Found this gem in Temecula by way of Instagram. I saw a post showcasing their Halloween decor and Sunday Buffet. It looked like a neat place to visit, the reviews on Google were good and the photos of food looked tasty, so we decided to give it a try! So glad we did! What a fun place! So many cool anamatronics and Halloween ghouls! Even better was the food! We had the all you can eat buffet $34, or $44 including bottomless Mimosas, featuring: Taco bar, Fruit, Device, eggs, bacon, sausage, omelet station, Mexican specialties, burritos, carnitas, machaca,enchiladas, menudo, albondigas, chili rellenos, rice, chorizo, beans, waffles, desserts, crepes, fresh made tortillas and so much more!! On top of that it all tasted incredible. My husband said the Menudo is some of the best he's had and he will drive far for good Menudo. I am more of a carnitas person and even that was amazing! Lacie was our server and she was so friendly and took great care of us! We never had dirty plates on the table longer than a minute or two! Mimosas stayed filled. I honestly was impressed by the entire staff, including the owner we spoke with briefly. We heard many birthday celebrations where they sung and cheered! This was my third time here and I'm super disappointed because I remember liking it the first 2x I went there. I ordered a coconut margarita and it didn't taste like coconut at all, it tasted like the traditional lime margarita but with zero alcohol. Usually I can get pretty buzzed off a margarita but this obviously had extremely limited alcohol in it, if any at all. So that was my first disappointment. The second one was the food. I don't know if they changed food vendors or cooks but it was all pretty bland and especially the pork tamale. Rice and beans also average. I wanted ceviche and my husband wanted to take me out for date night. He suggested the Mexican restaurant on the way to the casino before we go to Comedy Night. I had no idea there was a restaurant there and I have lived in Temecula since 1968, obviously I have not paid attention. I ordered ceviche and my husband ordered fish tacos, definitely the worst ceviche I have ever had in my life. The selection of hot salsa was amazing and so was the Chongo desert. You better come hungry if you stop in the Mexico Cafe. Previously I've had the Sunday Brunch Buffet where the selection was huge and fresh. But tonight it was date night so we ordered off the menu. These two dishes are at least 4 meals! So let me rave about the food. The carnitas is tender and flavorful. Topping the freshly house made tortillas with beans, rice, guacamole and salsa makes the best carnitas tacos you can imagine. Also, the special came with a side of soup or salad. I had the chicken and rice. Tasty and perfect for a rainy night. The service was great. We were seated quickly. Our server was friendly and attentive. And the food came out fast! While in Temecula, this restaurant came highly recommended so we gave it a try. We went on a Sunday, which is Sunday Brunch only no menu options. Brunch did not include a beverage but they did have a bottomless Mimosa option for $10 which seemed cheap! There were so many options being served at brunch. It was hard to decide where to start! They had fresh crêpes, an omelette bar, waffles, and all your Mexican dish items, but the highlight was the fresh Menudo! Personally, I am not one to order Menudo in a restaurant, but I had to try it and ended up eating two bowls. It was so flavorful and delicious! they also have freshly made corn and flour tortillas and a taco bar. The desserts were also really good with many types to choose from. Staff here or super accommodating and very friendly. Our table never had empty dishes, or drinks, they constantly come by checking on you, which was appreciated. Super disappointed! Came in with 12 coworkers for lunch, there aren't a lot of options in our area so this is our typical go to. However, after this visit, we won't be returning! For starters, our waitress took our order, gave us the lunch menu and then charged us full price for all of our items, not the lunch price. And we were noticing people that arrived after we got there were receiving their food before us! We then inquired about possibly getting another basket of chips. We were given a total of three baskets of chips. The waitress told us that it would be a dollar for each additional basket of chips! Where did the customer service piece go? Chips are cheap, your restaurant was certainly not busy and there's no reason that you could not have accommodated our table with an extra couple baskets of chips! This was our first time at the Mexico Cafe. The second we walked in the door my wife and I were very impressed by the decorations set up for the Halloween holiday. We were immediately greeted and shown to our table where we met our server Lacie. We are regular brunchers and were very impressed by the large set up. They had so many choices to choose from on the buffet, there's no way anyone would be able to try everything in one visit. Our server, Lacie went above and beyond to check in on us, keep our mimosas filled and answer any questions we had for her. She truly looked like she enjoyed her job and it also showed in her attitude with other guests as well. Most of the brunch was self serve except for the enchilada station which was fine with us. We've been to many Mexican restaurant brunches where people serve their own enchiladas and before you know it, it ends up a huge mess. I didn't get the guys name who was serving but his area was kept spotless and I was sure to thank him and tip accordingly. We give the Mexico Cafe 5 stars and highly recommend it. This was my first experience at this restaurant, the greeters were very nice and the ambience was really pleasant and I was happy to be there. That happiness was only to last for a few moments because of the service we received by Nick. He was late coming to our table, but we understand that things get busy so we decided to give him the benefit. after he took our order and we got our meal, he was nowhere to be seen. when he he finally checked on me, I asked him for a knife, and it never arrived. When he finally checked on me after I was done with my meal, I said oh did you forget the knife, and he just had a dumb look on his face like oh, I'll get it for you ... I told him it was too late. My drink was empty and i never got a refill, and I had to get up to prompt to get a receipt and boxes. The food was OK, needed a little bit more spices and didn't feel like anything special so I suggest to please add more flavor to your food. The biggest concern was the service. We didn't realize they closed at 8, so we called them before going and they said as long as we order before 8p, we are good to go! The sweetest !!! Went here on my boyfriend and I's four year anniversary. This place is sentimental to us because it is the very first restaurant we ever went to together when we met at 21 and now we are 25. Instead of celebrating, we were completely embarrassed because they refused to serve him over a brand new California ID that he just received in the mail. An establishment that serves alcohol should absolutely recognize a current state issued ID. That is not our problem, that is theirs. To make it even worse, they took his ID to the back for five to ten minutes with no explanation or apology while we stood there feeling uncomfortable and judged. This completely ruined what was supposed to be a special night. If you are going to run a bar, you should at least know what valid IDs look like and not treat paying customers like criminals. I have been frequenting this restaurant at this location since they opened. Beautiful facility, purpose built. As I child I remember visiting the location in San Bernardino. Until the last 10 months or so my rating would have been 4 to 5 stars for food, service standards, ambiance. The owner/manager Sharon was always the obvious source of the high standards, and she always had her finger on the pulse of how hospitality works. Now her son is there often, and his attention to the job is obviously not where it should be. I had 4 or 5 not great experiences with service, hospitality, responsiveness and food quality over past months, but I kept coming back hoping they were just hiccups. Unfortunately tonight proved to me the standards I had come to expect are no longer a priority. My visit was not terrible but much that I observed was more on par with what you might see in a Chili's or an Applebees. My server was great, hostessing was somewhat perfunctory, busser wonderful and cheerful. Food ok, but not necessarily at the level one would expect for the price. I asked for club soda rather than still water, which I've had many times here at no charge. This time they charged me $3.50 for what was essentially a glass of water! Same glass, same ice, same labor, wth. And this was with an alcoholic beverage. Think a shot and a club soda back. Does any bar charge for club soda back? After my meal, I waited a bit in the lobby for Sharon to come back out, but my social anxiety got the best of me and I left without asking for her. When I got to my car I decided to call her because I didn't want to let it pass without giving her the favor of at least offering feedback. When she did come to the phone, she was short, talked over me, was not listening to what I was offering, and generally made me feel as though my presence was not welcome, appreciated or even sought after. I have never hung up from a call feeling more put off and dismissed. I wish them luck, but in today's restaurant environment and their prices, I don't see it adding up to success. We treated my momma to a dinner out and decided to come here. Now that it's Christmas time, the inside is BEAUTIFULLY decorated for the holidays. We were seated near the servers station, which I was expecting to possibly be loud or lots of dishes clanging, but it wasnt a disruption at all and the employees were very careful and aware there were customers nearby. Our waiter was awesome, I think his name was Beto. He was charming and funny and always acknowledged my young son, confirmed what I was ordering for him wouldn't be too spicy and even brought a spoon over without being asked to make feeding him easier. The food came quick! Everything was delicious and this is a place that doesn't try and nickle and dime you for chips and salsa! I've always wanted to give this place a try bc my fellow Yelpers be posting about the Nachos Libra that's supposed to be humongous. When we ordered this, the server suggested we get a half order bc the full order is ideal for 4 hungry 300-lb athletes. They were right!! Even a half order of this was way too much for the 3 of us. We also got the Carne asada plate which came w a side of caldo de albondigas (I made sure, it's all beef). They give you chips and salsa for free (I like this bc not a lot of places do this anymore). Also got carne asada fries. The Carne asada plate was good. The steak was real ranchera meat and marinated really well. The Nachos Libra was bomb, but exactly like our server said, it's REALLY BIG!! We barely dented this. The Carne asada fries were ok... it was kinda mehh, I think bc they used steak fries instead of shoestring. Came here for a friends birthday brunch on a Saturday. The place was easy to find and there was a ton of parking. The outside looks new and the inside was gigantic. Because of that, we were seated right away. The food came out fast and was honestly pretty good. The menu prices were on par with other Mexican restaurants I've been to. Before even getting our drinks the waitress asked us if we were ready to order and the kitchen was closing. Mind you the hours listed say 8pm they were ready to close shop at 7. We weren't the only ones in there either. That wasn't the only time that has happened either. So my wife and I stopped going and took our business to another Mexican restaurant down Temecula parkway.
