I was really looking forward to trying this spot. We took my parents here for my birthday and we will *never* be back. We came at 1pm on a Saturday and there were two tables--an 8 top and a 4 top. It took 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to drop off water. We ordered 3 sandwiches and a salad. Once the food finally came out an hour later, I had a hair in my salad. I kindly let the server know. She took it back and came back 30 seconds later with what I'm sure was the same salad--which my husband and I both noticed. You would think that we would have at least got my meal partially comped, but no. Very disappointed. read more

We came here on a Tuesday evening when they had music. The music was loud and we couldn't even talk. We ordered drinks and an appetizer/chicken nacho which took 1 hour to come to our table. My daughter ordered the flank steak medium with chimichurri sauce and it came out rare. They took it back to kitchen and we all were done eating by the time her dinner came back. This place is getting it right! Was looking for a new place to try and am so glad we found The Local. My husband and I decided to share a few small plates; the Bavarian Pretzel, bruschetta and the tacos. The mustard served with the pretzel is amazing. I wish I could get that recipe because it's not your typical honey mustard. It has a little bite and we soaked up every drop. The bruschetta was our least favorite; still very good but the prosciutto pieces need some acid (in my opinion). I'd probably add some thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes, basil and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. Now to the tacos; my goodness, these are amazing. We ordered another plate because they're just that good. We actually woke up this morning still talking about those shrimp tacos, which of the three served, are our favorite. Shrimp was perfectly cooked, seasoned to perfection and good sized. You can taste that what's going on in that kitchen is done homemade, with a shared passion for quality food and genuine care for the customer experience. This is a cozy and relaxing place to grab a drink and relax. The ambiance on the patio, with the lights strung across and the soft lighting inside made for a very calming experience to sit back and enjoy. The salad was crisp and fresh with torn croutons while the nachos had just enough spice in the cheese to remind you that these were not your average nachos. Good food overall and the nachos are almost a meal in themselves. Had to wait quite a long time for an error in my order but the server was quick to apologize and take 1/2 off the cost of the item. Great outdoor seating area and when they finally opened the door it make it very comfortable to eat outside. We will be back for sure! read more

Been here before and we had a good time and enjoyed the food and drinks but they were mostly empty. Tonight they were mostly full and we sat at a dirty table that they cleaned shorty after we sat. Then 10-15 minutes later nobody came to see us, take a drink order. or anything. A couple of servers looked at us from the bar but never came over. We got the local salad for $8 you get two small handfuls of mixed greens, three slices of cucumber, one radish sliced up, and a few crumbles of goat cheese with a very acidy dressing. We also got their $13 nachos. Dumping a bag of Juanita's on a sheet pan and haphazardly topping it with beans, tomatoes, and the same cheese sauce that comes with the pretzel, feels about the same as the guy with the lifted pick up picking you up for a tinder date. Came out cold. Rather disappointed with what we picked. Although the sandwiches our friends got looked decent and edible. Mostly because it seems like they use Acme bread. Good thing we are from out of town, so we will not be back. read more

So, I like their crostinis... But... Unfortunately that's about it. The service was horribly slow. The waitress was nice though. However, they were out of all the drinks that I asked for. I then asked for a grapefruit vodka soda. I asked my waitress if it is a sweet drink because I like sweet and she assured me that it was, so I got it. The drink was horrible. I couldn't taste the grapefruit or the vodka and it was only soda water. There was nothing sweet about it. So, I asked my waitress if I could get something else like a port. So I got a decent tasting port and was satisfied. Then she brought the check and she still charged me for the vodka drink that I did not drink. I was beyond ready to leave because we had been there for a very long time because of the slow service so I just wanted to pay and go. Took another 15-20 minutes to get the check and card back and leave. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Great location and an appealing menu. But... Service was marginal. First off, I think a server/bartender should introduce themselves - provide a name. I don't want to have to just shout out "hey!". I stopped by during lunch. I ordered stuffed mushrooms and a cup of tomato bisque. The mushrooms were great. The soup however... Almost cold. As though it was poured and sat on the counter for 10 min. I want to like this place so I'm willing to give it another try and possibly amend this review. read more

I have never felt so ripped off when it comes to food. Today is national taco day and I was craving tacos already. I googled national taco day near me and The Local popped up. I have had their curry salad sandwich before and it was really good, which is a why I'm giving them two stars and not one. They were running a special for national taco day, happy hour tacos all day. So I called and ordered 4 chicken tacos, at $3 a piece. So $12 for happy hour tacos, mind you there are a couple places here that do taco Tuesday specials year round, one is an all you can eat taco buffet for $9. But I don't know what I'm in for, these could be awesome tacos! Nope. Each taco was smaller than the palm of my hand, really bland, chicken was dry, tiny amount of cabbage, cilantro and onion. I spent $12.72 for these things and that was a discounted price! I'm sure the local is better than this, but I feel really cheated today. read more

I have been to The Local twice. A 3 star rating is the best I can give. Both times the food was marginal. Most recently I ordered the turkey and Brie sandwich with a cup of tomato bisque soup. The sandwich was just ok with a little too much arugula. The soup was the consistency or marinara with marginal flavor. A creme brûlée was also ordered. It had the consistency of pudding rather than custard under the caramelized sugar. It was pumpkin flavored which we were not told in advance. Service was also marginal. read more

I've been to The Local four or five times for dinner, and I'd love to rate it higher, but feel that the place needs some tweaking. On the plus side, THERE ARE NO TVs!!! I LOVE THAT. There is a nice selection of beer and wine, along with a varied menu and typically a special dish. The food has always been delicious and service friendly, if sometimes slow. On the minus side, if you're expecting a full meal, you may be disappointed, particularly for what it costs. Each time I've eaten at The Local, I go away a little hungry and a little resentful at what I paid. It would be nice to see candles in the candle holders that are typically on at least some of the tables. I don't quite get why the holders are there with nothing in them. Please light candles or replace the holders with a little vase of flowers or some other decorative item on the tables. read more

I thought it was super good. My wife and I just stopped in and had two apps, a couple beers and that was it. We had the pretzel and the wild mushroom polenta. I thought both were executed quite well. The pretzel came with a jalapeño cheese and a grain mustard sauce. Both were good. I liked it and will return. Again, they seemed to execute quite well, service was good and the vibe too. Was surprise at how empty it was (there was only one other table), but maybe we just beat (or missed?) the crowd; there were a few more parties arriving as we ate. Friend's salad looked amazing and the mini French press that arrived when she ordered coffee was adorable. I ordered a muffuletta sandwich and did a double take when he asked me if I wanted sourdough or wheat bread. It's not a muffuletta if it's not on muffuletta bread! I should have picked a new lunch option right there, but chose a bread and suffered the consequences of unsatisfaction the rest of the meal.
