Ordered a beer at the bar, a small bump happened which resulted in a full beer being poured all over me...it was a bad situation. No offer from staff to provide towels, napkins or anything. I was completely drenched, but life goes on. We ordered a few appetizers and another round of drinks- When the bill came, everything was at full charge. I was hoping at least one drink would have been complementary because of the bar tenders accident...that was not the case, full charge. Ok so I tried this new place based on their menu items, I had the French toast. As my sister and I were eating half way through our food I noticed something moving on the table so I look over and there was a ROACH...just crawling on the table. I immediately felt Ill and wanted to leave. We discreetly call over one of the staff members and she apologized and took it off the table. Another staff member walks over and asks us if we would like another drink and says it would be complimentary. I dared not put anything else in my mouth from that place. So we asked for the bill and the staff members says he's sorry about the incident and our drinks were compt. A ROACH and they comp our drinks. I was so disgusted. We live around the block from this place and have been coming here lots over the last year+. We always enjoy our time, and their drinks are reasonably priced and excellent. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is SUPERB, as is the French fries, the spinach and artichoke dip and the Mac n cheese. Pasta is also great. The only thing I had less than amazing was their vegetarian pot pie but it was still at least 4 stars' worth of good. If you go on a Monday they have live jazz and discounted drinks. Here's the thing, the Milton was exactly what I was looking for and didn't know it. I wanted simple, easy, good food and they delivered so of course they get five stars. I've been a little bit sick for some time, so I wanted soup for dinner. When I saw that their menu had tomato soup and grilled cheese, I was in heaven. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were quick and friendly. When my meal came out, I devoured it. Every bite was delicious and brought me back to my childhood. I loved the vibe and decor here. The lighting was dark, but not to dark. The decor was perfect and reminded me of an Irish bar I used to work at years ago in Boston. All of the guests seemed happy and everyone was into their food and engaged in friendly conversation. This is a great neighborhood spot and if I lived in NYC, I would be here all of the time. read more

Yorkville is the step child to the Upper East Side when it comes to restaurants. Let's face it, distance from Central Park and the subways has left Yorkville out of reach. I had hoped the Milton was part of the new wave of restaurants and other amenities that would follow the Q to Yorkville. Unfortunately, among lackluster chicken wings and truffle nuggets, came a fly in the steak. The steak, which largely was lacking in distinguishable flavor, also came served with a friendly fly. The fries or "chips" did seem to be decent and freshly cut, were in my opinion undercooked. Having a fly in your meal begs for serious discounts in the meal or free desserts to win the diners back, but instead they opted to remove the steak from the bill and call it a loss. We hosted our baby shower at the Milton this past June and I cannot express enough how helpful Paul the manager and the staff at the Milton were. Paul gave us ideas on layout and flow for the party, he was amazing! The staff were super friendly to our guests and efficient. The food and service was excellent. Even though our party was a short 3 hours, we did it this way so that people that came from far with kids can go home at a decent time. Needed a yummy brunch place in the Upper East Side and this place sold me on the fact that a drink was included with the brunch entrée. I made reservations on a Saturday at 1 and were seated with no issues. The restaurant itself had a nice rustic vibe. A good place to sit and catch up with friends and family. The service was really nice and we ordered the bloody marys which were nice and spicy, accompanied by two big olives which I loved. As for the food, my sister and I shared the Ploughmans brunch and Chef's masterpiece, ranging $15-17 which was a good deal considering the amount of food and it being accompanied with a drink choice. The Ploughman's brunch was presented beautifully and was equally delicious. The English muffins were toasted well, giving a good crunchy contrast to the two big slabs of cream cheese provided and the deep red heirloom tomatoes. The salmon was smoky and soft to the bite. It also came with raw red onion which I avoided just because I wanted to avoid onion breath for the remainder of the day but my sister had it with everything and it looked like a delicious addition. It also came with two deviled eggs. The yolk part was super creamy. A yummy nibble with the rest of the meal. As for the Chef's masterpiece, it was nice and buttery and came out piping hot. Baked eggs surrounded by bits of sausage, mushrooms and ricotta. Every bite was a nice surprise and complemented each other well. The toasted bread was also great to scoop up those eggs. Overall, everything was very good quality and full of flavor. Definitely recommended for a casual brunch try in the Upper East Side. read more

Wonderful new bar in Yorkville for a classy cocktail in a terrific setting. (yeah, it's been a while since it opened but I have been lazy catching up on my reviews to write) Pleasant date spot. Good for brunch, light dinner, or after work drinks. Attentive service and friendly bartenders. Some good craft type beers on tap, and a nifty cocktail list. They make a pretty decent spicy bloody mary here too. The menu consists of American, Irish and English influences. Quaint seating in the back dining area. Kind of a mix of Irish snug and British pub. Hey, clean bathrooms too! For the ladies, there are hooks under the bar top to hang bags and coats on. Bonus! Come in for a libation in the $11-$13 price range, and a pint will run you around $8 - $10 on the average. Funny, their cocktail prices are fairly priced, but the beers are maybe a dollar or two overpriced in my opinion. Also, they offer a happy hour on select drinks for $5 and bar snacks for $7 so there is that option to go easier on the wallet. Another win for the hood in an area that needs it during the 2nd Ave subway construction going on! Nice decor, ambiance, food, and staff. First outdoor dining restaurant I've been to since COVID-19 hit, and I was decently satisfied. Came on a Wednesday night and took a little bit (less than 30 min) to get seated for two. Safety precautions included waitstaff wearing masks and the tables being spaced apart. The Beer Battered Shrimp was crispy and had a good amount of meat inside (and kinda looked like tater tots, haha). The fries were hearty and a nice texture. Both came with a sauce, but I preferred the shrimp's spicy mayo for a little kick. Outdoor ambience was cozy and rustic with candles at each table, and the staff were attentive and friendly! read more

This meal started with a small cockroach and another bug part floating in the glass of water brought to me. I have celiac and informed my server, and asked specifically if the artichoke dip with veg and tortilla chips was gluten free and was told definitively yes, except for bread crumbs on top which could be eliminated. When the app arrived, I was suspicious of the chips, which appeared to be pita not tortilla. I asked before eating to be sure (thank goodness) and was told by the waiter he would check. Quite a while later he returned to say no, not gluten free. The service was also poor and my husband's fish and chips were very greasy and heavy. The Miltonian (gin, elderflower, lemongrass, cucumber, egg white), Lemon Over Basil (lemon-basil gin, St. Germain, simple syrup), and the French 92nd (aperol, St. Germain, rose water, champagne) were all huge winners in our book, tantalizing our tastebuds how can I say...just right. Honestly, I can't even pick a favorite, they were all so exquisite and refreshing, well worth the $12-$13 a pop. The only one we didn't love was the pre-mixed Milton Pop-it's watermelon flavor was very watermelon, but too strongly sweet for our tastes, more watermelon syrup than fresh watermelon, so be forewarned! The burgers were "moo." Totally unacceptable. And the service?! Terrible. The waitstaff looked miserable and it had a noticeable impact on customer service. 5 stars for great cocktails and an even better bartender (whose name I did not ask, I'm sorry because he deserves to be recognized for his awesomeness). Stopped in on a windy and rainy Sunday night around 6:30pm before a book signing nearby. I was hungry for a snack and nothing really stuck out to me on the menu, but I ultimately settled on the tomato soup and grilled cheese (a bit steep at $12 for the small cup, but perfect for the weather). Soup was top notch - creamy, smooth, and with a bit of bite from the tomatoes. My only complaint was that I wish I had more of it; the cup serving was small. Sandwich was white bread and cheese with the crust cut off, nothing to write home about. My first drink was The Miltonian. It was potent but incredibly refreshing. Cucumber is at the forefront but it has some slight fizziness from the egg white and tartness from the lime. A great cocktail any time, but I could drink five or ten of these on a hot summer day. I moved on to the much more forward "Long Day At the Office" which I cannot recommend highly enough if you really have had a long day. It is strong but very well balanced. In between making drinks and checking on other patrons, the bartender and I talked a bit about our favorite drinks. He had some good suggestions from their menu and to make on my own. Had a pretty awful experience here. I ordered the Chef's Masterpiece which I thought was an egg skillet but ended up being a bunch of cheese and cream with a few eggs underneath. I told the server I wasn't happy with my meal to which our server said "so what do you want me to do about it?" I had a terrific experience at The Milton! The fryers were down today so they had a limited menu. Nonetheless, a great variety! My friend got the Irish Burrito and said it was great! I got the NY Strip Steak and loved it! I appreciate when I order a rare steak and it actually comes out rare. Too often they are over cooked, but this steak was cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful! I ordered a Black Russian for a drink and it was very strong and smooth! Overall a terrific dinner and I look forward to coming back here soon! I think next time I'll try the coconut curry pot pie because that sounds delicious! read more

I live upstairs and not only is the service atrocious but they stay open till 5/6am almost every single night! Ethan, Marc and Ben constantly goes to the bathroom and looks like they are doing god knows what, every time they work. There's never a manager in-sight. Ben brings clients who seem a bit off every night as well apparently. I complainEd about the consistent lack of service and they simply don't care. This place should be closed down!! It disrespects the entire neighborhood. if you go to this place go during the day. it has a completely different atmosphere. And the brunch and service is (much better) But the workers above are disrespectful every time I tried to give the benefit of the doubt it's baffling and they should honestly all be fired. Jesus has the upper upper east side changed. I haven't been up here in a minute but was out late with a friend this weekend. The place is warm and inviting. Irish American vibe of the bar. A little on the pretentious side. I may have been here years ago before it was the Milton but I'm not sure what it was and I could be mistaken. But the nooks and crannies seemed all too familiar. I'm torn on whether it's a 3 or 4 star bar. I didn't eat here and the menu sounds fairly priced and unique. UM truffle chicken nuggies?! Wha? Irish burritos? Tell me no more. But I didn't eat here because it was like one in the morning. Anyway, the beer selection is more unique than most pubs I'll give them that. Tried a porter from Dogfish Head I never had before but it was also $11. Most of the other beers were at a minimum of $9 for just a basic pilsner or lager. Which was also confusing because the chalkboard on the wall has them still listed as $8. Anyway - beer is really over-priced because a mixed drink was also $9. I'm so confused. Oh, life. Why are you doing this to me? I'm also confused because I received more attention and flattery from regular patrons popping in than I probably have in the past two years of going out. Is this where the cool kids go after midnight? I don't know but I would come back to try the food and absorb the flattery I guess again. read more

I'm usually a 5 stars rater but this place I'll give a four. Overall the restaurant is great, nice and cozy environment, very friendly atmosphere in a nice neighborhood. I came here after reading yelp review and decided to try their food. Food was okay, nuggets that was highly recommended was okay and fish and chip was okay as well, maybe I'm not a big fan of Irish food, I don't know. I'll say if you live around here, come and give it a try. If you're not in the area, I'll say they are better places, BUT, if you come here for cocktail, then it is a yes. read more
