I co worker suggested we try this restaurant since we both were on an assignment in the area. Not sure of the name of each dish but one was goat which was very good for my first time eating it and the red sauce one was chicken

Wow. What a great find. Looking online the picture looked yummy. I stopped in for lunch and Bam there was a buffet. A lot of variety. I literally tried everything out! Most items tasted excellent my favorite and the name I remember was Black garlic chicken. Fantastic. A lot of chicken, curry dishes, soup, drink and I think there was dessert but overall great experience. I did come for a late lunch so the food was warm. Totally fine. I enjoyed all of my finds this day. Food was well seasoned with veggies and spices I've never heard of! I can't wait to try the buffet now and fresh: probably going to change the stars to 5 lol. Thank you for all your hard work Team!

Oh my, when I tell you this is some of the best Indian (fusion) food we've ever had...believe me! My husband found this on Yelp and we stopped in for the lunch buffet - we couldn't be more impressed. The restaurant was very clean, bright, and beautifully decorated. The customers ranged from corporate types to couples to friendly group outings. The buffet has a wide range of options including appetizers and desserts as well. We had so much fun sampling things we'd never had before and of course the classics were *chefs kiss*. We recommend this to anyone! I haven't been able to find some of their unique dishes anywhere else.

The Monk's is an Indian fusion restaurant serving up things like traditional Indian favorites, Chinese, and things like tikka pasta. When you walk in you're greeted by friendly staff and seated. The interior is causal and on a sunny day very bright with the large windows. They have a decent drink menu so you grab an Indian beer while you decide what to order. I decided to try the Manchurian noodles and green chili chicken (curry). It came out fast and I probably ate it even faster. The Manchurian noodles were way better than they should have been. They were savory, sweet and spicy. The star of the show was the green chili chicken though. If you like green chilis you have to try this curry. It's unique and full of flavor. I ordered it spicy but it was still on the mild side, so even if you are afraid of anything being too spicy this shouldn't kill your tongue. The naan was pretty standard that it came with, but the portion was the perfect size to match the amount of curry and rice.

We typically order The Monk's to-go but decided to dine-in. My husband ordered the chicken tikka masala which is his favorite. I was wanting something a little different and ordered the paneer kadai masala. The chicken tikka masala was rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. It was comforting without being heavy and had a sweetness to it. I enjoyed the paneer kadai masala. I could taste the smokiness and it was thicker than the tikka masala. It had a great depth of flavor with the paneer and just the right amount of heat. Of course we had to get the garlic naan with it but it came with rice as well! My husband finished his food and took some bites of mine. There was enough for leftovers the next day for me. Call me old school, but the only small complaint I had was the music. It didn't quite fit the atmosphere though it wasn't a big deal overall. Service was fine! We knew what we wanted, so we ordered quickly.

Tandoori momos were very flavorful and crispy! A little expensive for what you got though (6 momos). Spicy masala noodles were good but wish they had more stir fry char! We also got the chili pepper with paneer, we saved the sauce to make it with some wings. Will definitely be back! They have lunch buffet Monday-Thursday which I would love to try.

I had a wonderful lunch at The Monk's with friends. We did the lunch buffet and got a chance to try various foods such as tandoor chicken, paneer, chicken curry, biryani, gulab jamun, a sour soup, naan (garlic and regular), among other foods. Overall, the food was great and cost less than $15 which is a steal. However, the gulab jamun was not the best that I have tried but it was alright. There was plenty of parking and the establish was clean and well kept. The staff was also wonderful. We had a wonderful time here.

This is the first time we are trying out this Indian restaurant. We saw all the great reviews in Yelp and decided to give this place a shot. They serve tasty and delicious Indian meal. They have more like a Indo-Chinese type menu options which are tasty as well. They have a numerous number of vegetarian options and some vegan options as well. Their service was great and helped answer our questions. The inside decor and ambience are great. They have a big parking space in front of them. They do dine in and carry out. They are business casual and family friendly. I am unsure if they had any outdoor seating, I missed to check on that. They also serve delicious pastries that are a must have!

Hidden gem! Some of the best Tikka Masala I've had. Highly recommend the Street Noodles mild and the naan bread. Large portions. Next time I will try the Momos. Very friendly service and laid back atmosphere.

A friend and I went here for the lunch buffet during the week. It was super yummy. I think my favorite things were the mango juice and also the garlic naan was so yummy. There were lots of different options and so many that I'm not sure I got to try everything. If you're ever in the Carmel area and looking for a unique lunch buffet option, I'd recommend giving Monk's a try.

They have a lunch menu but we ordered from the regular dinner menu. My wife had the Punjav's Favorite Tikka Masala with chicken. It was $19 and is ranked as some of the best she said she has ever had. I enjoyed the Kashmiri Rogan Josh. You can order it with lamb, chicken, or bone-in goat. I chose the lamb. The serving was very generous and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was $19 as well. We ordered the Rosemary Garlic Naan, for $5, to accompany the dishes and it did not disappoint. All dishes were served with rice. The decor is upscale modern. The servers were very attentive, pleasant. and knowledgeable about the menu. This is the best Indian food I have had in Carmel and ranks very high among any Indian restaurants I have experienced. But I gather that Desi District cares not for all that mess: everyone is welcome. This is a neat spot to grab a hot lunch or stock up on food of the Indian persuasion, like the frozen packages of naan I scored. Initially, I stopped in because I needed a tomato. They have lots of tomatoes here, plus other fresh produce, like potatoes, garlic, ginger, peanuts in the shell, and other things. They also have aisles of packaged food, such as cookies, tea, gelatin (?!? Yeah, they have lots of gelatin here), noodles, spices, seeds, curry, snacks, and lots of other things. Along with the frozen naan, I also got some ice cream treats for my kids. I picked the most obscure flavors (obscure for our American gringo palates), and we ended up loving all of the Indian ice cream flavors we tasted. There's a food court here with lots of seating. I didn't eat any of the hot food this time, but I saw some samosas that looked dang delicious, so I'll have to be back to try them. The people who work here are exceedingly friendly and kind. There is a chai station, bakery and ice cream stand as well. There's so much to choose from. We ordered the lunch special Veg Thali, which is a plate containing a mix of little dishes, so you can taste everything. For some reason they were out of rice, which was the main ingredient on the plate so they gave us the option of additional naan, which was fine. We liked all the dishes on the Thali. I especially enjoyed the Paneer dish. The curries were warm and delicious. There was a very spicy hot spread that we loved. I'd get Thali again. We also ordered some garlic naan. The naan seemed to be frozen as the bread was hot on the outside but cold on the inside. We were disappointed by the garlic naan. But the regular naan that came with our Thali was good. We also ordered samosas which were flavorful and filling. An order comes with some 3 Samosas and a sweet dipping sauce. Very good. They must be a little short staffed. Food came out over the course of 10-30 minutes. We purchased a few things from the grocery store prices are a bit steep, but food looks fresh. Parking is adequate in the private lot. Restrooms are available. I'd come back. I love Indian food.

Yesterday, I decided that I would not be cooking dinner and instead opted to order pizza and dessert to be picked up on my way home. This is such a cute, quaint little shop located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station. So very unassuming, yet quite impressive. I loved the two cute yellow tables and chairs out on the sidewalk as well as the Sinatra that was playing when I entered the shop. I was greeted warmly and let me say how much I value a pleasant and genuine interaction like that. Someone came to the front of the store from the kitchen in the back, and she too greeted me with a very welcoming and warm smile. This fact alone makes me want to return and support this place of business. My pizzas were prepared fresh and handed to me hot out of the oven. The deserts, an assortment of 3 different kinds of cookies as well as two slices of cake, were kept separate and cold. My husband loved the pizza (he is somewhat of a connoisseur) and I enjoyed it as well. The carrot cake was a bit dense for my liking and the pistachio ricotta was decadent. My husband really enjoyed these sweet treats as a night cap! I loved the cookies. I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. It had a great contrast in texture with the soft-baked cookie being perfectly complemented by the crunch of the pistachio pieces, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more cookies, cakes and pastries in the future! They also carry some authentic imported Italian products, such as pomodoro sauce.
