I've been wondering about these 'Food Halls' that have been opening up around town these days. BIG place, I would imagine it would be extremely loud if the place was full. I ordered the smoked pork belly for breakfast. Single egg, great red potatoes and two slices of pork belly. I know that pork belly is about fat, but it is also about the meat, which there wasn't much to find. Flavor was great, but for 13.00, I want more meat. Also, why serve the meal in a cold bowl? The temp of the food was pretty much gone by the time I was half way through the meal. Why only one egg? Breakfast is usually two eggs, again for 13 bucks? I would want two eggs. This is a pretty place with whatever food. They try...but it's a hit or miss. For brunch: the tartine and the biscuits & gravy are not great. I wouldn't recommend them. HOWEVER, the polenta breakfast is very good. I want to come back for some more. When you walk in the front entrance the first time, you're tempted to wait to be seated or get instructions from staff. Great casual ambiance. Parking was tough and I was headed for the place north of Lynhall. I noticed there was no line at Lynhall so in I walked thinking I could get a delicious breakfast and not have to wait, I was hungry. The menu is fairly complicated for having only a few entrees. The items have several ingredients nothing is basic or so it seems. It's tough to know what you will get from reading the pretentious menu. It's a bakery so bread is a component. I ordered the buddy something not even realizing it's a breakfast sandwich. It came on a bready thick croissant with thick, hard cooked, tasteless bacon (I love bacon), Perkins style omelette egg and cheddar. The whole thing was pretty tasteless and greasy. 2 hours later and I'm still thinking what a let down breakfast was. I love a good cup of coffee and I remembered I thought the brewed coffee was pretty bitter and unsatisfying in the past so I ordered and americano thinking it would be smooth, delicious coffee. Nope, the espresso is bitter and not a delicious cup of coffee. It's too expensive to be this mediocre. Since this is the 3 or 4 time I've eaten here and have been disappointed, I decided to write this review. Next time I will keep walking north and get delicious food I can count on. Second time here, so far so good! Super spacious inside, I love getting work done here, I can always find a spot to sit. The only sad part is that the outlets are very limited in the big room. Food and coffee are good! I had the grilled vegetable sandwich and asked for a side of romesco aioli because I needed more flavor. Can I design my future house to look like this place? It is such a beautiful space. Long wooden tables, lots of sunlight, white walls, vases full of greenery, I love it all. They arrange the pastries on beautiful plates near the front where the coffee is made. Decadent, beautiful creations but they are definitely at the top of the price point at ~$5/each. My favorites are their savory brioches and the raspberry chocolate scone. We enjoyed breakfast and tried the potato sourdough tartine (a little bland) and the french tartine (yum, heirloom tomatoes). The tartines were ~$12/each and they were okay, but I'll be interested to try something else next time. Every time we come something different is in the display case. Last time we tried a banana rum cake w/ fresh fruit which was tasty. Overall, prepare to pay to enjoy the ambiance here! I definitely love the pastries and recommend the splurge! Will be back to try the lunch menu and the lamb for dinner sounds really amazing. read more

Very spacious with cool decor that is trendy but not trying too hard. The bathrooms are beautiful! Plenty of seating granted the place the was pretty empty so it felt a lot bigger. I went up to the bar and ordered a drink - only 4 beers on tap and then a couple more in cans/bottles. My friends wanted food so they went to the other counter to order. (We were a little confused where we should order) They got their food immediately but then sat down to wait for their drinks. It took quite a while for the drinks to come but eventually they got them. Once we figured all that out, it was pleasant spot. Wasn't too loud and we were able to get a better look around. This is a fun spot so I'd like to come back for a meal but not really sure how well it'll all work out with a bigger group and/or when it's a lot busier. read more

I love the breakfast here because they offer a half size portion of Eggs Benedict and the pastries are insanely delicious. And I like the open seating. The portion sizes for dinner are odd and seem to be getting smaller. I like the dinner food, and I loved how easy it was to do take-out when they first opened, but I would stick to brunch now. I wish they would do a few things consistently, and keep their salad/bakery section better stocked at night. It's probably better if you're not a vegetarian, but trying to cobble together sides into a meal is fine if the portions/price are good. Love lynhall for it's spacious tables and ambiance. Their coffee and desserts look so amazing I was wow-ed when I first came in. I usually bring stuff to do when I go to coffee shops so I had my computer and work to do. I definitely think it is a great place to go for either dining or studying. I got their seasonal drink the Tannenbaum with oat milk! It was pretty good, a little on the sweeter side. I tried my friends peppermint mocha and it was also little too sweet for my taste but it was still good! We each got a dessert and I got the mango something tres leches cake. I enjoyed it however it was more dense than a traditional tres leches and it was more lemony than mango-y. My friend got the tofu chocolate pudding and I'd have to say that it was very good, but only if you're really craving rich chocolate because they add a layer of chocolate syrup. A couple warms their hands with lattes at the end of the long community table, 4 girlfriends are catching up in the middle, and a man with headphones types away at the other end of the table. Walking in is a bit chaotic. Nobody is there to greet you. There's a large table in front with unclear signage and is a bit cluttered. There are two long counters on two sides of the restaurant and absolutely no flow or real logic to the layout. I watched group after group come in with eyes dotting around the room -- perhaps looking to meet up with others, or maybe confused about what to do. In short, it's awkward. Thankfully, the food was delicious. I've been for brunch but not yet dinner. The veggie quiche was surprisingly tasty and a substantial portion and again, I was happily surprised by the polenta. Fruit cup was mostly grapes but enough strawberries to maybe make it worthwhile. Coffee was on point. If you're sensitive to noise levels or expect private, intimate conversations, this is not the place to do it. Lynhall has an open air warehouse feel with exposed beams. It was a bit drafty, uncomfortably so, even away from the door. Expect a DIY yet friendly environment -- a great spot to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. read more

The only caveat I guess is that the first time you walk in, you can get a little lost as to where you are supposed to order, are you supposed to seat yourself? Took us about 5 mins wandering around to figure out we can also order the coffee and pastries from the coffee bar area versus the other register by the kitchen. Also after waiting about 10 mins after receiving our drinks, we had to remind the good serving folks that we still haven't gotten our food. Overall I realize this slight disarray can be chalked up to the newness of the restaurant but I really hope they improve upon it. Maybe a greeter hovering around the door? Maybe some better signage? Every single thing was so good! I would definitiely get these items again: Fizzy Hopped Cascara, strawberry pistachio brioche, the pork belly entree. Everything else was good but I wouldn't get it again. The location is gorgeous and you can tell a lot of thought went into all of their decor and furniture. I will definitely be back! This is such a cute and quirky millennial spot. They had oat milk before oat milk was a thing here in MPLS but let me just say they used to be really good when they first opened. They had a kimchee skillet that I always used to get but somehow they took it out of the menu. I wish they didn't because I would have been coming back for that. Their oatmilk latte used to be really good but they kind of fell off, idk what happened. Currently they have a nice array of desserts. We got the dinner for two, comes with rotisserie chicken, roasted potatoes and veggies and bread for $32! Very delicious! Their sangria on tap was quite good as well as their dessert. Only negative experience I've had was for breakfast--took them forever to make a latte and their breakfast options were fairly limited. The egg on a creep was delicious and their burger was good (they use the thinker patties which are not my favorite, but it was still good).
