I'm quite sure this is a perfectly nice place, but I ordered wrong...got the chicken salad on kale salad - the kale was great, but the chicken salad was inedible. Waaaaay too much mayo and the chicken used was subpar and gristly. It actually made me a little queasy. Not just that, the waitress didn't even ask why the pile of mayo-gristle sat almost untouched on my plate. This was very disappointing food and service-wise. read more

This place was amazing! Literally, breathtaking. I was super bummed about the fact that the Brussels sprouts were coming off the menu but, in the same turn, I understand the need to rotate a menu around more seasonable fresher veggies. I mean, have you ever wondered how some menus have tomatoes during the freezing winter. I applaud a restaurant willing to sacrifice menu items to ensure the customer receives the freshest local produce. I had the crab omelet and my husband had the burger and it was, hands down, one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. I was actually kinda jealous. We only have been here once and took a light meal so this is a fairly tentative review. We had the chicken livers small plate, the tricolor carrots and the crackling corn bread, as well as a dessert. The desserts were amazing - the blueberry sorbet was the richest and tastiest I have ever had. The pecan - chocolate tart, topped with a huge scoop of creamy chocolate ice cream, was also good but very filling. We also enjoyed the way the chicken livers were prepared. They were perfectly cooked, tasty and on top of a bed of collard greens. we found the sauce in which the greens were drenched a bit too sour though. As for the corn bread, we didn't know what "crackling" meant. For others who don't be forewarned that it means inside the bread are long chewy pork rinds. They have the consistency of gummy worms only they're not sweet. And they don't taste very porky either after being baked in the bread. The overall impression you get is that someone dropped some strings into the batter by mistake. The wait staff seemed a bit rushed and tired at first and didn't make us seem as welcome as we would have liked but became more relaxed as things slowed down. On the whole this seems like a good place for finer Southern dining in Mobile. I hope I have a chance to return and try some other dishes. I would like to give it 3 and a half stars but that's not possible. read more

Oh wow this place is amazing! I got the vegetable plate and everything tasted so fresh. I loved the eggplant stuffed with the rice and veggies. My husband ordered shrimp and grits and they were very good too. For dessert we ordered the rice pudding and I must say this was incredibly satisfying! Not too sweet, and very fresh tasting. Finally did tonight and my meal was awesome, But..... it was 80 degrees in the restaurant ( checked the thermostat) and waitress said remodeling in September and gonna take care of it then. Bartender and waitress all sweating. Don't like to sweat when paying 30.00 for entre and 10.00 for wine. Table in the back next to cutout in the wall has foul odor and cutout is filthy! read more

Amazing Farm to Table unique and deliciously presented cuisine. The deviled eggs and chicken livers were fabulous appetizers. The Wagyu Beef Hanger Steak with smoked eggplant and goat cheese puree was so tasty. The Chicken 2 Ways was also a delicious. We had a group of 11 and they did a great job of serving our group. it's not a very big restaurant but they did well to keep up with our drinks and entrees. we ate at 730 so a lot of their best sellers were already sold out, specifically the shrimp and grits. the other entrees were very flavorful and decadent but not too heavy. save room for dessert, they have a few items that are worth the calories. read more

I really don't spare 5 stars too easily, but lunch here deserves every bit of it. Here's why. Service was great, with ambiance to match. I had the lunch menu item with three sides: braised pork, cucumber salad, succotash and Mac & cheese. The pork was a proper braise (check your cook book for the difference), not a stew, BBQ or roast, that you get in most places. They held back the usual vinegar molasses treatment the pork seems to get in south. The cucumber salad had a dressing that was not overpowering and had a dash of dill, nice touch. Succotash surprised, being warm, yet firm with a buttery finish. Lastly, the mac & cheese, firm macaronis with good quality cheese, no oily mess here. Best plate of food I've had in the state. Ok, but here's the real kicker; with ice tea and tax that was $13.20! For that price point that's probably one of the best meals I've ever had :) read more

My wife and I dined with a younger couple on a recent Saturday night. Noble South was well attended but not seriously crowded. There was no delay in being seated when we arrive just at the reservation time. The restaurant is housed in a very nicely renovated two story building converted into a high ceilinged single story room. We had eaten there several times when it was a Thai restaurant and the minimalist decor appeared essentially unchanged. The menu was creative and broad in its appeal from comfort food to Southern cuisine to local seafood. I had the last, while as I recall my wife had meatloaf which she raved over and the other lady had hog or cow or some animal's jowls. She declared them good. What my young counterpart had I cannot recall but he gave it a good review. My redfish was OK. Somewhat overcooked and with a thin bland sauce it was clearly the bad choice of the night. Service was good and the evening was pleasant but from my perspective alone not remarkable enough to want to return. read more

We went to The Noble South for the first time tonight, and we are certainly glad we did. Had I not known that they are loosely associated with The Washhouse in Point Clear, I wouldn't have guessed it. Their ambiance is fresh, easy, a bit hip but not in a bad way. The floor is gorgeous and the stained glass vaulted windows are stellar. We were seated at one of the hightop tables that seat 4, and were the first people to arrive at about 6pm on a Tuesday. We got started with a French 75 (which was quite lovely with Aviation gin) and a vodka drink for the hubby, then on to the menu. They offer snacks, smalls, and supper. I immediately knew that I wanted to try many of the items offered, and we definitely got quite a few. We started with the deviled eggs and pork rilletes. Both (snacks) were stellar -- deviled eggs were velvety, the caviar a nice touch and the bacon was perfectly crisped. The pork rilletes were rich, but not fatty, with the right amount of "pork" texture to let you know what you were getting. It was the right amount of smoky and salty, and rich. The peach chutney was a great addition. My only issue was that they need to add another 2-3 toast points, because there is a good amount of pork in the small mason jar. Next we had the tuna tartare and the marinated crab smalls. The tartare was prepared beautifully, fresh and appetizing. The watermelon, sesame, cilantro, and quail egg was a combination I'd never had, and it was quite refreshing for a southern summer. The marinated (snow) crab with roasted beets and onion rings was an interesting combination that exceeded my expectations. So good! Lastly we had the confit chicken wings and the root beer glazed pork ribs. The wings were on the smalls section, but gave a generous portion of wings. Peanuts and jalapeños were atop the tower, so it looked beautiful. This wasn't bad by any means, but it was my least favorite for two reasons -- just messy to eat in a finer dining establishment, and it was a little heavy on the salt for my taste. The grand finale of the evening, however was so incredible. The root beer glazed pork ribs were so amazing, so tender, so flavorful that I can't even fathom how to get it across. There was an amazing spicy cucumber salad on top, and a fresh corn succotash underneath that just completely made the dish sing. I will always want this dish every time I go to the Noble South... But hopefully I can convince myself to branch out and try the other beauties on their menu. Not a hindsight, but I have to mention our server Kristen because she is just so awesome. She led us in the right direction regarding the menu and how to navigate the wine list as well. She's waited on us at the Washhouse and we just adore her. Honestly the least appetizing thing about the Noble South is some of their wine selections :-/ the wine should definitely be upped a notch to match the stellar quality of service, food, and atmosphere. Our Party of 4 had the following: Devilled Eggs- Im pretty bummed I hadn't come here sooner just for these. Great little punch out of the gate Pickled Shrimp- These are awesome **side note we may have utilized the leftover pickling liquid as a tequila shooter and it maybe should be put on the menu** I thought it was awesome the waitress was able to accommodate this request Sadly they were out of the Hot chicken hearts- oh well guess I have a reason to go back Soft Shell Crab- Fried Perfectly and that green goddess dressing would have been good on anything Wagyu taretare- Simple, tasty and I want some now Tuna- cooked perfectly, nice flavors Stuffed Quail- Specdamntacular Beef Cheek- best damn beef cheek I have ever had Rabbit- tender, rich and wonderful Bass- Cooked perfectly with an nice crispy top that created a salty (not too much) crunch We ordered the entire dessert menu which included: Pecan Pie- Like a ric flair chop from flavor town Banana pie- fresh and delicious Buttermilk pie- simple and great Peanut Butter- This was my least favorite but it worked pretty well in conjuction with the buttermilk pie I forget the name of the Cocktail- it came in a martini glass with a graham cracker rim. Im pretty sure the dairy used was past expiration. It tasted spoiled Coffee + Baileys....you can never go wrong with this combo All in all it was a great meal with just a few things that kept this lone experience from being a five star review. Id be happy to go back and give it another shot as it seems if firing on all cylinders they would kill it. only other downside was one of my friends got a glass of water with a hair in it. On our road trip tour of the South, this was our favorite restaurant out of all the places we visited across three states. The menu is unconventional and thoughtful. We loved the Brussels sprouts, redfish and fantastic veggie plate. Great desserts as well, especially the rice pudding. Extremely reasonable prices for the quality of food. read more
