    Classic breakfast
    Leighton D.

When you're the only game in town.... lol. Right in front of the TSA gates. Breakfast was good and worth it. Service was fast and efficient. Breakfast, coffee, tip around $25

Late Post Sep 23' 3.5-5 Other than North Pole Coffee this seemed to be the better choice. Shared breakfast with my partner and it was sufficient, got full but not overly full! It's a bit odd that you have to order at the bar then get your dish take to the table and if you want something you gotta get back up to ask for it at the bar. I did notice the guy next to us order the same thing but he got more eggs and hash browns... LOL am I that girl, yes I am! (missing a star, work on portions) overall the service was ok - had to wait for the waitress for a cool min who was having breakfast in the back and came out with her mouth full! (Missing Star)

Alaska Chilli with reindeer sausage and a house salad with ranch dressing
    Katrina P.

The food was fine. Nothing stellar. I had the Alaska chilli with reindeer sausage and a house salad. It's very pricey here even for airport food. This set me back $25 for a soup and salad. It's a smedium size airport so this spot and the coffee shop are your only restaurant choices. There is a decent amount of seating here compared to the size of the airport. As for the service....you seat yourself and then go to the bar to order and provide the table number you are sitting at. Another gentleman and myself were the only two people standing at the spot to order. I know he was standing there quite a bit before I approached the bar. Once I stood behind him in the queue, I was there for over 15-20 minutes before she acknowledged either of us. We watched the one lone bartender/server go back to the kitchen and chat with the cook for awhile, she came out looked at us then walked down the bar and took someone's drink order, made it. Looked at us again before coming around the bar and walking over and clearing one table at a time. Meanwhile more people joined the queue. She did eventually come to take orders when there 6 of us standing there. She didn't greet anyone at all or smile, simply asked "what can I get you?" Although I sympathise with her being the only person working and had to bartend, take orders and serve the food. At least acknowledge the guests standing in line and state you will be with them asap and prioritise your tasks. Bussing the tables can come after you've started taking orders.

Excellent bloody mary from an incredible bar tender
    Joy L.

We had pretty low expectations given the reviews, so we were surprisingly pleased by our experience. A few things to note right off the bat: 1. Andrew is right, they are SHOCKINGLY UNDERSTAFFED. So bear that in mind and be kind. The bartender takes your food and drink order, preps and delivers it to the kitchen, delivers your food to your table, deals with unruly people and keeps everything straight. She's INCREDIBLE. 2. Since this is a small remote Alaskan town, with a very small airport and a very small kitchen that is clearly having staffing issues (worse than other parts of the US) if you don't have at least a 90 minute buffer DO NOT ORDER food or there's a chance you won't have time to eat and board without a sense of panic. 3. Most importantly, when you go up to the bar to order, the first thing you start with is your table number. The bartender will be VERY grateful for this piece of information since she is a human octopus who has to enter your order STARTING with your table number. 4. If you're going to buy a drink, brace yourself for the prices and DO NOT COMPLAIN to the bartender. She's not the one who set the prices. My bloody Mary was $18. So what. It's a flipping airport. The rent is insane, get over it or don't buy a drink. Our flight was delayed (Twice), so our experience was leisurely. I'm pretty sure the bartender was trying to get me rocked because she made me the most heavy handed bloody Mary I've ever had. It was EXCELLENT. My partner and I ordered a salad and reindeer chili fries to split. They were surprisingly generous and we had food left on our plate. One weird thing that made them actually better was the reindeer fries were actually tater tots... so that was actually cool, but it was odd that it was unexplained. The tables were also dirty- like VERY dirty here, so I had to track down a method of cleansing before we could eat. But all things considered, it was a good experience.

Two stars because it's literally the only restaurant/bar option in the airport and you can't fault the staff entirely for poor management. And the food is somewhat edible. Been through FAI twice in the last few days during busy daytime lunch hours and the place was closed both times. Second time they finally reopened around 1:30pm. One of the gift shop employees made a comment that The Local doesn't have any set hours and then they complain about not having any customers. Huh. Weird how that works. Food is cafeteria-quality at best. Turkey club was a hamburger bun with Fred Meyer deli meat and a slice of limp bacon. The Parmesan tots are frozen tots that have been deep fried and sprinkled with the same dry, flavorless parm cheese you'd get pre-shredded at the market. Not even a sprinkle of seasoning. It was like eating your school cafeteria tots with splinters of hay. Staff is completely overwhelmed -- this has been the case every time I have come through in the past few years but now it's worse probably due to covid. Their menu is also really scaled down and they don't even have a listed menu for their drinks. I know it's airport prices but $23 for a pint of beer and a mimosa? I'm pretty sure I was overcharged somewhere in our meal. Sit-down restaurant prices for food-in-plastic-baskets, bus-your-own-table, order-at-the-bar meh quality food orchestrated by a frazzled staff. Also, their prices mention they don't include tax but the only tax IIRC is the 0.5% statewide for alcohol. Not sure how two drinks, a sad Turkey club, a side salad, and a side of tots came up to $50 unless that mimosa with boxed orange juice was $14 which I guess isn't entirely unsurprising for an airport. Really, you're better off ordering a hot sandwich or cheese plate on the airplane.

They close at 6 PM. Service has been awful lately, I see why they have poor reviews. Unfortunately, the only place in the small airport.

The location and food choices made this a great spot for fish and chips before catching a plane home.

Food was so small and pricey, if you come here without checking the reviews beforehand just like me, sucks to be you.

After spending two weeks in Fairbanks, one piece of advice kept coming up from the locals: "You…read morehave to eat here." They weren't wrong. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome -- not just well served, but truly looked after. Attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it, the kind of hospitality that makes you instantly relax. The food selection was dangerously good. The kind of menu that makes you abandon all self-control and think, "I'll just try a bit of everything." No regrets there. Special mention to the bar staff, whose cheerful, infectious outlook on life set the tone for the entire place. Her energy alone could warm a Fairbanks winter -- and honestly, a raise should already be on the way That warmth carried through the whole restaurant, creating an atmosphere that felt inviting for everyone, whether you're a local regular or a frozen traveller passing through. Thank you to the entire team for making me feel so welcome over the Christmas and New Year period and for adding another unforgettable memory to my time in Fairbanks. "Be careful... Alaska will get you".

We were saying at the hotel so came here twice…read more - Crab stuffed mushrooms: comes with a cream sauce; best thing we ate here - Cajun pasta: the pasta was extremely overcooked but the sauce was nice enough although I wish it had more spice and flavor. The reindeer sausage is actually a little spicy and while the menu lists another type of sausage, I'm not sure if I saw that. The shrimp was not overcooked which I appreciated. - The garden salad is pitiful but we were craving veggies, and it does come with housemade dressing which is good. - Fish and chips came with 3 semi-decent sizes of fish that weren't overcooked but the batter was slightly undercooked inside and the fries were decent. It came with coleslaw which was good. We asked for another tartar sauce and it was a $2 extra to our surprise. - the blackened halibut special was not that good, overcooked, but the mango salsa on top was delicious. The yellow rice was much too watery and bland as if it was microwaved, but it seemed like they would give you another side (i.e. mash potatoes) if requested. It was also $45 which was more expensive than I expected so I'd ask for the price next time before I order any specials. Beverages: - the arctic warrior draft beer was crisp and light; I'd get this again - the best beer I had in Fairbanks so far
