First time here and won't be my last. Located behind "Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace," on Kear St., they have a beautiful bar and restaurant worth stopping by for a drink and/or some delicious food. The menu has a variety of options including gluten free and vegan. The service from Bucky & Chris was top notch! Both super friendly and easy to chat with which made our experience even better. We ordered: *The eggplant tier 5/5 - so good with Burrata cheese. *The double cheese smash burger w/fries 5/5 - yum! *The Chopped Salad w/grilled chicken 5/5 - sooo good, and the special - buffalo cauliflower w/ranch dressing 5/5 To drink: margaritas no salt- Tim the bartender shook a mean one! 5/5 *Kid friendly in the restaurant area *Happy Hour Drink menu only *Parking lot

So seven of us went here everybody loved everything. Oh my God they put out these little square breads. They're so tasty. We had the couple appetizers I had the angel head, shrimp, tomato, and supposed to have asparagus, but I don't like asparagus so I told him no, but it was really good. My wife had the burger and someone else also had the burger and they said it was great. It's a very large place a lot of cushion seats, which is what I like.

Enjoyed the patio seating while catching up with a friend. We both ordered burgers and they were 10/10! The service was great as well.

Although Poughkeepsie has a decent variety of excellent restaurant options, there aren't a lot of upscale places to select from. We opted to book reservations for Brasserie 292 for a Saturday night. When we arrived, we were nearing the end of the dinner rush. We were sat right away, unfortunately it wasn't all too romantic being sat in the middle of the restaurant but understandably the restaurant is on the smaller side. The waiter was attentive, and addressed any of our questions about the menu, even hunting down the bottle of pinot noir we ordered. We opted to start off our night by splitting a half-dozen oysters which came with their in-house hot sauce, and an order of pouple, which was cooked to perfection. For our entrees we selected the red wine braised lamb shank and the dry aged prime NY steak. Since sides for both entrees were not mentioned on the menu, we also ordered sides - wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts and crispy smoked peewee potatoes. Overall the food was excellent and I'm still dreaming about the mushrooms. If we lived locally, would we go back, maybe but overall we had a great experience. Since this was an upscale restaurant, I opted to not photograph our meals and enjoyed being present in the moment.

Service was decent and pleasant. Then came the food. Steak tartare, oysters and Beef Bourguinon. The only complaint the steak tartare, no t the best a lil bland. But otherwise everything else was tasty. Now the second visit as a completely different story. We observed a lobster salad, off menu and asked if we could have one. Well, it looked a lot better than what it was. It was totally bland and certainly not a pound and a half of lobster meat. It was truly disappointing. We ordered some oysters which were fresh and tasty but that lobster salad was definitely lacking. All in all the first visit hands down was truly a nice affair but our second visit was disappointing. I ordered an old fashioned that came to the table red, and when I questioned the look the waiter assured me it was an old fashioned. Upon tasting it, it had the correct ingredients, but so little bourbon that the color and balance of the drink was off. Then, for the entrees, we both ordered the filet mignon au poivre. The steak was fine, as were the vegetables, but not worth $44 by any stretch. On top of that, the "frites" were clearly frozen rather than freshly made. The waiter was nice, and we enjoyed the ambiance. But we were blown away by the gap in quality of the food and its cost. When you visit French restaurants you expect a certain tier of cuisine that Brasserie seems to be emulating on the surface but swinging and missing on in reality. Not worth the visit unfortunately. Try elsewhere and you'll undoubtedly be more satisfied.

I could have eaten multiple plates of it. I wasn't into eating a heavy meal, but everything looked good. I really wanted the wedge salad, but due to recalls, i didn't feel right having lettuce that i didn't grow myself. One friend got the beef burgignon which she loved. My other friend got the croque monsieur. For dessert, we split a chocolate mousse. All delightful. Our waiter, Anakin, yes, Anakin, was really sweet. The lighting is dim, the ambiance is intimate, and it looks romantic. I had made reservations so we were seated immediately. It's funny to note that the place settings were placed next to each other instead of across from each other at a four person table. We usually prefer to face each other, but when it's Valentine's day why not be cute? We ordered a few drinks during our dinner, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Memere 75, Avion en papier. My favorite was definitely the Avion en papier which had a slightly sweet, slightly bitter, citrusy taste. They had a pre fixe menu for Valentine's Day which unfortunately did not have the steak tartare i was interested in trying. But for $88, you get 3 courses: an appetizer, entree, and dessert. For our appetizers, we got the TARTARE DE THON (tuna tartare) and COCKTAIL DE CREVETTES GEANTES (shirmp cocktail). Between the two, i preferred the tuna tartare. The shrimp cocktail was good, but the only thing really special about it was the massive size of the shrimp and the freshly grated horseradish in the cocktail sauce. For our entrees, we got the CASSOULET DE CANARD and FILET MIGNON. The extremely tender duck leg confit was served with pancetta, white beans, toulouse sausage, and foie gras breadcrumb. It was rich, savory, fatty, and filling. All great words to describe food. The duck leg confit reminded me a little bit of a smoked turkey leg with the red coloring and shreddable texture. The filet mignon was served with pomme purée, wild mushrooms, and a bordelaise sauce. The filet was cooked medium rare as requested, but a bit under salted. The pomme purée aka mashed potatoes tasted like it was 50% butter so it was obviously delicious. Dessert was good, but my least favorite part of the meal. We got the TAHITIAN VANILLA CRÈME BRÛLÉE and the VALRHONA CHOCOLAT POT AU CRÈME. Both were very sweet. The brûlée crust did not shatter well, but it otherwise had a nice creamy texture. The chocolate pot was covered in flaky feuilletine which gave a nice contrast to the creamy chocolate, but my wife found the brandied cherries overpowering. The cherries made me think of German chocolate cake. Service was excellent. Staff was quick to refill water and checked on us constantly. Pace of the meal was relaxed and I'd even say they were slow to bring us the check since we had been dining for over 2 hours. My wife wants me to bring her back for their bottomless brunch on a Sunday so I will eventually be back.
