My mother lives nearby, so when I'm in town we always go here. I love the scallops!! Not too much breading, just a thin coat of crispness. The people all buzz about getting things done and you can see the lobsters are live (FRESH!). The onion rings and fries are also really good. I'm not a seafood eater so I cant comment on that but, my friend had the fishermans platter, which the chef made special order for her, and she loved it. I enjoyed my chicken finger platter. We went there because my friend had been wanting to try it so I tagged along. I thought the place was very clean and had a great family feel. I loved how New England the place felt. My dad passed away 14 years ago but he was a boat builder and fisherman and as I sat in this place, I felt like I was sitting in my dads house again. Stopped by on this sunny Saturday. We grabbed take out and went to a local park to bask in the sun. We had a lobster roll with fries. There was a lot of big pieces in the roll, not too much mayo. The roll was nicely toasted. The calamari was the perfect shade of gold fried goodness. A little greasy but tasted great. The calamari was not chewy and the batter was delicious. The platter included fries and sadly there were more fries than calamari. Saw on the menu that if you call ahead they will steam the lobster for you! Excited to try that in the future. I have been going to the Lobster Stop since it opened. I love the fresh lobster, right off the boat. Their prices for lobster are usually below retail and they are sooooo tasty. I have them steam them for me to save time since I usually buy about 10 at a time. We have had the fish and chips (large pieces of fish), whole clams and lobster bisque, all of which are great. The large order of whole clams is pricey but well worth it, lots of perfectly fried and seasoned clams. We live about 30-45 minutes away but will take the trip every time we want sea food takeout. We have eaten there once or twice but they are so busy it is hard to relax and enjoy the food. If they had the time and money I would suggest for them to move the seating area in the back so it faced the water instead of the parking lot. I think their food is better and priced more friendly than Legal's. read more

I would have given this place 5 stars but I didn't really care for the clam chowder. The chowder has a lemony after taste. Everything else was good. We ordered the fish and chips. We were served a large portion of fish that was nicely coated and the fish was flakey. The fries were tasty and crisp. I would eat here again read more

This weekend while visiting from out of town ; I had the opportunity to dine at the Lobster Stop and the food was delicious! I purchased the clam chowder for an appetizer which was perfect. It was not too salt and the clams in the chowder were just right. Then I ordered the Fisherman's Platter that had haddock, whole clams, sea scallops and shrimp which were fried to perfection. In addition to the platter I added a lobster that was cooked to perfection. Also, I had the chance to talk to the owner's son and he let me take pictures of the 10 and 12 pound lobster that are in the lobster tank. The food portions were good. I shared the fisherman platter with two other people. Also, the customer service was great! They were very patient because I was so indecisive about what to order because everything look good on the menu. The next time I am in town I will definitely return to the Lobster Spot! While on vacation in Hull over the weekend my boyfriend and I were looking for some yummy seafood. All of the seafood restaurants on our strip were closed for the season and the one that was open had horrible reviews so we looked around and found The Lobster Stop! We arrived there about 10 minutes to 8pm on a Sunday. Not knowing there hours we figured they would be open later so we walked in. My boyfriend asked for the lobster dinner and the girl at the front asked if she still had time to make it. I saw they closed in a few minutes and apologized for even coming in a couple minutes before closing. The owner said it was completely fine and help us pick out a lobster and immediately started cooking it for us. In CT most places will kick you out and not care about losing business because they don't want to stay open past closing time. So this was pretty awesome! We chatted with the owner for about 15 minutes and got to learn about his restaurant and things to do around the area. He is incredibly friendly. That alone would have me coming back! We brought our food back to the hotel and feasted on Lobster, Lobster bisque, chicken finger platter, and onion rings. All of which was so unbelievably good! I will definitely be returning here when we come back to vacation again. Thank you for such wonderful food and service!!! read more

Just went to this place last night for the first time. Hands down the best fried scallop plate I've ever had and I grew up in a family of fishermen and diggers. The couple who own it are a riot and make you feel right at home. The lobsters looked great and the jumbos were about $3 cheaper than most other markets. The husband is a lobsterman so that makes sense, cutting out any graft from middlemen. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that it's on the Fore River Bridge rotary, which is slightly less convenient than being on a raft in the middle of the ocean. read more

Good spot for seafood on the quick! Good lobster rolls at a reasonable price, good fried clams and rings....what's not to like. Parking can sometimes be a challenge, but all in all, a very welcome presence by the bridge. Nice staff people as well. read more

While out on our motorcycle ride of the south shore we decided to give the lobster stop a try .The food was very good and fresh . The woman behind the counter was a delight to order from . The location was a little tricky to get out of .Rotary traffic was moving swiftly . I recommend the fisherman's platter . The amount of food you get is more than enough . Being a big eater I was satisfied . The prices are very reasonable . We have been back twice since our first stop and look forward to going back again . This used to be my favorite spot to go to. Been coming for years. This year I have been in about 3-4 times and just about every time there has been an issue. I purchased a few platters and was very specific to what I wanted. The first time was a clam platter with onion rings... it literally took them an hour and 20 minutes to make me the one plate and they ended up giving me a clam plate with fries. Next time I got 4 fish and chips and specifically wanted the fries to be separated. This order was apparently too hard to get right either because this was also not done. When I brought them back to be fixed, I could hear the cook in the back arguing about it like it was a big deal to have the fries put on the side. A few weeks later I purchased a few lobsters to be steamed and they were completely undercooked when I got home with them. At this point I called the restaurant to see what was going on there and why my orders kept getting messed up and was informed that the restaurant has been under new ownership since the beginning of the new year. Makes sense since that's about when I noticed a drop in the quality of food and just overall service. Anyway I gave them another chance and purchased a number of lobster rolls because a few others were craving them. When we opened them up there were all these olives and peppers scattered on the inside of the boxes, some of which had rolled onto the actual lobster rolls themselves. If it's one thing that doesn't go with a lobster roll, it's a handful of random olives and peppers that gave off a rather stinky odor that I did not ask for. I almost feel as though it was maybe done on purpose like they knew I was the customer that had called back a week before and were maybe playing a trick on me. I would rather not try this place again. Been nothing but a headache every time I've gone there the past couple of months, and when I was informed about the new ownership and new staff, it made sense. There are plenty of other places to get a lobster roll or fried seafood platter anyway.. read more

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE LOBSTER STOP!!! The south shores hidden gem. I have been a lobster stop customer since they opened. Best seafood around, fair price and friendly service, I have always said they can't be beat. Tonight they went above and beyond, a friend of mine from Oklahoma is visiting me. Her 18 year old son just graduated and was offered a trip anywhere, he asked to to go to Boston. Brandon has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair. He has never eaten a lobster or chowder and was excited to try it. So I took him where they do it right! Janie the owner went above and beyond. She brought over a live lobster over to our table and sat with us. She let I'm touch it and told Brandon about catching them and cooking them. How to tell if they are male or female. She taught him how they put lobsters to sleep and let him try. She welcomed his mom to take photos and videos. She even have him a t-shirt Janie has got true class!!!! This experience made this little boys while vacation. The food was amazing as always and I had so much fun teaching him how to eat a true New England favorite!!!! Thank you Janie! I really love this place. My favorites are the clam strip roll and lobster roll, with fries and onion rings. Not too greasy, not too much mayo- great flavor. The homemade tarter sauce is delicious! I just moved to the area. I passed it a few times & after like, the 30th time, literally... Seconds away from Weymouth, where I live, so, decided to try it. I only eat Seafood & Poultry. This place did NOT disappoint. * Ample Parking, Fair Pricing, Fast Customer Serivce & accomodating. Ample seating, right above the water, fairly consistent preparation, & Easy to find. Dee'licuous food. Calamari is so very good. Side Note: I found my 1st visit here surprisingly friendly. I Hesitated because locals in this area, "dont take kindly" to people of color. While only here for a few months, I plan on leaving the area. But I WILL continue to frequent this establishment. The young girls were friendly & NOT polarizing at all towards me. On another visit, the guys brought my food to me once it was done. If you're crossing the Bridge to Weymouth, look for this place. Hope this place keeps up the good work. read more

Great location! Very fast service with fresh great tasting food. We're big fans of the Fisherman's platter to go and throw in an order of chicken tenders for the kiddos and it's an easy night. They are friendly and basically greet you at the door with your order. We have yet to try out the actual lobster at the stop, but we believe it is only a matter of time before this stop becomes a MUST EXPERIENCE on the south shore. read more
