Potato skins were under cooked and flavorless. Next the entree;broiled scallops,tendons were not removed;very lazy; and no seasoning at all. How do we make food taste good chef? Salt and Pepper, it's not that complicated. The crew at the Phantom have this place wrongly categorized. Comfort food is very simple. So I've had lunch at the loft once and dinner and drinks after work a few times. The food is good. Big and tasty burgers and the house made chips are delicious. The restaurant is dark and not updated, and the service is okay, but tends to be slow. When I've gone after work it has always seemed understaffed. Several times I've had to wait a long time to get seated when the restaurant was not full simply because there seems to be only one or two people working the entire restaurant. In the end, I would recommend the loft if you're in the mood for good food in a dive-bar type of atmosphere. read more

First off the bartender was rude to us from the moment we sat down. My wife and I were both thinking of leaving at that point but we had a babysitter at home and we both were hungry so we decided to stay hoping the food and service would get better it didnt. We ordered our drinks and then dinner she again was rude to me when I asked what the sides were. My steak tips i got were luke warm and there were only four of them. for the priceI would hope of getting more then four. my wife got a chicken delicato the 2 pieces of chicken were t,iny but the rest of the plate was a good portion. I love this place. The natural wood barn type feel is right up my ally. The wait staff is always friendly and the food is served fairly fast. I'm always looking for a good deal and when you get the coupons in the "Community Values" flyer (Spend $25 get $10 Off) You can't beat that deal. That's one of the main reasons I go there. The only thing I don't like there is they no longer have my favorite onion rings. They have these God awful thin stringy onion thingies. Tha't my only complaint. Went here last week not sure what to expect. I am losing weight so I was hoping for some healthy choices and found a section of healthy meals which I absolutely loved. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she told me to get the Chicken Delicato. It may have been the tastiest chicken dinner I have ever had and it was low cal. I haven't been back since around this time last year. It's possible that some things have changed, but I doubt it. If you're lucky, you'll get seated downstairs, which is much nicer than getting banished to the outdated upstairs. If you get sent up there, it's just not a worthwhile experience: the decor is circa 1977-1984, with not enough lighting, and a filthy rug that runs the length of the area. The food is just not good enough to justify spending your time as a diner feeling like you've done something wrong and got sent to the hinterlands. The downstairs is great. If The Loft would just extend their renovations to the 2nd floor, it would be great. Many, many locals love this place. And when I'm on the 1st floor, I get it. But I don't like to gamble on which era I'll be dining in. read more

The manager Stephen came over to check on us and made us feel at home, even made a great beer recommendation. My daughter graduated from UML and wanted to go to the Loft for the clam chowder and lobster mac and cheese , which is her favorite. I called and made a reservation for Sat. night at 7 , in the bar. We arrived early, got seats at the bar, and had a drink while we waited. The homemade potato chips the bartender gave us with our drinks were really good! Our reservation was ready right on time , and I have to say , right off the bat, our waitress, Amy, made the whole night a wonderful experience!!! The food was good, as always. The clam chowder is always delicious. Amy told us right away that the filet mignon was sold out, which was appreciated. My dad and I got the Nantucket scallops from the specials, very , very good. Fried haddock, New York strip, chicken sandwich, and the above mentioned lobster Mac and cheese , were all delicious, arrived hot, and much enjoyed by all. My father loves to verbally spar with people, and Amy was a worthy sparring partner. The banter between her and my dad had us all laughing out loud. She was very sweet to my daughter, and kept checking to see if we were happy , and keeping us well supplied with drinks. She even found Chianti for my dad, which was much appreciated. So, to recap: seats at the bar, great homemade potato chips, on time reservation, good food, and a waitress who really made our evening fun and special. Saw review on phantom gourmet and couldn't wait to try it out. The dining room upstairs was pretty chilly. Was windy and cold day but seemed a bit extreme. Our rolls were pretty hard, definitely not hot and fresh. Corn bread was pretty good. I had the tips, wife had lollipop lamb chops. I got no salad option , just baked potato which tasted a bit off and steamed vegetables that lacked seasoning. I was only given four tips which seemed light for $20. The chops were good but she also thought potato tasted a bit weird. Bottom line is I guess it was ok, but that was it, just ok. We are not hard to please but it just fell short in our eyes. We went on a Wed that was quiet which would make you think that you would get a great experience which we did not. read more

My husband and I came in tonight to no wait (which was amazing and rare for this place on a Friday night!) and it was the best decision we could have ever made! From the amazing service from our waitress Amy to our fantastic meals (the Big Loft Flatbread for me and a burger with Gouda and bacon for my husband); everything was perfect! Decor is a little dated but otherwise im not sure why the low rating. Food is really yummy. We tried a bunch of things for a group birthday. Calamari, scallops and bacon(on special) and pulled pork eggrolls. But before the apps even came, can we talk about the cornbread and dinner rolls? Addicting is an understatement! Both were delicious! Apps were good too, on the smaller side when sharing but we ordered a few so it was fine. For dinner we ordered a variety someone got pot pie, steak tips, prime rib, dip sandwich... all were very tasty. Steak tips were a little on the dry side but everything else was cooked and seasoned well. Consistent failure. We keep returning hoping for improvements but no luck. Steak came out over-cooked (gray) and cold, cold veggies too. So the steak went back and my son ate his dinner alone. Waited on a busy Saturday night for our table. Seated after a 40 min wait, then after our drink order, asked to move by a manager so that a waitress could have her family in her section. We willingly obliged. Re-sat in a different section and after 10 min asked another waitress who would be helping us. Proceeded to wait another 15 min and finally approached a manager, to let them know we hadn't received our drinks and we're still waiting for a waitress. Response was "I thought she brought you your drinks..." After several more minutes, we left. Epic FAIL. Note to management. If you ask someone to move after their drink order, follow through and make sure their service is as good as possible, WON'T be back. read more

No sure if they are under new management but the past few visits here have all ended with disappointment. The petite sirloin was very fatty and overly salted. Last trip I was given the wrong sides and the sides I was given were cold. Manager did not seem overly concerned with any of the issues. My husband and I started to frequent The Loft on a weekly basis this past summer. The food was decent and they had awesome drinks. Unfortunately they seem to have a really really inexperienced staff. The hosts all appear to be barely out of high school, which would be fine IF they knew how to properly seat a busy restaurant. It was so poorly done. Every time we went there it was an issue. The hostess suggested we make a reservation each time we come even if it's not busy to ensure we got the proper table since my husband is a wheelchair user. We did that, and told them we had a wheelchair user in our party and what our needs were as far as seating , we arrived about 5 minutes early for our reservation. They told us we had a 45 minute wait. The problem was they had just given the ONLY remaining handicapped accessible table to the prior party that had arrived. There were many booths available yet they sat a party at a handicapped accessible table right at the time of a reservation for a handicapped accessible table........ Makes no sense. We spoke up and asked why on earth they would do this. They had no explanation. They suggested maybe we hadn't said we had a wheelchair user in our party...... My husband has used a wheelchair for 17 years, when calling to make a reservation specifically for this reason he does NOT forget to mention it. The problem was the young inexperience teenage staff could not properly configure seating plans... The kicker was that they kept suggesting an inaccessible booth to us even when we said it was not accessible for my husband. They eventually asked the party sitting in the handicapped accessible table if they would move to a booth. So so awkward. We haven't returned and we don't plan to ever return. A shame because we had been going every week for months because they had good drinks! Not worth it though. They did give us each a free drink for our trouble, it was too little too late though. read more

It has been 20 years since I have gone to this restaurant. Only decided to go again because my teens like comfort food and it seemed like a good spot to try again. I know why it has been 20 years. So first off, the staff were very friendly and attentive. I have only good to say about staff. They anticipated what we needed, seated us quickly and were responsive. All good there. The place is run down and dirty; dirty carpets, dirty booths and holes in the seats. Really the place looks like 20 years of wear and tear since I was last there. Needs a total overhaul. The food was just not good. It is simply a belly full of fat, carbs and sugar. Nothing authentic. Even the glass of iced tea was clearly Nestea mix or powder. All done with this place. read more

The Celebrity Steak is awesome. Good spot for a steak. Certainly not prime steak like the big steak houses but the Celebrity Steak was fantastic. For $25, it is a great value for the quality. The sister restaurant next door Joe Fish has a Shrimp Scampi Steak that is similar as a special sometimes but has Shrimp Scampi over the steak rather than the onion sauce. read more

This is a good restaurant, but I don't get all warm inside like some of the other yelpers do. The Loft must be a huge sponsor of the Phantom Gourmet show as they're mentioned on nearly broadcast. The food is good but nothing out of the ordinary. The "Famous lobster mac & cheese" is very good, but you can now find that nearly everywhere. Every time I go I end up in the upstairs dining room. It's a bit bright & can get loud. I haven't explored the other parts of the restaurant but I think you can eat downstairs as well & that seems a bit more intimate. Portions are good, service is average, prices are ok. It seems to always be busy here. Parking lot could be bigger, it seems like I always get the last spot. It's not a bad place, but theres better places to eat. read more

We stopped in on a whim because we heard it was good. We ate at the bar. The service was good. The menu is geared towards carb heavy "home style" cooking. There was an extensive menu. I couldn't understand why it was so pricey until I saw "phantom" on one of the menu items. Our food, while good, was nothing extraordinary. I'm not really a penny pincher but I hate price gouging. For example, the cobb salad does not contain chicken and it's 5.99 to add it. So you pay almost $20 for a salad. Not sure that we would return with so many nearby options. read more

Horrible service!!! Just got home from a VERY disappointing Monday afternoon lunch with a friend. A rainy Monday afternoon! No one greeted us at the door... when he showed up he said he went into the kitchen because it was slow( really?!) what exactly IS your job? We were seated at a high top table and both ordered a cup of tea. Got the tea... no spoons or cream... had to flag our waiter down to get those. Within a few minutes we ordered and proceeded to wait FOREVER for sandwiches!! Again flagged down our waiter who told us that they just did a switchover in the kitchen and there was some confusion ( ya think?) what exactly is a switchover at 1:00? We ordered more tea (cold and rainy day required a nice hot cup of tea) he delivered it WITHOUT a refill on the cream! Clueless! Another 15 minutes later he delivered our meal and said he would speak to his manager about taking our meals off the bill. A nice gesture BUT he only took off one meal! My friend looked at me and said .."I waited as long as you did ... why just one meal?" Was it because I was the one to complain not my friend? I want to stress the restaurant was no where near busy... when our waiter wasn't waiting for our food to come out he was chatting with other employees. All the tables around us were covered with dirty dishes of the previous diners. My husband and I have eaten here on many occasions over the years and never had service this horrible! I really like the food and drinks at the loft and have never had a bad time. We came in tonight to escape the heat and have a good meal but we ended up staying for our app and left right after. I'm not sure what's going on but it was like they had no ac on what so ever! It's 90+ degrees outside and it feels like 85 inside of the restaurant. I guess I'll only come when it's 70 or less outside. read more

This place has lost all its charm. I used to go to the loft at least once a week but it has gone so downhill in the last 2 years. The food prices have skyrocketed but the quality has drastically plummeted. The bagged lettuce, microwaved sides, and poor meat quality at high end restaurant prices have ruined this place. Worst dining experience ever . Our waitress , Kathleen , waited about 15 minutes to take our drink order but did apologize. Asked if we wanted rolls while we waited for our food we said yes and they weren't brought to the table until our food arrived . I asked for cheddar on my burger it was some sort of cheese whiz type sauce . Awful . We also had a to go order to bring home I asked when our food was served when would be the best time to order she said she would put it in right then . When she finally got around to giving us the check I asked about the to go order and she had forgotten . Again another apology . She then disappeared for a half hour we had to ask the hostess to find her finally got out of there . 2 hours and $60 dollars I'll never get back . Went there Saturday night to meet some friends. We are all in our 40's not a young party crowd. Rudest bartenders I have ever encountered. I'm sorry to bother you by asking questions about your drinks. I have never been to your establishment before. I thought her demeanor was just a dislike for me but when my friend asked if she could make a lemon Drop martini, the response was a nasty comment "do I not look like bartender" followed with a nasty look.
