We always get the four course experience and everything is delicious. Service is also great! They have good covid procedures in place. All staff wears gloves and masks. We cook the food ourselves so no changes there. Tables are sectioned off to maintain distancing. Honestly not much is different than precovid experience, I would say it's even better. The bill is paid with a portable reader so no need to wait around for them to take your card away. The meat portion comes with a small sheet that tells you the cooking times as well as a description of all the sauces, which is extremely helpful. Don't be afraid to ask for more veggies, they are unlimited and complimentary. We love getting extra broccoli and mushrooms as they soak up the broth flavor. They now have the small white potatoes instead of the big ones so it cooks much faster and absorbs flavor. Same goes for the chocolate fondue, ask for more if you want extra! My husband and I ate at the Melting Pot for our 1st Wedding Anniversary. It was our first time and the waiter was kind enough to explain the process to us. We ordered a variety of meats and seafood and then followed up with their ''yin yang" melted white and dark chocolate. First off, the restaurant is clean and romantic. We had a lovely time experimenting with the cheeses and breads, the fruits and the chocolate...it was all a great experience. In hindsight, it also made us realize how much more we enjoy going out to dinner and having someone else prepare our food. We spent well over a hundred dollars, just to make food in someone else's 'kitchen' (essentially). That was a first and a last for us. This Melting Pot is clean and service is exceptional. Parking is sketchy. We went in the evening and had to park in a parking garage and then walk to the restaurant, which didn't exactly feel 'safe'. When I say disappointed that's an understatement. I have honestly never been so let down by a restaurant. This is the first time I've genuinely felt scammed by a sit down place. From the hair in the food to the extremely burnt chocolate, nothing tasted good. The bread had to be 2 weeks old. We paid full price and did not ask for anything to be comped. There was literal hair in the food and we paid full price for the hairy food. Not sure who owns this place but it's definitely not the serves fault but this meal was $160 with the tip. That's insane. We love The Melting pot, especially for a celebration because of the great food and atmosphere. The Reston Melting Pot has always been our favorite. The staff is warm and friendly and our server Tish was great. We asked for her by name because we had her as our server before. We usually get the multi course meal, Big Night Out, because it offers 4 delicious and filling courses. Tish was very helpful and attentive to our meal and the timing of each course was right on track. The food was high quality and we always enjoy trying new recipes and indulge in the chocolate fondue finale with all the dipping options. We ordered the artichoke and spinach fondue and that was delicious, maybe a tad bit too salty but tolerable. The meat entree was very yummy and I enjoyed cooking on the flat top. Great food and service, but cramped. Took my wife and two teenagers and the table was tight for the four of us. Four place settings took the whole table so you have to get creative with where to put anything else. Table was better suited for two. Other than that, the experience was excellent and this is a full experience to remember. Our waiter was knowledgeable, provided great suggestions, and everything was fresh and delicious. We did the four course, but kept the sauces and cheeses basic as this was the kids first experience. Kids enjoyed the food and they are normally picky about what they eat. Oh god, I have not had such a bad experience at Melting Pot ever until today. I went for my dad's birthday and we had a party of five. Our entire dinner time was THREE hours and we decided to forgo with the dessert, because it reached three hours before any dessert was made. My partner had to go to the back and ask our waiter to just pack up the dessert, because it was already 9:30PM. We traveled two hours to NOVA for this dinner and we did not want to keep waiting around. The initial service was good and the cheese came out timely, but we proceeded to wait 40+ minutes between each course. There were not much check-ins with our table, we were just sitting wondering where our server was and when our food was going to arrive. Melting pot is built off of experience and I understand if a restaurant is busy or understaffed; however, this does not excuse over 40+ minutes to wait for the entrees and dessert. It was disappointing as this is the same Melting Pot I went for two of my birthdays, but I do not think I can return unless changes are made. She was very friendly, informative, and attentive. Tish made sure that our dinner experience was special and we really appreciated that. I've been to Melting Pot many different times and it's all been a pleasant experience. I've been to Rockville, Gaithersburg and Columbia, MD locations. And Reston, VA location a few times now. So if you haven't been to Reston location and you like Melting Pot, I recommend trying this location. Service always is friendly, you feel welcomed and comfortable. Melting Pot got a few drinks I like to get. Yin & Yang Martini. And Melting Pot Mule. The food at Melting Pot is delicious! And everyone knows it all Fun-do (fondue)!! Cheese fondue (whatever style you choose) is made in front of you and all so cheesy yummy! Comes with veggies, fruits and sliced bread to dip. My favorite cooking soup to get is their Coq Au Vin. The marinated meats and seafood are fresh, delicious cook in the coq au vin. And dipping sauces compliments different types of meats, seafood and/or veggies. And last but not least and a must!!!!! This is a fun place with very good food. Yes, you cook the food yourself, but their kitchen definitely does serious prep work and the friendly, knowledgeable staff is helpful throughout the meal. I enjoyed the choice of broth options -- we aren't cheese fondue fans so we skipped that -- and I very much enjoyed the Coq au Vin broth that we ordered. (I initially worried that the Coq au Vin broth would be overly specific or too light a broth compared to what I grew up eating frequently, but it worked well for everything.) The meats are wonderfully prepped and seasoned for cooking, and each piece turned out perfectly with the provided cooking-time guidance. You're provided with a good quantity of food -- we definitely didn't leave hungry. (The salads were 'okay.') For dessert, I'd never eaten chocolate fondue before and I thought this was fantastic, with a variety of things to dip. The highlight for me was the chocolate-crusted marshmallows -- they'll keep bringing out dippers, and I'm glad my sanity kicked in eventually because I wanted to keep eating these! I'll note that even for dessert, there are plentiful and clearly-marked gluten-free options. The booth seating was comfortable, but be aware that the seats do slide as people on either side stand up. The restaurant is a relaxed, quiet environment, a little on the fancy side, with pretty art on the walls and red, white, and black coloring throughout. COST: Is it worth the very high cost? Despite a bit of a rough start, mostly of our own making, the staff was able to work with us to take care of everything and allow us to have a good time. They were understanding of our issues and went out of their way to make our night pleasant. The only negative is that the experience is fairly expensive but that is understandable given the amount of time required per party to complete a meal. If you are looking for a good experience type meal that will allow for an extended conversation this is a good option. read more

My friend Taco Behl had recommended me this place so I decided to check it out with a friend. As we entered the restaurant we were surprised by the aesthetics interior of the room. It was as a unique cheese as it had a bit of a sweet taste to it which we really liked. It went really well with the grapes and apples. For salads we got the Cesear and Melting Pot House. I am not a fan of salad but the Cesear was amazing. The sweet nuts went really well with salad and cheese. The melting pot house wasn't that good. We ended up not even eating most of it. As for entree we got the big night out with Bourguignonne. The entree was such an experience. Cooking all the meats was very entertaining. However overtime it started to get a little annoying and towards the end turned into a hassle. My favorite meat was definitely the teriyaki steak. As for dessert we got the flaming turtle. DO NOT GET TAKEOUT I go to melting pot every year for my birthday and still wanted to continue the tradition in a safe way with covid. I was delighted to see the Melting Pot was offering takeout options but was extremely disappointed and regretted picking this as my birthday dinner. To my disbelief this is what you receive as an order for TWO people. Yes that's correct for $50 you can get a tiny cup half filled with cheese that isn't even fresh. Oh but don't worry you'll get plenty of stale bread for your tiny cup of cheese, the dippers to fondue ratio is way off. You certainly get more for your money when you eat there. And the to-go presentation is certainly lacking. Lesson learned that fondue is not takeout food. And that it's time to start a new birthday tradition. read more

This is an experience restaurant, and you pay for it. The food is ok. I wouldn't call it great. I don't really get dipping veggies, fruit and bread in cheese. The menu is a bit confusing and for a party of four we had one burner. With several cheeses available we were only allowed one in a large pot. Why not have the option of smaller pots so you can try different cheeses? On the other hand, we chose to grill our meats and the grill we were given was too small. We couldn't even cook the veggies as there just wasn't room. It takes a long time to cook the meat and it's a bit risky to be handling raw and cooked food in close proximity to each other. Depending on your taste, the meal can be satisfying, but nothing is worth the crazy prices. Prepare to be shocked. Instead of using your card when paying, you might as well give them access to your 401k. read more

While visiting Virginia a few weeks ago, the weather was bad but thank god the snowzilla 2016 did not occur the weekend I visited. It was raining and freezing outside. We decided to get some drinks and dessert late evening (9:30). Usually it's a good idea to come earlier and enjoy a two-three course decent meal at the Melting Pot. However, appetizers and desserts are not a bad idea either. My friend loved their chocolate dessert options. We went with my personal favorite yin yang dessert, which consists of dark and white chocolate. In dipping assortment, they bring a nice plate of cake bites, brownie and fruits such as bananas, pineapples, strawberries. I had bought the livingsocial coupon for The Melting Pot 3-course meal for two back in the summer. With the deal applied, our check came out to be less than $3 (however, the check showed the price it would have been, $76; without the coupon, I won't be returning). The experience was different; me and my bf had never been to a Melting Pot before. The place was nice; this location was cozy and I could see why people would go for dates. However, the meal took nearly 3 hours to finish, because they had to keep setting up and taking away the different fondues (If you have all the time in the world, or if you're trying to linger on the first date, this is the place to be... But if you're starving, I'd skip this place). We started off with salads and cheese fondue. I got a sweet salad (the name escapes me), but it was pretty yummy with nuts and fruit mixed in it. The cheese fondue we selected was the spinach cheddar. I enjoyed that as well, the breads and apples were a good selection for dippers. I agree with one of the other Yelpers; the dinner consisting of different raw meats was not the most aesthetically pleasing thing. Looks aren't everything, so I'll note that it wasn't super-tasty, either. I originally assumed the broth was meant to be for eating, like hot pot -style meals. The waiter explained the entree broth was just for cooking. The broth was barely flavorful anyway, so I don't think I would have wanted to have it as a soup... My bf and I both agreed that the dessert fondue was the only thing we'd return for. We chose the Yin & Yang chocolate fondue. It came with plentiful cut fruits, cakes, and our favorite: the marshmallows. Overall, I give Melting Pot at 2.5 stars, the place is friendly and nice but without the deal, there is no deal.
