasoned. No need to salt the food at the table. The only reason that I did not give this restaurant a five is that it is very small and tables are limited. That said I can't wait to go back and try to Lobster roll. I went with my family for a nice seafood dinner and was rewarded with a fantastic dinner. It was a nice "birthday" present... My wife had the adult fish and chip's and was plesently surprised by the bountiful portion of fish. Once she dug in she delightfully pleased by the taste. My daughter and my oldest son both love calimari and ordered the calimari plate. To their pleasure they received a hearty plate of calimari and as they devoured the calimari they had huge smiles.on their faces. My youngest child and second son had the kids fish and chip's and loved it. When he goes to fish restraunts the usual is a hot dog basket, but he ordered fish and ate the whole plate. I ordered the Fisherman's platter and was completely in my glory! The shrimp and scallops were plentiful as was the "full belly" clams. The two pieces of fish were large and delicious. Never again Seafood platter, food was either frozen or old. Purchased two of them, around $22 each, total was $44. Not the most generous amount of food either Wont see me there again and I pass by every day. read more

Great place! My boyfriend and I were driving along the coast in the area one day, and we saw it as we drove by. Hours later, we decided to go there for dinner on our way back, and we were glad we did. We got the fisherman's platter; it has a ton of food (and I can pretty much eat anything, but I couldn't finish it in one go). Good buy for your buck! It wasn't overly greasy, but I wished there were grilled and/or baked options for this dish. I never eat fried foods, but I don't regret it this time, because it was just so good. read more

This place is great! I'm a picky eater, but everything I ordered was amazing. The onion rings were surprisingly delicious I couldn't stop eating them! I had the fish sandwich which was the best fish sandwich and the most fresh fish sandwich I've ever had; the batter was thin and tasty! So fresh! The lobster roll! Omg I had to have both yes a sandwich and a lobster roll couldn't choose. But the lobster roll had all my meat I think and not a lot of mayo and the bread was toasted to perfection! Came with a pickle and a bag of chips! I think the women said my fish sandwich came with chips too but I only got one with my lobster roll. I think she thought since it was all for me I wouldn't need two bags lol but I wanted the other so bad that was my fat girl inside me talking. lol! That was my first time there I hope when I go back everything is the same as the first time. I'm just a little upset I didn't eat there sooner. As an out of towner, the place can be a little tricky to find but aside from that, the seafood is incredibly fresh. We had hot lobster rolls which were buttery (but not overly greasy) and the lobster was tender and melted in your mouth. It's pretty no frills, but I think that's the whole point. We love the seafood here. We often order fried calamari, whole clam, double lobster roll. Great local seafood restaurant with great price and great service. You can tell they are dedicated to make good food, just from their attention to details: They cut two corners on all the fried seafood take-out boxes, so the food stays nice and crispy. read more

Went here tonight, first time. Like a lot of family-run restaurants in Quincy, it's more cash-friendly. I had $20, so ordered fried clam roll because, yum!, and french fries and drink with $2 change. Clams were very good, fresh; lots of fries. Definitely enough food. Staff is very friendly, nice, helpful, cute. There's a playful feeling about the place; a local's favorite for sure. To the guy who commented about the hot dog roll (lobster salad) above; welcome to New England! I think it's weird for fried clams, and wouldn't get a roll again, but now I know. This place is exactly what I wanted it to be. They have lobsters in open top tanks which you can buy live and bring home. They also have new england standards. Lobster Rolls, Lobster, Steamers, Whole Belly Clams, Scallops, Chowders, etc. We had only the lobster roll and clam chowder, both were definitely up to snuff and I've had my fair share of both across the region. Reasonable prices too. This place is the real deal. We will stop by again next time we come through the area. read more

Family owned diner which gives it a warm comfy feel. The lobster roll was delicious and the single roll had a lot of lobster meat. It would've been better with a little less mayo so that the lobster flavor could stand out more. The roll was buttery and toasted to perfection. read more

Such a great find! Unassuming from outside but you get real fresh food inside. The decor is simple, but we will definitely be going back. We had the lobster roll, lobster mac and cheese, and fried fish (cod) with chips. My only complaint was that the single lobster roll was rather tiny for $13. Excellent fresh seafood. This is a really great place. A small, family-owned restaurant that provides some of the best fried seafood sandwiches on the South Shore. They also provide a lot of fresh seafood options as well. The menu is not huge; however, you can tell they working on perfecting the food they do provide. The seafood is excellent, the fries a always perfectly cooked, and for the amount of food you get the price cannot be beat. By the way, the service is fantastic, the family who runs the place is incredibly friendly and outgoing and really make you feel welcome in this little seafood shop. Ordered two fresh lobstahs with the best service ever. I got a free cup of fish chowda while I waited for the lobsters to be steamed. The folks are the nicest, ever. And the lobsters were jam packed with meat! Highly recommended as a go-to seafood shop. There's parking by the building. read more

Food's good. But call ahead and order or you might find yourself waiting a long time to get your stuff when it's busy. Other than that, you can't really go wrong. Oh and if you buy your lobsters there, they steam them for you for like no money. Well worth it for not having to cook them and then clean your pots. read more

$38 for two of their bigger lobsters (not the chicken lobsters) plus a side to eat there. Steamed perfectly, wasn't overcooked. People were super friendly. Lobster bisque was delicious too. Similar to Legal's but more lobster meat and of course cheaper. Will definitely be coming back. read more
