I love Lynhall! Open, airy, and naturally lit, it's the perfect place to spend the day catching up on emails, or hanging out with friends or reading a book. I came here on a Friday and while it was busy, I easily found a place at the bar where I could post up and plug in my laptop while I worked and drank cup after cup of house coffee. Food-wise, I only had the roasted pumpkin, which was delicious. It came with two hearty slices of pumpkin on a little cast iron skillet, covered with bechamel cheese (or something like it) to be spread on crispy toast. A little pricey (at $11) but the flavor and novelty was worth it. If I lived here and came more regularly, I would love to also try some of their baked goods. Instead, I compromised by relocating to the windows by their open kitchen, and watching some amazing cake decorating that made me seriously reconsider whether I should learn to be a professional baker. Yum. We had a farmer salad, the cheeseburger, kids egg's and toast and a couple special coffee drinks. Salad was delicious. Burger was too - I thought the party was a little on the small side - in comparison to photos I peeped on Instagram. It was somewhat difficult to find a brunch place in the middle of the week during COVID, and The Lynhall did not disappoint. First of all the ambiance: inside is just gorgeous and hopefully one day people will eat in there more often. Outside is also warm & inviting with beautiful murals to look at. Absolutely love this place! I can't saw enough good things about it! First, every single thing on their menu is beyond delicious. You can't go wrong with your order. My absolute favorite thing to get here is either the salmon sandwich with a side salad or the beet and orange salad. They are both sooooo delicious and leave you full, but not heavy. The beyond meat burger is also one of my boyfriend's favorites. The chickpea sauce is amazing. Second, the service has never let me down. All the wonderful people that work here are attentive, quick, and so kind! Perfect place to go if you need to get work done, catch up with friends, or impress out of town guests. I have driven by The Lynhall for years with curiosity - I honestly thought it was a venue because the space is so airy and pretty. Nope, it's a restaurant and it's damn good. I went around 5pm on a Tuesday, and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. Service was kind and polite - some of the staff went above and beyond to check in and refill our water (it's self-serve but we didn't get the memo). I ordered the Chai Manhattan, the Fried Brussel Sprouts, and the House Cut Fries w/ Curry Aioli. Yum. This Manhattan was the best I've ever had, so you need to get it. The brussel sprouts were phenomenal as well. My friend had the Orecchiete Pasta, which he said he really liked but didn't finish all of it so this maybe wouldn't be my first pick upon returning. This was an interesting experience. I went with my wife looking at their great reviews. So, may be it's just us that didn't enjoy their food as much. The food definitely had some authenticity to taste but lacked presentation- key to appetite. We ordered something (curry) with roasted cauliflower and it came in burnt bust of cauliflower from one side and raw to cut from other side. The proportion of curry to cauliflower was not appropriate. When we told the waiter, he kindly attempted to rectify. Still not up to mark for $$$. One wouldn't serve such dish to celebrity or culinary experts so why to customers?! But, giving it 2 stars for their nice service and decent taste. read more

What a stunning addition to the Uptown area! The Lynhall has been absolutely breathtaking since the day it opened its doors last year. Not only is the interior gorgeous but so is the food; almost too pretty to eat but delicious enough to be worth it. The Lynhall feels like one of a kind being a hybrid of a coffee shop, full bar, and an upscale eatery. Oh, and don't let me forget a yummy bakery, too! They really have it all and everyone can find something they will love here. I have enjoyed this place on multiple occasions whether it was for brunch, dinner, or a late night sweets run; I loved it every single time and it always has me coming back for more. My first time here was for a casual dinner and we might have "accidentally" ordered half the menu :D The atmosphere just sucks you in with its elegance and comfort so much that you just want to eat everything and never leave. We shared half the roasted chicken, the parmesan polenta, fried red potatoes, and roasted veggies. I also ordered the Steak Sandwich for myself & bae tried the Steamed Pork Belly Bun Sandwich. It was all so insanely tasty that before we even finished our meal we claimed that Lynhall has officially made it on our favorite restaurants list. That's a big claim and it continues to be true with each experience we have. The brunch / breakfast here is nothing short of wonderful as well. We've tried couple of the pastries and sandwiches alongside of the Egg in a Crepe, the Breakfast Polenta Skillet, French Tartine, and the Pork Belly Skillet. Again, the flavors were magnificent, complimented each other beautifully, and everything tasted so fresh, especially the baked goods. One of my favorite bits of the Lynhall is being able to enjoy a nice iced latte with all my meals. Their coffee menu is small but it has all the essential classics and even some specialty drinks. My boyfriend on the other hand prefers the full bar and their delightful cocktails. Even I must admit they are beyond enjoyable and priced well. We've had the Home on the Grange (gin, rosemary, lemon, sage) and the Mosaic Radler (fulton ipa, apple cider, st. paul switchel, bitters); they were a nice addition to our meals and tasted great. The food is exquisite in taste and stunning in presentation just like the interior surrounding you. Massive windows allow natural light to illuminate majority of the space, while the fireplace and yellow lightbulbs warm the place and cozy it up. The mosaic of wood, marble, and black metal plays together to create an edgy yet serene vibe. Everything here really is the best of both worlds. Perfect to enjoy a casual get together or have a special occasion celebration. The layout is really not that difficult to figure out. Just know you can seat yourself wherever your little happy heart desires, whether it's at one of the personal tables or the leather chairs by the fire. As far as ordering goes, it's also fairly simple. If you want coffee or alcohol, navigate yourself to the bar on the left side that is an OBVIOUS drink / coffee bar. If you're into something to munch on first, head out to the counter in the back area which is an OBVIOUS food area as it is covered in a marvelous spread of pastries, salads, and sandwiches OR just order it all here including your drinks too. The staff is nice and very helpful, don't be afraid to ask if you end up having questions!! The bathrooms are hidden away in the back to the right, behind a magical hallway full of old fashioned typewriters and love notes on the wall. Don't worry, just go explore the space! It's like an enchanting labyrinth of surprises and amazing knick knacks. It truly is so charming! The Lynhall is a place I will keep coming back to, always, especially now with their rotating menu; it's just impossible not to want to try all the new meals they introduce. It's quite rare to find such spacious restaurant in the Uptown area. The best thing is that they have private free parking in the back. As I stepped into the restaurant, I immediately fell in love with interior design. Big windows, lots of sunlight = perfect for Instagramming. We ordered the famous Lynhall Burger, roasted mushrooms, fried red potatoes, and mac & cheese. The taste overall was pretty good. Burger was pretty to look at (the cheese sauce stole the show); however, I asked for medium rare but the burger came out to be well done (hence the 4 stars). We got some Thanksgiving foods and pastries this past week. The pumpkin pie and rolls were great. The stuffing and brussel sprouts were terrible. The stuffing was big chunks of soggy bread with no flavor. And it was very expensive, not to mention they charged us for way more than we got. The brussel sprouts were bland and tasteless. This is my go-to spot to grab a coffee and meet up with friends in the uptown/south Minneapolis area. The spot is rustic chic (think hipster farmhouse vibes) with ample space to eat and gather; contrary to the cramped coffee spots sprinkled throughout Minneapolis. The food offerings are very tasty and artistanal. They have rotating sandwiches and soups, so you're almost always in for a new treat every time you step in. I recently had the soup of the day (chicken green curry) which was absolutely delicious-- I would highly recommend this dish. My only complaint is that the meal included a baguette, which ended up being a very thin slice of about half the size of buttered toast-- a little too artisanal and small to pair with my soup, if you ask me. In regards to studying, this place can get quite noisy between the tunes and surrounding conversation. Outlets are also limited but there is strong Wi-Fi. If you need a slow and quiet environment to study, this may not be your best pick. There are free refills on coffee, but the blend is a bit difficult to stomach without cream (this is coming from someone who takes her coffee black). Perfect spot if you're solo, with two, or even a large group, you're bound to most likely find a spot at the bar, intimate table, or a long table. There's never a happy hour, but their food is quality and so are their drinks. I am so bummed to write this review with just two stars...but it was a very disappointing visit. And honestly, I'd give one star if I didn't like the interior set up so much. The vibe of this place is warm and welcoming but it quickly turned sour after placing my order. I came during a lull to get a coffee and work. I placed my order for a latte, took my table order number from the cashier and found a comfy spot and began working. 10 minutes passed and I didn't have my coffee yet. Wow, this place. Yelpers do not disappoint. Everything is so gorgeous here that it's hard not to be able to be blown away. Came for brunch on a Saturday afternoon and they had a great balance of people who stuck around to study/work (very minimal), families, and just friends hanging out. The food was amazing and BEAUTIFUL! The pastries blew me away - we got the brown butter pound cake with a cream cheese and butterscotch drizzled icing. OMG. It was the perfect consistency - not too dense and rich, but not too fluffy either. It had the best balance of sweetness too, not cloyingly sweet but just enough of everything to make for a delectable, yet indulgent dessert for brunch. We also got the parmesan polenta and the breakfast brisket hash. Both were good, I wouldn't say that those were the ones that blew me away. Then, you will get a number and take it to a table. Lots of seating options--intimate cozy chairs by a fireplace, large communal dining tables, bar seating, etc. Ideal for any size group or situation. For dinner, we ordered the chicken dinner which came with a half of a roasted chicken, collared greens, crispy fried potatoes (WOW), and the most buttery-delicious rolls I've ever consumed. We washed it down with a strong Old Fashioned and Sangria. Parking was not an issue, even on a Friday night, thanks to the side parking lot and street parking. We have been very loyal customers of The Lynhall for so many years for the TEA TIME or "High Tea" like they name for the Holiday Season. We had been there also for Brunch and Dinner. My daughter has celebrated my birthday during many years in a row taking out their specialties for our tea time at her home and each time was fine. At the restaurant, the quality and the amount of everything were NOT good when we celebrated there this last birthday on Sunday, December the 18th. Apparently, they were having a special "Christmas High Tea"? Well, this is what they say. We expected something great according to this time of the year but, it was NOT good at all! The quality and the freshness of the very tiny portions of each item were NOT good neither the very inattentive service and the uncomfortable cold temperature keeping the heating in only 67 degrees in such a bitterly cold day! Of course the tea was cold and immediately, it became even colder! The waitress did NOT offer more tea kettles neither hot water! As I said at the beginning, we have been experiencing during our whole lives Tea Time all over the World including in England and these people should get knowledge of how Tea is served in other countries. Most of the places use besides the porcelains, also silver silverware and beautiful neat table cloths. The Lynhall place does NOT do a good job at all even for this special time of the year! Besides, it's too pricey for what they serve and offer! They rush us and made us feel very uncomfortable when we specially went there to have a great time celebrating besides my birthday, three extra special events including Christmas. OK, this place is so pinterest/instagram/west elm/crate & barrel chic it made me wonder when Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper was going to show up and shiplap the whole damn place. The place is spacious, with lots of communal tables, a welcoming seating corner with a fireplace, a coffee/boozy bar that you can sidle up to, outdoor seating, and parking. And even the bathrooms -- seriously, it's like Country Living threw up on the wall, in a good way. I went here on a weekday around 5 PM so it wasn't quite busy yet. I imagine this place gets packed for dinner and on the weekends, but when I got there it still felt like a much less hectic Starbucks, with groups huddled around their laptops and cups of coffee (or booze, no judgment) or folks having a quiet meal. I ordered a latte from the coffee bar, and they let me keep my tab open, which I think is a brilliant idea. I like being able to just go up to the counter and order whatever and have it added to my bill. There were a lot of tempting baked goods in the main counter, but I was feeling peckish so I got the half chicken and a sun dried tomato tart. My friends got soup, pork belly, and salad, among other things. The tart was a perfect starter and tasted exactly as you'd imagine - slight acidity from the tomato and richness from the pastry. The roast chicken was aces -- one of the moistest *UGH THAT WORD* roasted chickens I've had in years. I typically don't go for the roast chicken since there's so many other options, but in this situation I'm glad I did. As others have pointed out, the Lynhall atmosphere is so cool, calm, and collected that you can't help but dream to have your home be an exact replica. Indoors, it is so spacious and cozy and the sweet aromas fill your heart with pure joy. Since there is so much space, you could easily spend a few hours here enjoying a cup of coffee and pastry without feeling guilty that you're taking up someone else's table. The natural lighting and simple decorations would be perfect for stimulating your brain cells to get some work done or start bullet journaling or decide you want to write a book...you get the point. My friend and I went for a weekday breakfast and after placing our order at the counter, our food came out within 10 minutes. We decided to sit outside, at one of the six 4-person tables, given the nice weather. You might as well get a carafe of water so you don't have to keep walking inside to get a refill, which I did anyway to keep up my supply of coffee. It's self-serve so don't wait for someone to come to you. As for the food...um, YUM. It was so hard to make a decision among the sweet and savory egg dishes, sandwiches, brioche and tartines, etc. Everything seems so fresh, colorful, healthy, and light and our meals did not disappoint. From our two dishes and what I observed, the portions are quite small which is my one complaint. The skillet ($12), while completely delicious, was so tiny that I had to really slow down so I didn't finish in 3-bites (not an exaggeration). I was so tempted to get one of the scones, pastries, or muffins, but since I had spent $17 on the meal + coffee, I was forced to limit myself. Food, service, atmosphere easily lends this place to deserve 5-stars but the quantity for what you pay is closer to a 3-star rating. Your taste buds and eyeballs will thank you for visiting the Lynhall but plan accordingly to either spend more than you anticipate or eat again within an hour or two.
